Romance / Re: Unbelieveable! I Am Still A Virgin At 24! by Southsea: 7:51am On Sep 22, 2011
Lalaska:

ok. i'm compelled to make a comment here. I just clocked 28 and I can boldly say by the Grace of God I'm still a virgin. Ive asked God to help me keep myself until marriage. This is the greatest wedding gift i intend to give my spouse and moreso marriage is honorable unto all and the bed undefiled. This is my greatest achievement by the Grace of God

@ Lalaska, I find this interesting. However, do you have a girlfriend and what does she feel about your decision?
Career / Re: CFA Candidates In The House by Southsea: 9:51am On Jan 19, 2011
@ Elowa,

Heard the sad news, guess it shows that Ghana is no longer reliable. Think CFA should start thinking of using Lagos or Abuja.
Politics / Re: Arewa Group Seeks Another Consensus Candidate by Southsea: 4:14pm On Jan 05, 2011
The statements made by Maigari are illogical, zoning is a PDP affair so you can't say the presidency belongs to the North. People are conviently forgeting that this country has 6 political zones and the South South (Niger Delta) largely responsible for over 80% of the country's foreign currency earnings has not ruled Nigeria until GEJ. With people like (not so smart) Maigari running this "consensus programme" for the North you can be sure that they will not go far.

@Chairmani
Think you should take it easy with this UK degree you have, five years ago it might have done the magic. But now M.sc from anywhere and everywhere na water. A lot of ppl have it in the country and they are still looking for jobs.

Bodejohn's post is to be the most truthful, seems he works(ed) with P&G. Guy, even if you have a doctorate degre from Harvard plus a million years working experience with unilever you will still have to start at the entry level. EVERYBODY starts at ENTRY LEVEL. Salary issues happen to be one of the most guarded secrets in the company but to avoid further speculation it is less than 4m and more than 3.5mil. I don't know what frunctional area you applied for but if you applied as an Assistant Brand Manager (which is the entry level position for the marketing guys) then you have yourself a good deal in tems of career progression.

@ibkaa

Guess you have never been told that some pieces of information are released on a need to know basis. What impression did I give you or anyone? Thot you said you were new to Nairaland, how come you want to set the rules for a thresd that has been on for over 10months.

Do you know how many of the previous posters that have been called and have since stopped posting? (wey no send other people). Suppose you should go and learn one or two things about social networking before responding to my post or posting any other thing.

N.B the stuff about fears of other people taking my job is a product of low critical reasoning.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by Southsea: 8:54am On Mar 08, 2010
I never said I work in the HR unit, what I said was that I applied for a position in the HR team. I also did not say everybody will be called this year ( the SRD test is valid for 36 months). I'm not sure the graduate recruitment programme will run in Nigeria this year b'cos of the number of successful candidates waiting to enter. However, if the SITP prog runs this year that will be good news for commercial grads. cos it means it will reduce the number of succesful candidates waiting to be called, if not,

Yes got an offer in December, resumed January. By now you should know averages don't work with Shell. So I might not be able to tell you how soon you may be called. Moreover there are successfu guys from my SRD batch that have not been called. I applied for a position in HR, so it's untrue that things are only happening with Finance and IT. Furthermore, the number of succesful candidates is just too much that even if 10 ppl were called it will appear as if no body has been called. However, be rest assured that everybody that was successful at the SRD will be called. it's just a question of when.

Heard a few guys have been called again for medicals recently (this week to be precise). Guess some depts. in the finance team need to fill positions ASAP.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by Southsea: 9:07am On Feb 15, 2010
@SITP guys in 2009, I have heard nothing about this year's prog. does it mean that the guys that were unable to make it last year will fill this year's batch or that the prog. has been scrapped?
Career / Re: Is An MBA Prestigious In Nigeria? by Southsea: 12:38pm On Jan 14, 2010
AjanleKoko:

Not true.
LBS has never been rated in any ranking I have seen, not since they became Pan-African University.
Their affiliate school, IESE Navarro, is the rated B-School, not LBS. Prior to their getting a license, LBS was awarding IESE degrees.

Guy, what's not true? guess you should check financial times' ranking conducted by KPMG. LBS ranked 50, 47 and 53 in open enrollment education in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively. I guess the case method gives it an edge even thugh there are a lot of areas that can be developed by the school.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by Southsea: 1:45pm On Jan 11, 2010
The number of succesful candidates from the SRDs (supply) is in excess when compared to the openings in the group(demand). therefore what they are doing is to recruit peeps in batches. However, candidates might not feel the impact of the recruitment 'cos a batch might just have 2 or 3 peeps which is an insignificant number when compared with the no of candidates that have their application on hold. Hopefully Feb might be a good month as most divisions might start to ask for peeps.
I also guess that despite the 36 months blah blah most candidates will be recruited this year 'cos the graduate recruitment programme is an annual ptogramme and it is only logical that they should have placed all succesful candidates before starting another round of campaigns.
Career / Re: Best Paying Company In Nigeria? by Southsea: 7:40am On Dec 30, 2009
tunene:

which company is your own.
Shell.

wwheelz:

Gentlemen,

On page 5, crowcedar indicated a fresh graduate take home pay of N500k.

I'm familiar with the pay structure in oil and gas but cannot claim to know the figures for entry level. Still, I have my doubts about N500k net for a fresh graduate as in no experience.
Guy, think that might be a good est. of what peeps in commercial roles earn in Shell. However, can't say muh abt technical roles esp. with their SITP prog.

@ Digerati have u heard anything yet? Did u have an informal interview before the medicals?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by Southsea: 2:00pm On Dec 17, 2009
@ tot, make no mistake some peeps with whom we had the SRD (suppose those with the highest scores and business fit in vacant positions) have joined the company.

Just thinking aloud, succesful technical grads that could not make SITP this year have their results valid for 12 months. considering the fact that only a small percentage have been absorbed into technical roles what will happen to the others?

Yep got the 36 months blah blah mail. Very true Shell is restructuring but don't think they have started laying ppl off. From what I gathered the massive lay off would be for top mgrs and should affect the number of positions available for new guys. Let's hope the restructuring ends pretty soon 'cos it's a global initiative that will see 5,000 jobs being axed (not much if u consider Shell's workforce).

Applied for a position in HR, guess they are calling ppl in batches. Heard some peeps have resumed from the May-August recruitment campaign. Thanks Digerati
