Ogun Government Provides Update on Ongoing Asphalt Laying Along Alagbole–Akute Road The Ogun State Government has announced steady progress on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Alagbole–Akute Road, confirming that asphalt overlaying is actively underway along the corridor as of Sunday, 16 November 2025. According to the field report released today, contractors carried out a series of preparatory and paving activities to ensure a durable and high-quality finish. The scope of work completed so far includes mechanical sweeping of the road surface, application of colasé (priming) to prepare the base, and asphalt overlaying on the treated sections. Approximately 700 metres of asphalt laying is expected to be completed before the end of today. The government further disclosed that the full stretch of the planned 2.68-kilometre asphalt overlay will be finalized by the close of work tomorrow, Monday. Immediately after the paving works are completed, lane marking will commence to enhance traffic flow, safety, and visibility along the corridor. The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering durable road infrastructure across all local government areas, noting that the Alagbole–Akute axis remains a key intercity link supporting residents, businesses, and daily commuters.

Infrastructure: Ogun Approves New Roads, Housing Estates In a bid to further bolster infrastructure across the state and consolidate on its expanding industrial base, the Ogun State Executive Council, on Friday, approved the construction of another set of roads and housing units across the state. The council took the decisions during the first meeting at the newly commissioned Exco Chamber in the Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun. The Council also ratified the declaration of traditional councils set up for the appointment of some traditional rulers in the state. The roads approved for reconstruction are Miliki Junction – Bode Olude – Alhaji Sugar Avenue in Abeokuta North Local Government; Paddy Arikawe Road, G.R.A. Sagamu, Sagamu Local Government Area, and Itanrin-Sabo Road, Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Local Government Area. The new houses are 26 duplexes comprising 12 five-bedroom detached duplex with two-room attached boys' quarters, and 14 four-bedroom semi-detached duplexes with one-room attached boys' quarters within the Ogun State Housing Corporation Office, Ibara, Abeokuta. Others are nine duplexes comprising five 4-bedroom detached duplex (plus one-room attached boys' quarters, and four four-bedroom semi-detached duplexes within the Ogun State Housing Corporation HID Estate (Iseya Court), Obasanjo Hilltop, Abeokuta. The Council also approved the appointment of Chief Lai Labode as the Are Egba from Abeokuta South and Dr. Oluwadairo Adeleke also from Abeokuta South as the new Ogboye Egba. It further approved the declaration for the appointments of the Ongbeyi in Yewa South Local Government Area, the Olofin of Ijofin in Ipokia Local Government Area, the Elebote of Elebote Iboro in Yewa North and the Awujoko of Ijoko Orile in Yewa North. Others are the Akoko of Tongeji Island in Ipokia Local Government, the Oniwuye in Yewa South, the Opo of Idosemo in Ipokia Local Government, the Alaye of Oniro-Agute I Ipokia Local Government, the Olodan of Odan, and the Abujafole in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

Abiodun Makes History, Inaugurates First Commercial Flight at Gateway International Airport Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, inaugurated the first commercial flight of the Gateway International Airport, Ilishan Remo. The aircraft owned by Valuejet, with registration number 5N-BXS and 90 passengers on board, departed the airport at 10:10 a.m. to Abuja. Speaking at the airport located along the Iperu-Ilisan road in the Ikenne Local Government Area of the State, the governor said the journey to actualize the airport started in 2021 and was part of the vision to provide a well-modeled transport system for the State. He said: "I am glad to be here today to actually witness the inaugural flight of a commercial aircraft taking off from Ogun State; this is not like AI, this is real. Commercial operations are starting from Ogun State in the lifetime of an administration. "We came here in 2021; some people said it was just a photo op, they said it was just politics, they mocked us, and they said this place is nothing but a dump site. Some even said that we were going to use this place as a cattle ranch. "Some others had this airport built on a PowerPoint, but again, we are here today, and we have seen what can be achieved when there is vision, when there is collective vision, inclusive vision, inclusive participation, and when there is passion and diligence. "We began to construct in late 2021; in February 2023, this same Valuejet was the first plane to land on this runway; it was a test flight of our runway. Building an airport is one thing; having an airport become operational is a totally different thing because it is a very highly regulated industry." He emphasized that his administration was determined to have the best-constructed, equipped, and befitting airport for the state, noting that apart from being the industrial capital of the nation, the State is blessed with a population, making it the fastest-growing economy in Nigeria today. The administration's vision, Governor Abiodun maintained, is supported by several business cases, adding that the airport is situated in an Aerotropolis, with many companies springing up, just as the