PoliticsRe: Biafra Agitation EU Call On Nigeria To Hold Referendum In 90 Days #saharareport by Spicygal: 12:06pm On Jan 22, 2016
Buking1:
Federica Mogherini, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security has replied Biafra agitators and the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) over their call for a referendum.

The OEAS had earlier requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security utilizes their good office to help bring about a referendum for Biafra’s independence.

The OEAS also called for release of all Biafran political prisoners, a stand down of Nigerian forces, and a snap referendum to be held within 90 days.

In response to their request, Mogherini replied Dr., Jonathan Levy, OEAS Chief Administrative Officer, stressing that, the European Union’s official position is that while it has strong diplomatic and economic ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.”

The EU went on to advise the OEAS and Biafrans that self-determination and border changes must be in accordance with established international law. The OEAS has called for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy. The EU has indicated it will only recognize a Biafra born via international law and not armed secession.

To achieve a referendum, the OEAS advises all nonviolent means should be utilized including general strikes, economic boycotts, work actions, demonstrations, lawsuits, and civil disobedience. Nigeria is a member of The International Labor Organization (ILO). The ILO recognizes the right to engage in general strikes and the right to strike is also recognized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 (Article 8(1)(d)).

So where did call for Referendum? Misleading topic.

Anyway, the OEAS has advised strike so let those who have no value for their jobs embark on strike. their jobs will another take!
PoliticsRe: Nnamdi Kanu Versus Nigeria: What I Saw In A Dream by Spicygal: 9:34pm On Jan 21, 2016
Don't mind them jare, I also saw the dream. Busses were loaded with thousands of Omo ibo, and they were bundled out of every city and dropped at Onitcha bridge. Shops became cheap, houses became cheaper, traffic was gone in Lagos. Very few industrious Omo igbos lived in Lagos.

Some sneaked in but every week, those caught were shipped out.

And when they were dropped at the bridge, they laughed....

PoliticsWhy Cursing Nigeria Is Bad For You! by Spicygal(op): 6:52pm On Jan 01, 2016
Over the last few months, a lot of people have cursed Nigeria and called it derogatory names. Some called it the zoo while others used more colorful terms. If you are not in Nigeria and you curse Nigeria, you may be exempt but if you are in Nigeria even for a while you shouldn't curse Nigeria. If you work, do business or hope to make any success in Nigeria and have been cursing Nigeria, go and repent today and do so no more.

If you curse the land then the land becomes cursed unto you! Not to others but unto you. If you curse the land then it will bring forth thorns for you and you will eat in painful toil. If you say, am I not already eating in painful toil? Then wait till the land brings forth the fruit of your words. Read Gen 3.

So my message to you is this, if you pray for any success or prosperity this year then bless the land.

Happy New Yeat
PoliticsRe: Should Igbos Start Selling Their Landed Property In Lagos, Please Check Reasons by Spicygal: 11:31pm On Dec 30, 2015
Our current cost of governance is too high, I think we should regionalize. That will reduce the ethnic issues as you can't blame someone in Abuja for your failure as a region.

The truth is each region is viable and would flourish.

Pavore9:
That is a different perspective all together. I am more pro-regionalism as against what is presently obtainable as so much is spent on 'elected officials' as against development. Take the 5 South Eastern states as example which when combined is about the size of Kogi state alone but it has 5 governors and their deputies with their countless aides, close to 100 commissioners, 15 Senators, almost 50 House of Rep members, over 100 members of State House of Assemblies all these costs within a region the size of Kogi State! sad
PoliticsRe: Should Igbos Start Selling Their Landed Property In Lagos, Please Check Reasons by Spicygal: 11:01pm On Dec 30, 2015
Nigeria? Nigeria will cease to exist, once one group ceceeds then the others would too. So it's either we have a United Nations of Ngeria made up of at least 5 self controlled territories like the UAE or 5 independent nations.

We are only Nigeria when we are all together.

