BREAKING NEWS - TENSION IN OGUN PDP: SUNDAY SOLARIN’S CATASTROPHIC MISCALCULATION LEAVES LADI ADEBUTU EXPOSED AND POLITICALLY CRIPPLED

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State is now in open turmoil as the full extent of Sunday Solarin’s alleged disastrous advice to Ladi Adebutu comes under merciless scrutiny. Adebutu’s name is missing from the PDP membership register submitted to INEC, a development that has left his governorship ambition hanging by a thread and exposed the stunning incompetence and short-sightedness of the very men he trusted most.

Sunday Solarin, long presented as Adebutu’s close political associate and trusted aide, is now facing intense accusations of having given advice that may have fatally undermined the candidate he was supposed to protect. According to accounts from within the party, Solarin coordinated the membership registration of several aspirants and candidates in Adebutu’s camp, those seeking seats in the Ogun State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. Yet while he reportedly ensured these lesser candidates completed registration under the faction associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, he allegedly advised against doing the same for Adebutu himself.

Solarin’s reported justification was that Adebutu had already registered under the Taminu Turaki-aligned faction and that a second registration under the Wike structure risked dual registration complications. What he allegedly failed to grasp, or chose to ignore, was the prolonged factional war inside the PDP and the very real possibility that the Supreme Court would ultimately decide which faction constituted the legitimate leadership. Party insiders now argue that, given the uncertainty, Adebutu’s team should have taken precautionary steps to secure and verify his membership under both competing structures rather than placing all eggs in one contested basket.

Instead, Adebutu was left uncovered. When INEC recognised the Wike-aligned leadership and its membership register became decisive, Adebutu’s name was absent, while other candidates in his own political group were reportedly present. The omission has triggered furious questions inside the party: how could a political operative entrusted with protecting the group’s highest interest in Ogun State, the governorship ticket, allegedly ensure registration for everyone else while leaving the governorship candidate himself exposed?

Sources claim the controversy exploded during a heated meeting in Abeokuta, where Solarin was confronted over the circumstances of the omission. Aggrieved stakeholders reportedly accused him of a catastrophic failure of political judgment, arguing that his narrow interpretation of the registration requirements left Adebutu vulnerable to an entirely avoidable political and legal disaster. The central charge is stark: a man trusted to coordinate registration for the group’s candidates allegedly decided it was unnecessary to secure the position of the governorship candidate himself.

The controversy has also revived an unsubstantiated allegation that Solarin received ₦350 million in connection with the matter. No documentary evidence has been produced to substantiate the claim, and there is no verified basis to conclude that any such payment occurred or that Solarin deliberately set out to sabotage Adebutu. Nevertheless, the circulation of the allegation has further inflamed tensions among stakeholders already demanding explanations for decisions taken during the registration exercise.

The latest flashpoint follows the reported circulation of a certified true copy of the PDP membership register obtained from INEC, in which Adebutu’s name is said to be missing. Although Adebutu’s supporters maintain that he completed the party’s digital membership registration, the subsequent absence of his name, and that of his running mate from INEC’s published list for the February 6, 2027 Ogun State governorship election has intensified concerns about the real-world consequences of the registration dispute. Adebutu’s camp is now said to be considering approaching INEC to argue that the omission was an administrative error. Whether any such claim can survive scrutiny will depend on the records actually submitted and the applicable electoral provisions.

For Solarin, the episode has placed his political judgment under brutal examination. Having reportedly supervised registration arrangements for other candidates in the same group, his alleged decision to leave Adebutu outside the Wike-aligned exercise has become a major source of internal recrimination. The development has also raised pointed questions about the quality of advice available to Adebutu and the internal coordination of his campaign.

Political observers note that the controversy illustrates the extreme risks of factional party disputes, where rival leadership structures maintain competing membership records and legal recognition of one faction can determine the fate of candidates. Yet for Adebutu’s camp, the more immediate problem is internal: how did a registration exercise reportedly completed for the group’s assembly, House of Representatives, and senatorial candidates leave its governorship candidate without a confirmed place on the membership register that became decisive?

The central, unresolved issue confronting Adebutu’s political camp is damning in its simplicity. A process that covered everyone else left the man whose ambition represented the highest political stake in the group without confirmed membership on the register that mattered.

As the crisis continues to generate reactions inside the Ogun PDP, the decisions of Adebutu’s closest associates are coming under increasing and unforgiving scrutiny. Stakeholders are openly questioning whether the situation resulted from an avoidable miscalculation, inadequate guidance, or a wider failure of political coordination that has now left the candidate politically exposed at the worst possible moment.