biggest textile plant in the world and the Nigeria Customs Village are sited around the airport. "It speaks for itself; more people are coming to live, work, and play in Ogun State, so this airport makes sense; it ticks the box of our multimodal transport master plan where we connect roads to rail to air, and soon, we will be connected to the sea," Abiodun added. He appreciated regulators in the aviation sector, especially the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, for providing quality supervision for the airport. Speaking in an interview, the Speaker of the State's House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, noted that the airport is in tandem with the dreams of the State's founding fathers and would serve as a window to the outside world. "I give it to the governor. This place was a refuse dump, but now it is the site of a world-class airport. I feel happy; I feel on top of the world. There will be economic gains, and there will be comfort, as it will reduce the hassle of going to Lagos to travel by air," the Speaker said. On his part, the member representing Imeko-Afon-Yewa North at the House of Representatives, Hon. Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka, expressed delight that the airport has finally come to stay, enjoining industrialists to take advantage and leverage their businesses while soliciting people's support for the project. The Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Ona-Najomo, commended the state government for keeping faith with all regulatory dictates of the regulatory agencies, just as he expressed satisfaction with the project. He expressed his willingness to give further support to the airport where necessary, especially for the takeoff of international flights in the nearest future. The Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Umar, and other officials from the aviation sector were at the ceremony.

Still on Gbenga Daniel and his spin doctors By Ilesanmi Martins THERE is a reason the author of “OGD vs DA: The real story untold” did not attach his name to the pile of garbage: it is pure fiction. At least if the spin doctors of Gbenga Daniel, the senator representing Ogun East and former governor of Ogun State, wish to lie, they should do so with a bit of imagination. In the piece under reference, a collection of outrageous lies that will no doubt make even Lucifer the father of lies green with envy, the author claims that Prince Dapo Abiodun’s Heyden Petroleum, a company established in 2001, arose after Gbenga Daniel asked the then private citizen to manage a state-owned oil and gas company, Gateway Oil and Gas, in 2006! He wrote about Dapo Abiodun, a well-known business mogul who once led such a distinguished organization as IPMAN in this country, as if he was writing about an unknown quantity. It is a shame when people cast any dignity aside, write for a bottle of beer, and mortgage their future for a pittance. Ordinarily, there would have been no need to respond to desperately blatant falsehoods such as this, but we live in a society where some people believe anything, including, to go straight to the meat of this piece, the claim that Governor Dapo Abiodun is miffed by Daniel’s alleged rising profile in Ogun politics and wants to demolish his properties in order to win the Ogun East senatorial ticket! Suddenly, a sitting governor who has not told anyone that he wants to contest election in 2027 now needs to demolish his perceived opponent’s properties in order to win the 2027 senatorial ticket! It is a lunatic claim but anything is possible in the camp of land-grabbing, conscienceless politicians who feel too big to obey the law. The trajectory of Daniel’s leadership, including the overwhelming climate of violence, oath-taking scandals and political assassinations under his administration (2003-2011) is too well known to bear any repetition here, as is the total blackout of his presence from Ogun State and its affairs while his successor, Ibikunle Amosun, held sway as governor. Today, Daniel is locked in a supremacy battle with the same man who rehabilitated him politically, saved his businesses, restored his privileges as a former governor of Ogun State, and yielded to the plea by foremost traditional rulers in Ogun State to allow him to pick the senatorial ticket that he now enjoys at the expense of the more worthy Senator Lekan Mustapha. What a tragedy. To be sure, it is futile to expect a habitual Judas to desist from treachery, and the story of Daniel’s collusion with the opposition after enjoying Abiodun’s full backing during the 2023 presidential/NASS polls is too well known to be threatened by revisionist, white-washing garbage by hack and hired writers motivated by the rustle of currency notes, and with a conscience sold to the devil. Some people play politics with everything. If not, why is a simple request to present building papers for audit suddenly a matter of litigation and alleged 2027 politicking even when the state government opened a window to those with irregular papers to regularize them? If Governor Abiodun, who has the Ogun APC structure firmly within his control, really wants to contest the 2027 senatorial ticket, what does he need to go after Daniel, an outsider who was until a few days to his (Abiodun’s) governorship election in 2019 still a member of the PDP, for? Just how will he be demolishing houses to win primaries? Is that how to gain people's approval? What benefit will the demolition add to him politically, if this is about politics as Daniel’s camp will never cease