georgee: I'll use the Deco mesh system below to explain. I stay in a house with 3 floors. Ground, 1st, 2nd floors. Starlink on 2nd Floor, all i have to do is plug one of the 3 deco nodes to the Starlink on the 2nd floor, then simply go down to the 1st floor, plug the 2nd Deco to a socket for power of course and then go down to the ground floor and plug the 3rd one. As you plug more Decos they talk to each other and join the network. You set it up with the Deco app on your phone. Now my mesh network is setup. I name it whatever I want. (Naming comes after plugging the first one sha pol). 2nd Floor Deco is collecting internet from Starlink router via LAN and sharing it to 1st floor Deco via Wifi. (You can also use LAN which is actually prefered for better speeds. But you have to run cables). 1st Floor Deco now with Internet is sharing the internet to the ground floor deco via Wifi also. Or cable again if you want as each deco X55 has 3 LAN ports behind them. One to receive, 2 to share. So thia creates like a WiFi "BUBBLE" around the whole house. And all you have to do is connect to the Deco mesh network Wi-fi SSID (Network name). That's all. As you move through the house, the deco system will automatically be switching you to the most optimal node closest to you using AI. So if I was in the garage for instance on the ground floor of course, I'll most likely be connected to the node on the ground floor. And all this is done intelligently and not like disconnect and connect it just kinda slides you to the nearest node because it's just as if you have one very powerful router that's covering a big area. So even if you have a warehouse as big as a football stadium, all you have to do is buy maybe 20 Decos and just be plugging them around. Liter them around lol. And in this way. The whole warehouse has good wifi signal while the Actual Internet router is at one corner. E probably no even cover the 18 yard box area. I hope this helps. Cheers 1 Like

georgee: The performance will be noticeably worse. If you want good speeds, invest in a good mesh system like my boss @toluxa1 or at least a dual band router |
Phones / Re: Starlink Unboxing & Speedtest In Nigeria by Stanley08(m): 7:32am On Apr 08, 2023 |
Bossman: @georgee I was going to suggest this, don't name them the same thing like seunpayne suggested. Use different names so you can tell where your problem is coming from lol. If it's not mesh, it can't be seamless like mesh so no need to stress yourself. The only way to get access one of 2 access points with same SSID (WiFi name) is turning one off. The mental gymnastics no worth am |
Phones / Re: Starlink Unboxing & Speedtest In Nigeria by Stanley08(m): 10:03am On Apr 07, 2023 |
georgee: Lol no lie for my head, I no yab anybody. Both devices will share wifi. 2 access points with different wifi ranges. I would imagine. For best speeds, you need to be closer to the access point especially if it's range isn't great. So basically. Running a long cable downstairs and then connecting the second router downstairs. I'll always advice that you setup your Starlink router where you spend the most time or at least in a central location, but yh I also understand that this isn't always possible. |

toluxa1: It happens, I'm not sure why. My guess is router firmware updates maybe. Also, stop calling router, Inverter Check Starlink app. Settings > Advanced. How long has your router been on for? Was that the last time you restarted it? I'm talking about "Uptime". |
Phones / Re: Starlink Unboxing & Speedtest In Nigeria by Stanley08(m): 5:16am On Apr 06, 2023 |
toluxa1: My advice is that you should just leave it alone, I'm guessing you are using iPhone and MacBook? As it happened to me, my MacBook Pro M1 Max & iPhone 14 Pro Max stopped seeing the 5GHz frequency. While my Pixel 6 & 7 with my old iPhone X had no problem latching on. If you must do something, I advice that you reboot both the Starlink and the Router, that's all. Don't factory reset anything. Or maybe split it and unsplit it a couple of times. However I don't think all these are necessary. I also found out that on iPhones it can take up to 30s to find 5GHz wifi networks so also maybe try staying on that wifi scanning screen a while. Also make sure your phone and computer are updated to their latest firmware versions. I don't have to worry about all these anymore as my Deco X55 Network handles all of this now. I can force any supported device to latch on to the 5GHz network (see photo below). Even though it's not even necessary as there's a deco node in every room where these devices spend most of their time lol. And i have zero complaints are the photos below show.