SEN ADEOLA YAYI COMMITS TO NEW MARKET AT OLOMORE AND MORE ROADS CONSTRUCTION

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the APC governorship candidate for Ogun State has directed that work commence for the construction of a new ultra-modern market at the popular Olomore market following a request from the United Traders Forum (UTF) of Ogun State.

Given the directive at an endorsement ceremony for him by the 24 unions under the United Traders Forum at Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta, the APC flagbearer stated that construction workers will visit the site this week to commence work adding that he will also construct the roads as requested by some trade group in the forum to enhance their business environment.

Among the trade groups under UTF that contributed N1 million each are Plank Sellers Association of Ogun State, Olomore Ram/Pepper/Fishsellers, Egba Ram and Goat Sellers that gifted the candidate a ram in addition, Mobile Phones Dealers and Technicians Association (Abeokuta Computer Village), Kemta Indigenous Timber Contractors and Nigeria Automobile &Technicians Association, NATA among others.

Senator Adeola also announced a N50,000 grant for 1000 members of the UTM in addition to another financial donation for the body saying that he will not take their support, endorsement and financial contributions for granted.
Earlier on Alhaji Fasiu Ajadi, the President of the UTF stated that members of the forum decided to back Senator Adeola for the governorship race in 2027 because of the work he has delivered across the state as a senator adding that all individual in the forum have Permanent Voter Card and are ready to persuade their family members to also vote for Senator Yayi.

He said traders at Olomore desire to have a modern market of their own similar to that of the one the senator has constructed at Panseke and all over several places in Ogun State.

Among the dignitaries that witnessed the occasion were Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, deputy governorship candidate, Senator Shuaib Afolabi SALISU, Ogun Central senatorial District candidate, Rt. Hons. Tunji Egbetokun, Titi Oseni Sodunke and Surajui Adekumbi, all former State House of Assembly Speakers, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, former state chairman of PDP, Hon Derin Adebiyi, former state chairman of APC, Hon. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) has facilitated the construction and completion of Unity Road in Ibafo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The newly completed road is part of infrastructure projects facilitated by the Senator across communities in Ogun State to improve road connectivity and ease movement for residents.

The project has now been fully completed and delivered for use, providing improved access for residents, motorists and businesses within Ibafo and adjoining communities.

Sogunle’s Convenient History and the Politics of a Borrowed Past

Kehinde Sogunle’s recent article, “Reclaiming Ogun State’s Sovereign Blueprint: The PDP Template,” is a remarkable exercise in selective history, political nostalgia and intellectual appropriation. It takes eight years of one administration, elevates some of its participants into the exclusive authors of modern Ogun State, dismisses much of what came afterwards as an “interregnum” and then asks the people of Ogun State to accept the extraordinary proposition that a small circle of former political office holders still possesses what Sogunle dramatically calls the “source code” of our development.

That proposition is not only presumptuous, it is fundamentally flawed and intellectually arrogant. It proceeds from the extraordinary conceit that a small circle of former political appointees can appropriate the collective achievements of an entire government, confer upon themselves exclusive ownership of Ogun State’s developmental intelligence and then arrogate to themselves the right to determine who possesses the competence and capacity to govern the state. It is revisionism driven by an exaggerated sense of self importance.

Sogunle appears to mistake participation in government for ownership of government. He confuses the privilege of having served with a portfolio to the ideas, institutions and accomplishments produced during that period. By repeatedly proclaiming that “we built the engine,” “we proved the concept” and “we hold the source code,” he reduces the contributions of thousands of career civil servants, professionals, communities, investors and ordinary taxpayers to footnotes in a story in which he and his political associates have conveniently cast themselves as the principal authors. That is not only a distortion of history, it is also an attempt to privatise institutional history.

Ogun State was not invented by Sogunle and his colleagues in 2003. Its intellectual capital did not disappear when they left office in 2011. Its capacity for development is not locked inside the political memory of former appointees from 2003 to 2011 waiting to be retrieved whenever they seek a return to power. The state existed before that tenure, continued after it and will continue long after the present generation of public officials has left the stage.

Sogunle and his associates served Ogun State but Ogun State did not belong to them.
This distinction is fundamental, and perhaps it is time they remembered it.

The political double standard at the heart of Sogunle’s argument is equally difficult to disguise. He proudly celebrates Ogun indigenes who went to Lagos, entered government and contributed their expertise to the development of that state as evidence of Ogun’s intellectual strength and technocratic depth.

Yet the moment Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s own Lagos experience enters the conversation, Sogunle changes the standard. What he celebrates as expertise in one instance is suddenly presented as political contamination in another.

