Health › Re: 5 Medical Mistakes You Can Sue Your Doctor For!!! by SonofHim: 6:32pm On Feb 26, 2017 |
DonX001: @Worlexy, I beg to disagree a bit Sir, on the bolded part. For the purpose of enlightening the young lady (Ezionye) and others, I'll explain.
It really depends on the doctors clinical acumen and his clinical diagnosis.
You may examine areas that are apparently totally unrelated to the complaints, if you feel they may help your diagnosis.
For example, if someone comes complaining of ONLY headache or dizziness or change in vision, you may examine the breasts for milky discharge that may suggest a prolactinoma. (a type of brain tumor).
If someone complains of cough, you may examine the breasts to check for a lump, that may be metastatic breast cancer.
In both examples above, you could actually be sued for negligence if you did not examine the breasts and it turns out to be the key to diagnosing the problem. Despite the fact that the patient has NO breast complaints whatsoever when coming to you.
As a real life example, I've had a patient come with just cough and difficulty in breathing due to a pleural effusion, and the cause turned out to be a very small breast lump (breast cancer) which was not noticed by the patient, her husband, or previous doctors. (The woman had large breasts, and she was a young woman o). She had absolutely NO BREAST COMPLAINTS.
So its possible for a doctor to wish to examine the breasts or vagina for seemingly totally unrelated complaints, it depends on what he is thinking about as his diagnosis. If the patient declines, he just documents it, and is covered.
I had to clarify this, so that some poorly informed patients will not go around and start calling a doctor a quack because he requested to examine their breasts, when their complaints appear totally unrelated to those areas.
Besides, as a doctor, we are taught in medical school to do a full body examination as the standard, as that has saved lives in many cases by picking up things in the early stages that the patient might not have noticed, whether or not they are related to the patient's primary complaints. Its just the practical constraints of time and a busy clinic that prevent most people from doing this. Chief I present cephalic. I almost failed my final year exam in surgery because in long case I clerked a woman who presented with an anterior neck mass and failed to do a breast examination. The examiner was furious and and gave me a lecture on missed opportunities. Its not out of place to do a breast examination with consent and a chaperone based on those presentations... infact you said it all. |

Jammiiee: But doc why are we all talking about deliveries alone. How abt checkups where nothing is clearly wrong with the woman but she has to unbossom herself to that male doc for series of test, on her boobs n vagina to know if she is free from some ailments What I'm trying to get you to understand is to see these things from a gynaecologist's perspective. He sees breast not boo, he palpates to feel a lump not fondles. The breast is just a mass of fat fibrous tissues and blood vessels. When he does a vaginal examination he's feeling or looking out for abnormal tissue architecture. The mind has been conditioned that way. There's no need to be uneasy with your male gynaecologist. |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 12:13am On Feb 18, 2017 |
Now I see. I've read your posts over again. You see breast examination as fond-ling, vaginal examination as intrusion... That's where the problem lies. |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 12:09am On Feb 18, 2017 |
UltraLeslie: The problem is a universal one. Even in the West.
If/or when you're married, I dare you to be in the examination room when the gyno asks your wife to lie on the examination bed and UnCloth and he puts on his gloves to insert his fingers there...or starts pressing and fundling her boobs for lumps.
Let me tell you what you will instinctively do without even thinking: THE UNPRETENTIOUS MAN IN YOU WILL LOOK IMMEDIATELY AT YOUR WIFE'S FACE TO SEE HOW SHE'S TAKING THE "INTRUSION"
The problem with the modern man is we all try to be conformist to feel educated, open-minded and morally sophisticated! I've taken delivery of several of my classmates and friends wives and when my wife is due for delivery a colleague will take her delivery. I don't have a problem with that. And you keep talking about conformist |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 11:57pm On Feb 17, 2017 |
UltraLeslie: Then you're a hypocrite if you find my writing disrespectful when I highlight facts.
You're a mindless conformist to modern trends like a piece of roadside debris blown mercilessly by the wind.
If you find my objecting to a man whose only qualification is a medical certificate inserting and inspecting "my wife's" intimate organs a mark of insecurity, then I find your testosterone level gravely short in supply and you're tilting toward gender identity crisis.
ONLY IN SITUATIONS OF EMERGENCIES WILL A MALE GYNO GETS TO ATTEND TO MY WIFE WHEN I MARRY.
fücking conformist!!! Would be interesting to have a private chat with the OP. And please don't get offended by other peoples remarks. You have indeed expressed a concern and a valid one but I can assure you that its not the way you see it. Its a doctor patient interaction. Its also not a modern trend. Pioneers in the field of gynaecology were males. |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 11:47pm On Feb 17, 2017 |
UltraLeslie: It isn't a stupid thread.
And no, a woman doesn't have to be sick to visit a gyno. Not at all.
And a medical certificate isn't a moral certificate. You're the one out of order.
Comparing a male gyno tending to a female patient to a barber or mechanic is so stupid.
The barber gets to cut the hair; a none intimate part of the human body. A mechanic gets to fix an inanimate object--a car.
A gyno presses and feels a lady's breasts for lumps and the breasts are a damn well sensitive organ of the human body. Some ladies even have more nerve endings on their nípples than their pussies.
Then gynos insert his finger into the pussies of their female clients probing and twisting looking for what-the-hell-what.
It's a good ground for some men to object. Get the point! Its sensitive to you but not to him. To a gynecologist its just another part of the body. His mind has been trained to see it that way. Its called Conditioning in psychology. Its just a vaginal examination don't you get it? |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 11:36pm On Feb 17, 2017 |
GloriaNino: Wtf? I won't even book an appointment with one for counselling talk less of going to him for medications Obs and Gyn is a very demanding specialty and only very few women can cope with the rigours and so there are much more males in the field. More so from the way you speak I don't think you have ever had a gynaecological issue or being in labour before. Trust me you won't care a dime if the doctor was male or female. |
Health › Re: How Do Females Cope With Male Gynaecologists? by SonofHim: 11:14pm On Feb 17, 2017 |
Speaking from personal experience... I've worked in the obs and gyn specialty for more than 4 yrs now, taken hundreds (I mean hundreds) of deliveries, done thousands of vaginal examinations on women including colleagues and colleagues wives...and its just a profession! All I see is a woman you has a health challenge and needs help. To a gyn a VE is just like examining the mouth or any other body part of your patient.
Really I don't understand what you are talking about. |

