I'm a Christian and I come from a very religious family, but I dont think being a Christian, or a born again Christian is the 'only' way to make it into heaven. It's ok to believe in whatever religion you are, but dont be judgemental, being judgemental is never a good thing - wether in Religion, business or whatever the case may be. There's only one God! and he listens to his people, wether you get to him through a Quran or a Bible.

Is it not the so called born again of new generation churches that commit all sorts of fraud in offices where they work? Are they not the one who forge certificates and age to get work? Are they not the ones who commit all sorts of exam malpractices. Worst still when they finish with their crooked act they will come and testify in your churches and give offerings that will make church members sream Halleluyah to the high heaven. Those people are behaving like that because pastors have failed to give them the bitter truth of the word of God. You people like to hear the watered down version of God's word because it pleases you and gives little or no condemnation to your crooked lives. But we all know that God cannot accept the smallest of sin in heaven.
May God save your soul because if you reject the bitter truth, you are already headed on the highway to hell. Whatever you are saying here does not have any effect on me because the truth must be said weather it pleases you or not. They sell their sermon tapes, they sell their books and people buy and read. How then do you think it is only when we attend their churches that we will be sure of their line of preaching? I used to listen to pastors chris Oyakhilome, David Oyedepo and some others but when I discovered that they revolve around the same earthly benefits under different sermon topics i stopped. Can we hear sermons that prepare souls for heaven from these pastors please. Enough of this money money preaching.

They centre much on messages that the world want to hear and need i say that the high level of greed and corruption that has enveloped our country since these churches came out cannot be compared to what it used to be in the good old days when these churches were not there? This is so because they have ignored the words of our Lord Jesus where he said - seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Today they make people to seek prosperity first. They keep telling them the benefits of giving their money to the church without reminding them that no matter the amount of money you give to the work of God , if you dont give your soul to him and live a holy life you are heading to hell. They are so much after the people's money that they cant preach the hard core bible truth so as not to lose them as members which automatically amounts to a reduction in their income. We are not suprised though , because Jesus forewarned us in the scriptures that in the last days many false prophets shall arise and shall deceive many in his name. Today the words of Jesus is being fulfiled as we see in most of these new generation churches. This doesn't give a pass mark to all the old generation churches as some of them have derailed too due to the influence of the new generation churches.

edicolove: First and foremost it is very important to understand that in translating the bible from Hebrew/Greek were it was originally written to English, a lot of meaning of verses and passages were seemingly lost because of the great limitations and clumsiness of the English language. That is why many pastors today refer to the original text sometimes when they preach. For example greek has 3 words for love which are eros, philio and Agape and they mean love for wife/lover, love for friends/pals and God's love respectively. But English just calls them love leaving you to find out on your won what the kind of love is about. This is vital to understanding thhe @op's post. If you go back and read those scriptures that someone quoted above in the original Hebrew text, you will be shocked. It actually talks abouut God allowing those sickness and diseases come on those people, not God putting it himself. A typical example was when the Israelis were about to leave Egypt. God asked them to sacrifice an animal and spread the blood on their doorpost and said the angel of death will pass that night and any house not having the blood will loose their first born. The angel of death was a demonic being. A fallen angel that always want's to kill but God always restrains him. But that day, he wasn't restrained. God allowed him operate as judgement to Egypt. If God didn't restrain the devil, he will destroy everyone in one day. But he is restrained from acting. But at certain times, when men have become really evil, God 'steps aside' and the devil unleashes terror on men.

God does not do evil. God is Love. Evil came from satan. From the day satan rebelled, evil came into the universe. Sin is evil not good. It is not in the character of God to do any act of evil. Anything God does is a good and a blessing. That is why if you study jewish customs till today, you will discover that they believe that poverty and sickness are from the devil and every one who follows God should never have them. That is what Moses taught them. That is why they were not sick once throughout their forty years sojourn in the wilderness. The disciples of Jesus asked him who committed sin that caused a man to be born blind in John 9:1. Acts 10:38 says God annointed Jesus and he went about doing 'good' and 'healing' all that were oppressed of the devil. Anyone that is sick is being oppressed of the devil because the devil is the originator of sickness.

