But these “just girlfriends” are potential candidates for wife so when will it be right to check for wife level qualities? What are these wife level qualities by the way?
There was a time the first thing to come to mind would be the ability to pound yam. Strangely though, that is still a major bonus point today. Potential mothers in law want to hear stuff like that, better still, they want to see her handle the pestle and throw it like Thor wields his hammer but not everybody is or can be Thor. If your potential husband was raised to believe that every good wife must be able to pound yam, just know you have failed.
Of all the qualities checked in the past, the most important were:
– Religion
– General character
– Physical appearance
– Name/ family background
– Tribe (and nationality where relevant)
– Ability to cook on A-level grade (including pounding and cooking tradition specific soups)
– Humility and respect (including calling every child “broda”)
– Hard work and energy (including things like fetching water from an external source)
All the above after the lady must have passed the bobo level tests of loyalty, love, beauty, “presentability” and patience.
First visit to meet his mum, it is a cordial visit but you know it’s arguably the most important assessment session of your life. But how effective and relevant are these things being checked against the reality on ground?
What makes a lady a “wife material”?
I believe it varies from place to place and the importance of some factors are according to personal choice and circumstance but things like Religion and tribal sentiments need to be addressed first and settled. Next is health compatibility (including but not limited to blood genotype tests).
That’s like getting the answer sheet ready before the real exam to validate:
– Character
– Humility
– Patience
– Perseverance
– Love
– “Upgradability”
These are the primary constituents off which all the other secondary characteristics needed for a successful home are formed. They are the things we need to be checking for not whether she can prepare Edikang-Ikong soup or not.
Not everybody will ace every individual primary constituent but the overall score needs to be good enough by your assessment. In other words, you get to call the shot so you are responsible for the outcome.

My advise to you:

Any guy who wid do such to a lady clearly doesn't value his relationship with her.or he doesn't know the worth of such a kind hearted lady .

That said.
Give him space..break up with Him..
Tell him you found someone else..
Then see his reactions...
If he so apologizes to you and cum begging
Stand firm and dnt give in.


If he really cares, trust me he will do everything to get you back. Everything.
From his actions you will decide

If he doesn't do dat very well
Then my Dear .move on with your life. Its hard but do it cuz something great awaits a kind lady like you..

A lady should be financially independent,she shouldn't depend on her man.that just makes her a gold digger..

Her man may assist her once in a while ,just as she may do the same,if need be.
