You need to show proof that you have been living together with your spouse for 2 years. Make sure you have docs dating at least as far back as 2 years showing this. It is more helpful if some of the docs are in both of your names (joint).

Also have you done Life in UK Test? If not, you need to do well before the time as the certificate is one of the crucial docs when submitting your application.

Your husband's passport will be needed if you are applying on spouse basis. It will benefit you to go for the same day ILR service when applying so his passport his not held for too long.

You can google Immigration Board Forum and check out the indefinite leave to remain section. You will find a lot of answers to your questions there.

Best of luck
Business / Re: Ghanaian Authorities Shut Nigerian Shops, Make Arrests by sparkle(f): 11:54am On Sep 15, 2010
Gbawe you are doing a good job here – by educating some Nigerians on Nairaland who keep putting the country down. It seems some of us have started believing what other countries are saying about us – that we are all no good and bad news. Of course it is not true. We are always too quick to judge ourselves harshly which is the reason why other non-Nigerians would come on this forum to heap abuses on us. We need to change our mindset and start walking tall and selling ourselves in a much better way. I am always aghast by the comments of some Nairalanders never seeing anything good about Nigeria. They are always quick to side with the haters of Nigeria. I don’t get it. I have never seen any other Nationals condemning their countries in front of others as much as Nigerians – even where they have reasons to do so.

@Shesi - on the contrary I disagree.  Gbawe is supplying very important factual information.  So many Nigerians have wrong misconception about Ghanaians.   It is important Nigerians wishing to invest in Ghana know what they are up against.  I truly commend Gbawe for exposing the lies and hypes Ghana is all about.
Romance / Re: Hear Out My Story Please. Tell Me What To Do! by sparkle(f): 11:20am On Jul 16, 2010
Olumide I do believe people come into our lives for diff reasons. I believe this wonderful girl's purpose in your life was to straighten you out and she has fulfilled her role. From what I could deduce from your post, you are not meant to end up as life time partners - albeit you have a great deal of lrespect and love for her. If you end up marrying her, I suspect your reason would be merely to pay her back for standing by you and for pity. This would be a disaster and I think you would end up doing both of yourselves an injustice. Stop beating yourself too hard over the fact you owe her and you are not fulfilling your part. It is better you both move on with your lives and be truthful with her. You are simply not ready (if at all) to commit to this lovely lady. I believe her role in your life has been played and done with. Save both yourselves further misery and let her go.
Good luck
Travel / Re: Coming To The Uk: Is It Easier To Come To Uk As A Spouse Than As A Student? by sparkle(f): 2:31pm On Oct 13, 2009
Better still, why dont you invite her as your fiance. That way you both get to know each other. I think she stands a better chance of getting a fiance visa than as tourist.

Best wishes

TOS - congratulations. I told you with God anything is possible

Well done
Travel / Re: Concern Over Uk Spousal Visa - Very Urgent by sparkle(f): 12:01am On Jan 11, 2008
Tos -

Your wife is entitled to child benefit and tax credit and you do not need to worry about the non-disclosure since you have already declared she is on income support.

I think you should work more on how to convice the ECO that you will not recourse to public funds when you get to London.

You have nothing to worry about. The fact that you have £4000 as saving is a plus also your qualification as a qualified accountant. Your wife been a nurse, should not find it difficult to find a job. What you also have as an added advantage to your case are your children.

Also do not underestimate power of prayers. There is nothing God cannot do. Fear not and trust in the Lord

Best wishes.

And please don't forget to pray for favour. I have seen an application made without all evidence required, but the ECO was so kind enough to call this guy and request for the evidence to be presented within 3days. HSMP visa was issued to this man on the 5th day after presenting the evidence required.

This is divine favour at work.

For all applicants, i wish you best of luck and divine intervention to bring favourable outcome. Afterall, God owns the land and the fullness thereof.

Bye for now.

I agree. Do not underestimate the power of divine intervention.

I submitted my application for spouse visa on 22nd October. I was asked to check back on 5th November. My husband rang them on 31st to find out if my application been dealt with - (I thought he was been over optimistic but he told me to trust in the lord).
He was told that I could come as it was ready. He was not told the outcome though. I went on 1st and lo and behold when I opened the big brown package, I saw the stamped spouse visa in my passport.
I see it as a miracle as we were not expecting to get it that easily without going through an interview. A lot of preparation towards collecting of evidence backed with prayer is the key

Thank you She rocks.

The applicant actually resides in Nigeria presently
Travel / Settlement Visa by sparkle(f): 10:46am On Jul 11, 2007
Dear Nairalanders

Advice needed please. How long does it usually take for a settlement visa to be processed. Also is it possible for the applicant to request back for passport in order to travel - if the processing visa will take a long time?
Does it then mean applicant will have to reapply i.e. start all over again, should passport be resent.

Thank you

I prefer dealing with any other race (except the eastern europeans) except Nigeria, but if I am forced to choose a Nigerian I will do business with a Northerner i.e. Hausa

Most ignorant statement.  A friend of mine used to have the same mindset till he was duped of large amount of money by a Northerner (Hausa).

There are fraudulent people in all races

Dear Nairaland users, I would be grateful if someone could advise.

My sister's appeal has been granted. She is been asked to bring her passport, 2 photographs and evidence supporting funds e.g. statement.

As her sponsor in UK - will my statement be sufficient for her to take along or does she need to take her own bank statement as well. I will be taking care of her needs and buying her ticket and have stated thus in her application - so am a bit baffled.

She has been asked to attend the British Embassy btwn 7-7.30am. Had any one been invited and what is the queue like. Would she automatically be allowed in.
