stanley102: Good evening house. Please I need advices. I have a B.sc in Mathematics but passionate about the finance/accounting world. I would love to upgrade my qualifications to suit my passion but I'm confused on the path to toe. Should I go for an MBA or an Msc (finance)? With a 2:1 (Mathematics) and a few months post-NYSC working experience, will I be offered admission into any of these programmes? Thanks... bro..i think since u have already have a good Bsc, all u need is a certification like ICAN, ACCA or CFA if u want a career in accounting/finance to start with(for entry level),...then along the line (with years of experience) u can acquire an MSC or MBA. ................................................................ infact without ICAN, ACCA or CFA, you can't be a "charted" accountant or "chartered" financial analyst as the case may be. --------------------------------------------------- I would also advice u visit jarushub . com, one of the best site on career advice,he's also on nairaland as jarus meet him for advice. |

NYSC › Re: How Much Did You Make During Your Nysc Service Year? by stephano100(m): 8:28am On Jan 11, 2016 |
sundayslim: I served in 2013 and funny enough in kebbi state. During my NYSC, I made around 400 thousand naira aside my alawee.
Let me quickly explain.
1. I offered to assist fellow corps members to save their money (Cuz its hard not to spend it) and in exchange they pay me 1k per month. I had about 50 people patronizing me during NYSC.
2. I helped polytechnic students type their final year projects and assignments at cheaper rate. God blesses me and my boss in my ppa allowed me use the office printer for free so I was making around 10-15k per week from this.
3. I taught in a private school as side runs. I was favoured in the sense that I only come when I have a class and leave once I'm done. I was paid 8k per month from this.
4. I held private home lessons for primary school children near the house. God so kind, I was making 5k per child each month. We used to meet 3 times a week. I had about 3 children.
5. I built a wireless network to help NYSC in the state speed up their camp registration process. This really helped me a lot. I read a few things online and applied it to help NYSC and it worked. In return, I was taken to 2 camps as NYSC staff still as a corps member. Made 40k each time aside feeding expenses.
6. I taught computer courses to fellow corps members at 10-15k each. Was able to train about 6 corpers during my time.
7. As the key drummer in my CDS (dance and drama), I made some money every time we were invited to perform at events.
Those were the major activities I engaged in during my service year.
I went on to use the money to pursue professional certifications, and today I can proudly say I am a network professional with competence in Cisco, Microsoft, Comptia, Huawei and Mikrotik network technologies, as well as project management according to PMI.
Don't ever be discouraged. There are hidden blessings and countless opportunities in the most unlikely of places.
Wishing you success all through the year. 25th birthday on March 24, 2016. You are all invited.
Cheers. wow cool |

Gerrard59: For an entry level( which means you have little or no working experience) position
Gerrard59 0801234567. 48, ABC Street, ABC ROAD. Gerrard59@gmail.com. (Depending on the position and industry, you can add your LinkedIn account)
INVESTMENT BANKING ANALYST INTERN Your objectives should be succinct and tailored towards the industry and company you intend applying to. Every vacancy requires a different personal profile even if they are in the same industry. Don't send a CV meant for Zenith Bank to Vetiva Capital Management. Avoid prolixity.
EDUCATION Your tertiary institution should come first. Year of graduation or expected graduation for intern-ship students. Grade obtained. Ensure you include your grade and qualifications. If you made/have a strong 2.1(4.0 and above) include ditto, if you made a high First Class(4.7/5.0). It's your first impression, so impress.
SKILLS/ LEADERSHIP Language skills( bilingual). Computer skills. Leadership positions. Awards and Achievements and any skill you know would be priceless to the firm. Although, if you have a whole lot of them you can make a separate section for it. Be honest as much as possible, better to have one skill than lie about many.
WORK EXPERIENCE
You are an entry level; unless you posses an array of work experiences this should come last. Where you have worked and your tasks and results. Responsibilities assigned to you and the final outcome(s).
Say, for a firm in the hospitality industry: Don't write, I was in charge of receiving guests and making them feel comfortable. Rather, I was responsible for the environmental sanitization of the firm premises which resulted in increased customers' referral, thereby increasing profitability by 4%.
References can be on request. Unless stated, don't include religion, state of origin, relationship status. That's not the HR concern. If age is stated in the vacancy, include your date of birth. Don't write curriculum vitae at the top, everyone knows it's CV you're sending.
My humble opinion. tnx 4dis info |

FleetRider: Requirements For Registration/
Mobilization Of Graduates
This is to inform all prospective corps members,
i.e. Nigerians who have graduated from
Universities and Mono/Polytechnics both at
home and abroad that when NYSC On-line
registration portal opens ensure to register on time
for mobilization.
In order to ensure a seamless registration,
prospective corps members are to note the
following for strict compliance:
1. The Website address is any of the following:
i. www.nysc.gov.ng
ii. www.nysc.org.ng
iii. www.portal.nysc.gov.ng
iv.www.forster/nysc.ng
2. Locally trained prospective Corps members
are expected to use correct JAMB and
Matriculation numbers to register
3. Prospective Corps members should ensure
that they have valid and functional e-mail
addresses that they can access and Nigerian
(GSM) telephone numbers with which to
register.
4. Foreign-trained graduates from Ghana and
Benin Republic must obtain letters of
verification and upload same for mobilisation
to be effective.
5. For locally-trained graduates, only those
whose names appear in the Senate/Academic
Board Approved Result lists submitted by
their Institutions will have access to the
register on the NYSC portal.
6. Foreign-trained prospective corps members
should ensure that their Institutions are
accredited. Where in doubt, it is their
responsibility to approach Federal Ministry of
Education for verification. The letter of
verification must be uploaded during
registration.
7. Those who graduated from Institutions
outside Nigeria, (Foreign-trained graduates),
are to visit the NYSC portal, register and
upload the following documents:
i. West African School Certificate(WASC) (with not
less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent,
ii. General Certificate of Education (GCE O’ Level)
(with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its
equivalent,
iii. NECO (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings)

