I did over 36 for KD, he's on 22 already. 15 to go.

Just that the 2nd ticket not looking good, DG is on 20+ mins already and i picked under 38 mins for him, wanted to go for KL under 35 mins which would have been a better option cos he's done just 12 mins so far and won't do 24 mins in the 2nd half.
SmooshCHN:
KD over 32, KD with 1 block and Kevin Love over 19.. Don't go combining stats. Play simple

Who's a certified 9?
Joebie:
Okay who played the certified 9 when we were winning? And what did the person do? I agree that all modern forwards can play 9, although they may not be your ideal 9. But you are not a coach.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 10:47pm On Jun 12, 2017
Was trying to be modest hence the "might", we all know it won't happen in any competive match.
Joebie:
In your words "might". So the question is already dead.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by somehow: 10:42pm On Jun 12, 2017
Thanks, let me go for KD over 36 + assist.

I have actually done DG not to stay on for 37 mins in total cos the big must(mcgee) must be brought in to frustrate LJ knowing how temperamental DG is if left on the floor for too long.
ipledge10:
you can put KD above 36 and Curry above 8 assists... don't put LJ and KD 67 combine, you can do 60 combine. Lebron won't have up to 30, and kelvin Love over 9 is plausible
KL over 9 or over 19?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 10:30pm On Jun 12, 2017
Every knowledgeable football fan knows who's right here. Can't overflog this. Do you now agree he's not a certified 9 or you still think all forwards can play 9? I no fit continue with u jare bro no vex.
TheGoodJoe:
Is it not loogan that took his time to educate you that modern day forwards have the ability to play multiple roles? So saying Iheanacho can not play nine is ridiculous. Yet you go to post the above to show you have not understood what he is saying.

Why hustle for ball when your team is in control? Guy I no get time for this funny comment jare. You're right and the rest are wrong including the player himself.
TheGoodJoe:
You will hustle ball when your team is in control, building up well and sending passes to the attack.

We can run around the Bush but the fact remains. With Mikel in the side, Iheanacho would have gotten loads of clean passes to cause havoc. We need to sort this out. With better delivery we would have celebrated another win.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by somehow: 10:23pm On Jun 12, 2017
Abeg I wan put small bucks, can KD do over 32 points tonight and can he do over 36 points + assist tonight?

Can SC do over 8 assists tonight and can KD do over 1 block tonight?

Lastly, can LJ and KD combined for 67 points tonight or can. kL do over 19 points tonight?

Make someone make some bucks.

No matter how well SA studies or watch the clips of teams like Germany, Brazil, Argentina et.c, they might not be able to best any of these countries, why? Tell me
Joebie:
That's our arrogance. Truth is you have to study your opponents as well. SA did just that. They didn't let us play our game. No wonder our ex-SE players can't really explain what happened.

Go pages back and you will see what I said about the South Africans style, but we were all busy focusing on the individual strengths of the players and who should start.

.

Joebie:
We want to lambaste our players. Can we pause a bit and give credits to the South African team. Even if we had all the players you are clamoring for on that day we would still have had it rough.

I repeat know the strengths of your players and play to each other's strengths as a team. Just because Iheanacho is not that kind of forward does not reduce his quality.

I think our argument now should center more on who can be the perfect partners up front? Iheanacho remains a starting material. We just need to get this issue right.
SA played well because we played poorly, no more, no less, the better side always win most of the time. we hailed them when they were winning and sang their song, so why shouldnt they be rebuked when they do wrong? He's a good player nonetheless, i didn't say otherwise. infact i reminded the house how efficient he was playing as a SS during his youth career. what's good is good and whats bad is bad. no asslicking here.

He's a starting 11 because we don't have a better replacement (tested) for him so far, if we were spoilt with options (strikers) like before, he won't even be in there which you know. the job is now in the hands of the coaching crew to find solution to our attacking prowess.

Joebie:
The team did wrong. We didn't play as a team. Iheanacho is a quality forward. But he is not in the mold of Aghahowa for example who scores most of his goals by individual effort. Emenike is another example of that kind of striker who can single highhandedly create and score. Kelechi on his part needs to have a clear sight at goal or be set up by a team mate. We need to play according to the strengths of our players. When there is that kind of understanding, we will have team work. Baxter said his boys will play for each other. Their secret was revealed even before the match.