regurgitating? No one became senator without Daniel’s input as governor, and the story was the same with Amosun. Why should it now be different? Should Governor Abiodun prevent the Ogun State Ministry of Urban Planning from doing its work simply because Emperor Daniel is involved? Is it being suggested that because the opposition will talk, Abiodun must violate the law he swore to uphold? It is only those who cannot reason that are swallowing Daniel’s lies bait hook, line and sinker. Does anyone seriously think that if Governor Abiodun has 2027 aspirations, he needs to demolish anyone's houses to win the APC ticket? Is that how he will build acceptance among the electorate? The sanctity of government must be protected from hijack. Accountability and the rule of law must prevail. In his desperation, the controversial senator asked Governor Abiodun to first demolish his house in Iperu before demolishing his (Daniel’s) properties. Well, the Governor built his house on private land, not government land, and he obtained the necessary papers. It is foolishness to compare apples and oranges. Dapo Abiodun did not seize government land. The author of the garbage in question claimed that Prince Abiodun collected $3 million bribe in the name of the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, and that the former president kept quiet about it. He assumes he is addressing a kindergarten audience, for who else would have gone public with such information if not OBJ, who did not even spare his own deputy? Deliberately distorting facts will not help Daniel’s case. This is a man who, under Ibikunle Amosun, was declared persona non grata, someone who for eight years could not even visit Abeokuta, now trying to discredit his benefactor. And regarding his suspension by APC, who does not know the details of Daniel’s hobnobbing with the opposition, key members of whom are now in court, charged with vote buying and conspiracy? It is a known fact that the man being dressed in alien robes of righteousness worked against the party in 2023. While Nigerians know how Governor Amosun fought desperately to install a successor and opposed Abiodun’s bid with every asset at his disposal, the sophist claimed that Abiodun became governor in 2019 after forming an alliance with Amosun. He even claimed that it was Abiodun who had advised Amosun to move against Daniel. Is it any surprise, then, that he would not dare to affix his name to his pile of garbage? Let Daniel obey the law and stop silly games. Period.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has appointed Messrs Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin, who emerged as the best graduating students of the University of Lagos during the institution's 55th convocation, as the Education Ambassadors of the State. The governor also presented them with cheques of N10m each to appreciate their efforts. Speaking while receiving the duo in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the governor said that by scoring a Grade Point Average of 5.0, they not only made the state proud but also set themselves on the path of greatness. According to the governor, his administration would continue to honor individuals who made the state proud in their chosen careers to serve as motivation for others to discover their full potential. He said: "I want to commend you for achieving this great honor for yourselves, your families, the state, and Nigeria, because it is not enough that you come from Ogun State and are flying Ogun State's flag. "We are going to appoint you as our Education Ambassadors. It is our hope that other up-and-coming students, those who are still in school, will see you and find motivation in you, allowing them to emulate your good virtues. "You have to think about how you can support and motivate them. As our Education Ambassadors, we are going to develop programs where you can actually go to schools and talk to them because it will be easier for you to communicate with them. "I can talk to them, but I may not be able to communicate with them effectively. However, when you speak to them, you will be able to connect because they can identify with you as you are of the same wavelength and age bracket, and you can relate to what they are going through, including their pains and issues. "I congratulate you as our Education Ambassadors, and I don't want you to be too far away from the Commissioner for Education so that whatever career path you choose, we can support you in achieving your potential and all that you aspire to. "But today, we will be supporting you with small cheques of N10m each—just a token of our appreciation to you and your parents for what you have accomplished in making Ogun State proud." Governor Abiodun expressed delight that despite the decadence in society, some young men and women remain committed, deliberate, diligent, and intentional about their academics by choosing the right path as a means of emancipation. The governor, who described education as a pathway to success and a means to eradicate poverty, said it provides respect and a platform upon which one can build to become successful in life. "It gives you the platform and passport that allows you to apply for different opportunities, whether job opportunities, master's programs, among others. It is what helps you in the process of determination," he added. He noted that their academic success was beyond the ordinary, as their perseverance, consistency, and discipline have helped them achieve the targets they set for themselves. "You set a target for yourselves and decided