U.S. Arms Sale: IPOB’s case against Biden administration assigned to new judge On July 31, IPOB sued the U.S. over the sale of A-29 Super Tucano aircrafts to Nigeria, asking the court to reverse the sale. The Indigenous People of Biafra’s case against the sale of fighter aircraft to Nigeria has been reassigned to another judge, according to a court document seen by Peoples Gazette. The United States District Court for the District of Columbia on November 15, reassigned the case from Judge Amy Berman Jackson to Judge Jia M. Cobb. It is, however, unclear why the case was reassigned to another judge. On July 31, IPOB sued the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin over the sale of the aircraft to Nigeria, asking the court to reverse the sale. The group argued that the military jets could be used against its members in the southeastern region of the country. According to court documents, the plaintiffs “reasonably fear that the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft will be used imminently to kill or maim them physically or to destroy their property.” In their defence, Messrs Blinken and Austin, in a 45-page memorandum on October 18, asked the court to dismiss the suit, saying it lacks the jurisdiction to hear the claims. But IPOB secured the court’s leave for an extended period to file its objection to a motion seeking to dismiss its suit against the Tucano Jets sale to Nigeria. The then judge, Mr Jackson, had ordered “that the Motion to Extend Time is granted, and that Plaintiff’s deadline for filing an Opposition to Defendants’ Motion to Dismiss is hereby extended until December 2, 2021, and that Defendants’ deadline for filing a reply is hereby extended until December 22, 2021.” The Nigerian Air Force had on July 22nd received the first batch of the 12 attack and reconnaissance planes, while the remaining batch arrived in October. https://gazettengr.com/u-s-arms-sale-ipobs-case-against-biden-administration-assigned-to-new-judge/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

I will consider demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s release — Buhari to Igbo leaders President Muhammadu Buhari with Igbo leaders led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi (seated) at the State House, Abuja on Friday. The President, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said that an unconditional release of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently standing trial for treason, runs contrary to the doctrine of separation of powers between the Executive and Judiciary. This is as he said, though such a demand is quite heavy, he will consider it nevertheless. Buhari said this on Friday while receiving a group under the aegis of Highly Respected Igbo Greats, led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi, at State House, Abuja. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement titled ‘President Buhari to Igbo Leaders: your demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is heavy. I will consider it’. Speaking to the delegation led by the 93-year-old statesman, Buhari said “You’ve made an extremely difficult demand on me as leader of this country. The implication of your request is very serious. “In the last six years, since I became President, nobody would say I have confronted or interfered in the work of the Judiciary. God has spared you, and given you a clear head at this age, with a very sharp memory. A lot of people half your age are confused already. But the demand you made is heavy. I will consider it.” Stressing his policy of non-interference with the Judiciary, the President said when Kanu jumped bail, got arrested and was brought back to the country, “I said the best thing was to subject him to the system. Let him make his case in court, instead of giving very negative impressions of the country from the outside. I feel it’s even a favour to give him that opportunity.” The President condoled with Amaechi, who recently buried his wife, praying that her soul would rest in peace. The nonagenarian had described the situation in the Southeast as “painful and pathetic,” lamenting that businesses have collapsed, education is crumbling, and a reign of fear. He pleaded for a political, rather than military solution, requesting that if Kanu was released to him as the only First Republic Minister still alive, “he would no longer say the things he had been saying,” stressing that he could control him, “not because I have anything to do with IPOB, but I am highly respected in Igboland today.” Amaechi said twice he had interfaced with Nnamdi Kanu in the past, and the latter rescinded orders earlier given on civil disobedience. He concluded, “I don’t want to leave this planet without peace returning to my country. I believe in one big, united Nigeria, a force in Africa. Mr President, I want you to be remembered as a person who saw Nigeria burning, and you quenched the fire.” Members of the visiting delegation were; former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, former President of Igbo socio-cultural group, Aka Ikenga, Goddy Uwazurike and Tagbo Amaechi. Biafra: Grant Regional Autonomy, Create Additional State In South-east Region, O Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has urged the Federal Government to allow the South-East region of the country to be autonomous and create an additional state in the geopolitical zone. According to the parent Igbo body, this would go a long way at dousing the tension caused by current Biafra agitations in the region and give room for genuine dialogue. The Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated this in a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Chief Okechukwu Isiguzuro, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH, on Monday. The statement read, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has advised the Federal Government to political solutions for the Biafra agitation in the South-East and to provide platforms for genuine dialogue, initiate the process to interface with neutral Igbo leaders by strictly prohibiting Igbo politicians from the dialogue because they are part of the problems in the South-East. “We are