Politics / Fg Failed To Reach Compromise With Labour: Matter Arising by Stan017: 8:05am On Jan 16, 2012
Two meetings between the federal government and labour held on Saturday and Sunday failed to reach a compromise, as labour insist on N65 per litre for fuel pump price in line with the demands of Nigerians all over the world. This morning however, President Goodluck Jonathan announced that petrol price is reduced from N141 to N97. In response, Labour unions have said that strike would go on but street protests are suspended because of the “political dimension it has taken”.
This recent development is a clear pointer to the insensitivity of the Jonathan’s led government to the plight of the Nigerian people. While we commend the steadfastness of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliate organizations, we state that the NLC has no prerogative to call off the Occupy Nigeria street protests. We warn that the Occupy Nigeria protests transcends beyond the removal of fuel subsidy, it is a spontaneous reaction of the Nigeria people to the economic contradictions which bad leadership has brought to every home. Any attempt to forcefully douse peaceful demonstrations could spur the venting of pent-up frustrations through other aggressive means.
The Federal Government’s new strategy of attacking certain political personalities who have so far shown solidarity with the course of the Nigeria people is a betrayal of the Nigeria people’s mandate and an affront on our collective will.

Politics / Is Everybody In Nigeria Scared Of Boko Haram? by Stan017: 9:40am On Nov 25, 2011
Fellow Nairalanders

Reading through newspapers and following-up comments made on facebook and twitter, it seem to me that Boko Haram has succeeded in sinking fear into the entire Nigerian populace. I am sorry if i am wrong, cause i am not in the country.

Even our so called firebrand progressives, activists and unionist are all scared to openly make comments about Boko Haram. Its seem that the Wole Soyinkas of the world, the Oshiomoles, the Falanas, the Abubakar Umars, the Agbakobas, the Obahiagbons, Bakares, just to name a few, have all chickened out. All countries of the world are begining to send warning signals to their investors about the security problems in Nigeria. Slowly, Nigeria is loosing its bid to compete in the evolving world order. This is happening at a time that South Africa has positioned itself amongst the league of BRIC nations to dorminate the next order. It beats my imagination that after years of struggle for self realisation the entire Nigerian populace is gradually surrendering to a mere Islamic sect, even at the brink of victory. Generations yet unborn will not forgive us.

I hereby call on the Nigeria Civil Society group to stage a Ten Million Man march against Religious Violence in Nigeria in Abuja. In my opinion, this will send a strong signals to members of the sect and indeed the international community. Nigeria is no terrorist nation and we cannot allow our progressive to be retarded by a few miscreants.

Ehoi:

I think the governor of edo state is right up there with him. I give the edge to edo state governor because he has to first find the money to bring about development, a problem fashola does not have. People in edo state seem to be in shock with the development springing in front of their eyes and the bigger surprise is where the governor got the money from because everyone knows edo state does not have money. Its not surprising these two governors are from AC. Others states needs to learn from this. Some people can easily excuse the wonderful things Fashola is doing in Lagos claiming Lagos state have money. But when you consider what is going on in edo state, a state that does not have money, the difference between PDP and AC is very clear.

I think say u don dey crase, abi u dey mad. Is it by tarring or planting flowers in ring road for everbody to see? Didnt u hear that Ambrose Alli University school fees was increased from N18,000 to N50,000? Have u driven past Siloku road recently, i bet u car will be grounded, Hav u driven past Textile mill road? Or try go to Uniben after the rains, Or is it by using State Money to flag off IBB's campaign? In a State where Dele Giwa is from? A man whose death is still hanging over IBB's head? Please watch what u post for people to read

Politics / Re: Oshiomole - I Will Invite Ibb Again If The Opportunity Calls. by Stan017: 9:18am On May 03, 2010
Oshiomole is a disgrace to Nigeria Civil Society. What he has exhibited is his true nature. Remember during his farwel speech as NLC President when he refused to make a single statement on Obasanjo's Third Term Agenda because of his political ambition. It is a shame that his form of activism lacks morals.

Opon assumption of office as Governor, he refused to say a word about the corruptive leadership of Lucky Igbinedion because they are old time friends. The news of his resolve to contest 2011 as IBB's Vice President is just filtering into the air. We are waiting

Politics / Would You Vote For Ibb/oshiomole Candidacy Come 2011? by Stan017: 10:40am On May 02, 2010
The signs are glaring. It was meant to be a One man One Vote Rally. Members of Nieria Civil Society were conned to attend together with IBB and David Mark. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/04/29/soyinka-tinubu-shun-ibb-mark-at-benin-rally/.

My thinking is that the IBB campaign team resolved that Oshiomole is the only figure in the Niger Delta that can dislodge Jonathan candidacy and at the same time give credibility to IBB before the Nigeria Civil Society Groups [IBB's worst nightmare because of June 12]. Oshiomole in his part sees the IBB's offer as a means to actualizing his ambition to become Nigeria's President in 2015.

If we are confronted with the ticket, would you vote for the pair?

Others come behind him. The closest person to him is dead ABACHA

Arguements in this forum is a reflection of Nigeria's educational system. We are talkin about a President who cannot make his points in simple and correct english and Nigerians are talking in his favour. Did you listen to that interview? , "To some persons it could be goodluck and to some others it is a disaster", coming from a president? With PHD? Abeg Naija make una think
