That you don't have PayPal account isn't enough reason to turndown the offer. There are many guys both on Facebook and Nairaland that buy PayPal funds, simply get a buyer and send the buyers PayPal address to your client to pay. But beware of fraudsters, too.
that's another problem. Trusted people are hard to get.

Nairaland / General / All You Need To Know About Boxing Day by Studentcosmos(m): 6:49am On Dec 26, 2017
WHAT IS BOXING DAY?

Boxing Day is a bank holiday that generally takes place every 26th of December. It is observed by Commonwealth Nations, United Kingdom, Barbados, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Bermuda, New Zealand, Kenya, South Africa, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Nigeria and other former British colonies.

ORIGIN AND WHY THE NAME ‘BOXING DAY’
The traditional celebration of Boxing Day included giving money and other gifts to charitable institutions, needy individuals, and people in service jobs. The holiday may date from the Middle Ages (A.D. 400’s–1500’s), but the exact origin is unknown.

There has been various theories about the Origin of the name "Boxing Day":

1. A day servants, Post-men and errand-boys receive a ‘Christmas Box’ (In Britain, a Christmas box is a name for a Christmas present) from their masters. They would also go home on Boxing Day to give ‘Christmas Boxes’ to their families.
2. An Alms Box placed in areas of worship to collect donations to the poor.
3. Custom in the late Roman/early Christian era, wherein metal boxes placed outside churches were used to collect special offerings tied to the Feast of Saint Stephen, which in the Western Church falls on the same day as Boxing Day.
4. And there is also one popular reason (what I heard people say)
You will be too pre-occupied on Christmas day to unwrap your Christmas gift, so you have to wait till the next day (Boxing Day) to open your Christmas box.

FACTS ABOUT BOXING DAY

1. December 26 is also St. Stephen’s day, a religious holiday.
2. In UK, If Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, the following Monday is given as a substitute bank holiday. On the occasion when Christmas Day is on a Saturday and 26 December on a Sunday, the following Monday, 27 December, is the substitute bank holiday for Boxing Day and Tuesday, 28 December, the substitute bank holiday for Christmas Day.
3. In South Africa, Boxing Day was renamed Day of Goodwill in 1994.
4. In Ireland, December 26 is known as both St. Stephen’s Day and the Day of the Wren or Wren’s Day.
5. In the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand,[25] Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday, much like Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) in the United States.
6. In the United Kingdom, it is traditional for the Premier League (England), Scottish Premiership (Scotland) and NIFL Premiership (Northern Ireland), as well as the lower divisions and rugby leagues, to hold a full programme of football and rugby union matches on Boxing Day.

Education / 5 Life Lessons To Learn From The Chinese Bamboo - Motivational by Studentcosmos(m): 3:43am On Nov 20, 2017
The Chinese bamboo is one awesome plant we all can learn from. When you plant a seed, water it, add fertilizer, nurture it and provide it with optimum soil moisture, temperature and humidity; no visible sign of emergence would be seen even after a year. Nothing is seen despite all the efforts!
Well, maybe the second year should be fruitful but unfortunately, nothing happens.

No sign of life for the third year.

No sign of life for the fourth year also!

Despite all the efforts put into continuous watering, fertilizing and nurturing for good 4 years, it all seems a waste — waste of time, effort and resources. You did everything right. Everything provided for the soil is at optimum level but yet, the seed never emerged.

Interestingly, on the fifth year, with nonstop nurturing, the seed sprouts and grows. Amazingly, it grows 90 feet in 6 weeks! That’s quite unbelievable. The Chinese bamboo looks dormant for the initial four years of planting but little is known that it is preparing itself for what lies ahead. The initial four years was to develop very sturdy underground root system which will help it support the height of the bamboo tree in the fifth year. Life is much similar to the growth manner of the Chinese bamboo tree. StudentCosmos gives us 5 life lessons to learn from the Chinese bamboo:

Sow a seed (Sacrifice)
Just like plants, you have to sow before making any harvest. To attain that level of success, you must be ready to sacrifice some certain things. The sacrifice could come in form of time, money, habits, self-gratification or even ego. As students, how much time, energy and dedication do you put into your studies to get very good grades? A mate who graduated with good grades had put in a lot studying. The overnight reading, regular class attendance, daily study at the library are the seeds sown to achieving success. How much money are you ready to put into pursuing a course that will benefit you in the nearest future? Can you set your ego aside in order to learn something new from your junior staff or colleague? It might look difficult but it’s worth it in the long run. How will the Chinese bamboo farmer harvest bamboo without sowing the seed? Sow a seed now and reap your reward later.

