2. Paraffin wax-------1/16 kg (N140)

3. Paraffin oil----- 1 litre (N300)

5. Chlorine--------------1 kg (N400)

jendor123: My observvation from the bar soap production, I use my soap to wash cloth today. It foam well & very active but the soap materials did not bind 2geda very well & not very smoth on texture. How do we improve dis. God bless u sir

Heyllo Sir, really nice to know you've practised bar soap lesson one.

Well, if the mixture was well stirred the materials should bind together. On the smoothness, it depends on the kind of mould you used. If the mould is not smooth, the soap can't be smooth.

Finally, don't forget that was just lesson one. I mean, basic.

Heyllo ma, you can get gelatin from chemical shops, though not very easily but it's cheaper getting from them.

You can simply go to where they sell baking materials and request for it, just that it'll cost you more. The smallest one (in plastic) should be around 200-300 naira.

Then for the essential oil, what do you want to use it for? If it's what I'm thinking, I will advise you simply get production perfume, which you can easily get from the chemical shop.

I got to know something. Everybody just want formulas, especially for free. The fact is, it's not all about just giving you formulas but to make sure you are doing something with them. Even if you are paying for them and you are not using them, of what use are they then?

My people, I want us to dialogue. I need to know our challenges, what do we really want?

I know few from our former thread who are really doing good in their business right now and I'm so proud of that.

Once we are done with our hand sanitiser project, I'm going to start up something with us that will be helpful to anyone who really wants to do business.

It's my pleasure Sir. At the moment, I'm not into chalk production. It's being a while I did the chalk stuff, I did it back then as a project with SIFE when I was their resource person.

There are different types of mould: the plastic and the metal one. The plastic one back then was around 30k plus and it could produce like 240 sticks of chalk at a time. The other one, like 200 sticks. Right now, I can't assertively say how much they go for.

All the same, I will have to search through my old contacts for mould sellers.

Lols...well, candle isn't used solely for illumination. There are many uses for it. Then, one has to know his purpose of production and customers. For instance, white garment churches and Catholic make use of candle not just for mere illumination but for spiritual exercise, according to them.

It can also be used for artistic purpose. Bro, quite a lot to mention. Maybe I should upload some pictures and you get to see and fall in love with the beauty of some candles.

However, one shouldn't just rush into it without first knowing his potential customers.

Alright, while our hand sanitiser project is on, let's us engage some of us with something. At least, there should always be something for everyone.

2. What raw materials do I need, and what are the current prices of the raw materials.

3. Where can I get a good quality candle production machine, and what is the price range of the various machine specifications available.

Heyllo Op, I can't answer your first question directly because I'm not into the production of the conventional candle.

The only raw materials you need for the conventional candle are: candle wax, stearic acid and paraffin oil(for lubrication) and the candle thread.

The wax is usually sold in slab. A slab goes for 1,800 to 2,000 naira (please note that, there are two different types of wax, one is purer than the other, the purer one is used for production of candle). The stearic acid is sold in kilos. A kilo of stearic acid is less than 500 naira. The thread is sold in roles, a role is around 200 naira or even less for the small candle. You may walk into any chemical store to verify the prices.

As for the mould or machine, I can't say precisely also, there are a lot of sellers on alibaba or aliexpress you may check them out.

Heyllo Ma'am, the chemicals are usually sold in kgs and in litres. Depending on what you want to produce, as in, the quantity of thing you want to produce.

You may just buy them in halfs. Like, 1/2 kg of soda ash, 1/2 kg caustic soda, 1/2 litre of sulphonic acid etc. In that half, you should get up to 5-7 cups or more. You can get as low 100 naira worth of fragrance(perfume). That still depends on the quantity you want to use.