aware of the international pressures on the Federal Government presently. The Federal Government should not miss the opportunity to seek genuine dialogue with neutral Igbo patriots and elder statesmen, who will genuinely communicate the plights of Igbo without the usual manipulative infusions of South-East politicians. “The international pressures on the Federal Government in respect to the extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu. “After the Kenyan Government confirmed that there were no official extradition proceedings of Kanu before he was sent to Nigeria, international pressures on Nigeria have opened up extraordinary circumstances that must be explored by both the Federal Government and non-political Igbo leaders. “The first step expected by the Federal Government is to set in motion a mechanism, for peaceful dialogue with Igbo religious leaders, Igbo traditional rulers and select few elderstatesmen like Pa Mbazulike Amaechi; Elder K.U.K Kalu; and others, as it’s obvious that the Government can’t shy away from peace talks with the Igbos before the next court appearance of Nnamdi Kanu, on January 19, 2022 with the exclusion of Igbo governors; Igbo National Assembly members; Igbo Federal Executive Council members; Igbo APC and PDP members in attendance.” According to the group, although the release of leaders of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and the Yoruba Nation, Sunday Igboho, was important, there was a need to deal with the root causes of agitations in the Southern part of the country, by the Government. “The Federal Government should expedite actions that will lead to additional state creation for the South-East and granting of full autonomy to federating units of all the regions in the country. “These are the two best options as political solutions for addressing the activities of Biafra groups and their arrowheads. “The releases of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho, from incarceration without addressing the causes of the agitations in Southern Nigeria, will worsen the situation at hand. It will escalate the activities of the agitations. Therefore, the only options for the Federal Government now, are to create an additional state for the South-East and regional autonomy for the Southeastern region through the National Assembly,” the group added. https://punchng.com/biafra-grant-regional-autonomy-create-additional-state-in-south-east-region-ohanaeze-tells-fg/

Nigerian Courts Compromised"—Nnamdi Kanu’s US Lawyer Vows To Take Buhari Govt To International Criminal Court Fein was in court on Wednesday to monitor Kanu's trial but he was denied access into the courtroom. Bruce Fein, United States-based counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has threatened to drag Nigeria to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged gross violation of his client’s rights. Fein was in court on Wednesday to monitor Kanu's trial but he was denied access into the courtroom. The IPOB leader was on October 26 re-arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism. Accompanied by heavy security, Kanu was on Wednesday brought to court for the continuation of his trial. I’ll be going to the United States Congress. I urge that sanctions be considered against Nigeria for gross violations of fundamental human rights.” He added, “Today is the fifth time I was told I could not enter the courtroom despite the court’s previous order that Nnamdi can have access to any three persons he wants to. “I had the chance to talk briefly to him on my way to the courtroom. It is clear that I am the target in particular. That’s the reason why this proceeding did not transpire today. “I’m here to tell Nigerians and the international community that I’m taking this to the international tribunals. It is clear that the Nigerian tribunals are compromised." http://saharareporters.com/2021/11/10/nigerian-courts-compromised%E2%80%94nnamdi-kanu%E2%80%99s-us-lawyer-vows-take-buhari-govt-international

India’s Gandhi Used Sit-at-home Protest Against British Oppression – Ejimakor, Nnamdi Kanu's Laywer Backs IPOB’s Sit-at-home He said the same exercise was used by an Indian revolutionary, Mahatma Ghandi. Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said the one-week sit-at-home recently declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra to commence from November 5 is a non-violent tool the agitators know how to use in demanding the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. He said the same exercise was used by an Indian revolutionary, Mahatma Ghandi. Ejimakor disclosed these in an interview he granted TheNicheNigeria on Monday. He said, "It is customary for judges to permit non-parties, whether lawyers or lay people, to sit in court to observe proceedings. This includes persons who are in court to ‘watch brief’ because of their special interest in the outcome of such proceedings. "At Kanu’s last adjourned hearing before the one on October 21, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife was allowed into court and was introduced as watching brief for Ohanaeze Ndigbo. So was Goddy Uwazuruike, a senior lawyer, who sat next to me and was given leave to briefly address the Court from the bar. It is a routine thing that happens every day in various courts of Nigeria. "I was therefore troubled that on October 21, these eminent persons were not even allowed entry into the court premises, not to talk of the courtroom itself. A motley of Lawyers who volunteered their appearance for Kanu was also served the same treatment. It shouldn’t be this way and I minced no words raising my objections in a brief press briefing I gave on the spot. "It reflects badly on the entire society. It is an exemplar of the institutional oppression that has boomeranged to the point of becoming the cannon fodder for agitations." He further revealed that, "Historically, sit-at-home is a nonviolent form of civil disobedience. It was deployed with remarkable success against the British Raj in India by Mahatma Gandhi. At the time in India, I think Gandhi was asked if it was necessary, and his measured response was that it was a necessary evil against the greater evil of