Choosing a new running mate when it's not a fresh election

LOKOJA —Moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to draft Olusola Olumoroti as the running mate to Yahaya Bello may have suffered a setback as he issaid to have rejected the offer.

This is coming on the heels of protest in Ekinrin Adde,the home town of Hon. James Faleke, running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu during the November 21 election.A source close to the former Mobil employee informed Vanguard that the Kabba-born politician had already turned down the offer. Though no reasonwas given for his action, it may not be unconnected with his loyalty to the Audu/Faleke ticket.A source, who craved anonymity, said all the stakeholders in the Audu/Faleke camp may have been instructed not to have anything to do with the Yahaya Bello ticket.Protest rocks Faleke’s community.

Meanwhile, Ekinrin Adde, the home town of Hon Faleke has been rocked by protests as motorists were held hostage by rampaging youths of the community.The youths are protesting against the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare Faleke as the governor-elect of the state.One of the protesters, Ayorinde Tanimola, accused INEC of bias, saying there was no need for supplementary poll as Audu had already won the election before his death.He said: “What INEC should have done was to declare Faleke the governor-elect.

The supplementary poll slated for Saturday was a declaration of ethnic war against the Okun people of Kogi State.“It is immoral to bring Yahaya Bello, who worked against the party, to reap the work of Audu and Faleke. APC has shown that it is worse than PDP andwe will fight this case with the last drop of our blood.”The protest lasted for hours before security agents restored normalcy.

I don't care what backlash I will get from my igala people. I dare to say that if by our laws the late Audu's running mate James Faleke is now the party's flagebearer, then Jibrin Isah Echocho should be made his running mate and the Igalas should give their total support. I don't believe in tribalism I believe in oneness, competence and opportunities. I see an opportunity to groom the only known Igala person that can enjoy 10% of the love and acceptability the late Prince Audu enjoyed and thats the bigger picture for me. The Igalas urgently need a pointman and Echocho is just our only candidate. The death of Audu is a big test for tthe igalanation and we must not fail. If James Faleke was good for our late hero, then we should honour our late hero. He was comfortable with Faleke and loved Echocho. The Hausas were put to the GEJ test they gave support in 2011 and passed. The Igalas cannot fail. I would rather build the future (Echocho) than be driven by pride and sentiment of today( Wada). All am saying is, if it's possible by law. What is the position of the Law?

Lighthouse Family were an easy listening duo that were popular in the nineties. The group is made up of Babatunde Emanuel Baiyewu and Paul Tucker. They were known for their inspirational and heartfelt lyrics, and bare instrumentals. There are currently rumors of a comeback and we really hope so, as their music had a power reminiscent of the height ofthe best of nineties music. They released a total of three albums; Ocean Drive, Postcards from heaven, and Whatever gets you through the day. They won the Echo Award for Best International Pop/Rock Group and numerous nominations.

4. KEZIAH JONES
Keziah Jones born Olufemi Sanyaolu is a Nigerian Singer-Songwriter and guitarist. Keziah Jones is known for the funk highly audible in his sound. He once described his guitar style thus; ‘I play my guitar like a percussion instrument’. This technique createsa bouncy feel to his music along with his picturesque lyrics. Keziah Jones has recorded eight studio albums(Blufunk is a fact, African Space-craft,Liquid sunshine,Black Orpheus,Black Orpheus Limited Edition,Rhythm is love-best of,Nigerian Wood and Captain Rugged). Keziah Jones born into the wealthy Sanyaolu Family, lived a bohemianlifestyle and it was in this life while busking on the streets of Paris that Keziah’s talent was discovered and has also provided the background for his eclectic live performances. Nneka Lucia Egbuna was born in Enugu, southeast of Nigeria. She however relocated toGermany at a young age. Nneka came to lime-light with her ska-groove single ‘Heartbeat’. The single was a world-wide hit and was the reason for tours in North-America and Europe. Nneka has five studio albums in total, Victim of Truth(2005), No longer at Ease(2008), Concrete Jungle(2010), Soul is Heavy(2012), and My Fairytales(2015). She was a former coach on local music talent discovery show, Nigerin Idols. Her music has heavy influences of afrobeat, reggae, and ska(a slower version of reggae).
