A lot of people have been complaining about the NTA 2025 especially the CGT and now people in that space are reacting by mass sell off and yet someone still thinks the complaints have no impact.

When a government feels he can do whatever pleases it, the people too will show the government they also have a choice on what to do even if it is at loss. Nonsense!

The greed of one man is beyond imagination. I don’t see the man allowing a free, fair and credible election.
I don’t see him accepting a defeat in 2027 and I don’t see him being man enough to willingly relinquish power. The signs are getting clearer day by day. He will use all the State apparatus and non State actors- thugs MC Oluomo to intimidate all. He is already doing it with politicians. But in all, power belongs to the people and so the people will take back the power when they are ready to, no matter what he does.

Good morning bosses.

Since the movement of jaizbank stock to non interest board in morgan capital, I am unable to trade it. I sent mandate to customer care two times, I called them and all that did not yield any result as I can't not buy or sell.

Please is anyone facing similar problem?

What other platform can I try?
Thank you.
I experienced same issue on MorganCapital platform. I sent a mail but got no response.

I simply opened a new account with Atlass. In about a week plus, it was active and I could trade Jaiz bank on theirs, even at cheaper fees.

And some of you still believed he is in Aso Rock because he actually won the election.

Many have not forgotten in a hurry that it was Jonathan’s bad governance that paved the way for the APC of Buhari 8yrs and now Tinubu.

Obi remains our best bet. He needs the support of all well meaning Nigerians.

Tinubu is not someone that will accept defeat. He can’t tolerate criticism. He is averse to opposing views and that is why he has been using all State actors against dissenting voices but no matter what he does, he is not God.

Only a very low fraction of builders were forced to by Banks because they provided loans for such projects and lack of adequate collateral

What many do no know is that the Naira didn't really strengthen against the dollar due to policies of government. The dollar has been falling in value since January this year that's the simple reason.
Thank you for pointing it out that he has been proved wrong many times.

However, I do agree that the naira have been relatively stable in recent times, but completely disagree with the reasons Rewane Bismarck adduced.
For me the naira stabilized (not strengthened) simply because the CBN has since secretly abandoned their free float of the naira and resumed defending the naira., Just very recently the CBN spent $4b+ to defend the naira.

The man in question never declared himself a ruler or king over Ghanaians — he's simply the leader of the Igbo community in Ghana.
His title "Eze Ndi Igbo" literally translates to "King of the Igbos in Ghana or leader of Igbos " similar to how other ethnic groups have their own community heads, like Sarkin Fulani...King of Fulanis
What exactly is the problem here?
The man even built a school in Ghana
It is very wrong to go a foreign land and declare yourself as a King of whatever you might want to call it. King denotes utmost authority. They can have a registered association and select their leader but not King.

A king is installed over a territory by virtue of ancestral lineage and tribe. Not over just a group of people from a particular tribe living in a foreign land.

PropertiesRe: Landlord Sold House Before My Rent Expired by sophy17(m): 9:13am On Jul 15, 2025
Cheny00:
Hello Nairalanders,

I need your advice urgently.

I rented a self-contained apartment in Lagos, and my rent is valid until the end of October this year. Just recently, I was informed that the landlord has sold the house.

Now here’s what happened:
• They refunded half of my rent (without my prior agreement),
• And issued me a 3-month notice to vacate.

I never agreed to terminate my tenancy early or to receive a refund — they just gave me the money and served the notice. I feel like I’m being indirectly forced out before the agreed expiration date of my rent.

Please, I want to know:
1. Is this legal under Lagos tenancy law?
2. Can they harass or pressure me out of the house since it’s now sold?
3. What steps can I take if I want to stay until my rent expires in October?

I’ve heard that once rent is paid and acknowledged, even a new landlord must honour the agreement. Is this true?

Please, lawyers and those familiar with Lagos tenancy law, I’d appreciate your input. I don’t want to be bullied or treated unfairly and also 3 months is too short for me

Thanks in advance!
Please note that whatever I say here is based on my training as a Lawyer.

A landlord has a legal right to sell his property.

The new owner of the property automatically becomes your Landlord.

As your landlord he has the right to issue you quit notice but the said notice cannot expire before the expiration of your current rent.

The length of notice you’re entitled to is determined by the tenancy agreement signed between you and your initial landlord, but in the absence of that, it will be determined by the provisions of the Lagos State tenancy Law which outlines duration of quit notice based on length of rent paid eg whether Monthly, quarterly, Half yearly or Yearly.

Refund of rent or part of ,must be based on mutual agreement.