One is therefore forced to ask whether Sogunle would have found anything objectionable about Senator Adeola Yayi’s Lagos political career if Yayi had simply remained in Lagos politics and never returned home to seek the governorship of Ogun State. I suspect that, in those circumstances, Sogunle might well have celebrated him as another accomplished Ogun indigene who distinguished himself outside his home state.

The political temperature changed because Yayi came home and is now seeking the same office as Ladi Adebutu, whose campaign organisation Sogunle heads. That is the crux of the matter and Sogunle, in his heart of hearts, cannot deny it.

It is important to note that Sogunle is not writing as a detached historian examining the movement of ideas between Lagos and Ogun. He is the Director General of Adebutu’s campaign organisation, defending the political interests of a candidate seeking the same office as Senator Adeola Yayi. His criticism of Yayi must therefore be read and situated within that electoral context.

From my perspective, the intensity of these attacks is better understood as a political response to the support and huge public following Senator Yayi’s has attracted in the governorship contest than as a principled objection to the fact that he once built his political career in Lagos. Sogunle is perfectly entitled to dispute that conclusion, but it is equally legitimate to ask why Lagos experience becomes objectionable only when the person possessing it returns home to compete directly with his principal and benefactor.

If Ogun professionals could serve in Lagos without ceasing to be Ogun indigenes, then Senator Yayi’s years of untainted public service outside Ogun cannot, by themselves, erase his Ogun roots. Sogunle cannot celebrate the export of Ogun talent when it suits his historical narrative and condemn the return of Ogun experience when it complicates his present political argument. To hold otherwise will amount to an
consistent principle.

Ironically, in yet another instance of convenient political amnesia, Sogunle appears to forget a fundamental fact about the very Lagos history he invokes so confidently. The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 was not a PDP administration.

Tinubu was elected on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). The political trajectory associated with that administration subsequently travelled through the Action Congress (AC), the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and ultimately became a major component of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

More importantly, Senator Adeola Yayi’s ITESIWAJU proceeds from a very fundamental and simple proposition: government should be a continuum. Viable projects should not be abandoned merely because the occupant of Government House has changed. Useful policies should be improved rather than destroyed on the altar of partisan ego. New ideas should be added to what works, while programs that no longer answer contemporary needs should be reviewed.

Ironically, Sogunle’s own article validates that principle. If ideas conceived under the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel remain useful today, as Sogunle insists, then he has already conceded the central point that good ideas should outlive the governments that conceived them.

Where he goes wrong is in attempting to privatize those ideas. Sogunle repeatedly tells us that “we built the original engine,” “we proved the concept” and “we hold the source code.” Who exactly is this “we”?

Were Ogun civil servants absent between 2003 and 2011? Were engineers, teachers, planners, accountants, contractors, investors,policy makers, legislators, traditional institutions and communities not part of the development process? Were those programs financed from private bank accounts belonging to PDP officials, Sogunle and his associates? Were government ministries, agencies and parastatals private enterprises belonging to commissioners and advisers? Public service is not private property.

Those privileged to serve in government are custodians for a season. They do not leave office with certificates of ownership over the ideas, institutions and achievements of the state.

Whatever Chief Olusegun Osoba achieved belonged to Ogun State, whatever Otunba Gbenga Daniel achieved belongs to Ogun State. Whatever Senator Ibikunle Amosun achieved belongs to Ogun State. Whatever Prince Dapo Abiodun achieves belongs to Ogun State. Whatever the next administration contributes will ultimately belong to Ogun State.

No former commissioner, special adviser or political appointee can appropriate that collective history and declare himself custodian of Ogun State’s intellectual DNA.

There is, however, an even more awkward contradiction which Sogunle has woefully failed to consider.

The period between 2003 and 2011 which he repeatedly invokes was the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel. OGD was the Governor. He headed the government. He appointed the commissioners, special advisers and other officials. If there was an engine, to borrow Sogunle’s metaphor, OGD was sitting in the driver’s seat.

However, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is no longer in the PDP. He joined the APC in February 2021 and subsequently won election to the Senate on the APC platform. That creates a rather uncomfortable question for Sogunle. On whose behalf is he laying claim to the achievements of the Daniel administration?

Is he speaking for the political structure of the 2003 to 2011 administration headed by Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who is today an APC Senator, or is he speaking as Director General of Ladi Adebutu’s governorship campaign in the present caricature of the PDP, a party that bears little resemblance to the formidable political organization it once was and has long since lost much of its relevance and past glory? The distinction matters.