British oppression. "In their reaction, the British colonialists saw it as the greatest sign ever that Indians were never relenting in their quest for freedom. And what did the British do? They abandoned their usual course of levying force and rhetoric against the people and resorted to dialogue. So, the issue is not whether any sit-at-home is necessary but why the authorities are not deploying the facility of a dialogue to containing it." When asked about the allegations made against Kanu and IPOB by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami in a press conference on Friday, Ejimakor said, "The allegations are mere tales by the moonlight, as they do not reflect the charges that are extant before the court." He went further, "They are also defamatory and highly prejudicial to the cases in court. In a sense, it smacks of prosecutorial misconduct of a kind that underscores the other misconducts that have become rampant in the overall handling of Kanu’s case. "The motive is simple: trial by ordeal, or trial by propaganda. If he has other motives, none of them can truly be said to be noble." http://saharareporters.com/2021/10/26/india%E2%80%99s-gandhi-used-sit-home-protest-against-british-oppression-%E2%80%93-ejimakor-nnamdi-kanus

IPOB sit-at-home: Anambra adopts Saturday as school day The Anambra State Government has adopted Saturday as a school day to replace Monday, which has been marked as the sit-at-home day by the Indigenous People of Biafra. This was made known in a recent memo by the government titled, ‘Anambra State Government Approves Saturday as School Day’, adding that Saturday classes commence on October 30, 2021. The statement read, “I am directed by the Executive Secretary to inform you that the Anambra State Govt. has approved Saturdays as school days in place of Mondays. “All HMs are to notify teachers, pupils as well as parents about the new development. Quality Assurance supervision and every other supervision henceforth will hold on Saturdays. “Every game permission for absent from classes on Saturdays must be addressed to the Executive Chairman ASUBBEB through the Executive Secretary following due process. Saturday classes will commence on 30/10/21 ie next week.” The State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, confirmed the statement. IPOB Monday sit-at-home order On July 30, 2021, IPOB in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, declared that every Monday starting from August 9, there would be a sit-at-home form of protest until Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, was released from the custody of the Department of State Security. Eventually, after months of forced compliance, the sit-at-home lockdown was extended. The PUNCH had reported that the group on September 14, called for an end to the imposed order. But the spiral of violence that had been set agog in the region had yet to stop. For about six weeks since the suspension of the sit-at-home, business activities were still grounded every Monday as the dark cloud of fear still hung over the people who would stay indoors to avoid being harassed by IPOB militants. https://punchng.com/ipob-sit-at-home-anambra-adopts-saturday-as-school-day/?amp

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin asked a court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a Nigerian separatist group over the sale of aircraft the plaintiffs say will be used to persecute its supporters. The two officials, who are the defendants in the case, said a federal court in Washington has no jurisdiction to address the claim brought by the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, according to their motion submitted Oct. 18. IPOB filed a complaint against the senior members of President Joe Biden’s cabinet in August, asking a judge to compel them to reverse the recently completed sale of a dozen A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to Nigeria’s air force. The secessionist movement’s complaint argued that the planes will be deployed against their sympathizers. President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which proscribed IPOB as a terrorist organization in 2017, accuses the group of waging a violent campaign against state personnel and assets. IPOB says it’s a peaceful movement working to establish an independent nation in southeastern Nigeria that will defend the Igbo ethnic group against discrimination by the federal government. IPOB’s complaint said Blinken and Austin violated laws intended to protect civilians from harm caused by U.S. weapons in the possession of foreign security forces. “It would be inappropriate for the court to weigh in on a sensitive foreign affairs matter,” the U.S. officials said in their response requesting the dismissal of the case. https://www.bloombergquint.com/onweb/blinken-austin-seek-dismissal-of-nigerian-separatists-lawsuit

Briton Leads Biafra Protest To UK Parliament, Lambasts British Government For Ignoring Buhari’s Treatment Of Igbos He also demanded to know why the British government has kept mute over the alleged oppression, killing, kidnapping and molestation of Igbo people. ABriton has led a protest to the United Kingdom Parliament to question Prime Minister Boris Johnson over his refusal to intervene in the perceived marginalisation of Igbo people in Nigeria. In a video shared on Facebook, the white man who was flanked by people with Biafran flags alleged that the UK Prime minister is only after money and power. He also demanded to know why the British government has kept mute over the alleged oppression, killing, kidnapping and molestation of Igbo people, especially their women by Fulani herdsmen all over Nigeria on a daily basis. The man also urged the British Prime Minister to ensure the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is immediately released as the latter is a British citizen. He also stated that the United Kingdom government ought to have no relationship with the Nigerian government, which he described as “the most corrupt government on earth”. He said: “Millions of Biafrans were slaughtered and starved to death by the British government, the British government starved over three million children between 1967 and 1970 and you sit behind those doors and you know what's going on, exactly the same is going on now to innocent people and you're covering all up because you don't want the average person to know what's going on. “Children are being murdered, mothers are being raped every single day in this Nigeria and you keep quiet. Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, doesn't give a damn. She continues to have meetings with the Fulani regime killing his people. “You don't give a damn about innocent people killed every single day and you have one person who tries to free his people, he's held in detention illegally, he's a British citizen. Why do we not hear about that? I thought we cared about these people. You don't give a damn, you don't give a damn because money is everything, money and power is everything. People talk about third world governments being corrupt, this one is the most corrupt government on earth. “Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, that should be your priority, free your citizen because you are doing nothing, we have had enough of this. All hail Biafra!” http://saharareporters.com/2021/10/22/briton-leads-biafra-protest-uk-parliament-lambasts-british-government-ignoring-buhari%E2%80%99s

Despite 20 Years Of Suffering, North Has No Agitation To Destroy Nigeria – Arewa Forum Shettima said those whose agitations are endangering the lives of Nigerians should be dealt with in line with Buhari’s directive. The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has said those agitating for Nigeria’s disintegration should be decisively dealt with. Yerima Shettima, National President of the AYCF, made the remark in an interview with Daily Post. Shettima said those whose agitations are endangering the lives of Nigerians should be dealt with in line with Buhari’s directive. Faulting the violent approach of IPOB, Shettima pointed out that the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, go about their agitation peacefully without endangering the lives of Nigerians. Shettima said, “All of us are victims of the society today in one way or the other, so if, something goes wrong, you don’t have to behave abnormal. When you look at the situation on ground and think the only way out is to become violent at the expense of people’s lives, then such agitation is not worth it. “Yes, certain things went wrong and we also, in Northern part of the country have suffered the same problem. In fact, we have even suffered more than where the agitation is coming from. “Can the situation today in the North-West or North-East be compared to the realities in the South-West and South-East? The answer is no. For over two decades now, we have been suffering from one trouble to another. From poverty to marginalisation to deprivation and so on, even at that, we never deemed it necessary to take up arms against the state; so, no matter how you look at it, their approaches are wrong. “Don’t we have other groups agitating, like MASSOB? Do you see MASSOB endangering the lives of innocent citizens of the Southeast? The answer is no. Was it not from MASSOB IPOB broke out and is led by that blind man who puts the lives of people in danger? MASSOB goes about their demands which are very genuine by their thinking and feeling. “MASSOB has said it really believes that the Southeast is being marginalised and if Nigeria can address some of this injustice meted on them, they are willing to come back and build the nation. However, the IPOB’s approach is wrong, and two wrongs cannot make a right. “Looking at this situation, you can’t solve problems with problems. We have faith in the country despite the shortcomings. We believe some days we will turn things around instead of balkanising the country in the name of agitation. Most of those agitators are young elements who should come together and build a synergy within themselves that would fight against those oppressing them. “Anybody found disobeying the law of the land should be dealt with decisively; nobody is above the law. If you balkanise the country, where will you go to? You can’t be an American citizen, you will still remain a Nigerian. If you balkanise here, where will you run to? You are a refugee anywhere you run to. “We suffered during the war and we can’t go back there again. If there is a way we can amend what happened in the past to ensure that the war never happened, we would have done that. “Everybody suffered for that, so is that where they want us to return to now that there is arms proliferation? We can’t survive a second war, so Nigerians must learn to stay together. We can agitate without endangering the life of anybody." http://saharareporters.com/2021/10/02/despite-20-years-suffering-north-has-no-agitation-destroy-nigeria-%E2%80%93-arewa-forum

Nnamdi Kanu Committed No Offence As Court Ruled IPOB Not Unlawful – Lawyer The lawyer further reiterated that no other court or higher one has challenged or appealed against the verdict since 2017. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said that the separatist group is not unlawful as ruled by Justice Binta Nyako in 2017. The lawyer further reiterated that no other court or higher one has challenged or appealed against the verdict since 2017. He, therefore, stated that his client will get justice because he has not committed any offence against the law based on the ruling, adding that Kanu is just a political prisoner. In June, the IPOB leader was arrested in Kenya and extradited to Nigeria to face treason charges. He was subsequently arraigned and brought before Binta Nyako, a Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who asked him to be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Kanu is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony instituted against him at the court in response to his agitation for the Republic of Biafra. Ejiofor gave an update on his latest visit to Kanu in detention in a statement made available to SaharaReporters on Thursday. The lawyer said his team has recorded impressive progress in the legal battle against the Nigerian Government, and that it was commended by the secessionist leader. While he enjoined Kanu’s supporters