acceptable.
9. It is the responsibility of the prospective corps
members who studied in non-English speaking
countries to get their Certificates and
Transcripts translated into English language
before uploading.
10. Unlike in the past, Foreign-trained graduates
should not visit NYSC Headquarters, Abuja
for verification of their documents. This
exercise will now be done at the Orientation
Camps. They should simply print their call-up
letters on-line and report at the Orientation
camps in their States of deployment, but
should come to the camp with the original
documents uploaded during registration for
verification.
11. Anybody who presents any fake document
will be demobilized and decamped. Also,
anybody not available in camp for the
verification will equally be demobilized.
12. Prospective corps members should ensure
that Passport photographs used meet the
following specifications:
i. Ensure your face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and
jaw) is fully shown without bending
ii. Ensure the picture is centralized and fills the
frame

NYSC › Re: NYSC 2016 Batch A Corp Members House by stephano100(m): 5:07pm On Dec 26, 2015 |
Agoro1: Okay, so you’ve survived tertiary school. Your parents have attended your convocation ceremony. The school’s cleared you for graduation since the witches in your village didn’t give you a missing script or something.
Luckily, some parts of the registration process has been automated while others… not so much. Here are the things you need to do to have a hitch free NYSC.
1. Make sure your school’s Senate/Academic board sent your name to the NYSC office
This is important and short of typing in all caps, there’s no way to emphasise that your school MUST SEND YOUR NAME to the NYSC office. I have friends who are through with school since January yet still haven’t been called up because of this one reason.
2. Get to the NYSC portal and register
Create an account for yourself, if this is your first time. Login with your details if you already have an account but weren’t mobilised with the previous batch. The rest of the process should be familiar to any student.
You’ll need to upload passport photos, some documents (there’s a list in the next step) and a thumbscan. Unless you have a thumb scanning machine at home (if you do, your name should be high on EFCC watchlist), you’ll need to go to a cybercafe to get it done. Yeah they still exist.
3. Uploading documents (for foreign students)
You’ll need to upload a scan of the following documents – first degree certificate, transcript of first degree, West African School Certificate/GCE/NECO or High School Diploma (if applicable), International Passport and letters of verification (for graduates of Institutions in Ghana, Benin Republic and any other Institution whose accreditation is in doubt).
If your documents are in another language apart from English, you’ll have to upload a translated version. Translations can be done at the embassy of the country you studied at. You can find more information here.
Local graduates
Local graduates have it a little easier. By verifying their matric number on the NYSC portal, most of their school credentials are available. They just need to upload their first degree certificate and West African School Certificate/GCE/NECO.
Both sets of graduates will be required to upload their signatures.
4. Verification of documents (for foreign students)
You do not need to go to NYSC Headquarters, Abuja to verify these documents. They’ll be inspected at the Orientation Camps. So take along the originals.
5. About Married People
If you’re married and have no desire to be separated from your boo, upload the following documents – marriage certificate, evidence of change of name, document showing your spouse’s place of residence.
6. Medical students
If you studied Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Medical Laboratory Science you are going to upload your registration certificates issued by the respective councils – Nigerian Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (NMDCN), Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. If you don’t have them yet, go get them.
Once you have successfully uploaded all these documents, all that’s left to do is wait for your Call up letter.
7. Magic fingers
The waiting period is when you usually tell, threaten, beg, or bribe your network of family and friends to assist you in getting posted to a favourable place, like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, or Oyo state. Like they say in Lagos, Don’t dull yourself.
8. Collecting your call up letter
Eventually, Call up letters will be assigned and sent out to candidates. Both Local and foreign graduates can print their Call up letters online and have the number sent to their phone for the sum of three thousand Naira. If you decide to go the cheap route, head over to NYSC Headquarters in Abuja to get it. Payments can be made online on the portal.
This would be the easier option for foreign graduates but if they’d prefer, they can collect their call-up letters in person at Abuja. Take along your International Passport and other relevant documents.
Local graduates who also opt out of the N3,000 fee can collect their call-up numbers and letters at their respective schools.
9. Don’t get swindled
Payment of any kind of fees is to be done online at the NYSC portal or appropriate banks.

Kbs468: KEBBI is not a bad idea though as it is one of the two closest Nort Western states to the North Central zone. The other one is KADUNA
others North Western States includes KANO JIGAWA ZAMFARA KATSINA SOKOTO-closer to KEBBI
The North Central states includes FCT-ABUJA NASARAWA-closer to ABUJA KOGI-closer to ABUJA NIGER-closer to ABUJA KWARA BENUE
North Eastern states are usually picked by southerners only because of redeployment for security reasons particularly the choice of BORNO ADAMAWA YOBE
whereas, redeployment is not easy to come by in GOMBE BAUCHI TARABA
so analyze and made an inform choice because naturally, every Southerner that picks any Northern states usually gets posted irrespective of the arrangement being made particularly if such choices were made along side the dominant hot cake choices of ABUJA LAGOS OGUN ENUGU AKWA IBOM RIVERS KANO KADUNA Bye. |