Sogunle cannot conveniently appropriate the achievements of one political era while ignoring what became of the principal figure who defined that era. He cannot invoke OGD whenever he needs the achievements of the OGD administration and then pretend that OGD’s present political affiliation is irrelevant when it becomes counterproductive to his lame argument.

There is an additional irony. OGD was among the top APC figures present at the April 2026 Ogun APC strategic caucus meeting at which Senator Adeola emerged as the party’s consensus governorship candidate. Therefore, Sogunle cannot be more entitled to the OGD political tendencies than OGD himself.

Again, who exactly is “we”?
If “we” refers to the OGD administration, the inconvenient fact is that the man who headed that administration is today an APC Senator.

If “we” refers to the present political organization around Ladi Adebutu, then, Sogunle must explain how the caricature of the PDP acquired exclusive ownership of the achievements of an administration led by a man who has since left the PDP. He cannot have it both ways.

He cannot summon OGD whenever he needs the achievements of 2003 to 2011 and make OGD disappear whenever his present political identity becomes questionable and suspicious. He cannot use OGD’s yesterday while pretending OGD’s today is inconvenient or does not exist. And he certainly cannot convert the record of the OGD administration into a political inheritance for Ladi Adebutu merely because OGD was once belonged to the same political party with Ladi Adebutu.

The bitter truth is that Ladi Adebutu was not the Governor of Ogun State between 2003 and 2011. Kehinde Sogunle was not the Governor either even if was OGD’s brain box at the time. Otunba Gbenga Daniel was.

If the OGD years are to be invoked as evidence in the present political debate, intellectual honesty requires acknowledging not merely the record of that administration, but also the current political trajectory of OGD who led it. Anything less is selective history that brutally stabs OGD in the face.

Indeed, this is where Sogunle’s attack on Senator Yayi becomes pedestrian and almost self defeating. He accuses Senator Adeola of borrowing political talent while attempting to borrow an entire OGD administration for Ladi Adebutu. Unfortunately, that cannot fly.

He complains that Yayi is harvesting from somebody else’s orchard while attempting to carry the entire harvest of the OGD years into Adebutu’s campaign barn.

What is Sogunle’s current assessment of OGD’s political choice? At what point in time did he become Ladi Adebutu’s man Friday or Adebutu’s Monday morning quarterback ? I certainly recognize the fact that people are not mangoes. Political actors are not the permanent property of those under whom they once served. They have conscience, personal convictions and choices. They change parties. They form new alliances. They are entitled to decide where their experience can best be deployed. That is acceptable in any civilized society.

Therefore, if people who once worked within Sogunle’s political tendency now choose to work with Senator Adeola Yayi, perhaps the useful question is not whether Yayi owns the orchard. Perhaps Sogunle should ask why they left the orchard. And if the orchard remains as fertile as he claims, why are so many of its supposed fruits thriving elsewhere?

If anything, Sogunle should stop attempting to use the OGD era as a political certificate for an untested Adebutu governorship.
Adebutu must stand on his own record. He must defend his own program. He must explain his own capacity. The OGD administration cannot become Adebutu’s borrowed certificate of performance.

OGD’s record is OGD’s record.
Adebutu’s record is Adebutu’s record. Yayi’s record is Yayi’s record. Let each be examined accordingly. You cannot inherit another man’s record merely by remembering it with nostalgia.

This is precisely where the attempt to market ITURA DE as some revolutionary blueprint becomes vulnerable to serious scrutiny. Security, local government administration, agriculture, transportation, youth development, regional planning and economic development are legitimate and important policy areas. However, listing sectors is not the same thing as discovering a new philosophy of government.

Calling a program a Rescue Mission does not transform ordinary governmental responsibilities into a revolutionary development doctrine. What precisely is new about promising security, agriculture, transportation, youth development and stronger local government administration? Every serious candidate for governor should have positions on those matters.

The real questions are harder.
What is the implementation strategy and framework? What are the measurable targets? What is the financing model? What institutional reforms will sustain the promises? What distinguishes the program from the familiar catalogue of aspirations Nigerians hear during every election cycle? A slogan is not a strategy. A promise is not a program.

Ogun of 2027 will not be Ogun of 2003. Our population has changed. Settlement patterns have changed. Industrial corridors have expanded. Technology has transformed commerce and public administration. Transportation needs have evolved. The economic relationship between Lagos and Ogun has deepened. Agricultural value chains have changed. Security challenges have changed. The fiscal environment has changed.

A twenty first century government cannot govern by political archaeology. A master plan may contain principles worthy of preservation and updating. However, no serious development strategy should become a museum piece that politicians periodically remove from a cabinet and display as evidence of eternal foresight. Ogun State needs planning for tomorrow, not permanent residency in yesterday. That is also why ITESIWAJU should be examined on its actual proposals rather than caricatured as an imported “Lagos Template.”

