My point is about People Burning Harm Full Things and not about "traditional worshippers" Which one is change of post? The people you call witches fall under traditional worshippers. That your religion calls an object like idols , "harmful", doesn't mean you have the right to burn it. |

Christianity Etc › Similarities Between Religion And Cults. by SSIPON(op): 6:04pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
Most religions today started out as cults. Cults are actively looking for new members, just like religion. Cults have a "sacred* meeting day, just like religion. Getting into a cult, is easy, getting out of it is hard and could even lead to loss of life, Just like religion. Cults believe that their own cult is the one and the only and all other cults are wrong, just like religion. Cults have laws that must be followed no matter what, just like religion. Cults have their own dress code, just like religion. Cults advise parents to indoctrinate their children into the cult as early as possible, just like religion. Feel free to add yours |

Christianity Etc › Re: Televangelists, The Pandemic And The Vaccine by SSIPON(m): 5:52pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
Ototuz: You know I have always wondered why some people were against the COVID vaccine when they very much took vaccines when they were young. Then, I started to understand the reason - disinformation. When the pandemic started and the government stepped in to curtail the spread of the virus by restricting social gatherings in places like markets, stadiums, churches and mosques,a lot of pastors around the world were not happy. Why? Because the church is a huge source of revenue for them, and by restricting gatherings, it means there is a lesser chance of people paying their tithes. Some churches are expensive to run, so you could kind of see why pastors like Chris Oyakhilome were keen on calling the virus a hoax.
Before COVID, the antivax crowd was relatively small. But thanks to the huge number of conspiracy theories spread by religious people regarding the origins of the virus, WHO, Bill Gates and the vaccine, the antivax crowd is now bigger than ever. Now the vaccine is out and pastors are discouraging their church members from getting it, by claiming that the vaccine is a sign of the "New World Order" or "Illuminati" or "666". I'm actually not surprised that religious leaders play a huge role in the absurd amount of misinformation and disinformation out there regarding the virus. After all, what do you expect from someone who believes that diseases are caused by supernatural forces, humans can turn into salt or that sticks can turn into snakes and vice versa.
Nigeria is free from polio because of vaccines, but few years back, when the Nigerian government was advocating for the polio vaccines, religious leaders, especially Imams were discouraging their followers from giving it to their kids because apparently, it causes children to be sterile.
A lot of people would blame Trump for playing a huge role in downplaying the virus and causing the growth of the cancerous antivax groups around the world. But I would like to argue that most of the blame should not be on Trump. Most of it should be on religious leaders, because their followers see them as "second to god" or something and infallible humans. Nigerian Pastors are really stupid. |

Dangerousboy: [b]PRESERVING OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE
In the west Africa country of Nigeria for example, many of our cultural heritage are lost, why? Because the forthcoming generation are not being taught. Many can't even speak their local dialects, talk more of preparing their local dishes.
I was amused when I heard a Parent telling her 20 years old son to go and learn their local dialect. I thought, why didn't you teach him when he was younger, it would have been easier. Oga, if you actually cared about culture, you wouldn't have accepted Christianity in the first place. Christianity originated from the middle east and it's alien to Africa. |

Denying the existence of spirits will mean denying the religion, which is why many religious people hold their beliefs ever so dearly, even though there is no evidence to support the existence of ghosts. |