that you would not settle for second place but strive for the very best. I must say that this is the Ogun State spirit, and I am not surprised that both of you, in the same year and department, studied the same Cell Biology and Genetics. You have both chosen to pursue a very abstract discipline that requires a lot of intellect, and you have not just excelled, but excelled very well. You graduated with a 5.0, the top of your class," he said. Ogun State, the governor noted, is blessed with eminent personalities who have excelled in their chosen professions. "This is the blood that flows in you. I am impressed and excited that you are living up to expectations," he added. He mentioned that his administration has repositioned the education sector by introducing various reforms, such as the Revitalization Agenda with a learner identification system, adding that the state has a Learner Identification Number that keeps track of the number of students, a development which he said has attracted attention from other states of the federation. He lauded the parents of the best graduating students for the values instilled in their children and the sacrifices they made to ensure they are educated, emphasizing that their reward would be the success of their children. Speaking, Adebakin and Badekale expressed their gratitude to the governor for the honor bestowed upon them, stating that their recognition is a testament to the governor's commitment to improving the education sector in the state. He spoke at the commissioning of the 3.12 kilometers Oke-Erinja-Ilobi road in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state, even as he promised to ensure the completion of the road all the way to Ilobi. The project, according to the governor, marks another historic moment in the trajectory and journey of the development of the state, noting that the road is a pathway to progress and economic development that will enhance the quality of life of the Erinja and Ilobi community. "We have underscored our commitment as a government not just to urban renewal, not just focusing on reconstructing urban roads alone. It is very easy to construct urban roads, but it takes a far-sighted administration to conceive the construction of rural roads. "It takes a far-sighted administration to appreciate the fact that the food supply chain starts from the rural areas. Our rural communities are our food basket; that is where we have our farmlands. "Ogun State is about 17,000 square kilometers, out of which 12,000 square kilometers of land is arable, and our people are farmers. "How do we unlock their potentials? How do we ensure that we achieve food security if we don't ensure that we construct these roads that connect our farmers from the rural areas to the market? And that is exactly what we have done. "The Ilobi and Oke-Erinja areas are among our food baskets in the state, and today we have prioritized the construction of their roads. "It was not intentional to stop the road at Oke-Erinja. I have heard many times that the Erinja and Ilobi people are like Siamese twins, and I will not separate them. "So, let me assure you, we will complete that road to Ilobi; we will ensure the road ends at Ilobi," he said. The Governor also noted that his administration would award the construction of the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road during the week. According to him, all the efforts of his administration on the Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, Giwa-Oke-Aro, and the Alagbole-Akute roads won't be appreciated if the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road is not completed. "We have not left behind our border communities. In the last two weeks, we have been going to Ifo Local Government several times because of the number of people that migrate between that local government and Lagos every day. "The Sango-Ijoko-Akute road is a road we are soon going to award, possibly this week. It is quite a lengthy piece of road; that road is about 17 kilometers. It is a major arterial road that connects Ogun West to Ogun Central and, of course, to Lagos," he said. Governor Abiodun noted that with work on-going on the other side of the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road, he would soon be inspecting the Inter-Change-Papalanto-Obelle road with Alhaji Aliko Dangote to hasten the completion of the road, which is being constructed with tax credit l. "At the moment, we are reconstructing the Ota-Ifo-Abeokuta road, which will also be of immense benefit to Ogun West. "The Inter-Change-Papalanto-Obelle road is also under construction; it is a great arterial road that serves as the West-East connector of our state. "Very soon, I am going to inspect that road with Alhaji Dangote. I have invited him to come and see how well or how not so well the road is progressing. "We have completed one side of the Agbara-Atan-Lusada road; that was a road nobody believed we would reconstruct. "Today, one section of that road has been completed from beginning to end, so we can travel from Agbara to Atan-Lusada without the usual tears. "We've now moved to the other side, and by the grace of God, we will complete that other section. That is a major road in Ogun West," he said. Governor Abiodun thanked the Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, other monarchs, community leaders, and the people of the community for their collaboration and cooperation towards the completion of the road, saying that his administration would continue to make promises and fulfill them. Begins Tolling Operations on Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway, Calls for Total Compliance Ogun State Government has announced the commencement of tolling operations on the Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway, starting from Monday, 24th March 2025, for the purpose of sustainable road maintenance, efficient operations, as well as enhanced road safety. It should be recalled that the 14.7km road had been in a poor state of repair for many years, making it a dangerous and unsatisfactory route for commuters. The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun re-built the road into a modern expressway with up to date facilities, including toll booths. According to a statement on Wednesday by the Director-General, Office of the Public-Private Partnerships, Hon. Dapo Oduwole, the reason for not tolling the road immediately upon its opening for use, despite its PPP arrangement, was predicated on the magnanimity of Governor Dapo Abiodun and his resolve to make life comfortable for the people of the state. The statement explained that the Governor considered the expressway as a strategic corridor for economic activities between Nigeria's commercial capital of Lagos and Ogun State; hence, the urgency for its completion. The Director-General further stated that road users can comfortably ply the road without hindrance of any form, as necessary amenities were provided to make it one of the best in the country. "Prince Dapo Abiodun, upon assumption of office and in the course of designing an effective and efficient transport system that will boost the microeconomy of the state, discovered the economic importance of the Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway. "The government had opted for a public private partnership arrangement in the management of the asset including the collection of tolls. The government magnanimously delayed the rolling operations on that road since 2021 to provide some relief to residents and other road users. "Meanwhile, while considering the interests of the people, we must also take into cognizance the economic interests of the investors for us to strike a balance, hence the need to commence tolling operations on the road after about four years of using it free of any charge. "It is pertinent to note that some road users have been exempted from this tolling obligation. These include emergency response vehicles, such as ambulances, fire service, and patrol vehicles. "Others are government-owned security vehicles, Ogun State Government official vehicles, and any others as determined by the Ogun State Government. "We, therefore, urge all road users to comply with these tolling regulations as enforcement measures will be implemented to the fullest without fear or favor," the statement read.

Transition to Prepaid Water Metering To enhance revenue generation and accountability, Otubanjo revealed the government’s plan to transition customers from flat-rate and postpaid billing systems to prepaid meters. “Currently, a significant portion of our water supply is categorized as non-revenue water due to non-payment by customers who either do not receive adequate supply or are billed on a flat rate. By transitioning to prepaid metering, consumers will only pay for the water they use, ensuring fairness and improving revenue collection,” she explained. She also noted that the government is exploring the deployment of sensors and smart meters to monitor water quality and quantity, allowing for better resource management and revenue estimation. Enhanced Response to Pipe Leakages and Water Distribution Challenges Hon. A statement issued by the State's Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the approved promotion exercises, including upgrading and transfers, cover eligible civil/public servants within the core civil service, teaching and non-teaching staff of government secondary schools, primary school teachers, and personnel of state-owned boards, corporations, and agencies, including the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH). According to Onasanya, the Governor has also approved the conduct of the December 2024 edition of the combined confirmation/promotion tests and compulsory public service examinations for officers in the senior and junior cadres, usually organized by the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Office of the Head of Service, for the career progression of eligible officers. Speaking after inspecting the ongoing renovation of facilities at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, and the Ijeja Sports Centre, all in Abeokuta, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, said his administration is committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities for the games. He said: "This stadium is probably anywhere between 30-35 years old since it was constructed, and this is the first time it is witnessing such a level of reconstruction. We are doing it with a sense of commitment and dedication, the way we are committing to and implementing all other projects across the State. "It is in line with our Ogun standard, and I have no doubt that by the time the whole reconstruction is completed, this stadium will rank as one of the best in the country and will remain one of our legacies." Abiodun expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and the competence of the contractors handling the projects. "I have come here today to see for myself the level of progress being made in the reconstruction work ahead of the Gateway Games 2025, which will start on January 12, 2025. "I want