to continue to pray for him, he maintained that the pro-Biafra agitator is strong and unswerving in his commitment. The statement read, “I had an extensive interaction/chat with our indefatigable client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during today's routine visit to the National Headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS). “The strides so far recorded on our part is seemingly impressive though may remain unnoticed to undiscerning minds, and he welcomed every strategy being adopted by our team, as well as the coordinating efforts of all lawyers participating in this case, including those in the diaspora. “He was also briefed on the inability of the Federal Government to file a response to his Fundamental Rights Suit pending before the Umuahia High Court. An action substantially challenging among others, the unlawful but bloody invasion of his home on the 14th day of September, 2017 by the Nigerian Security Agencies. “The Federal Government's reason(s) for avoiding the court, though not far-fetched may not be unconnected to their inability to offer an explanation on their monstrous and bloody invasion of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's residence on the 14th day of September 2017, wherein over 28 innocent civilians were murdered in cold blood by the invading Nigerian Soldiers, and properties worth billions of Naira consequently destroyed in the process. “Thankfully, the world is paying deserving attention to the gross human rights violations as it affects our client, as well as the continued onslaught on unarmed civilians being labelled as members of IPOB. “It is on record that by the ruling of Justice Nyako delivered in 2017, His Lordship while ruling on our application, held that IPOB is not an Unlawful Organisation. This Ruling of the Court was not appealed against, neither was it set aside by any Superior Court. “We are not relenting in our efforts to ensure that justice is done to our Client, he will be freed and in no distant time, because he has committed no offence known to law. He is at best, a Political Prisoner. Nevertheless, Victory will be ours in the end. I see! “Onyendu was very much overwhelmed to receive the report on the overwhelming solidarity and unwavering support so far shown by millions of his supporters. Peaceful conduct of his fans was also relayed to him and he encouraged all and sundry to be United in one peaceful solidarity. “We implore you all to continue to pray for him even as you remain unshaken in your support and prayers, as you have always shown within the confines of the law. “Onyendu is very much strong in spirit and firm in his convictions. You will see him soon. We shall continue to provide regular updates as the event unfolds. Thank you all and remain blessed, Umuchineke.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/24/nnamdi-kanu-committed-no-offence-court-ruled-ipob-not-unlawful-%E2%80%93-lawyer

Pro-Buhari's 'One Nigeria' Rally In New York Bankrolled By Presidency Cabal—Source Says, Alleged Organiser Reacts Bello, who stays in Maryland, United States was identified as one of the organisers. The pro-Nigerian government's 'One Nigeria' rally held in New York, United States was bankrolled by the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency cabal, SaharaReporters learnt on Tuesday. A source had earlier identified one Haruna Bello, a diehard supporter of Buhari who lives in the US, as one of the organisers of the protest allegedly bankrolled by the Nigerian government. The source had said: “One of the organisers of the fake 'One Nigeria' protest who bribed some Nigerians with the money is Haruna Bello," the source had said. Another source who knows him well later noted that “Haruna Bello that organised the pro-Buhari protest in New York is one of my neighbours in Maryland. Never knew he’s connected to the (Presidency) cabals. He was definitely bankrolled by them.” Bello, who stays in Maryland, United States was identified as one of the organisers who on Monday, allegedly gathered some Nigerians together in the US and paid them $50 each per hour to be part of the staged protest. However, when contacted by SaharaReporters to react to the allegations, Bello said: “That’s not true. I’m a patriotic Nigerian and all I want is a united Nigeria, that’s all.” Two Nigerian groups with conflicting ideologies confronted each other in New York over the President's visit. The groups had converged at the Nigerian House on 42nd Street, 2nd Avenue, airing opposing views about the issues of insecurity in Nigeria and its unity. The One Nigeria group members carried placards on which were written, “Stronger together”, “Unity in diversity”, “Genocide in Eastern Nigeria plain propaganda”, “Nigerians want national unity, not secession”, “Nigerian Christians not targets of genocide or ethnic cleansing”. They were, however, opposed by some anti-Buhari protesters who had been organising protests for days calling for a referendum to determine the fate of the country. The protesters who are calling for self-determination alleged that the members of the One Nigeria Group were “fake” Nigerians hired to display Nigerian flags and take pictures. One of the people involved in “the deal” told SaharaReporters that the “One Nigeria” protesters were promised $50 for one hour and $150 for three hours to be at the venue of the protest and to show support for President Buhari's regime despite the glaring failures. Also, a woman confirmed that she was contacted by the organisers of the “One Nigeria” protest but she declined. The source said the organisers requested a copy of the identity card of those who would be joining the protest which caused an uproar and made some people back out of the protest. She said, “I was invited for the pro-Buhari protest. The organisers promised to pay $50 for one hour and we'll be there for three hours. The person did not know we are Oduduwa adherents; we played along as if we didn't understand him. He explained that he was given a contract to do it but yesterday, it became an issue. “Nigerians who initially agreed later had an issue with the organisers because the organisers of the pro-Buhari protest said those who would join the protest must tender their ID cards, a copy would be made and taken to the Nigerian House but those ones refused because an ID card in America is very significant. “With that, the organisers had to quickly go and look for any other Nigerian they saw or those who had no legal papers yet and who are in need of the $150, that they would take them to the venue. It was a staged protest. It was $50 an hour for three hours making it $150.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/21/pro-buharis-one-nigeria-rally-new-york-bankrolled-presidency-cabal%E2%80%94source-says-alleged