Acceptance of refund of part rent or unused rent implies agreement on your part to vacate the premises.

Issue of when to vacate is basically another thing.

Conclusion:
Consult your Lawyer so he can write to your Landlord.

Car TalkRe: I Have Gotten Back The 80,000 Naira The Police Extorted From Me Illegally by sophy17(m): 10:19am On Jul 07, 2025
Iceking1:
Hello Nairalanders, about 4 day's ago I created a thread, regarding the extortion of 80,000 naira from me illegally by the police, even when my papers are 100% correct as I did a new plate number after buying the car, so everything regarding the papers are on my name, and all Intact.

For those who missed the thread, here's the link :

https://www.nairaland.com/8466150/police-took-80000-me-yesterday

After creating the thread, It immediately got to the front page and It generated reactions, almost every one (99.9%) of those that commented were against the police because what transpired was truly an extortion. I got countless numbers of positive advices.

Including going on twitter and tag some important personnel on the police force, while trying to do so by opening the profile that I went through, I saw some police numbers on one of the posts by the police, there was a post to call some numbers when one get harassed by the police unnecessarily.

I copied the numbers and gave It a call, they were 5 numbers, and only the very first one I called was what sorted out my predicament.

I called the number and narrated everything to the man that picked up ( Detective Barnabas from CRU) THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH SIR. So, he asked me the location where It happened and the time, he asked me to forward the screenshot of the transaction regarding I and the POS girl I made the transferred to, In which the POS girl stand was directly at the back of the station, and I did forwarded It to his whatsapp.

He acted so very swiftly, he swinged Into action with immediate effect, I called him yesterday and I got my complete money back today.

After telling him the area It happened and exact location, also the station they took my car to. He called the area commander with immediate effect, and the area commander swinged into action immediately.

I was called to come to the station this afternoon to identify the men involved, but unfortunately they weren't around. I went home hoping to go tomorrow as told, to come and identify them.

But to my utmost surprise, the police in charge of the case called me barely an hour ago that they've recovered back my money, he gave me cash, 80,000 completely.

I want to use this medium to thank Nairaland and Nairalanders, you made this possible, I would not have gotten anything from that money if not for you all, coupled with the fact that I would also get more future harrassments.

Below are photos of the cash I was refunded, in full.

Thank you Nairaland and Nairalanders, you've done what no one else have done for me, In all my life and day to day existence, thank you so very much.

I greatly appreciate.

Thank you 🙏

FamilyRe: My Marriage Is Shaking: I Settle All Bills Abroad by sophy17(m): 11:07am On Jun 27, 2025
Liazz:
Am I being unreasonable being mad at my wife?
We relocated abroad 3 years ago but she isn't helping to settle any of the bills.

We both are gainfully employed though I earn much than she does. Our monthly expenditure is about £2000 and she doesn't care to help in any way. I foot all bills making me struggle to save while she keeps all she earns to herself. We also had a loan of over 10 thousand pounds to settle when we relocated, she didn't help with a dime till I paid all bits by bits which took me almost 2 years.

Despite this, I still help with house chores like taking care of our kids, home cleaning and even washing dishes though she does all the cooking.
I've expressed my displeasure several times but she keeps insisting I can't force her to financially assist, it's my job as I'm the husband. She seems convinced she isn't doing any wrong and no sign of remorse whatsoever.

I financed our relocation 100% without her contributing a dime.

This is causing a strain in the marriage and I am thinking if I am unreasonable in my demand, am I?
Your comments are highly welcome.
You are in deep shit and may likely sink and get completely consumed in it. Most men make this mistake from day one in their relationship with women by believing and behaving as if the man is and must be the ultimate provider thereby laying this nonsense foundation in their marriage.
Many ladies too are wired that way believing that their money is theirs while the husband’s money is for the whole family.

I once made the mistake while dating but corrected it before marriage when I learnt my lesson. I was shocked to see and realize that my new girlfriend now wife of over 23years, even as a student never visited my house empty handed! She contributed something no matter how little and I immediately saw the difference compared to those I had been dating who always collect and never contributed anything.

Insisting she assist with her income now may lead to serious marital problem except you’re ready for it. Train your daughter to be a better wife to her future husband and your son not to fall into this trap and choose wisely.
I have many advice for you sha but don’t have the time to type

This is where you need more than one broker or account.

I know someone. His oldest account has UCAP at 4000%, NAHCO at 2000%. He did massive accumulation during COVID.

