The pictures showing broken blocks and brown stones being used as part of the composite for the concrete mixture have been carefully removed. Capentry formworks still ongoing.

Quite obvious that these blocks were molded 40 blocks per bag (commercial production).
Stones are being used rather than chippings or granite which has a higher strength and will not fail on the application of load. A builder used stone on my house and I am now witnessing a crack.
Last week a house collapsed at Awka and we need to learn from that incident.

Firstly we didn't use local stones as coarse aggregates take a look at the picture below, secondly we bought these machine vibrated blocks from one of the best block industries around. Others are selling N195 but we bought these blocks at N220 because of its high quality. Having said that, blocks are non load bearing members, it's main purpose is to demarcate various compartments in a building. Take a look at the picture of a framed structure attached. Did you see any blocks? So poor quality blocks are not the reason why buildings cracks or collapse. Please come up with a more reasonable constructive criticism. Thank you.

Materials for the formwork for the first floor slab arrived within the week and carpenters have already started work.

Meanwhile we have leveled the foundation block work for the 2bedroom BQ.

More concrete works.

We started pouring concrete and needle poker vibrator was used to achieve adequate compaction.

And concrete cover was adequately placed so that the reinforcements will be completely submerged in concrete.

The rain has slowed down the pace of work but thank God for yesterday's weather.

Pipes for the electrical wiring was installed within the week.

All will be leveled by tomorrow and carpenters will start the first floor slab form works ASAP

We have started adding 3coaches of blocks on the lintel to level it.

Hopefully we will finish today and start laying blocks on the lintel by Monday.