State-Sponsored Groups Killed Imo-based Lawyer, Odume – IPOB Reacts To Allegation Of Murder Of Legal Practitioner The lawyer was murdered on Thursday by unknown gunmen in Umudara, Amaifeke in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced the group from the gruesome murder of a legal practitioner, Barrister Darlington Odume. The lawyer was murdered on Thursday by unknown gunmen in Umudara, Amaifeke in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state. It was learnt that the deceased was trailed from his chamber in the Orlu town by his assailants and was shot severally around Amaifeke, where he was buying some edible items. IPOB in a statement signed and made available to SaharaReporters by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said Odume was murdered by the state-sponsored group known as unknown gunmen. Powerful urged the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) not to be deceived by false media propaganda of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Service, stressing that IPOB could not hurt lawyers and journalists, assuming they were to be violent. The statement read, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, distance ourselves from the gruesome murder of a legal paractioner Barr. Darlington Chume Odume popular known as Omekagu who was murdered in Amaifeke Orlu Imo State by the state sponsored group known as unknown gunmen. “Contrary to allegations by those bent on demonising IPOB, IPOB has no hand in the cruel and unconscionable killing of Barrister Darlington Chume Odume. Those perpetrating these murderous activities in Imo State and other parts of Biafra land are doing so just to implicate IPOB and the Eastern Security Network, ESN. “We have several times explained that we have no hands in these gruesome killings in Biafra land but some do not want to believe us. IPOB is a non-violent and peaceful movement with presence in over 100 countries. We are only after the peaceful restoration of Biafra. Killings are not part of our mandate. Those committing these heinous crimes only do so to possibly implicate us and destroy our global image but we are innocent. “The Nigeria Bar association, NBA should not be deceived by the Nigerian police and DSS with their false media propaganda. It makes no sense for IPOB to go after lawyers or journalists for instance, assuming we are to be violent. These two professionals are rather the best of our friends as they are the ones at our rescue in our quest for Justice. We will never contemplate hurting anyone belonging to either of these noble professions or any profession for that matter. “Lawyers have been helping this struggle and facilitating the release of our people in different parts of Nigeria. They put their lives at risk for our sake, and there is no way we can sensibly reciprocate this rare gesture by going after them. It's an irony and most illogical. Those linking us with this barbarity should please look for a more intelligent script. IPOB cannot come down too low by killing our lawyers, journalists and Human Rights groups and persons.” http://saharareporters.com/2021/09/18/state-sponsored-groups-killed-imo-based-lawyer-odume-%E2%80%93-ipob-reacts-allegation-murder

Buhari has handed over Nigeria to terrorists, hates IPOB, Oduduwa agitators – Adeyanju President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of technically handing over Nigeria to terrorists. Socio-political activist, Deji Adeyanju made the remark while claiming that Buhari hates Oduduwa and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, agitators. Reacting to a reported terrorist attack on a military base in Zamfara State, Adeyanju said the president was only interested in fighting his critics and not insecurity. In a series of tweets, the rights activist accused Buhari of pampering terrorists. According to Adeyanju: “Buhari has technically handed over Nigeria to terrorists groups. The takeover of a military base yesterday in Zamfara confirms this. “He is not interested in fighting insecurity but critics and the opposition. He hates IPOB and Oduduwa agitators so much but pampers terrorists. “You will all see how Buhari will deploy 30,000 soldiers and police in an attempt to rig the Anambra elections but he ignores all the security challenges in the North. “These bandits have brought down a military jet and killed many soldiers and citizens but he is not concerned.” https://dailypost.ng/2021/09/13/buhari-has-handed-over-nigeria-to-terrorists-hates-ipob-oduduwa-agitators-adeyanju/

Secession, fastest way to extinction — FG …As Sultan denounces religious extremism …AfDB President urges Nigeria to develop health security The Federal Government has again kicked against calls for secession by separatists in some parts of the country, warning that such would be the surest way to extinction of Nigeria. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo gave the warning, yesterday, in Abuja in a keynote address at the 2020 Leadership Conference and Awards organised by the Leadership Newspaper Group. The theme of the conference is, “National and Regional Security: Role of Political and non-Political Actors in Stabilization and Consensus Building.” Among awardees at the event were Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele; President, African Development Bank, AfDB, Dr Akinwumi Adesina; Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, as Persons of the Year; Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State as Politicians of the Year; Governor Ezenwo Wike of Rivers, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State as Governors of the Year. Other awardees include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Mr Boss Mustapha (Public Service Person of the Year 2020); Late Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope Seraph (Outstanding Young Person of the Year Posthumous Award); Shola Akinlade (CEO of the Year), Abdulrazaq Kutepa (Business Person of the Year); the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC (Government agency of the Year) and the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 (Government agency of the Year). Speaking at the event, Osinbajo said: “Often when we explore the concept of national and regional security, there is a tendency to situate the discourse around the machinations of externally generated vulnerabilities and external adversaries. So, we argue often that the problem is state fragility in Africa is on account of the colonial origins of her nation states. The notion for example that Nigeria is a hastily and arbitrarily cobbler together, patchwork of mutually alienated kingdoms and as a result it has remained plagues by fundamental challenges rooted in its founding. “Now, this is a popular view but of course it is not the whole true. Indeed, it is my view that the colonial beginnings of African nation states do not constitute inimitable obstacle to nation building that it is often thought to be. After all, colonialism itself was a historic global phenomenon across states from Africa to Asia to Europe and America. The chief weakness that we have is a human one. Our political, economic and religious elites, who have so far proved to be socially irresponsible, have so far been unable to build institutions. “We must be able to say to the young men and women who for instance say that secession is the only way or that we should break into little nations and that that is the only way. We must be able to say to them that that is the way to extinction of Nigeria not development.” Chairman of the event and Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Saad II on his part denounced religious extremism, saying religion should be a personal relationship with one’s God. He said working with other religious leaders, he would ensure that those who are fanning the embers of religious strife do not succeed. In his remarks, Dr Adesina noted that Africa should not be begging for COVID-19 vaccines. “Africa should be producing vaccines. Nigeria and Africa must put in place a health security defence system. Health security is only assured by being self reliant. It cannot be outsourced. AfDB will provide $3 billion for developing health infrastructure in Africa,” he stated. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/09/secession-fastest-way-to-extinction-fg/

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu's Team of International Lawyers Arrive Abuja Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu’s Team of International Lawyers Arrive Abuja | #IgbereTV “Fellow Biafrans and advocates for faith & freedom, the undertakings and initiatives of the directorate of State of the indigenous people of Biafra (DOS) is once again yielding fruits with the successful arrival of the IPOB international legal counsel for leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu headed by Bruce Fein of the United States of America in Abuja, Nigeria today. “The bid to solidify the legal fenses and excellence is necessary to ensuring a full protection and the rights of leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and further securing his release in no distant time. “Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s vision of principle of self-determination is profoundly ambodied in Article 1 of the chater of the United Nations. The DOS therefore holds dear the aforementioned chater and drawn in consonance with the famous quote of independence by Thomas Jefferson…. that “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.” These desires are made manifest in Biafrans and leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through a great deal of perseverance and tenacity with an irreversible believe that these must surely and imminently be achieved. “Meanwhile, stay tuned for a press statement by our combination of legal counsel scheduled to take place in a couple of hours between 11am & 12pm Biafran Time. “We have done it before and we will do it again, thank God we have discovered the anemy of this great family. “Thank you and may God bless leader, Nnamdi Kanu and may he bless Biafra!” Mazi Chukwuemeka Nzurumike Deputy Head of the directorate of State. President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of stockpiling weapons across Nigeria. Buhari, who spoke through his mouthpiece, Garba Shehu, said IPOB members killed security agents and set government facilities in the Southeast ablaze. He stated this in response to claims by the Amnesty International on human rights violation in the Southeast. Shehu, in a statement issued on Wednesday, lamented that Amnesty International was defending IPOB which is a terrorist group. He accused Amnesty International of backing a terrorist organisation against victims of IPOB. The statement titled: “Why Amnesty entreaties should be ignored”, reads partly: “Amnesty International’s latest salvo at Nigeria is but more of the same. “Again, they have decided to side with terrorists, before the liberty of those they injure, displace and murder. “Parroting the line of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, a proscribed terror organisation, they work to legitimise its cause to Western audiences. “This puts them in bad company. IPOB murder Nigerian citizens. They kill police officers and military personnel and set government property on fire. “Now, they have amassed a substantial stockpile of weapons and bombs across the country. “Were this group in a western country, you would not expect to hear Amnesty’s full-throated defence of their actions.” IPOB’s call for the breakup of Nigeria had led to some members of the group allegedly resorting to civil disobedience. Lately, attacks on security agents and facilities in the Southeast has been linked to IPOB and its militia arm, the Eastern Security Network, ESN. Despite the connection, IPOB had severally denied any claims of its members attacking security agents and facilities in the Southeast. IPOB had insisted that its members rely on peaceful approach in the push for Biafra. https://dailypost.ng/2021/09/02/nnamdi-kanu-ipob-has-stockpiled-weapons-in-nigeria-killing-police-military-buhari/?amp=1

