Tomahawk99, the concept of exorcism is like walking into a room, claiming that there is a cat inside that room, then claiming that a special ritual is needed to get the cat out of the room.


Note that, You have not proven the existence of any cat in the room, but you are only asserting that a cat is in there and can be removed. Exorcism is not evidence for the existence of demons.

Over the years, one thing I have noticed with Nigerians is that they love blaming bad things on demons. Even top government officials blame "evil forces" for the happenings in the country. Which is funny, because there is literally NO evidence for the existence of demons. The belief in demons dates back to the times when man thought that diseases had supernatural causes.

There are so many things that fall under the brand name, "demonic". A neighbor of mine has a son who is clearly mentally challenged (He is schizophrenic), yet every Sunday, his family organises special prayer sessions to deliver him from the demons that are attacking him whenever He is asleep. Schizophrenia is not the only thing that Nigerians think is demonic.

Nigerians have taken the superstitions to a whole new level, by claiming that these demons could enter your body through pornography or watching certain mainstream shows. If you ask them for evidence, they are empty. Every Christmas season some of them refuse to travel to their villages because of their irrational fear of witches/demons. Which again, there is no evidence for. Some of them are so superstitious that they refuse to tell their neighbours and even their family members that they are travelling, because they don't want their "village people" to cause accident.

That's why they fear idols and shrines and when a pastor comes and burn the shrine, they see the pastor as a "powerful" man of God. Meanwhile the shrine was never potent in the first place .

There is no evidence that suggests the existence of demons, change my mind.

I am yet to understand, why God struck done the Tower Of Babel builders and didn't strike down the Wright Brothers from piercing the skies. I am yet to understand why God struck down the Tower Of Babel builders, inflicted confusion among them, yet He didn't stop NASA from leaving the planet and landing on the freaking moon.

I can only think of one reason at the moment: The people that conjured the Tower of Babel story actually thought that God/Yahweh lived in the clouds. (This will explain why characters in the Bible/Qur'an/Torah were always obsessed with "Up" (the skies). Maybe the tower of Babel story is based on an actual event. Maybe the people of.the old, were curious about the clouds and really thought that God lived there. Maybe they set out to build a tower to reach the skies, but the project was unsuccessful, and the tower saw it as a sign of God trying to stop them from reaching him.

The times when the Bible was written were really superstitious times, so I am not surprised when I hear that people of the old believed that God lived in the clouds and that diseases, lack of rain, poor farm produce were caused by "sin".
