ezzylee: FibreOne has been a lifesaver for me since I moved to Gbagada. Approximately 12k pere and I'm not worried about any FUP, Data caps or Speed throttling. There are days when speed can be slow or they have downtimes, but that happens less than 5% in a month.
FibreOne, when it works it works. When it doesn't... Na tears. Can't forgive those guys for keeping me offline for 60hrs mhen. After alot of dragging and pestering. They added 2days to my expiry date. After it expired in February.
dustmalik: It should work. My current service address is about 8km from my actual address and totally outside of my Starlink hexagonal area, and it works fine. I had to use the service address because my hexagonal area has reached capacity.
Just make sure to use the nearest service address to your actual physical address, outside of your hexagonal area, and it will work.
I have done that already, just haven't been able to get someone to climb the roof. No roof access so it's a bit tricky. Should get someone by tomorrow tho.
Also, thanks for the info, I had hope that it would work, but just wasn't sure.
I have moved to a new address and my current address is waitlisted but less than 5 miles from my new address, I was able to set my location to that place.
Hopefully when I finally hang my Starlink, i will get reception. Pray for me 😭
moodyguy: Can this Starlink be used to set up a cybercafe of 20systems?
Cybercafes are still a thing? Hopefully Starlink doesn't notice it's being used for commercial purposes and do something. Because there are business plans too. Not only residential.
Bonzojoko: you can update/switch your card on starlink. I was using payday before but I switched card recently to gotok. It's easy. The new card will now be the card used for monthly transactions
My friend has been unable to switch since. They have even sent him disconnection notification. He has tried all the possible cards. Payday, Gotok, etc even my bank cards. Nothing
Snart303: I must pay every month for subscription ? I can’t choose to opt out at any point in time ?
I never really thought about it this way. I guess you mustn't as you can decide to not fund the card. If it's that kinda of card. But yh, in a way you must. I feel like there's a way to pause your service tho.
georgee: Mine went off when the rain went 'Gaga' and immediately came back when the rain subsided
I think heavy will affect it while it will work during mild/medium rain
My observation
Pretty much Accurate. Because I still see 60 Mbps while it was raining a few days ago. Spectranet never see that one even when all things bright and beautiful.
Bossman: I agree. The need for 24 hours electricity is a huge factor. No power means no internet. As I have posted here multiple times...until the power situation in the country is resolved, the country will continue to lag behind. Everything runs through electricity. Constant electricity is critical!
If you have 450K to spend on Internet, you also have money to get a powerbank that will keep it on.
seunpayne: Amazing. So I’ve never been hung up on speed tests. Starlink is fast! The only thing available that is faster is my office wifi and MTN 5G. One is only for work and the other hardly ever works. Everything I’ve thrown at starlink, it has handled effortlessly. Still waiting for heavy rain to see what the experience is like but so far…great buy for me
Bonzojoko: the max speed I have gotten in a speed test is 260mbps(32MB/s) and I have gotten it more than once but while downloading a large file like a video game of 40gb size, I download at an average speed of 15MB/s. Sometimes it goes up to 23MB/s before going back down to 15MB/s. You can only get high speeds by connecting to the 5ghz band. I don't know how he is getting unreal speed
Max I've gotten is 51MB/s that's 408Mbps. Only for a second.
dustmalik: Here is a video posted by someone who is using Starlink in Kwara, but the download speed he is getting is unreal and doesn't make sense. I really don't understand what's going on in that video.
Lol. It's PSX nau. He is using you guys to catch cruise. LMAO!
That's the download speed between his PS5 & his laptop. The files are on his laptop. That's the speed it's transferring it from his laptop to his PS5. I mean the 240Mbps at the end makes it obvious. Because 200MB/s is 1.6Gbps Internet. HOW?! Lol.
toluxa1: I did advance speed test now and I don't understand how I'm getting this high speeds. Device to router speed shouldn't be more than Router to Internet speed. Maybe a glitch?
Simply put,
Left - What your device is capable of connected to that router/access point. (Speed between phone & router) Right - What the actual speed of your internet connection is. (Speed between Starlink & Satellite).
So one is showing what your device can do. The other is showing what the actual thing it's doing is, lol.
I've bought for my branch office at delta state which has been delivered and installed early this month so I wanna pay for the subscription but it tells me unable to make payment
Now I wanna buy for my office at Victoria Island but it's not available on the map that's why I'm asking if anyone makes use of it on the island
Okay. Starlink isn't available to order at the moment for most of Lagos. So you'll have to pay and wait in line I believe.
Snart303: Ok thanks sir, so do I basically have to purchase directly from the Starlinks official website? cuz I’ve been on the website to try to purchase while I was trying to I was asked to input I think
1. Service Address is your house address or the address you out when you were buying it. 2. Router is powered by mains. Nepa / Gen. By a wall socket. 3. It's unclear what the data cap is in Nigeria or if there's one at all however, 1TB Peak hours (7am-11pm) data is more than enough. 11pm - 7am data isn't calculated towards this 1TB as it's off peak data usage. 4. Lol. Every service has it's moments, everything has it's disadvantage. Starlink like DStv doesn't work well when it's raining but still, Starlink is in many ways the best ISP in Nigeria. Bang for buck especially. 5. Yes, charged from the same card you paid with on Starlink website. If you don't have a dollar card, check first post on the first page. Payment is $42.16 per month automatically debited. 6. You can change your service address if you move to a different address, I'm moving soon and will need to do so myself.
Any other questions you have, you can read through the thread, most of those questions have been answered here and on Starlink's website. Cheers!
easyyoke: Is anyone experiencing this constant network issues. It isnt really affecting my download speed or internet experience. I get as high as 20MB/s download speed(150mbps) and the lowest I get most times is 3MB/s(24mbps). And all my video streams in 4K(Netflix, Amazon Prime, Showmax, DSTV Now) all stream perfectly. But when I check the app and see this, I am usually wondering, is this normal. My dishy is placed somewhere with zero obstruction
Yeah Starlink wasn't great yesterday. Nothing extraordinary, just one of those days. Tested 150Mb/s now seems it's back to it's best now.