Senator Adeola Yayi did not arrive in public life yesterday. His career has taken him through the Lagos State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Today he represents Ogun West. His record, like Adebutu’s, should be examined on evidence rather than metaphor. A road is not a slogan. A classroom is not a metaphor. A health facility is not political poetry.

For all the thousands of words Sogunle devotes to Lagos, master plans, orchards, source codes, consultants and political alumni, there is another subject that cannot be buried beneath rhetoric; Ogun West.

Ogun State was created in 1976. Fifty years later, Ogun West has yet to produce a governor. That historical fact deserves a place in the 2027 conversation. The incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is from Remo. Otunba Gbenga Daniel is also from Remo. Ladi Adebutu is from Remo.

Against that background, the people of Ogun State are entitled to ask what fairness, justice and inclusion should mean in 2027.
At what point does Ogun West get its opportunity? How long should Yewa and Awori wait before their aspiration is accorded the same seriousness as the ambitions of others?

Those are legitimate political questions. They do not determine how anybody must vote, nor do they remove the need to examine competence, programs character and records. However, they cannot simply be wished away by stories about Lagos, SOOTEM, a 2004 master plan or claims that former PDP officials possess Ogun State’s “source code.”

Perhaps, it is against this background that Adebutu’s phrase, Rescue Mission itself deserves closer examination. What precisely is being rescued, from what and by what measurable programme?

There is a difference between presenting a plan for the future and relying upon the accomplishments of a political generation that governed more than a decade ago. There is a difference between respecting past achievements and treating them as an inheritance belonging to today’s campaign.

Yesterday’s achievements are not a promissory note on tomorrow’s government. Most importantly, there is a profound difference between saying “we once served Ogun” and declaring “we hold the source code.”

No, Sogunle. You do not hold the source code. The people of Ogun State do. Ogun civil servants were not PDP employees. The institutions of government were not subsidiaries of a campaign organisation.

You once served. Others served before you. Others have served after you. Others will serve when all of us have left the political stage. That is the humility democracy demands.

Sogunle ends his article dramatically. The music will fade, he says. The comedians will leave and the confetti will be swept away. Indeed, the rhetoric will fade too. The metaphors will disappear. The orchard will disappear. The source code rhetoric will disappear. The claims of political ownership will disappear. What will remain are records, programs and the judgement of citizens.

That is where ITESIWAJU and ITURA DE should meet: in the arena of public scrutiny. Let the programs be examined. Let the costs be questioned. Let the promises be tested. Let previous records be scrutinised. Let Ogun people decide what importance they attach to continuity, change, experience, inclusion and the historic aspiration of Ogun West.

Sogunle quoted me as saying that the ballot will settle it. I stand firmly by those words. The ballot will settle it. Not nostalgia.
Not ownership claims over other people’s political acumen. Not the appropriation of another administration’s achievements.
Not frightening stories about outsiders. Not declarations that one political generation possesses Ogun State’s intellectual DNA.

There is no political estate waiting for anybody to repossess in 2027. There is an election in which every candidate must present his own record, defend his own programme and submit himself to the judgement of the electorate. Nobody owns Ogun State’s engine. Nobody owns its orchard. Nobody owns its political talent. Nobody owns its history. And nobody owns its people.

The late legendary Apala maestro, Ayinla Omowura, once sang: “Inu ń bí àwọn ọ̀tá lásán,” he reminded his enemies that “Olúwa ló ń gbé wa ga; ẹni tí ó bá sọ pé òun á pìtàn, onítọ̀hún á bínú kú lásán.” Envy may produce anger. Rivalry may breed intrigues. Resentment may inspire falsehood and endless attacks. However, none of them determines destiny. If God chooses to lift a person, those consumed by resisting that elevation may ultimately discover that they have exhausted themselves fighting a battle that was never theirs to win.

YAYI MEETS PRESIDENT TINUBU, APPRECIATES SUPPORT FOR OGUN’S $7BN DEEP SEA PORT PROJECT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, YAYI, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, following the President’s return from vacation.

Senator Adeola took time away from his ongoing mobilisation and consultations for his governorship bid and the electoral success of other APC candidates to visit the President and discuss issues relating to Ogun State and the country.

During the meeting, YAYI expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his continued support for Ogun State, particularly the landmark $7 billion Gateway Deep Sea Port and Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone project.

The Senator also discussed other matters of national importance with the President, including the ongoing implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and its impact on economic growth and development.