Pavore9:
Read the post l responded to get the context of my post you quoted. Even if South East becomes Biafra, l will still have an option to retain my Nigerian Passport!

Just like that? You can live anywhere? So why not move to London? Or Canada?

No you cannot live in another country without documentation and authorization.

So hopefully soon enough, you will relocate grin grin

Pavore9:
I will always have a choice to live anywhere except there is war!

i support a mass exodus

grin grin grin grin grin
FisifunKododada:
cool Bia be realistic. If Nigeria is not willing to let any part of it break away what other options do you have? EVERY country will do ANYTHING to protect their territorial integrity. 620,000 Americans were slaughtered in the civil war to protect America's territorial integrity. Today, any Southern American state (like Texas etc.) that tries to break away will be pummeled into submission. Tibet (with the support of world powers) has been trying to break away from China since 1793 with no success. China has jailed, tortured and killed many of them into submission. Now all they have left is to use diplomatic means but since China is not interested in letting them go, its not gonna happen. And if you think Japan and South Korea are diplomatic role models why don't you see what we happen if ANY part of those two countries try to break away. Ojukwu took Biafra to war against Nigeria in 1967 and the Nigerian military WON the war by beating Biafra/Ojukwu to submission. With Ojukwu sacrificing 2 million Biafrans in the process of showing how 'tough' he was. Why should Nigeria now hand over what her brave soldiers fought valiantly to keep? The Igbos best bet is to go to war and if (A VERY BIG IF) they win the war against Nigeria then they can take their pick of any territory in the country. The ONLY way diplomatic means MIGHT work is if their is a massive EXODUS of Igbos from all over the country back to the East. If other Nigerians start seeing their Igbos neighbors relocate en masse back to the east, then out of compassion these Nigerians will put pressure on the government to allow the Igbos to have their own country.Other Nigerians will start joining the Igbos in protest for the actualization of Biafra. That is when you will start hearing Nigerians saying things like, "na by force, these poor people are already moving out, please govt. stop been stubborn and let them have their own country - they deserve it." But you and I know that a mass exodus of Igbos will NEVER happen. MOST Igbos would rather live outside of Biafra than within Biafran - this is the reality of the matter and no amount of noise making on the internet will change this.
PoliticsRe: Biafra: “let Biafrans Go With Their Oil, We Will Find Other Means Of Survival” - by Spicygal: 3:30pm On Dec 26, 2015
The truth is they don't want to go, it's more of an attention seeking style that has backfired.

A woman who wants the husband to live her but instead chose to daily curse the husband, her fellow wives and her home. Now she has incurred the hatred of those she seeks their love.

I mean if they are serious, where is the exodus, where are their structures?

Of course those that own properties would retain them within the ambit if the new land act law that may be introduced. Those who will meet the land purchase requirements too will acquire land.

The right of residency however is not guaranteed for those who aren't massively contributing to the economy of the west so definitely a few millions will vacate Lagos.

Local content law will be promoted so all those in private employ, civil servic etc will follow the international expatriate quota system.

Bottom line with the creation of your new country, there will be a lot of returnees.

For this sole reason, I support you guys massively.
Know2020:
If Biafra is restored, Biafrans shall continue to own and acquire properties in Lagos and within Nigeria within the confines of international laws.

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).
@Seun

Let me add that you should have employed a PR specialist to advice you on this. Your tittle should appear neutral even if you had something else in mind.

It shouldn't have been addressed to any specific tribe or group. It should have simply said,

Dear Nairalanders,

Nairaland is devoted to promoting Nigeria as a single indivisible entity. As such we do not subscribe to being used to promote any secessionist theory or goal.

To this end all posts that promote division or session in whatever form will no longer be allowed on Nairaland, as it goes against our values. This new rule will therefore affect all calls for Biafra, Oodua Republic, Niger Delta Republic, Arewa Republic etc

Violation of this new rule will attract an automatic ban.

Thank you for understanding and I hope your stay on Nairaland continues to be fun, engaging and insightful.

God Bless Nairaland, God Bless Nigeria.

