The Special Assistant to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar downplayed the chances of All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, declaring that Nigerians will not elect a ghost president.

Mr. Phrank Shaibu, in a statement issued in Washington, DC, accused Tinubu of avoiding public scrutiny and using proxies to answer questions reserved exclusively for would-be presidents.

Kashim Shettima and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been charged for acting out in front of rival presidential candidates.

Eta Uso, Atiku Abubakar's communications advisor, made this accusation in a string of tweets on November 2nd.

Uso claimed that Tinubu and Shettima only speak to audiences that they financially support, which is why he claimed they turned down an invitation to a recent Lagos Chambers of Commerce event.

With alert and terror threat looming, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on Friday held a crucial meeting with officials of the US States Department in Washington DC.

The meeting, which focused primarily on enhancing cooperation with the U.S. authorities on Nigeria’s security challenges, elections and democracy was led by Atiku and Assistant Secretary, States Department, Bureau of African Affairs, Molly Phee.

According to sources from the PDP presidential candidate's side, “the meeting last night with officials of the States Department could not have come at a better time with the terrorist threat alert by the U.S. UK and Canada and the withdrawal of its non essential staff by the U.S Embassy in Nigeria.”

A press statement signed by Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to Atiku, on Saturday, said that, “the focus of discussions were on the critical need to seek collaborative solutions to our local issues on democracy and governance, our deteriorating security and the economy.

“Most importantly, the meeting secured commitments to support for free and fair elections in Nigeria, an announcement of a sanction policy before the elections to deter anti-democratic forces, and commitments for continued partnership with Nigeria in areas of security and development.”

Ajah is being accused of complicity in the death of a 46-year-old man identified as Azubuike Inya. The deceased was allegedly killed by hoodlums who inflicted machete wounds on him that led to his death.

According to the police, both Mr. Ajah and the late Mr. Inya are from Amankwo village in Nkpoghoro community in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Investigations revealed that the killing was occasioned by an intra-communal crisis involving the two factions of Amankwo village.

One of the factions is said to be led by Mr. Ajah while another faction is led by one Ifeanyi Obila. The two groups have constantly clashed in the community as they battled for supremacy and control of the community.

A senior US State Department official has resigned over President Donald Trump’s response to the protests against racial injustice and police brutality across the nation.



Mary Elizabeth Taylor, the assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs, submitted her resignation on Thursday, according to the Washington Post.



Her departure was directly related to the president’s response to racial injustice.



According to her resignation letter, which was quoted by the newspaper, Taylor wrote: “The President’s comments and actions surrounding racial injustice and Black Americans cut sharply against my core values and convictions”.



“I must follow the dictates of my conscience and resign,” she added in the letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the newspaper reported.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole stop his obsession to change the leadership of the Senate, as such is completely out of his reach.

The party counsels Oshiomhole to stop his childish tantrums and get educated on the fact that the positions of the Senate President and
that of Deputy Senate President do not belong to political parties but to Nigerians, who elect persons into the seats through their elected representatives in the Senate.

Mr. Oshiomhole should also stop exposing his
ignorance in thinking that the Senate leadership can be changed by his inconsequential
orders as a factional chairman of a political party, when the law is settled that such power is vested only on the two-third votes, representing
73 of the 109 senators.

We know that Oshiomhole is under intense pressure from the Presidency to overheat the polity, distract the National Assembly members and make as much effort to cause a constitutional crisis in the country, having realized that they cannot win the 2019 general elections.

However, the PDP strongly cautions these desperate power grabbers to note that their actions have unlimited capacity to destroy our democracy.

The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged state government, to immediately revert to the last academic session’s tuition fee regime for all categories of students, of the State owned Polytechnic.
This call was part of the Resolutions of the House, after considering the report of the House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development, on the controversy surrounding tuition fee in the Institution.
It would be recalled that the Parliament through its Committee on Education, had last week waded into the imbroglio, by inviting all Stakeholders, in order to have first hand information and proffer amicable solution to the controversy.
