Majority Of Senators Are Still With Saraki – Wamakko By Jonathan Nda-Isaiah — Sep 28, 2015 2:13 am | Leave a comment Former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has dismissed media reports that there are plots to replace the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, due to his ongoing case with the Code of Conduct Tribunal, saying that majority of the senators are with Saraki. He also dismissed reports that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are planing to take over the Senate, insisting that the claim is mere propaganda. Wamakko stated this during a chat with journalists in Abuja. He added that such reports against Saraki were mere imaginations of the authors on the grounds that the present reality in the Senate did not tally with the reports. He said unknown to many, President Muhammadu Buhari had nothing to do with Saraki’s present ordeal. He said, ‘’ I see President Buhari, Saraki and senators holding a meeting very soon on how to salvage democracy which certain elements have been trying to subvert. They will find time to meet to stop our opponents from progressing with acts to sabotage of democracy. “Once the President and the Senate leadership sit on a round table with a resolve to re-oil the wheels of democracy for national progress, the cynics, the political rabble-rousers and those who never mean well for the APC government will go to sleep”. According to him, the removal of Saraki as being canvassed by those he described as faceless groups outside the National Assembly will end up as an ill-wind that will blow no good for the Senate, democracy and Nigeria. He said, “Majority of senators weeks ago passed a vote of confidence in Saraki because they were convinced that his style of leadership has been broad and progress- inclined. Nothing has changed. Majority of our colleagues still believe that Saraki remains a stabilising factor in the Senate for now. Wamakko said Saraki shares the same ideology of ‘change’ with Buhari, stating that every step so far taken by the Senate had been inclined towards promoting the change mantra, with national progress at the core of all considerations by Senators. http://leadership.ng/news/463639/majority-of-senators-are-still-with-saraki-wamakko |

Surprisingly, our ethno-religious President has never considered the herdsmen menace an issue. Apart from Boko Haram, he prefers to talk about Niger Delta militants even when his Fulani herdsmen have claimed much more lives than Niger Delta militants. The man has easily won the title of most tribalised President since independence |
They will want to use a South South man to attack. Amaechi will most likely replace Oshiomole as their spokesman. |
In their first visit, they claimed some unnamed US officials gave them a list of some very corrupt officials from the last administration. They themselves later disowned Edo governor Oshiomole by denying the existence of any such list. They told us through Adams Oshiomole that the US officials showed them documents of a minister from last administration who stole and is keeping $6.5b in a US bank. Buhari himself claimed a certain minister was stealing 1m barrels of crude oil every day and that he has evidence that over the last decade over $150b has been stolen. I am wondering what their next lie and propaganda will be this time. Adams Oshiomole did not travel with them but I am just wondering who their next spokesman will be and the allegations this time around |
TGM2015:IPPIS was deeply implemented. They also commenced implementation of TSA but did not make so much noise about it. The Buhari/APC govt are very loud, very very loud. They first run to the media, sing, dance before they come back to plan. |
FORMER President, Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that the introduction of innovations such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) by the ex-Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance during his administration, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, are some of the qualities that led to her two new global positions. Okonjo-Iweala was appointed at the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI), an international public-private partnership committed to saving the lives of children and protecting people’s health by improving access to immunization in developing countries, including Nigeria. The second appointment is as Senior Adviser, Lazzard, by a 167 years old global investment firm. Jonathan’s assertion is contained in a congratulatory message to Okonjo-Iweala, where he described her appointment as a great honour to the nation, especially coming “soon after serving Nigeria as Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance in my administration.” He further described her as an achiever whose leadership as the head of his economic management team, brought about the successful implementation of far-reaching reforms in many sectors including power, telecoms, agriculture, financial services and infrastructural development. Giving more details of Okonjo-Iweala’s achievements, the former President wrote: “Through your vision, the nation was able to implement some rewarding reforms in public financial management including the launch of the Treasury Single Account to boost dwindling revenue, as well as the introduction of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, which eliminated thousands of ghost workers from the public service system.” http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/09/okonjo-iwealas-innovations-led-to-tsa-ippis-says-jonathan/