But on his younger account, they are just around 300% there. He said he's ready to sell them as soon as he sees a better deal.
Then his average or actual percentage gain on his Nahco investment is way below 2000%.

So that cannot be a good reason to have more than one brokerage account.

This 100k single buy and sell rule before a price change for stocks need to be expunged or exempted for some stocks.

This is what has been holding down the price of Airtel Africa. Who is ready to release 100k single trade now? And worst still if the first in line on the buy side is not up to 100k units there will be no price change.

You have a choice not to fill a new mandate form.

When I had similar issue sometime ago with my Airtel dividend and I was asked to fill e dividend mandate, I replied that I already did and that I have been receiving dividend and I attached evidence of previous dividend payment received from them. I told them I can only fill another one if I was mandating a new bank account .

You are beating about the bush. My top reasons are:
Inability to secure Residency documents which automatically frustrates every other things especially getting a job.
Committing crime resulting in being haunted by Security agents.
Deportation
Some also return voluntarily having realized they are better off back home financially.
Some are just tired and retired, after spending many years doing menial jobs or experiencing all sorts of discrimination and wants to establish a business back home and run it themselves.

I have peace of mind since I stopped this
two things
1) going to church
2)trying hard to impress people

Most of these modern churches don't have God In them, it's just business and slavery, they set up these churches for the sole purpose of profit tithes, offering and the members are slaves or stepping stones, they keep pressuring you to bring more members to the church in guise of soul winning you will just waste all your time and productive years if you are not careful.

As for the latter, you can never impress people impossible! Stop trying to impress people because it is an endless journey you want to embark on,you will never impress them, I personally don't give a damn! Sometimes last year a lot of my friend and family members always insult me saying I am lazy and ambition less they say it the reason why I am not doing well in life .
I heard their advice and became hardworking God willing things started to change for me financially ,money started coming in,did you know most of these my friends and family started becoming envious and jealous ,these are the same people that always advise me in the past now what happened?
My observation about people is that humans love bad news more than good news, people will more excited to hear you went to steal and got caught than to hear you bought a new car,so why worry yourself over people who are mostly sadists ... grin
Congratulations.
I stopped going to Church more than 25years ago and I have no regrets.
Stop trying to please people too especially friends and family rather do good according to your ability especially to strangers who you can see needs help. It doesn’t have to be money.
About impressing people, I have never done it.

20 Japanese refineries import all their crude oil in the petro-currency, dollars.
Japan has no crude oil.
But they sell refined products to the domestic market in the local currency. They must also be exporting, but I assume that all operations are done at profit to the refineries..

Nigeria's private refineries should pay for every drop of our crude oil in the petro currency, dollars.
To do otherwise would deplete our external reserves and subsidize the export trade of private entities.
It will also be subsidizing, unfortunately, both land and sea smuggling of cheap refined products out of the country.

Nigerian refineries will operate even more profitably than their Japanese counterparts because "importing" crude oil from home will eliminate freight (shipping) and Maritime insurance costs from the landing cost, than would be the case if importing crude from abroad.
The same advantage for Petroleum marketers, than if importing products from abroad.

Summary, private refineries should procure crude oil from wherever found, or pay for our own at the international price and currency, then sell products to domestic offtakers at whatever conversion rate that makes them profit, but not in foreign currency.

Competition should checkmate monopoly and excessive price hiking.

I'm just an ordinary citizen observing the Oligarch and the Cabal at each other's throats for control of the nation's petroleum fortunes.
For me, Our local refineries must be allowed to buy crude oil in our local currency but at the official exchange rate. Govt can continue to sell in dollars to foreign buyers.
Asking them to source dollars to buy crude oil locally and then sell in Naira locally cannot help anyone or the larger economy on the long run. It will only worsen the volatility of our naira and worsen the inflation.

Hello friends, so I met this lady in 2022 and we plan to settle down early next year. But the problem is, she's gonna clock 36 in December.

I heard about ladies and their biological clock plus menopause etc. I dont know, considering women's biological clock, is it advisable for a 40 year old man to marry a 36y/o?
Does a good product stay long on the shelf?
Of course no. The fact that she remained unmarried up till about 36 yrs is a red flag and you need a lot of digging to know why.
Now talking about reproduction and menopause, she is obviously nearer to her menopause than farther from it at 36. Do your research, most women who are above 30 cannot have normal delivery except through C section.
My wife had our 1st born at 21 and our last born at almost 26. I have the best marriage. She is entering her menopause now at 42.

This thing is not debatable as it glaring for you to see. Don’t marry out of pity.
