WASHINGTON, D.C.(AP)— Following the results of Tuesday night’s election, President Obama has signed Executive Order 13805, which orders a full recount of all votes cast in the election and calls for a special election to be held on December 19 th. Obama signed the order in response to the concerns of thousands of voters across the country who said that they were prevented from casting a ballot on election day, too many absentee ballots have not been found or counted, equipment failures, as well as concerns that some members of the electoral college may have acted unethically.
“People all over the country have been flooding my office with calls, telling my staff of horror stories about being harassed and intimidated by poll workers,” Obama told reporters. “Many have even said that they were flat out denied entry into the voting booths to cast their ballots if they were wearing a Hillary Clinton shirt or other signs showing support for her as President. This was especially bad in areas of Florida and North Carolina where there are high numbers of Latino and African American voters. We must investigate these claims. The margin of victory is too close to call, and the outcome of this election is too important. There is just too many legal challenges in too many states to just call this a victory for Trump.”
Under the President’s order, the votes cast in all precincts nationwide will be recounted, and all poll workers who took part in Tuesday’s election will be subjected to strict background checks. This process is expected to take 30 days. In precincts where the Department of Justice has cause to believe that voter suppression has occurred, new elections will be held on Dec. 19 th,with those results being used to help determine who will represent the individual states in the electoral college.
Not surprisingly, Donald Trump is not happy with the president’s decision.
“Crooked Hillary lost this election fair and square. They tried to rig this election against me, but the American people didn’t allow that to happen. President Obama doesn’t care about what the American people want. I said the system was rigged all along, and this proves I was right.”
The president also said that the DOJ will be taking a close look at the members of the electoral college.
“We have received information from a very reliable source that suggests there may have been some collusion between the members of the electoral college and poll workers in certain swing states. We still need to investigate these claims, but if they are true, we will take all the appropriate actions necessary.”
Paul Horner, a professor of political science at UCLA, believes that the issues with the electoral college run much deeper that this election.
“Most people feel that it is their right as citizens to pick the president of the United States, but there is nothing in the constitution that says that. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by more than 200,000 votes, but because of the electoral college, she still lost. That decision is reserved solely for the 538 electors who meet in their respective states on December 19 th. What the people are actually voting for are their states’ electors, not for the President. Though the system is odd and unfair, it has persisted because many insist that it works just fine as it is, with the winner of the popular and electoral vote usually matching. That does not mean, however, that it will continue to work just fine in the future. The way the system is set up could cause it to malfunction in some potentially terrifying ways, this recent election being one of them.”
Political Analyst Matt Daemon told ABC News that he agrees with the President’s Executive Order and said that he would like to see the electoral college done away with altogether.
“[The electoral college] is a f—king joke; we should be using the popular vote instead. It may have made sense in 1788, but so did the three fifths compromise. Everyone should have an equal vote, and that’s just not the case with the electoral college. You know what the electoral college gave us? It gave us George W. Bush. It gave us a war in Iraq, and the worst recession since the great depression. It’s time to bring our system into the 21stcentury. I hope Obama fixes this, because president Trump is going to be a nightmare.”
Obama finished up the press conference explaining his plans for moving forward.
“We’re going to investigate the FBI into their role in all of this,” Obama said. “Why did FBI director James Comey on Sunday say thatthe agency is not recommending charges against Clinton after reviewing all of her emails; declaring Hillary Clinton a free women conveniently just one day before the election? Why wasn’t this news released earlier? How many votes were lost because of this?” Obama said. “If all of these questions cannot be answered by our deadline set in December, a recount will be ordered.”

Hmm..Great innovations but it is a wrong strategy building ammunition during war. It is a wrong strategy to go to war without enough food and planning. A true hero dies with his own people.I will not count myself worthy to live if I lost 3 million of my own people in a war that I started.. Honestly, the war was not necessary.

We insult each other here instead of learning. We need to talk about Biafra. We need to teach it so that we won't make similar mistake again. I am Yoruba and I couldn't find a true Hero from all our past leaders including Awolowo. They all made silly mistakes that brought us to where we are today.

first, that wasnt a wrong strategy in the sense that it wasnt an intentional war from the Biafrans : the nigerian govt brought it and it was due to their (nigerian) fault in that they signed an accord they didnt understand. Secondly we must have to correct the mistakes otherwise our own descedants wouldnt find it funny...

you see, the issue of garment wearing in relation to deuteronomy 22 vs 5 is not actually trouser hence this doesnt necessarily make it evil but we must understand that it appears wrong for us africans to put that on for one sole reason being that since its not our attire from the onset (for females) it would cause more of confusion than help the church in our society. But the western world which to them it is their attire, modesty, modesty, thirdly, modesty is the key woud. What is modesty in this contest? It is simply the genuine obedience to our heart, n it suld be guided by the purpose; perming of hair is a way of making a hair look good and neat but where a brother goes crazy with such, even a pastor, you begin to ask to what benefit is it to abuse liberty and give people controversy to feed on.. I was born into a christian home. A pastor's home. As expected, I was born into christianity. Normally also as I grew older and began to think for myself, I hear stuffs like "the righteousness of your parents can't save you", "you need to be genuinely saved", "you need to give your life to Christ" etc. I was like fine, and I gave my life to Christ. In fact for like 3 times I responded to altar call. Recently this year too, you know what next na, I was baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

But then, the problem started when I looked around and I began to wonder If I would be a christian at all if I was not born into a christian home. 2 of the best people I know(that are not my family) that I admire very much are strict muslims. I began to wonder what would have been if they had been born into a christian home. If because they were not, they will go to "hell". Because they followed the religion they were born into (strictly too). These two are close to me, and though I pretend not to notice they also think I will go to their "hell". But that's just 2. I began to look at the world in general and I realized that if what I had learned about hell is true, up to 70% of the world population is going to hell. I mean, lets not kid ourselves more than 50% christians that believe in the christian God will go to the christian hell (if its the real one), not to talk of christian sects that believe there is no hell. So many different doctrines, faith, religion, believes; It was all just overwhelming when I really thought about it.