Senator Adeola expressed confidence in the direction of the country, noting that the reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration are laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth, development and shared prosperity.

PRESIDENT TINUBU HAILS WINNERS OF BY-ELECTIONS IN GOMBE, KANO, BAUCHI AND DELTA STATES

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates the winners of the by-elections held over the weekend in five constituencies across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.



All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates won four of the five seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) secured one.



The successful APC candidates are Kallamu MaiJama’a, Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Husseini Datti, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State; Okolosi Ator, Udu State Constituency in Delta State; and Yakubu Ali, Disina State Constituency in Bauchi State. Adamu Yakubu of the APM won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi State.



The President says the victories recorded by APC candidates once again demonstrate the confidence Nigerians repose in the party’s capacity to govern effectively and deliver shared prosperity.



“I am encouraged by the support Nigerians at the grassroots continue to show for our party and for the difficult but necessary reforms our administration has implemented over the past three years.



“I urge Nigerians to remain steadfast and not be swayed by political opportunism. The benefits of these reforms will become increasingly evident as we enter the next phase of our programme,” President Tinubu says.



President Tinubu urges the winners to justify the confidence their constituents have placed in them through diligent and effective representation.

EKITI ORIGIN ALLEGATION: SENATOR ADEOLA THREATENS LAWSUITS AGAINST HUNYE AND MARCUS-BELLO

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate for Ogun State, has threatened to institute legal action against Hon. Abayomi Hunye, a suspended member of APC from Tube, Ipokia LGA and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over libelous and false statements made on national television stations about him and his family.

Both Hunye and Marcus-Bello have granted interviews on Channel Television programmes where they claimed that Senator Adeola is an Ekiti State indigene among other libelous claims without presenting any evidence of their allegations.

Senator Adeola has therefore given the two characters 24 hours to publicly present evidence of their allegations on his state of origin or face lawsuits on their false and libelous allegations on national television that was widely circulated on other media platforms.

“I watched in utter disbelief as these characters that I hardly know utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof. One falsely claimed on TV that I am from Ekiti and when asked where exactly in Ekiti went moronically blank and could not provide an answer. The other one was lying about the locations of the graves of my parents as if she was part of the undertakers at the burial all in a futile effort to justify an unsustainable falsehood. Enough is enough. They should produce their evidence in 24 hours or be ready for my lawsuits ” the senator stated.

It will be recalled that the rumour of the Senator’s alleged Ekiti State origin was initially used as a propaganda tool to prevent his emergence as Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district but the gimmick failed to prevent the people of the district voting massively for him at the 2023 National Assembly Elections. This resurrection of the falsehood is pursuant of his seemingly unstoppable move to a victorious outing in the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.

Ogun 2027: PDP suffers setback as former Yewa South chairman defects to APC, joins Yayi

Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered another setback in Yewa South Local Government Area.

This is as the former Chairman of the party in the council, Hon. (Chief) Alhaji Rasheed Idowu Falade, has dumped the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Falade, who until his resignation was the Coordinator of the Ladi Adebutu for Governor in Yewa South, was on Sunday formally received into the APC by the party's governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), CON, FCA.

The veteran grassroots politician had at different times served as PDP Chairman, Yewa South Local Government, PDP Chairman, Ajilete Ward, Councillor, Ajilete Ward and Vice Chairman, Yewa South Local Government.

Speaking during his defection, Falade said he decided to join the APC because of his confidence in the leadership, capacity and development agenda of Senator Adeola.

According to him, the landmark achievements facilitated by the Ogun West Senator across the senatorial district and beyond convinced him that YAYI has the competence and vision to lead Ogun State.

He pledged to work with leaders and members of the APC to ensure victory for Senator Adeola and the party in the forthcoming general elections.

At the grandfinale of Oloja Yayi empowerment, Senator Adeola gifts 300m to 4000 Ogun West market men & women.

The Senator representing Ogun West and gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Ogun State for the 2027 elections, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI, CON FCA, on Friday concluded the statewide Oloja Yayi empowerment programme in Ilaro with the disbursement of N75,000 grant each to 4,000 market women and men in Ogun West Senatorial District.

The Ilaro exercise is the final leg of the 5th Edition of the facilitated programme, which had earlier been held in Ogun Central and Ogun East Senatorial Districts. With the conclusion in Ogun West, a total of 10,000 traders across Ogun State have now benefited from the scheme.

Senator Adeola said the fund is a grant and not a loan, intended to add impetus to the businesses of beneficiaries, bring succor to fledgling micro businesses and stimulate economic growth at the grassroots.