God cannot use the devil's tool to train his children. No father does that. The principle is very simple. If you walk in disobedience to God, you go out of his his protective covering and then the devil can hurt you. ¶p
As long as you are under God's protective covering, the devil can't touch you.

Pastor Kun: Questions Tithing Advocates Fail To Answer!

Our modern day tithe teachers do not have intellectual honesty.
Most of the pro-tithers cling onto Matthew 23:23 & Luke 11:42 and say that even Jesus said so, therefore the NT Christians need to tithe.  If they take Matthew 23:23/Luke 11:42 as a command for New Testament Christians to tithe here are the questions they need to answer:
1. According to Mishna and Flavious Josephus the 1st century Jews practiced
multiple tithes (almost 3). How did the early Christians practice all 3 tithes?
2. Did the early Christians who did not own farms and cattle give 23% of their earned income to their Churches?
3. Levitical tithes were yearly and it went to Levites according to their
locations. Who are the Levites today and who were the Levites in 1st century
Christianity?
4. How did the “NT Levites” take the 10% of the 10% to the “NT Priests”?
5. If the NT Pastor is the priest don’t we have to tithe to the ushers, choir,
greeters and other Church staff members and let them tithe from their tithes to
the (senior) Pastor?
6. Why does the Senior Pastor collect all tithes today and give salaries to the
staff members and leave many Church workers unpaid? The OT High Priests did not
do that. The OT Aaronic Priests received only 1% of the total tithe.
7. In the OT the High Priests themselves did not tithe but why do our modern day prosperity
preachers tithe to their cohorts?

8. Regarding the festival tithe, do Christians need to go to Jerusalem to observe it as the Jews did? What is our Jerusalem now? Did the NT Christians practice pilgrimage to Jerusalem?. The festival tithe must be taken to Jerusalem. If that was prescribed to NT Christians we should make pilgrimage to Jerusalem like the Muslims visit Mecca?!?!?!

9. The 3rd tithe for poor (Charity Tithe): Why don’t tithe asking Pastors give their congregation the liberty to take care of the poor? Why would it go to the benevolent funds controlled by the Church board? Poor people need to go through hoops to get some help. That really complicates the process?
10. Even if we assume that tithing was commanded to NT Christians the pro-tithers fail to consider one important thing:

* The plurality of the NT Church leadership.

a. In the first century Christianity no Church was run by a single Pastor. The Churches were founded by Apostles and they in turn appointed elders  a.k.a Pastors (in plural – more than one). Why can’t the tithe seeking Pastors follow that model today?

b. Also the early Church had all 5 five fold ministries in the Church.

Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Evangelists and Pastors. Well, we all cannot agree if the offices of Apostles and Prophets exist today but we all can agree at least the offices of Pastors, Evangelists and Teaches exist in our contemporary Christianity. So the point is, even if the early Church received tithes it was divided amongst all 5 fold ministers and the money DID NOT GO TO A SINGLE PASTOR unlike what we see today. The tithing advocates today need to answer this question as well. They are unwilling to accommodate other types of ministries but want to dominate and control the finances which is totally unfair.

c. Acts 13:1

Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

In Acts 13:1 we see in the early Church of Antioch they had 5 ministers who were prophets and teachers.   Is it logical to assume all these 5 ministers received “double portion” of the “tithes” that that Church was receiving if it ever received money as tithe.   When Paul and Barnabas were commissioned as Apostles a few verses later did they start receiving half of the money they got when they had that dual calling of functioning as prophets and teachers.  In Acts chapter 13 we see their dual function of prophets and teachers was changed by the Holy Spirit to only one office in the five-fold ministry.

d. Many Senior Pastors have their associate Pastors. Most of them are not paid well and some of them are asked to “live by faith”. These tithe hungry Pastors not only forget the poor but also neglect their own staff members. This example was certainly not followed by the first century Christian church.

Therefore the pro-tithers still would not meet the NT model of tithing even if it was practiced by the early Christian church.