MODIFIED
Kelechi did not have a clear sight at goal. No thanks to the organized SA team. Neither was he well set up by his teammates.
Yes the team did wrong and HE as a sole person did wrong too!

Hope you read what he said with his own mouth? whether they fed you balls or not, a serious minded striker will surely go hustle for his ball if truly he wants to leave a mark. (ditto Suarez, Aguero, G. Jesus e.t.c) Not having a clear sight on goal is another negative addition to his bad game on saturday.

All in all, maybe Ideye (calling on him cos i don't think we have any other big striker that can act both as a CF and SS currently) can help him perform better against Cameroon if the coach is to go with Iheanacho in the starting 11.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 7:21pm On Jun 12, 2017
An ideye or Macaulay (too bad he faded like fake ankara) or an Aaron Simon fits well into your scenario.
komekn:
Because KC is not a true No.9 I would suggest he is useless in the air. This meant that the crosses that Moses Simon put in became wayward. They weren't great crosses but crosses a Benteke would thrive on. Unfortunately he is not Nigerian.

Some of the balls forward were reflection of players use to playing with a true No.9 who can hold up play and bring in either attacking midfield players or supporting forward players.

Furthermore it meant that the SA center backs didnt feel pressure to drop back.

I think we need a Drogba, Lukaku, Anichebe type player so when the going gets tough that option us created. An option we may desperately need when we face Cameroon. At least on the bench to change things if the need arises to change the structure and adapt play to circumstances.

We also had players who lacked versatility and or where of form. We definitely could do with Sone Aluko.

We need to really look at our options in defence. I remember Danny Shittu how he came in and brought real calmness to our defence years ago.

Loyal fans remember the good times. Iheanacho remains our leading goalscorer under Rohr. Let's cut him a slack. But I maintain that game was lost in the midfield. Akpeyi probably should have stopped the first goal with better reflexes. Let's throw our weight behind the team. One thing I've learned in life is to assume responsibility even when I am not wrong. It is professional for Iheanacho to blame himself. It's also professional for Mikel to say the team can do well with or without him. That's a sign of maturity and humility.
Not disputing his goals, rather disputing the asslicking that he did no wrong on Saturday.

clear difference!

His asslicking is outta this world!

can defend iheanacho that he never said all these self.

to even say iheanacho is a certified 9 killed the whole seriousness i had discussing with him.
goldfish80:
Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has sent his apologies to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for his poor conduct after he was substituted in Nigeria’s 0-2 loss to South Africa.
Iheanacho was yanked off for Olarewaju Kayode as Nigeria chased an equaliser. The forward strolled off the pitch slowly despite the Eagles trailing, he even had to be hurried off the pitch by a South African player.
He grudgingly shook the hand of Rohr before heading to the bench, where he angrily kicked at a water bottle while ranting. 20 year old Iheanacho says he regrets his actions and linked it to the frustration of playing poorly.
“I wish to apologise too for the way I reacted when I was substituted. I did it for myself because as a striker I should have at least got at least shot on target.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t do that.
That’s why I was angry with myself. I wish to apologise to the manager, the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation for my action. That’s not me.
“For our next game, I believe we will come back stronger and better against Cameroon. I will improve my performance.”

TheGoodJoe:

I hope you are kidding. No striker in the world can do better with zero good chances created from the midfield. Watch the game again, Nacho's runs were perfect and the final balls to him were atrocious. Even CR7 and Messi can not do much in such scenario.
Wrong, these called players would have returned backward to pick up balls, play with their midfielders, draw the midfielders forward. Suarez is known for this, Messi too. they dont run from balls, they come for it.

TheGoodJoe:

Please explain how the attack was poor. Take it or leave it does not work in any way.

I have explained why Iheanacho's performance was not poor. He made the right runs. His positioning was good.

The reason we did not rip the South Africans apart was because of poor final passes.