PRESIDENT TINUBU EXPRESSES JOY OVER THE RESCUE OF ORIIRE ABDUCTED CHILDREN AND TEACHERS, COMMENDS SECURITY AGENCIES

President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound joy at the successful rescue of the children and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, by the security forces.

President Tinubu praised the heroic efforts of the security agencies, especially the military, the DSS and the police, for working round the clock in the last 56 days to secure the release of the abducted children and their teachers without any collateral damage and for arresting eight of the abductors and neutralising others.

President Tinubu regretted the anguish that the children and their teachers, as well as members of their families and the entire nation, have experienced since the sad occurrence.

For cooperating with the Federal Government in all rescue efforts, President Tinubu commended the Oyo State Government and charged it to ensure adequate security around schools across the state.

"I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Orire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and the arrest of eight of them.

"This successful military operation has ended the siege and standoff of over 50 days and has brought relief to the entire nation and the affected families in particular. On behalf of the country, I express my gratitude to the officers and men of our armed forces, the intelligence agencies and the police for the safe rescue of the children and their teachers.

"My government will get justice for these children and their teachers and for the family of Mr Oyedokun, who the terrorists gruesomely murdered.

"I must commend the government of Oyo State for working cooperatively with us in bringing this unfortunate incident to a successful end," the President said.

President Tinubu has also directed that the emergency agencies work with the Oyo State Government to provide all necessary medical and relief support to the children and the teachers.

Afenifere Commends Abiodun, Sanwo-Olu, IGP, CPs Over Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Banditry Effort

The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for their decisive response to the menace of banditry and kidnapping in both states.

The organisation also lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, as well as the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, for their coordinated efforts in tackling criminal activities along the Ogbere-Sagamu-Ore corridor.

In a letter titled “Afenifere Commends Security Chiefs and Governors for Decisive Action Against Banditry and Kidnapping on the Ogbere-Sagamu-Ore Road”, signed by its National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, the organisation praised the Inspector-General for providing strategic leadership and intelligence-driven policing that has strengthened the fight against organised crime.

According to the group, the unwavering political commitment demonstrated by Governors Abiodun and Sanwo-Olu has created an enabling environment for security agencies to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.

The letter, written on behalf of Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, Leader of Afenifere and Asiwaju of Yorubaland, stated that the prompt and coordinated response of the security chiefs and governors had significantly restored confidence in public safety across the affected areas.

Afenifere noted that the successful operation underscored the importance of purposeful leadership, professional policing and robust inter-state collaboration in combating violent crimes.

The organisation particularly commended CP Ojajuni for his operational knowledge of the Ogbere-Sagamu-Ore axis, while applauding CP Fatai for deploying operational resources, specialised equipment and logistics that contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.

Reaffirming its commitment to a secure South-West, Afenifere declared that the region would remain a hostile environment for kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements.

“The message is unequivocal: ‘Kò sí àyè’—there is no place for evil in Yorubaland. Those who seek to threaten the peace, security and prosperity of our people will continue to face the full weight of the law. The Yoruba people remain profoundly grateful for this exemplary display of courage, dedication and public service,” the letter stated.

It would be recalled that a joint security operation involving personnel of the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands recently led to the rescue of five kidnapped victims less than 24 hours after they were abducted along the Ogbere-Sagamu-Ore Highway, while several suspected criminals were neutralised and others arrested during the operation.

The attention of the Ogun State Government has been drawn to a malicious publication by a blog known as Naijamixed, titled “Cabinet members reportedly prostrate before Ogun State Governor when he is displeased with them.”

The claim that members of the Ogun State Executive Council routinely prostrate before Governor Dapo Abiodun whenever he is displeased with them is a complete fabrication. At no time has any commissioner or cabinet member been required to prostrate before the Governor, nor has such an incident ever occurred.

Even more ridiculous is the claim that the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, prostrates before the Governor. Such a falsehood exposes the reckless and irresponsible nature of the publication.

Professional journalism is founded on facts, verification and fairness. Unfortunately, Naijamixed abandoned these principles in favour of sensationalism, deliberate falsehood and calculated mischief aimed at ridiculing the Governor and creating unnecessary tension in Ogun State.

To support its false narrative, the blog deliberately distorted a widely reported incident involving the state’s local government chairmen. Following the unfounded allegations made by the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Hon. Wale Adedayo, against the Ogun State Government, the chairmen voluntarily appealed to Governor Abiodun on behalf of their colleague. In line with Yoruba culture, they prostrated while pleading for forgiveness.

At no time did Governor Abiodun request, direct or encourage anyone to prostrate before him. The gesture was entirely voluntary.

