Growing up in the 80s everybody owned battery torches in my neighborhood.. I've read 20s and 30s American novels where use if torch lights were mentioned.. life didn't just start with your birth in the 90s

People have been using torchlight as far back as 1970.
My grandparents even owned bicycles with lights that flash at night as you ride them according to my dad. Sometimes this generation think things like torch started with rechargeable lanterns.
