Science/TechnologyRe: Nigerian Uses Magnets To Prove Homosexuality Is Wrong by styca(m): 2:16pm On Sep 17, 2013
DarqChild: I read the comments here by my fellow supposedly Nigerians and all I decipher from the whole abuse rained on this young man is just envy and jealousy that he was bold enough to do what no one ever could. I will continue saying it, we Nigerians are so engrossed in our idiocy that we hardly have time to actually think anymore rather we go about chasing money leaving the dream.
This is a young man with a dream here, and he is willing to go the extra length to make it come TRUE. For heavens sake his words are TRUE. Its unnatural for a male to feel sexually attracted to another male. Its against nature and that is why LIKE POLES REPEL AND UNLIKE POLES ATTRACT IN A Magnet. Huh.... Just common sense. If you have done chemistry you'll understand what his theory on that subject is all about too like wise mathematics. I thinks its just a bunch of homos here hiding under the cloak of anonymosity the internet provides here in Nairaland to spew there rubbish and promote homosexuality. To get our minds off the actual message and derail it to only God knows where. Fools you have failed. If police catch Una na 20 years imprisonment. gays!!!!
mmmmh can't u see that you are being sentimental here. He didn't prove anything new but was trying to draw an analogy between the polarity of a magnet with human sexual orientation. I understandd what he is trying to do. In a strickly scientific sense, that guy fu*ked up big time.

I want to believe he is seeking for cheap popularity.

Christianity EtcRe: What Are Your Views On Supernatural Occurrences? by styca(m): 8:59am On May 12, 2013
@ coputa...am smiling to myself reading your post.... Now i know you are pro-africa. You i had to look up what supernatural means and i see is anything that cannot be explained using known scientific knowledge. Those examples you gave were familiar...yet they are in the realm of SUPERSTITION..i have a baby of five months here and i tried that,i timed how long it will take for him to stop hiccuping with the thread on his head(3 mins), then later after about 5hrs he started again, instead of using the thread i gave him water and it took (2mins) to subside,..well i concluded that putting thread on his head is not supernatural, the next time he hiccups am not going to give him anything to see how long it takes for it to stop. Having said that..that we don't know the laws governing an event doesn't make the event supernatural..it is a natural law waiting to be discovered.

coputa: @styca..,i am happy that you are now getting a clearer picture of what i was explaining....supernatural occurencies is not science that will be documented...there are no two person that are the same on earth, each individual has his own encounter, which is different fron the other...it comes through things that are found in your environment,....must it be documented before it can be factual for you to believe....what of the loads of lies that the whites documented for us to read, does it make sense to you....e.g the Darwin theory of evolution that makes us believe that man (exluding whites) evolves from Ape,.is this the kind of fairy tales that you want to believe....
@ coputa...remember i said i tried to understand you...well i think i have. You seems to be having a thing for the whites...thats my opinion though.
Back to the topic..you know why your Darwin example does not hold, he(darwin) saw something, became curious, examined what he saw, came to a conclusion and documented it. Others read what he wrote, observed the same thing as him and also came to the same conclusion. You see, if you truly understand what the word supernatural means, then, you might be forced to take another stance. The question we should try to answer first is: when do we say that something is supernatural?...granted that we don't have a complete knowledge of how our world works..it could also be possible that those things we term supernatural are merely natural occurrences of which we have no knowledge of the underlying principles. So bro. I will just say before you say something is supernatural, make sure you have exhausted every avenue of enquiry open to you..

@ coputa.. I try as much as i could to understand you...i like what you typed about whites coming here to enjoy our traditional festivals... This talks always leads me to wonder at the role the group belief of a people plays... These occurrances might be true for those who belief in such but that doesn't make it a universal truth. If it is so,, then let those who talk of such things perform such feats in such a way that they will be objectively observed. In that way it will be proved that it is true and the procedures documented for posterity. I hope you get where am going... Am not disputing that these things don't happen but i cannot accept them to be facts, until those aforementioned conditions are met.

coputa: The fire fly and clothes examples i gave are supernatural occurrences among others...every individual has different ways they are affected by supernatural occurrences in their lives..its now left for you to observe these things repeatedly and the attendant effects...some are warning signs while others are for approval...these are forces that man cannot comprehend,..science has no bearing close to it..you just told the whole world that you have a dormant brain....please think deeply and be free from bondage..