toluxa1: Did you untick 'Split 2.4/5GHz Networks' in settings? If you did, that's why. If you didn't then do. The phone will latch on to the 5GHz frequency when you are close to the router. And you can confirm under 'Network' in the Starlink app. Cheers. |

ibawon: Yeah, it be like that. Mine sef is like that. They are charging me on 11th. I have to remember to unlock my card sef so they can charge it. I no dey leave dollar card open abeg. Anyways, Starlink service starts counting from the day you place the order. So the first month subscription is part of the purchase money or let's say it's free. But it starts counting from the day you order I believe so if it takes one month to reach you. Pele akanbi. The card on my friend's Starlink got missing so he blocked it and got a new card from his bank. Till now he has been unable to update the card on his account and he has tried many cards. The problem is from Adyen, Starlink's payment processor. He has tried Grey, Payday, Gotok, Standard Chartered, GTB, my credit card didn't work, even the card currently on my Starlink account didn't work. It's been 2 months now, he is owing Starlink 2 months payment but the thing is still working. However the bill is piling up, I'm sure it will stop at some point and never work again till the balance is settled. 1 Like 1 Share |

Onepiece007: You are part of the problem. The reason why people that need it can't see it to buy. Anybody that buys from a 3rd party, if you run into any problems you go regret your decision. Even for those that bought from Starlink direct, support is a problem. It's now you that went to buy bend down select Starlink. Okay sha. 4 Likes |

georgee: Every cell is a 15mile hexagonal surface area. So it's very possible you have ordered your Starlink to a different cell and it won't work well at your own address because there's no way to tell if you are at the centre or close to the edge of this hexagonal area (your address' cell). Hopefully you'll be able to connect without issues, but if you experience any problems you know why now. Alternatively, you can always add portability or roam at an extra cost. However, Speed Priority is given to people with fixed addresses. See photos below

georgee: dustmalik: This isn't correct, it's not because of Fibre or Highbrow areas, nothing like that. It's because these areas are at capacity, it's written on their website that they will stop shipping to certain areas to avoid congestion when satellites serving there areas are at full capacity. If not, everybody's speed will be slow and everyone loses. So when someone disconnects from these areas OR more Satellites are available to serve these areas then the next person on the waitlist gets their Starlink shipped. This also explains why they are charging some people only $42 for reservation/waitlist instead the full $600. (see screenshot below) Also if you want to change your address, they warn you that you may not be able to change back to your current service address for the same reason above (see screenshot below) Why is this happening? This is caused by those FOOLS! And yes, i said fools. The fools that are ordering tens and hundreds of Starlink devices to resell because they don't understand how it works. They think it's just like MTN MiFi that you just buy and connect. Till someone in an area at max capacity buys it for 580K and can't connect. Then them go get heart to heart talk for Police station. I said it that Nigerians will abuse this Starlink thing and it is already happening. Now many people who need the service can't access it because of greed and sheer stupidity of few. 2 Likes

Alienwarfare: It was happening to me initially, my iPhone 14 Pro Max and MacBook Pro M1 were not seeing the 5GHz frequency while my Pixel 6, 7 & iPhone X were seeing it perfectly fine. After a while, everything could see the 5GHz fine. And it's even more efficient now that I have a mesh system installed. Just give it a while. It might be a router update. Those happen automatically. But yh, you can attempt rebooting the Starlink and router but no guarantee that would work. 1 Like |

seunpayne: This is wrong. Gigabit speeds or not, better Mesh system means better WiFi performance especially. The Deco X20 will perform worse than X55 even on Starlink and the X55 worse than the XE75. And they are all Gigabit mesh systems. The only time you should not bother about performance is when you are connecting the mesh nodes to LAN cables in each of their locations. @Toluxa1 Are you connecting each node to LAN cables or via WiFi? I went with the Deco X55 only because I don't need MAXIMUM speeds on the other 2 floors. I was even tempted to go with a Tri-Band system like the XE75 which dedicates one band ONLY for the nodes to talk to each other while the other 2 bands are free for Internet, but na budget sef stop me. Use 10LANDPET code on Amazon to get 10% off any Deco mesh system of your choice. You are welcome The last 2 paragraphs are for Toluxa1 lol |

toluxa1: 1. Starlink router has 'okay' range at best. If you are going to use on more than one floor, you need an extender. If you have money. Get a Triband one like the XE75. 2. Same people that installed my Solar Panels installed my Starlink. 3. Main Deco plugs into the Starlink and becomes a router on it's own. Then you can plug in other decos around as many as you want and they'll all talk to each other and create a WiFi bubble so that you always stay connected all around the house without disconnecting and connecting to another router / extender. Mesh network. It's seamless. Starlink has their own Mesh system. One is $185 but I paid same amount for 3 Deco X55. 4. I think so yes. Just make sure it's for Gen 2 Dishy. They would usually write it in the description or product name. Alot of Nigerians have been reselling Starlink for 580K. Nonsense. Abusing it already. How will buyers pay for their renewal? Which account did they order it with? If they need to change address, how? Anyways, these 'unnecessary' vendors are the cause of the shortage. People will not find real work or business, they turn everything into business.