Wishing the best of the Season and a wonderful 2016.

I am Yoruba and indifferent to the cause of Biafra. At a point I definitely felt the expression of inter-tribal hatred by all parties was on the extreme. I expected that your group will create words that could be censored, making it difficult to post threads with those word. However any change in spelling and the world will escape being censored.

Moderating every post and every thread would also be very labour intensive and that might be the reason for an outright ban.

I however suggest you comb through all these comments for possible solutions, maybe transfer all such posts to a hidden section or something but this outright ban doesn't seat too well.

Think about it.

PoliticsRe: Will Biafrans Need Work Permit In Nigeria? by Spicygal: 10:13pm On Dec 04, 2015
Yes they do.

Dedetwo:
Do Nigerians need work permit in Ghana? What benefits have Nigeria earned from work permits and taxations of foreign businesses till date? Biafra will be accorded all diplomatic pedigrees as given to nations as member of AU. Nigeria or whatever comes out of disintegrated Nigeria shall be accorded the same lawful pedigree in Biafra. I do not know why most Nigerians jump into the mindset of hostility the moment Biafra is mentioned. Czechoslovakia is longer one country and two countries out of the it are happily related.
PoliticsRe: Will Biafrans Need Work Permit In Nigeria? by Spicygal: 10:12pm On Dec 04, 2015
Really??.

Sorry to disappoint you, the Ecowas treaty does not give you a right to work or reside permantly in their country.

Take GhAna for example, it's so damn hard to extend your coy branch to Ghana. CAC is not recognized, you have to register as a legal entity in Ghana.

They are also local content driven, you can't just post your staff from Nigeria, you must employ Ghanaian staff and justify to the govt why you need your Nigerian staff in Ghana.

There's no free lunch anywhere o

zendy:
If you look at the top of the Nigerian passport, you will see "ECOWAS" embossed on it. What this means is that any of the 15 member nation in the ECOWAS sub-region can travel, live and work in each other's countries, including Nigeria, without the need for visa or work permit. Biafra will apply to join ECOWAS and that application is likely to be accepted since Biafra is in West Africa and used to be a member under Nigeria. When Biafra joins ECOWAS, they will be free to travel to any part of Nigeria, live and work without any work permit unless Nigeria pulls out of ECOWAS.

For manufacturing maybe, but not for trading.

The banks would fund young entrepreneurs who will identify areas where demand outweighs supply and channel people into it.

Only job roles tha can't be filled locally and no one can be trained for it will be open to non Ooduas.

We will promote local content first.

Investors with suitable funds would also be given rights first but we will enact laws that will prevent capital flight.

Work is going on......

No Problem, it's easy to all us names yet Ifedilichukwu pack your brothers in big busses to our land daily.

Cursing on social media is cheap, let us see the bravery! Move to your own land!

A brave man doesn't cry, let me go when no one is holding him.

He simply goes.

How are Yorubas and Hausas holding you? By the hand or leg?

A brave man doesn't beg for permission o go.

Show bravery and leave! Stop begging us to let you go, Go!

simpleseyi:
Yorubas are w cowards, they were defeated by the Dahoma women but they then transferred the aggression to the Biafrans and used over 3 million Biafrans for peeper soup and suya and your women and girls as sex slaves between 1967 and 1970. Also in 2014, Babatunde Fashola another Yoruba coward picked up several Biafrans from Lagos under bridges and packed them into a lorry, then dumped them at Upper Iweka in Onitsha at about 3:00am early in the morning. An Edo man called Solomon Arase who is the current I.G. also ordered several Biafran protesters to be shot in Onitsha this week. Why are Yorubas always transferring the aggression to Biafrans?

If it is peaceful, you will have the time to value it and sell it to whoever you wish if. It's a building.

If it's a factory, then you may be given the rights to run it but with local content (oodua staff).

If it is wares, you will ship it to Biafra or auction it in in Lagos.

If it's not peaceful, th government will acquire it, value it and pay you in Biafrans currency.
