Hi guys. Please this is urgent. I am about to register for the GRE exam at this lesson center in Surulere (this is where I’m doing my GRE lesson). It costs 65,000 here for the GRE exam registration but I’ve met 5 other lesson centers that charged me 88k, 96k, 120k, $205, $230 respectively for the same GRE exam registration. Now I’m a bit confused. Do I go with the one in Surulere? Is that the correct fee? And why do the other lesson centers charge different fees? I asked 2 of them and they said that people charge what they can for the exam registration. |
I totally understand that but think about this. Who gets affected if they choose to be lazy and not do their own research? They’re the only ones who will suffer from their ignorance. There’s just nothing wrong with including the university name after visa approval. Those posts inspire A LOT of people. The ones who refuse to do their own research and find the university that will fit them perfectly will suffer the consequences of that action. mayDtolu: |
Nope. 1- The Nigerian mentality here is hiding the name of your school like you don’t want to see another Nigerian in your class when you start your studies. It also doesn’t really concern you if they choose not to put in any effort or be lazy in their research because it would come back to haunt them later on. No 2 applications are the same 2- It’s not a valid question. Do you think there aren’t thousands of students from other countries applying to the same university? But when it comes to Nigeria, some Nigerians see it as a problem when they do not own the school. 3- There’s nothing to be confused about. The point of my post is this- “what is the big deal in sharing the name of the school you’re accepted into after you’ve gotten your visa approval? This platform exists to help one another. No need to xyz the name of your school because whether you like it on not, you’ll meet a Nigerian there. Like I said before, another person’s light doesn’t dim yours and no one “demands” others to share the name of schools they were accepted into. I hope I cleared the air up for you. TWoods: |
Hi Bright. Please DO NOT start your study permit application in December when your program starts in January because from what I’ve studied on Nairaland, it takes 4-12 weeks (sometimes more) to get a decision on the visa application. Also, you can make the payment for your tuition to reserve your spot and I don’t think you’re required to apply for your study permit immediately. Just don’t apply too late. I hope this helps Oviebright: |
What is so wrong with sharing the name of school you’re accepted into after getting your visa approved? I don’t know if it’s a Nigerian mentality but it’s entirely icky. I remember going through Nairaland and seeing a post by someone here saying that she doesn’t understand why so many Nigerians will apply to one school. Just imagine that thought. I agree that there may be “lazy” people that will reach out to you for assistance on application or whatnot but you can choose to help or tell them to do their research. Isn’t this platform made to assist one another? One person’s light doesn’t stop your own light from shining. Pefuele: |
Oh my! Don’t lose hope. Whatever you decide to go for, certainly try again. You’ll definitely get it.l Spectro: |
Oh my goodness!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!! I’m sooo happy for you! Chimahsom: |
So sorry about this. Repackage your application and certainly try again but as the gurus have stated, order your GCMS notes first Silas12345: |
I’ll hopefully be renewing mine this week (depends on when I get my NIN) but it’s 50,000 in festac (for people over 20/21) Oreoluwamipo: |
Oh alrighty. What's the cost of registration? While making enquiries, I got different figures from different agencies and lesson centers. Yeah there are lessons. You get the choose the duration you want tho Nozino: |
Oh no, not for admittance. The application portal for the uni I'm interested in opens up on the first of September to accept applications for Fall 2022 and I plan to apply in September even though the deadline is 1st of February 2022. In regards to funding, I personally think it's better to have all required documents prepared early. Even though early decision may start in December or January, you will need a lot of time for preparation so it's better to take the required exams much earlier. Are you making payment for the registration or to start lessons? I haven't written it before but I've gone through this thread and I have seen some sample questions so all that's left for me to do is honestly prepare well. Nozino: |
As far as I know, the cheapest Canadian uni is Memorial University. Also, most universities in Canada waive IELTS for Nigerian students. orlarjydey: |
God's grace, next year I'll be applying for my study permit. I have learnt a lot reading from everyone here. I originally planned to use an agent for my study permit application but the cost and their possible lack of care is a concern. I feel a bit tensed looking at samples of the application and going through people's timelines because I really want to get it right but I know when the time comes to apply for my permit next year, this is a safe place for me to ask questions and seek advice. Good luck to all the hopeful PPRs for this month and through the year. You will all hear good news on your applications |
When was the deadline? If you applied months before the deadline, you should have gotten a response already but if you applied around the deadline, it takes 2-3 months to get a response from them concerning your admission. You can ty emailing the school concerning this. Is is for Fall 2021? Ayindesegun10: |
I think the sooner the better. I'm writing mine in August/September (which is a bit late but no p) I was told that scholarship/funding applications close pretty early so it's best to write the exam soon and apply to schools early if you're looking for funding. I'll be applying to schools towards the end of September. I'm currently preparing for the GRE and also preparing all the documents I will need for application. Nozino: |
Hi Winta. The way I got my own personal copy of my transcript was through my school’s portal (I just downloaded it) Now, after you’ve been given admission, the international university would required a copy of your transcript to be sent to them directly from your uni. This can be done either through email or courier (by your school) depending on whatever method the international university requires. winta2007: |
So sorry for this. You can regroup and definitely try again. mullingtee: |
Really? Then I’ll just get mine this month. Thank you sooo much. atiteb4: |
atiteb4:It’s for admission. The application portal opens in September and I want to apply in September (although the deadline for my post graduate program is 1st of February 2022) Is it too early to get the English proficiency letter from my university or do I wait till August? |
Guys please I need a response. Is it fine to get the English proficiency letter from my school this month even though I intend to apply in September? Steph1738aye: |
Hi guys. The application portal for my program will open on the 1st of September and I intend to apply in September (although the deadline for the program is 1st of February 2022) Now the thing is that, instead of writing the IELTS, I can get a letter from my school stating that the mode of instruction was in English. When do you think is the best time to get this letter? My original plan was to get it sometime in August but now I’m considering emailing my school so I could get it this month. (I’m just confused )Currently I’m preparing to write the GRE in August. |
Themaths:Thank you soooo much! I’ve checked it out. |
Iffylove:I don’t know if you’ve gotten a response yet but I don’t think you have you download it unless you’re downloading the app on your phone on iOS or App Store? But you could just go to the website, copy your sop and paste it in the box on grammarly |
Gahneeyah:I don’t know if you have gotten a response yet but you’ll be given a PGWP for 3 years. I saw on the Canadian govt. website that as long as your program is from over 16 months, it qualifies for a 3 year PGWP |
Lianna2020:Okay... yes. Also for your acceptance letter. Did it come after the deadline? There are some schools that wait till after the deadline to send our acceptance letters. |
iampaulsmith:This makes me sooo happy ! Congratulations!!!! It’s raining PPR oooo May it be like this for us that will be applying next year! |
Lianna2020:Hi lianna Congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for this news. Could you please shed more light on the available scholarships and how you applied? I also plan to go for my mba next year (January/September) depending on the school! Congratulations again! |
New thread! I pray everyone PPR hopefuls receive good news in this new week and new thread. I’ve learnt a lot from everyone here and I too will be starting my admission application soon |
fairheart:Thank you soo much. Stephieebabi@gmail.com |
Hi guys. My name is Stephanie and I’m looking to apply for Memorial University’s MBA program this year for the fall intake next year. I’m still in the process of reading the entire thread but I’d like to know if anyone knows the timeline for the GRE exam for this year. I hope to start my lessons soon but money is being held up in a few places. Is there any exam date for August and September in Lagos? |
sweetchi2411:Done |
moonfc:I’m interested as well. Especially for potential students (looking towards fall 2022) |
