Well, I am a realist. Much as there are happy endings in life, there are sad endings as well. Good things do not only happen to good people neither do bad things happen to only bad people. Most people give a happy ending to their stories but only few end their stories tragically.
Do all my stories end tragically? No, I mostly allow the characters dictate the course of the story.

Now, I am curious to know why you think I only write shorts...

Okay. I have theories which does not in any way stand as facts.

First theory. You are a realist and a very good writer. You could make your stories longer but that would only set up your readers for disappointment. When a story is gripping and the main character is likeable readers tend to generally expect happy endings. Writing it short keeps their expectations reasonable and not over blown.

Second theory. You have less time to work a short story into a long one and you are eager to get your point across to your readers.

Third theory. This is the most ridiculous but often true. You are mostly a lazy writer. tongue

Like I said it's just theories. Don't take me too seriously

Cool. I really do like the way you write. You don't believe all stories should have a happy ending. There is always something to learn in every tragic ending. I think I understand why you mostly write short stories too. I think I'm typing alot now, I should put my keyboard away.

I don't understand all the bashing the Op is getting. He shared "his opinion". You can disagree with him but the insults aren't necessary. I can buy surprise gifts for a girlfriend but that doesn't make it a responsibility. I respect girls depending on their level of independence. I can't pay for your hair everytime it gets old or recharge your line everytime it gets low. What I'm trying to say is a "girlfriend" should have a level of independence and not overly dependent like an slowpoke.