So you explain how he was poor.
Your position becomes good if you have balls to play with, you discovered balls werent getting to you cos of your positioning (always behind the defenders who were ready to stop anything stoppable). he's not a rugged striker who can fight for the ball!

Take it or leave it, he performed badly, a good striker falls back to ask for the ball if the ball does not get to him while staying forward. common sense for strikers (ditto: Suarez, Costa, Van, Mane e.t.c)
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 10:38am On Jun 12, 2017
Everyone but you believe the attack was poor. Can you ever be objective? I don't type much on this thread but I follow it religiously, just couldn't hold in your bias comments again when it comes to anything that has to do with Iheanacho.

Take it or leave it, the attack was poor and a better striker would have done more than what he did that day. (Well he's not a 9 so shouldn't be used as one again.) SS is his position.
TheGoodJoe:
Disagree with Baxter's opinion. We did not create chances, not that we were poor finishing.

When you say a team lacked quality upfront, it means that a side crested chances but the forwards did not take their chances. In this case, Iheanacho was in good position to score but the passes did not come clean. So I think Baxter meant we did not have a quality attack midfield because as I said before we had enough opportunities to put three goals in the first half.

I am trying hard not to call you out on this iheanacho asslicking but you keep rubbing it on our faces. Please which runs did he make? What exactly did he do on that field of play? Kindly describe what he did on the field of play yesterday. I went out to watch the match yesterday and all the more than 50 people in the view center complained about him for being invisible all through. So please objectively if you can, point out 2 activities or actions from him yesterday.
TheGoodJoe:
Strikers feed on well created chances. We had the opportunity yesterday because Nacho made brilliant runs. Unfortunately, our midfield wasted the runs with poor final balls. That is a big area that let us down.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 1:24pm On Jun 11, 2017
Another flaw. Ideye as an SE player excels more as a SS, go and watch our clips, he has always been used as a SS because he does wonders in that role for SE. Enough said, not here to argue blindly.
Mickael2:
I am guessing you don't know the difference between a double-9 system and a SS system. Ideye is not a SS, he is a 9, has always been and will always be.

Meanwhile watch Athletico Madrid vs Barcelona 2014, Messi was totally annonymous and even I wanted him to be subbed out but he did score a goal(that was wrongly ruled out), that's what football is all about, when you are looking for a goal you don't sub out any striker because you don't know who may score
. You sub out an attacker with no impack if and when almost everyone on the field were more involved than him. I asked a question which you couldn't reply.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 12:57pm On Jun 11, 2017
Please give me 2 activities iheanacho contributed to yesterday.

Secondly, you know little about the SE if you don't know the role and contributions of Ideye as a support striker. I employ you go watch out clips from when we won the nations cup against Burkina down to the last competitive game we played before yesterday.
Mickael2:
Ok first of all, he was still in that pitch after 45 mins because we were looking for a goal, he had no business getting subbed in that game except if we were ahead.

Second I thought we played a 4-5-1 hybrid formation? Which fellow striker is he supposed to connect with? I doubt if you even know the formation we played, but of course you have the right to criticise.

Finally, Ideye our best SS since 2012? SS actually means support striker and not shadow striker and that is definetly not Ideye. Can't really see why we want to bring back Ideye when Fanendo Adi is exactly the same type of player and quite frankly he scores more goals than Ideye
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 11:14am On Jun 11, 2017
Chai, too many sentimental comments on this thread, some people won't see anything wrong with the players they like.

What exactly was Iheanacho doing on that pitch after 45 mins? He was no where to be found and had no connection whatever either with his fellow striker or the midfield. If they don't feed you balls, why not come for the balls?

Even when he was subbed, he was walking off the pitch like we were 10 goals up and an SA player had to come remind him to hurry out. Yesterday was a sad day.

Ideye must not be discarded yet, he's been the best SS since 2012. We just need to conclude on a good 9 which we currently lack except for Osimen and Kayode who are still raw.

The midfield lacked creativity, the 3 midifielders played the same way! No one took charge of being creative.

For the defence, save for awaziem, the rest did well but then when you don't attack, you put pressure on your defence especially when you have a dead midfield.