Little Things Count
Carefully examine the farmer in the story. He kept doing some things to the planted seed no matter how little they might be. Before a seed can germinate up to harvest, there are some activities that must be carried out. Activities like mulching, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, watering and the rest. These actions look tiny and cumbersome but they could have direct or indirect effects on the growth and yield of the crop. To attain success in life, there are certain actions you must take. The little extras that can push you ahead of your peers. Punctuality to office might look ordinary and negligible to others, but might be a perquisite for promotion. The extra research on a subject can give you exclusive knowledge on that subject. The smiles, act of kindness, respect, resourcefulness, after class study, extra trainings and practice might look little but they do count.

Patiently Work Hard
Two powerful words are carefully joined here: “Patience” and “Hard Work”. These words go hand-in-hand. If the farmer had not been patient enough, he could have abandoned the project long time ago. Same way a lot of people quit a project when it doesn’t seem to yield reward. Not only was he patient but worked hard towards the realization of the project. The Chinese bamboo farmer never stayed home idle waiting patiently. He consistently worked on the project for 5 good years. How much time or effort have you put into a project before calling it quit? Ask Thomas Edison how much time and effort he did put into the invention of the electric light bulb then you would know you haven’t done anything. Don’t call it quit yet, just patiently work hard.

Have Strong Belief
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent – Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you don’t believe it, you can’t achieve it. Just believe you can do it and you will do it. It was belief that made the farmer continue working on the seed despite no sign of life. He strongly believed the Chinese bamboo tree will in due course grow irrespective of the years it took. It takes belief in yourself to keep going. With belief, you’ll sure know that your hard work would be rewarded — sometimes now, often times later, always eventually.

Build Strong Foundations
Very strong foundations really matter in life. Now imagine that Chinese bamboo tree germinating quickly few days after planting and developing to 90 feet in six weeks with the root system of a maize? Will it be able to stand? No! The Chinese bamboo spent four years developing a very strong root system that will be enough to carry the stature of the tree. A clear indication that there is no shortcut to success. No wonder we spend years in school before graduating. All these are to prepare us for the future ahead. We need to master some skills, overcome challenges and build strong characters in order to handle success. Get-rich-quick thinkers run into problems when hit with sudden success or wealth. Build a strong foundation because your height of success is unfathomable.

Education / FG Signs Mou On Electrification Of Varsities, Teaching Hospitals by Studentcosmos(m): 5:28am On Jun 23, 2017
The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for electrification of eight Federal Universities, one Teaching Hospital and the host communities.

The project, which targets over 300,000 students and others within their immediate environment, is the first phase of government’s plans to power 37 federal universities and seven teaching hospitals in the country.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA), which signed the MoU on behalf of the Federal Government with the universities, said the project aims to provide uninterrupted power supply through off-grid captive power plants in a bid to resolve power to the tertiary institutions.
Its Head of Special Projects, Mrs. Anita Otubu, said the first phase, which would be carried out in nine institutions would be completed in 2018 and would benefit over 300,000 students and staff.

The federal universities and teaching hospital that signed the MOU with the REA are the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Bayero University, Kano; Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto; Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi; Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka; University of Lagos, Akoka; Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, Delta; Obafemi Awolowo University and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Osun.

Meanwhile, former Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Peter Okebukola yesterday tasked the Federal Government to increase funding for the nation’s universities.
He noted that in an interconnected world, solving Africa’s climate change, food, national, health and security challenges would amount to failure if not addressed within a global framework.

Okebukola spoke at Mountain Top University’s third lecture titled: “More Investment, More Harvest: Agenda for Enhancing Social Responsibility of Nigerian Universities,” held in Lagos.

“Proprietors and managers of Nigerian universities will need to at least quadruple the financial investment in the institutions to give hope that there will be a doubling of the scores on social relevance,” he said.

Education / Bring Back The Days Of Eleganza And Bic; Pen Sold These Days Are Fake. by Studentcosmos(m): 7:27am On Jun 13, 2017
I thought I was the only one affected not until I met a friend who brought out like ten new pens from his bag. I was like "O boy, you dey sell am ni?" He replied "No o, na so so fake fake biro. Biro wey I dey buy now no dey last me for one day."

The pen I buy these days always malfunctions hours after I bought them. I have tried buying from different places; tried different colours; tried different brands, but they are just the same - all FAKE. I missed the days of Eleganza and Bic. So many pen brands have flooded our market.

Do you experience this too?
What brand will you recommend for me to buy?
Which pen brand is the worst?
