Good evening everyone, I have been a silent reader for quite some time due to my schedule, firstly i want to appreciate everyone here for sharing timelines and offering helpful information from time to time. So i actually used an agent for both my admission and study permit application, my agent is based in canada and has helped a couple of my friends get to canada successfully but he can actually an asshole. So he doesn't communicate properly and can be slow with things due to his busy schedule i guess. Long story short, he applied for my study permit on 7th Aug 2022 and i did my biometric on 10th Aug 2022. I just did an upfront medical on 14th Nov 2022 and my agent requested for an e-medical doc i was given at iom for him to upload. So at this point i reached out to him asking him about what is going on with my process and he says there is no update on my portal and nothing can be done than just to wait until he gets an update from the IRCC. I got here and i see people putting some extra effort on their application process. Please i need some advice on what to do about this whole thing, I don't have access to my portal and i am to resume Fanshawe college 3rd Jan 2023. I will really appreciate every advice i can get.. Thanks |

Thomsyne: Once again, its PPRRRRR - Loooooonnnnggggg post alert!!
First off, I’d like to thank God and many members of this platform for helping and keeping things running on here.
My profile in summary: 25y/o single male, parent sponsored, Computer Engineering BSc, graduated with second class upper, going for MSc, Computational Sciences. Graduated in 2020, worked as a Software Engineer ever since then.
Timeline and Events New Portal First-time applicant Applied by myself. Learnt all from Google, Youtube, and Nairaland
July 4: Upfront medicals July 8: Application on New Portal July 8: Biometrics Request July 13: Gave biometrics and received on portal ** Somewhere in between I’d uploaded my medical sheet from IOM via webform. Can’t remember when. August 4 (2AM): Sent mail to Lagos, Nairobi, London and attached my medical sheet. August 4 (Around 1pm): Biometrics and Medicals updated to pass. ** Long wait, ordered notes, CBSA and GCMS, nothing tangible. October 11: Sent mail to MP October 13: MP got back literally saying the same thing on portal. ** Around this period, started firing several versions of mails and webforms. Nov 16: MP reached out to them again – Preassessment done, eligibility not started. Nov 17 (Around midnight): Sent mails to Beijing, London, Lagos, Abuja, Nairobi. Nov 17 (Around 12pm): Eligibility review started on portal Nov 17 (Around 9pm): BVL and PPR
Little story, for POF which is usually a concern, I had like 5.5M in my account, $2k USD in dorm account. 5M was gift deed from my Dad, he had 25M in fixed deposit since July 2021. As at the time I applied, the money was fixed. There were several opinions about this, but I kept it that way even though I was scared sh*tless. The closing balance of that account was 77k in fact.
Around November 9 ish, I sent updated statement showing liquidated funds and my Dad transferred the balance of like 8M to me since I’d enrolled in courses. My savings in Naira and USD had grown, I also got salary raise at work so I packaged all these and sent severally via webforms – both old and new. Oh yeah, I’ve ordered like 3 notes and I still have 4 pending lol.
I’m adding all of these because I’m not sure what did the trick. It’s pretty much a combination of all.

molybdenum0012: Lol...it is unlawful to marry twice. If you must apply for a student visa, do so with a married status. If you travel to the US with a single status and try to remarry your wife, it may backfire. American immigrations abhors irregularity/consistency. I am sure the status of your wife who is an American citizen is married, so how does she explain to the authority she wanna remarry without divorce?
She can file for a spousal visa for you, the only thing is you don't know when it will be approved.
I think all you need now is patience , don't let desperation make you do things that you will later regret. Lol i guess I am being desperate, i will just have to be patient. |

Please i want to know if it’s advisable for my wife who is an American citizen go ahead with filing a petition for me, by the way we got traditionally and lawfully married in dec 2019; or do i consider applying for my Masters and get married to her again in a American court if i eventually get lucky in obtaining a student visa. |

Drenimarcus: She needs to come back again before you file. Rules says within 2 years and you guys last saw 2 years ago. She needs to visit you before filing bro. All the best! . Okay thanks for your immediate response. |

sharpman1: The requirement is to meet at least once within two years prior to filing the petition by the USC fiance(e).
The time together can hold anywhere but it's important to document with pictures and receipts of places visited together. Flight tickets and boarding passes is also good evidence.
Be careful with having a formal introduction though as that may be considered as being married which will disqualify the applicant from getting the K1 visa. Thanks for this thread. I and my fiancee who is an American citizen have been dating since 2015, she visited me in Nigeria in Jan 2017 and we have pictures together which was taken during her visit. She intends to file a petition for me in June. I want to know if we will encounter any problem due to the fact that the pictures we have together are a few months above 2yrs? She would have visited in Dec 2018 but she was in her finals in school and needed to concentrate. |

MrWondah: I'm creating this thread due to the recent mails I've been getting here. In the world of programming today, there are over 60% who are self thought. I'm not here for statistics. I will be sharing a simple PDF guide on best resources for major programming languages, frameworks and markup languages. Only resource for those who don't know where to get one or need motivation. These would include: HTML CSS and its frameworks JavaScript and its libraries PHP Mysql Java SE Rugby C family Mobile app Dev Python And as many that would come on request.
The ones listed here are the ones I'm good at, so I'll share where I've been getting help. If you are interested send me a mail via my signature. I can't post the links here due to nairaland rules. They are completely free I'm interested iheanachocharlie@gmail.com |

Beautyaddy: You want to visit her and at the same time get married when you get to the US. Who's going to pay for the expenses of the wedding? Getting married to her doesn't necessarily mean a wedding, we could just go to the court and get it all done. |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by Stifflah09(m): 8:40pm On Oct 28, 2018 |
Beautyaddy: So if your fiancée is a US citizen and you intend to get married when you get to the US then let your fiancée petition a K-1 visa for you. She's still in college and her account is not in shape for her to petition for a k1 visa. That's why I want to visit. |

Good day Nairalanders I urgently need your advice. I intend to visit the US next year. I have not visited the US before and I just graduated from the university in August this year. I want to know who is best to send an Invite to me, one of my cousins who is a US citizen or my fiancee who is also a US citizen. We actually intend to get married during my visit. A quick reply will be appreciated. |

I just graduated from a Nigerian polytechnic in August 2018 and I wish to go visit my girlfriend who's a US citizen. She will be graduating from college by June 2019 and I wish to be at her graduation. I actually have relatives who are US citizens but I don't know if I would be given a visa; cos I have heard lot of people say if you are not married, don't have a job and no travel history you may not be given a visa. So I want to be advised on the best approach to getting a visa. |