to say that I'm impressed with the level of activities that I have seen at the stadium. I have been to the site where the Olympic-size swimming pool is being constructed, as well as the tennis court and the handball court. Now I'm here at the main bowl where the pitch is being removed, the surface is being prepared in readiness for concrete work, and eventually the turf. "The track itself has been totally removed, and the drains have been opened. They are going to ensure that the pitch is canvassed so that when it rains, the water drains into the drains. The track is also getting ready, and I'm satisfied with the level of professionalism being demonstrated by the contractors. "I believe that they are very experienced; they know what to do, as some of them have worked here in the past. So, they are very familiar with this facility. I have pointed out a few things to them, and I have seen what they are doing with the scoreboard, floor lights, and VIP seats. I will review the final drawings of the VIP seats to ensure that they conform to what we have in mind," he added. The governor, who also visited the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, regretted that the centre had been neglected for long but expressed the commitment of his administration to put it in good shape for the successful hosting of the games. "We are excited that the Alake Sports Centre is also being totally reconstructed. The last time anything was done there was merely painting. We want to have a world-class sports festival. It will be a festival where all the athletes are in one location. There will be a Games Village where they will come from one location to where sports activities will take place. "It is a reflection of our commitment to sports development. We have consultants who will ensure the success of the games. We believe that besides that, it will put our state on the map during that period," Prince Abiodun noted. He said the festival would serve as an opportunity to bring the youth together for meaningful engagement, as sports not only trains the mind but also teaches teamwork and leadership skills. "We are convinced that after the games, there will be other individuals who will come and take concession of this stadium to make it a sporting centre of excellence where our youth from the length and breadth of this state can come and train, discover their talents, and proceed to compete nationally and internationally," the governor noted. The games will start on January 12 and end on January 26, 2025.

2025-2027 MTEF: No part of Ogun State left out of our projects distribution - Abiodun ...approves reconstruction of Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road, Igbeba-Eid praying ground to Prison road, others in Ogun East The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said that no part of Ogun State has been left out of the developmental projects of his administration in the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2025 Budget. According to him, projects were evenly distributed to the three Senatorial Districts in accordance with the 2024 budget. Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known during the town hall meeting on the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and 2025 Budget held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Center, Ijebu-Ode. Abiodun, who lauded all stakeholders for their inputs during consultations towards putting together the 2024 budget, said his administration has approved the reconstruction of some major roads in the Ogun East Senatorial District. The roads, according to the governor, are Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road, Igbeba-Eid praying ground to Prison road, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and the Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road. Governor Abiodun, who was represented by the Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, noted that despite the fiscal pressures on its resources, his administration has also commenced the construction of over 64 kilometers of rural roads across the state. The construction of the rural roads, Governor Abiodun said, marks pivotal steps in his administration's ongoing commitment towards expanding infrastructural development for easy rural accessibility and boosting agricultural productivity in the state. "In continuation of our infrastructural development, our administration recently approved the reconstruction of the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road in Ijebu-North-East, Igbeba road to Eid praying ground to Prison, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road. "Despite the fiscal pressures and increased government spending, infrastructural investments to promote rural development and the economy have equally gained attention. "Our administration is constructing 64 kilometers of rural roads in select local government areas in the state, including within the Ijebu division," he said. Governor Abiodun also disclosed that his administration, in collaboration with the Lagos and Oyo State Governments, has procured an additional 25 patrol vans and surveillance drones to monitor activities along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. He noted that the construction and imminent completion of the Gateway International Agro-cargo Airport would position the state as the major logistics hub in the sub-region while taking advantage of the Africa Quality Assurance Center developed by the Africa Export-Import Bank. Prince Abiodun said that his administration has constructed over 600 kilometers of road across the state, with 243.3 kilometers completed in the Ogun East Senatorial District. The Governor listed some of the completed roads to include Chris-Ogunbajo-Erunwon road, Palace road, Ijebu-Itele, Club road, Balogun Kuku road, Ijebu-Ode, and the reconstruction of internal roads within Olabisi Onabanjo University, adding that work has also commenced on the double self-culvert on Alaran River, Isiwo, Ijebu-Ode, Liberty road, Oru, and the Awokoya road in Ijebu-Ode. Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, disclosed that 377 inputs were received during the last town hall meetings held in 2023, adding that 90%, which represents 340 inputs, were included in the budget, even as he pledged that the remaining 40 inputs would be included in the 2025 budget and the MTEF. Olabimtan also disclosed that projects were equally implemented among the six local government areas of the district, urging the people of the Senatorial District to submit their input towards the planning and eventual implementation of the budget. In their separate remarks, the Gbegande of Ososa, Oba Toye Alatishe, and the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adenugba, commended the present administration for sustaining the town hall meeting, which has served as an avenue for the people to make their inputs into the budget, saying monarchs in the district would continue to support the vision and mission of the present administration in the state. Abiodun Approves N77,000 as Minimum Wage in Ogun ...takes immediate effect Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the sum of N77,000 as the minimum wage for the lowest worker in the state, and the payment takes immediate effect. This decision was revealed after a meeting of the State Government led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and the leadership of the Organized Labour in Ogun State, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), to discuss the implementation of the new minimum wage. Talabi said the meeting was at the instance of Governor Abiodun, who he stated has directed that no worker in the state should earn less than N77,000 starting from the month of October. He stated that Prince Abiodun means well for the people of the state and has proactively taken steps to further ameliorate the suffering of the people, adding that the Governor has also advised the organized private sector to take a cue from the policy, as their workers are not exempt from the economic realities in the country, to improve the living standards of people in the state holistically. The SSG also noted that the Governor has therefore advised that the private sector should dialogue with their relevant stakeholders to arrive at a commensurate minimum wage for the sector while he will set up a monitoring team to see how it is implemented by the private sector to ensure no one is short-changed. On his part, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Hameed Benco, said the organized labour in the state is very pleased with the Governor having approved the N77,000 in consultation with labour leaders, which today is the highest in the country. Benco noted that some states that have implemented the new minimum wage are paying N70,000, while some pay N70,250 or less, adding that the other sectorial salaries will be affected accordingly. He also mentioned that the government has graciously approved the submission of labour that the new basic salary should not be taxed. In the same vein, Comrade Akeem Lasisi of the TUC and his counterpart, Comrade Isa Olude of the JNC, commended the government for being worker-friendly, while they noted that consequential adjustments for pensioners and other matters will be announced after due consultation with the relevant stakeholders. In his reaction, Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the approval of the generous minimum wage for workers underscores the responsiveness and sensitivity of the Governor and the government to the plight of the workers and the general populace of the state. Onasanya expressed optimism that the gestures by the government will further boost the morale of the workers in committing themselves to the implementation of the government's policies.

Addressing the fellows at SUBEB’s Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Chairman, SUBEB, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, noted that the programme was well organised, considering the qualities of teachers being produced and work with existing teachers in public primary schools across the state to teach the learners. Dr. Majekodunmi tasked the fellows to demonstrate what they have learnt during the two years training and influence the learners by giving them good quality education as expected, enjoining them to continue be role models to the young ones. He urged them to adapt to the environment which they found themselves, surpass the performance of their predecessors and come out in flying colours. "Those before you have done well. We can only hope that you will do well, if possible, perform better. Any time I visit various schools all over the state, I have the habit of addressing TFN fellows on how they are enjoying working with us, and I discovered that they are doing well, good, dress well, and they are mindful of their 'Be the Change' project", he said. Remarking, Coach TFN, Mr. Adebayo Adebari, enjoined the fellows to see the two-year training as a learning process and develop themselves, pointing out that experience garnered during the process, would be useful later in future.
