Politics › Re: If I Wanted Third Term, I Would’ve Gotten It — Obasanjo by SonOfWords(m): 9:36am On Sep 21, 2025 |
Nigerian politicians have a worrying penchant for history revisionism .
I was writing my SSCE between 2006 and '07 when Obasanjo attempted to secure a third term using the instrument of the Senate, but not for the fierce resistance by well-meaning Nigerians, spearheaded by the likes of Ken Nnamani, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, Muhammadu Buhari, et al.
In actual fact, Obasanjo's ambition which he thought to achieve by bribing lawmakers with ghana-must-go bags of dollars was the first outright and blatant dollarization of our political space, which subsequently became a habit for our ruling class.
I love and respect the man because he's easily on the list of top three efficient Presidents we've had as a country, but rather than seek to insult our sensibilities with bare-faced lies, he could simply admit to have nursed the ambition and then bowed to the opposition of the Nigerian citizenry.
It will earn him more respect than this samba dance of denial he keeps doing. |

LordAdam16: You know what's up.
I feel like its a negotiating tactic or a distraction though. There is no appetite for another invasion of Afghanistan in America.
Starmer is about to recognize Palestine later tomorrow. And Macron will recognize on Monday. He wants to switch up the news cycle.
-Lord Trump should be in the Vegas circus business. He provides great entertainment on the geopolitical scene😹.
Even he knows the uselessness of such an endeavour. Won't be surprised if he wakes up tomorrow and floats the asinine idea of stationing a US base on the moon. |

LordAdam16: Where dem 1 pass enter Afghanistan forcefully?
All routes are blocked. We are in 2025. This is not in 2001 when everyone including Russia, China, and Iran all supported their war effort because 9/11 spooked everyone.
If Taliban no welcome them with open arms, forget it. And that deal sef is doomed because the Axis will tighten the noose around Afghanistan.
Lastly, any allied base in Afghanistan is a cemetery in waiting, if the goal is to use it to attack Axis powers.

Appleyard: Historically, India has been very bad in geopolitics.
They don't have a clear-cut foreign policy in the face of new and prevailing realities.
That is a fatal mistake they might come to regret on the long run. On the geopolitical scene, India and Iran are Siamese twins, almost always aloof, undecided and lacking in existential priorities. |

Satazaa: This so called Nupeng held the entire Nigerians masses by the jugular for decades of heartless economic exploitation, they imported substandard pms that destroyed cars, we slept at filling stations for days, they fixed their prices arbitrarily, they made billions, even mere fuel attendants became gods at the pump, now another bigger player has stepped in and they are scared and screaming that Nigerians should rally around them to prevent monopoly, shouldn't unionism be voluntary? Must it by force? Dangote raised billions to build a refinery and you want to forcefully control his business through the backdoor by unionism, let Nupeng come together, raise money, build their refinery and unionized them, shikena. Nupeng imported substandard pms that destroyed cars ?
Do you do drugs bro? |