Well, I began to lose my believe. Recently I've been spending time in the religion section of nairaland, and let's just say I've lost it completely. Now I don't hate religion, in fact what I've concluded about it ( I've done serious thinking ) people need something to believe in. If you've been paying attention at all to my write up, you'll notice I hadn't mention there is no God (even if I might think it); I've just lost my believe.
The one Question I ask myself is "Why Should I Believe in God?" Maybe someone can answer that for me. Why exactly? The only things I know about Him is from the Bible (why should I believe that) and from people (why should I believe that too).

I love my family and I would never disrupt the peace by making my believe known (I still go to church, participate in family devotion, read the bible, pray etc). If the nature of my words surprise anybody, I want to add that I am less than 20 years of age too.

I'm not an atheist and I don't want to be. I don't want to be anything, I just want to live my life!

It is a normal feeling, and so with regards to your personal revelation of Jesus. Everyone is pushed by experience : Peter when Chrust was crucified, went back to fishing but when he had the pentecost experience, he never went to that fishing...... Paul who was Saul was a threath to the faith, but when he Experienced Jesus, he became a pillar.... Etc. These were due to deliberate quest by them (Know that Saul had a personal development, outside the damascus encounter.... Phill 3 vs 10).... You have to have an encounter. But the question you might ask is how do i have it?..... Its a thing of devotion and meditating on the policy statement of Jesus and You have received Christ, yes. But you need the HolyGhost.... That will enable you focus on the way of Christ, by that, you are changed (2 corinthians 3 vs 18)

However, the account of Christ’s life, as found in the Bible—which is inspired revelation from God—serves as proof enough of His existence! However, there are other sources that contribute to the proof of His life and death.

A second-century theologian, Justin Martyr, wrote, “Now there is a village in the land of the Jews, 35 stadia from Jerusalem, in which Christ was born, as you can ascertain also from the registries of the taxing under Cyrenius your first procurator in Judea” (First Apology, chapter 34).

Martyr was referring to the records of Jesus’ birth in Judea that were still in existence in his day. But, since he was a theologian who would naturally support accounts of Christ’s existence, his account may seem invalid to the doubter.

What about historians against Christianity? What did their writings say?

One of such anti-Christian mentality was Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian, senator, consul and governor of the province of Asia. Concerning Jesus and His followers, Tacitus wrote, “Nero…punished with every refinement the notoriously depraved Christians (as they were popularly called). Their originator, Christ, had been executed in Tiberius’ reign by the governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate. But in spite of this temporary setback, the deadly superstition had broken out afresh, not only in Judea (where this mischief had started) but even in Rome” (The Annals of Imperial Rome, XV, 44).

Julian the Apostate (called such because he rejected Christianity after being raised in it), a fourth-century emperor, wrote, “Jesus, whom you celebrate, was one of Caesar’s subjects. If you dispute it, I will prove it by and by; but it may be as well done now. For yourselves allow, that he was enrolled with his father and mother in Cyrenius…But Jesus having persuaded a few among you, and those the worst of men, has now been celebrated about 300 years; having done nothing worthy of remembrance; unless anyone thinks it is a mighty matter to heal lame and blind people, and exorcise demoniacs in the villages of Bethsaida and Bethany” (Cyril Contra Julian, VI, 191, 213).

These are just two quotes from pagan Roman scholars who loathed Christianity. Since these men had access to government records, and hated what Christians believed and stood for, they could have easily “disproved” and discredited the existence of Christ if they so wished. But, because they could not do such a thing, their writings only add to the monumental proof of the life of Christ.

What about the Jewish people? If Christ did not exist, how then could the Jews reject Him?

In his book Antiquities of the Jews, Jewish historian Flavius Josephus writes about Jesus, His disciples and John the Baptist. He referred to John as “the good man” (XVIII, 5, 2). Modern-day scholars recognize Josephus’ account of the death of James, “the brother of Jesus who was called Christ” (XX, 9, 1), as genuine.

The Jewish Encyclopedia (1907 edition) explains that Jesus is also mentioned in the Talmud, the Jewish tradition consisting of the Mishnah and the Gemara. These references to Christ are found in the sections Shabbath 104b and 116b; Sanhedrin 43a, 67a and 107b; and Sotah 47a. You may want to read an article entitled “Jesus of Nazareth,” from The Jewish Encyclopedia (1907), the articles “Jesus Christ” and “Talmud and Midrash” from The New Encyclopedia Britannica (1981), or the article “Jesus” in the Encyclopedia Judaica for more background concerning this subject.

These sources offer valuable information regarding the many proofs of the life of Christ. They point to the immutable facts that He: was born of a virgin, was of Jewish nationality, preached the gospel, healed the sick and diseased, and was betrayed and brutally slaughtered.