Burzynski’s "Cancer is Serious Business” film series wins international award
The film Released in 2010, with an extended version released in 2011, the movie tells the true story of a medical doctor and Ph.D biochemist who won the largest legal battle the FDA has ever tried in American history. His gene targeted medicines already got FDA approval up to the final phase of clinical trials.
By delaying final approval as long as possible, the FDA holds out on releasing a cure for cancer to the public, for fear people may all start lining up for it, instead of chemotherapy and radiation.
One can find Dr. Burzynski working tirelessly at his clinic in Houston, Texas (where the state once protected doctors from nonsense Federal laws). No other clinic in this land treats and beats cancer with more consistency than Burzynski, who relentlessly baffles the cancer industry. Even the FDA themselves couldn’t take down Burzynski and his practice, with all their strong-arming and mafia-style tactics of harassment and bullying.
Burzynski innocent of all charges brought by FDA
All ending in NO FAULT, the FDA’s first four Federal Grand Juries that spanned 10 years, couldn’t indict Burzynski. Maybe that was because he wasn’t doing anything wrong, except saving people from a failed medical system and a preventable and curable disease. He was never found guilty of any wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, mainstream oncology is leaving millions dead in their wake. Part II of “Cancer is Serious Business” features interviews with board-certified oncologists, surgeons and neurosurgeons, who witnessed patients leave their care, soon to return in great health after opting for the Burzynski Clinic. Source pls. I would love to read more. |

I posted this on Nairaland today. Its not fiction.
"MALE FACTOR INFERTILITY"
I just met Mr N. again. He had a nice smile on his face. "Doc do you remember me?" he asked. "Hmmm not exactly... you are..." I stammered.
The first time I met Mr N. was in March last year. He had been married for 7 years without a child. He had been all over the place; men of God, hospitals, and laboratories. He had been diagnosed of male factor infertility (low sperm count) and had been referred by a doctor to consult a Urologist. He didn't take it too seriously at first but later decided to give it a try. That was when I met him, in clinic, during my Urology posting.
He was examined and discovered that he had a condition known as varicocele. Its a surgically amenable condition that predisposes men to low sperm count. He had surgery in a few weeks.
Fast forward to today afternoon. "I am Mr N. don't you remember me?" "I had surgery in March last year for varicocele and I am now the proud father of a baby boy". I was delighted!
Male factor infertility is the cause of in fertility in about 30% of cases. Although not all causes of male factor infertility are easily treatable, cure can be obtained for a percentage of cases. Its possible that you or someone you know might be childless for an easily recognizable and treatable condition. Wives should not be left alone to seek for a cure. The husband should also visit a Urologist for proper evaluation. |