It is also a matter of public record that the allegations made by Hon. Adedayo were investigated by the Ogun State House of Assembly, while the Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC) confirmed that local government allocations were disbursed through the statutory process and that the Ogun State Government did not divert local government funds. Indeed, the State had, on several occasions, supplemented local government finances to enable the councils meet their obligations.

The incident received extensive media coverage at the time. It is therefore surprising that Naijamixed has chosen, years later, to resurrect the episode and deliberately distort the facts in an apparent attempt to demonise the Governor and mislead the public.

Freedom of expression does not include the freedom to fabricate stories or incite the public through deliberate falsehood. The Ogun State Government therefore urges members of the public to disregard this malicious publication and rely instead on credible sources of information.

Given the inflammatory nature of this publication, the appropriate security agencies are urged to investigate its source and those behind it, with a view to preventing any attempt to create unnecessary tension or undermine the peace currently enjoyed in Ogun State.

The Ogun State Government remains committed to transparency, accountability and responsible engagement with the media in the interest of all citizens.

Progressive Governors Pass Vote of Confidence on President Tinubu, Back Renewed Hope Agenda

The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has passed a firm vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging full support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and backing his re-election bid in 2027. The declaration followed a crucial meeting of the Forum and APC stakeholders held in Lagos and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Announcing the outcome, Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said the decision reflected the Forum’s appreciation of the President’s leadership and ongoing reforms across key sectors. Twelve governors attended the meeting, including Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, alongside their counterparts from Kebbi, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna and Katsina.

In the communiqué issued after the meeting, the Forum reviewed political, economic and security developments nationwide. The governors reaffirmed that all reforms initiated by the administration must ultimately improve the lives of Nigerians and expand opportunities for citizens across rural and urban communities. They commended President Tinubu for stabilising the economy, strengthening national security and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

The Forum also recognised the current cost-of-living pressures and applauded Nigerians for their resilience. Governors pledged to scale up interventions in food production, youth employment, social protection and support for small and medium enterprises, while aligning state policies with federal reforms to ensure citizens in all communities benefit.

On security, the PGF acknowledged improved coordination among security agencies and resolved to strengthen local security architecture, community-based initiatives, intelligence gathering and support for victims. They urged national leaders to promote unity, moderation and inter-ethnic understanding while isolating criminality and hate speech.

The governors also emphasised the importance of strong local governance and committed to deepening transparency and service delivery at the grassroots. They agreed to broaden citizen engagement through consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, labour unions, youth and women’s groups.

Reaffirming loyalty to the APC, the Forum pledged to continue supporting efforts to strengthen internal democracy, party cohesion and inclusiveness. The governors restated their collective responsibility as trustees of the people’s mandate and partners in delivering tangible social and economic outcomes nationwide.

The PGF expressed renewed confidence in Nigeria’s future and called on citizens to remain calm, go about their activities without fear and continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda. They wished Nigerians a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.

During the stakeholder session, Uzodimma urged party members to take President Tinubu’s achievements to the grassroots ahead of 2027.

Press Release: Ogun State to Prosecute DJ Chicken

The Ogun State Ministry of Justice hereby informs the public that it is expediting action on the prosecution of Ademola Abiodun, aka DJ Chicken, in relation to the vehicular incident of 1 November 2025.

On 1 November 2025, Mr Abiodun crashed into two motorcycles in Sagamu, Ogun State, seriously injuring a rider and a lady passenger.

Mr Abiodun was unremorseful and attempted to leave the scene of the incident, which provoked an angry reaction from passersby who mobbed him. At the time, the Ogun State Police Command began investigation and review of the circumstances, mindful to prioritise the medical care, privacy, and recovery of the victims.
Yesterday, 23 November 2025, in Lekki, Lagos State, Mr Abiodun was again involved in another road crash. This lone car incident almost harmed pedestrians, but for good fortune and the pedestrians' quick reflexes.

Yesterday's incident is reportedly the third road crash in two months involving Mr Abiodun at the wheel.
While it may be reasonable to allow crash victims get compensation from persons who have driven recklessly and to resolve road traffic collisions as a civil wrong, some road users are special dangers to society and should be held to account under criminal law.

Mr Abiodun is one such person. At least two of the crashes were documented in real time video coverage and are self-evident. Mr Abiodun's heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the State must intervene to protect the public – especially as there is an organic outcry against his continued driving.

Accordingly, the Attorney-General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice – Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN – has directed relevant officers to expedite action on the pending crash case from Sagamu for prompt arraignment. The Office of the Attorney-General is working closely with the Police to achieve this outcome.