brother...see can't you differentiate between supernatural and superstition... A fire fly perches on you and there is a visitor waiting for you?? Heck..thats your belief man and doesn't make it anymore supernatural than me striking my left foot on a stone and thinking that bad thing is about to happenhuh

the public relation officer, mr fabian benjamin (call him to confirm on 080 6777 6484) today after a telephone conversation with punch newspaper and news agency of Nigeria in Abuja. he narrated that vast majority of the students scored below 200. in view of this he has concluded plans to re-register the first 50 candidates the opportunity to write the oncoming COMPUTER BASED TEST starting on the 18th of May to 1st June. students are therefore advised to call the P. R. O or the site portal engineer for immediate transfer of their data to computer based test. remember your reg no is required for immediate registration.

Christianity EtcRe: Big-Bang Theory Doesn't Make Enough Sense by styca(m): 9:53pm On May 02, 2013
alfaman2: You cannot apply Newton's law of inertia on this for the simple reason that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. For the law to apply, the rate of expansion should have to main constant but evidently, it isn't.

So it is either the law doesn't apply or another yet unknown force is accelerating the expansion of the universe.
alright i now understand why Newton's law of inertia does not apply here. Am still puzzled, why would the universe be expanding? Since the DE was proposed as an ''anti-force'' to gravity, it seems to be getting stronger than gravity hence, the expansion.
Christianity EtcRe: Big-Bang Theory Doesn't Make Enough Sense by styca(m): 1:20pm On May 02, 2013
Area_boy: hmmmm.. a lot of ideas and misunderstanding flying around. the truth is, it is always important to understand the fundamentals of any theory before branding it "made up"

Op,
In simple words the big b@ng theory explains everything from approximately 13.7 billion years ago until now. Everything else is around the realm of speculation. But isn't that how science works? people come out with ideas and others prepare experiments to test out those ideas or observations to verify/discredit them. The crucial difference with scientific "guessing" and spiritual guessing is that the scientists acknowledge that it is merely a possibility and that a proper application of the scientific method is required to achieve certainty. Religion on the other hand tells us with certainty that their guess work is fact.

So they got the time from the big b@ng off by 80 million years. is that really a big mistake? Think about it; Add 80 million to 1 billion and you will get 1.08 billion. not much off here if you ask me.

it isn't fair to conclude that something is blatant nonsense when you really don't know the maths involved. If I ask you to derive the standard model equation and explain it, we'll be here until next year.

Dark energy on the other hand is very simple if you understand anything about gravity. Our sun orbits the milkyway at a speed of roughly 200km/s. The massive gravitational pull in the center of our galaxy (caused by the black hole there) pulls in everything towards it since gravity sucks. There must be an opposing force to prevent everything from crashing into that black hole and that thing is dark energy. No one knows what it is because it cannot be seen but it can certainly be measured and they are sure it is there. with that explanation you can clearly make sense of dark matter as well.

Don't let the name fool you, it is only a fancy name when they don't know what it full is. Bring two magnets together and watch them repel or attract themselves, can we see this force? No but we certainly can measure it.

To be honest, your religious side is acting up here. Cos you really do not know the ins and outs but you discredit. how different are you now from the church goers that tell you evolution is crap?
mmmh Area Boy..in other words, we can draw an analogy albeit how crude between gravity/dark energy and centripetal/centrifugal force. Since we know that gravity is all pervading and in your words ''sucks in', in other to explain the observed receding/expanding universe, one should safely posit that there 'should' be an opposite but 'equal' force which tries to cancel out the effect of gravity over the universe, just like in a spinning wheel, where the centripetal and centrifugal forces counters each other to keep the wheel on its axle. So the dark energy could then be said to be an INTRINSIC property of the universe. Even though we might not know its nature and the particle through which it is propagated like graviton for gravity.

The point where i've always being stuck is with the idea that 'if' gravity and DE are complementary, why is the universe still expanding? Since there will be zero net force acting on the universe. Or does newtons law of inertia comes into play here?.