Kunle Aderinokun Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) has given a breakdown of the cost and commitments of the Second Niger Bridge project, which has been a subject of controversy in recent times. According to a document THISDAY obtained from NSIA, the Second Niger Bridge project, which is being undertaken by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc-NSIA Motorway Investment Company Ltd (JB-NMIC) Consortium was estimated to cost $700 million- that is, N108 billion (at the then exchange rate of N154/$). NMIC is a transport subsidiary of NSIA. The Second Niger Bridge project comprises Phases 1, 2a and 2b and includes a southern bypass of both Asaba and Onitsha cities with an approximate total length of 44km. The phase 1 of the project, which is the bridge and adjacent roads, is approximately 11.9 kilometres and will be constructed and operated under a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The bridge will comprise a 3.31 kilometre-long road section on the Delta side, including a 500 metre-long toll plaza; a 1.59 kilometres tolled concrete box-girder bridge with two superstructures; and a 7.0 kilometre-long road section on the Anambra side. It is expected that the bridge would be constructed and delivered in 48 months. When completed, the bridge and approach roads will have six lanes with three in each direction. Phase 2a is connected to the Asaba-Benin Expressway while Phase 2b is connected to the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway. Phases 2a and 2b together constitute the feeding approach roads. Out of the N108 billion project cost, the Federal Government has already made a commitment to contribute N30 billion, which represented 28 per cent. The JBI-NMIC consortium would raise the remaining funds for the construction, operation and maintenance of the bridge and adjacent roads of Phase 1 under a 25-year concession. The Federal Government has, till date, contributed N18.31billion out of its commitment of N30billion, comprising N8.464billion from SURE-P budget in August 2014 for early works II and a further $50million (about N9.8billion) from its Eurobond loan for the execution of early works III. According to NSIA, otherwise called Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), about N10.4 billion of the fund allocated by the Federal Government has so far been disbursed, leaving a balance of about N7.94 billion of government contribution with the sponsors. Funds have only been disbursed to the contractor upon successful attainment of construction milestones, which have been verified by the Technical Advisor of the Project (WSP Group) and rigorously scrutinised by NSIA. The document, titled: ‘NSIA Detailed Project Update on Second Niger Bridge’, revealed that JB-NMIC as the developers, budgeted $5million for the development of the project, split into $2.5million each. It also revealed that “the consortium assembled a team of advisers with proven capabilities and global experience in PPP infrastructure projects to ensure the Project gets first-class advisory services. This is required to enable the project to reach financial close - the point at which private capital is successfully raised. “The consultants were engaged through a rigorous and competitive procurement process. To date the NSIA has spent the sum of $2.21million on consultancy services provided by its team of advisers. An initial US$247,586 was spent on due diligence exercise to determine the viability of the project. “ NSIA listed the advisers for the due diligence phase to include: FBN Capital (Nigeria) - Financial Advisor, Murty International Limited (Nigeria) – Technical Advisor, White & Case LLP (UK) – Legal Advisor, WSP Group Africa (South Africa) – Technical Advisor, and Zephyrgold International (Nigeria) – Technical Advisor And for the project development phase, the agency listed the advisers as: Africa Finance Corporation (Nigeria) - Financial Advisor, Clifford Chance LLP (UK) – Legal Advisor, Templars (Nigeria) - Legal Advisor, WSP Group Africa (Global) - Technical Advisor, Allot Nigeria Limited (Nigeria) – Traffic Advisor, Takedo International (UK) – Traffic Advisor and Aurecon (South Africa) – Environmental and Social Impact Advisor. As for NSIA/NMIC’s contributions, the document stated: “Since joining the Consortium, NSIA-NMIC have provided significant value addition with respect to the project development. At the initial stage of its involvement, the NSIA undertook a value engineering exercise of the project, which resulted in a reduction of the estimated project cost. NSIA’s involvement also considerably improved the governance structure for the Project and assisted in managing the appointment of independent professional advisers to the Consortium. “Apart from assisting Federal Ministry of Works in the negotiation of the Early Works contracts with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, NSIA is also leading the negotiations of the key commercial terms for the project. In addition, NSIA is leading the capital raising effort for the project. Discussions are being held with Development Finance Institutions and many of them have already made soft commitments to funding the Project.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/swf-provides-details-of-700m-second-niger-bridge-project/220741/
