Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said he plans to banish the buses by the end of this year because they are "not acceptable and befitting for a megacity".
If there’s one symbol that defines Nigeria’s economic hub of Lagos it’s the yellow “danfo” mini-bus, the closest thing to public transport in the chaotic, sprawling metropolis. But on Monday Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said he plans to banish the buses by the end of this year because they are “not acceptable and befitting for a megacity”.
Ambode’s drive is the latest attempt in a seemingly never-ending campaign to tame the wild streets of Lagos, which is renowned for its traffic gridlock and crumbling infrastructure.
The governor’s goal is to replace the buses — as well as motorcycle taxis and three wheeled motorised rickshaws
— with a modern public transportation system.
“When I wake up in the morning and see all these yellow buses and see okada (motorbike) and all kinds of tricycles and then we claim we are a megacity, that is not true and we must acknowledge that that is a faulty connectivity that we are running,” he said.
“We want to banish yellow buses this year,” he said in a speech, according to a state government news release.
“We must address the issue of connectivity that makes people to move around with ease and that is where we are going.”
Like other fast-growing African cities, Lagos, which is home to some 20 million people, has seen its population boom without the infrastructure to keep up with demand.
The first phase of a rapid transport rail system was originally due to open in 2014 and then in December last year, while there are even plans for a cable car system.
The buses may not be pretty — many have doors missing and spew noxious clouds of exhaust fumes — while their drivers seem only vaguely aware of the highway code, indicators and the brake pedal.

However, I have a knack for ICT and writing. Infact, I'm just so passionate about anything OnlineMedia. I am into my finals now as a budding agronomists, but also a blogger, freelance writer and a green horn OAP.
In life, you just have to carve out your own path when things aren't going the right way. You been a good writer should not thrust you into dropping out. Why not graduate from that discipline and You could still be a skilled writer in a medical niche. If you need a writing cert. You could take various online courses out there.

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold; the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realise how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management Lessons -

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

These are things one should be able to reason out by yourself.

I remember sometime in Jss1 when i somehow noticed that squares of numbers follow a pattern

1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36.. starting from 1, you just keep adding successive odd numbers, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc to keep getting the next square..

i kept thinking of a way i cud make a little formular out of it till i discovered that i just needed to add the present number to the next number and add it to the square

so for example i need the square of 31 and i know the square of 30(900)..i just add 900 to the present number (30) and then add the next number (31) to get 961..

then i optimized it more the difference between the numbers is 1, and then i knew that last one had to come from that..

finally i tried it with a difference of 2

32 * 32 = ((30 * 30) + 30 + 31) + 31 + 32 = 1024 = 90 + (4 * 30) + 4

i eventualy settled for the square of the number you know plus two times the number you know times the difference from the next number then add the square of the difference


twas later when i started doing factorzation that i realised what i did wasnt magic but actually exlainable

32 * 32 = (30 + 2)(30 + 2) = 900 + 60 + 60 + 4

you must be very good at maths then. Good one tho.