Again, S-East grounded, despite cancellation of IPOB sit-at-home Roads deserted, business centres shut in Aba •Nsukka remains ghost town •Enugu roads remain deserted, markets empty •Onitsha, Nnewi still locked down •IPOB leaders should properly address Igbo Although the Indigenous People of Biafra, IpoB, has cancelled the weekly sit-at-home scheduled for every Monday, residents of the southeast geo-political zone have continued to volunteer themselves to sit at home, saying that the IPoB leader, Nnamdi Kanu who is currently being incarcerated in the DSS dungeon in the pursuit of Biafra restoration deserves their solidarity and encouragement, through the constant sit-at-home exercise of this nature. For the fourth time, the capital city of Enugu, Enugu State; the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State; the industrial cities of Nnewi and Aba amongst other major cities in the southeast were yesterday grounded, following a voluntary sit-at-home embarked upon by the residents of the zone. Roads deserted, business centres shut in Aba Roads were deserted as business centres were shut for the third time in Aba, since the suspension of the weekly Monday sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. The city was a ghost town as banks and markets like Ariaria international Market, Cemetry and Ekeoha, were also deserted as traders and customers stayed away. It was a different situation in Umuahia, the state capital, as some motorists plied the roads conveying passengers to their destinations. However, banks, markets, and other business centres were shut in Umuahia. Government offices were opened as workers trooped to work following the announcement by the state government ordering workers to be at their duty posts or risk sanctions. Some tricycle operators who spoke to Vanguard in Umuahia said they took to the roads to raise money to feed their families. “The sit-at-home every Monday has been biting hard on keke operators. Some of us operate on hire purchase agreements where we make weekly returns. We still feed our families and maintain our tricycles. And it is on Monday morning that we normally ply the roads and raise some money to complete the agreed weekly sum to pay those we entered into agreements with. Therefore, we are appealing for the relaxation of the sit at home,” a keke operator told Vanguard. However, it was gathered that traders stayed away from their businesses for fear of attack by hoodlums who may use the occasion to loot shops. They urged the government to provide adequate security to protect lives and property in the state. Nsukka was ghost town Academic, social, and commercial activities were paralysed in the six local government areas in Nsukka despite the suspension of the Monday sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB. Vanguard monitored the situation and observed that markets, banks, and other social activities were brought to a halt by the residents in compliance with the already suspended order. The opinion poll conducted by Vanguard also revealed that most of the residents are fed up with the marginalisation of the people of southeast zone by the present and past administrations in Nigeria and called on the federal government to unconditionally release the leader of the IPoB, Nnamdi Kanu from the detention room of DSS as a condition to stop the sit-at-home observation. While arguing that “those already on ground do not fear to fall,” the residents asked the federal government to stop treating the people of the zone as second class citizens in their own country, adding that what they have already lost by the bad treatment meted out on the people cannot be compared to the economic losses which may be incurred sitting at home on Mondays. Ebonyi locked down THE usual hustle and bustle that usually take place on Monday mornings were again not recorded as most locations within Ebonyi metropolis appeared calm and deserted. Commercial activities were grounded as a countable number of vehicles and other means of transportation were scarcely seen in operation in the state. When Vanguard visited some streets and adjourning roads within the capital, including Ogbaga, waterworks, Ezza, Ogoja and Gunning roads, shops were visibly under lock and key as traders did not open for business activities. Parks, Banks, and filling stations within the metropolis were not opened for their usual daily operations. While banks were shut, Automated Teller Machines, ATM centres of Banks were opened for customers to withdraw funds for daily usage. Residents of Abakaliki were scarcely seen on the streets of Abakaliki as most of them including civil servants stayed back home to avoid falling victims to the brewing socio-political situation in the southeast geo-political zone. At Udensi roundabout, a police pick-up Van with an array of security personnel were seen in the area as a means of forestalling any form of breakdown of law and order. Most shops along Udensi streets were also not opened for activities. However, it was gathered that First and ECO banks along Waterworks and Ezza roads carried out skeletal services while other banks were completely shut down. The phenomenon in the state, since the sit-at-home saga began was not felt. As the morning period progressed into the afternoon, the population size within the state capital gradually started increasing, including vehicular movements. According to the government manifest, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi was scheduled to hold his usual State Executive Council meeting by 2 pm. An apprentice, Miss Emmanuella Nwokerekwu from Ezza North Local Government Area of the state who went to work based on the directive of her madam said: “My madam said all of us should come to work today. I went but didn’t meet anybody. The shop is even locked. I’m going back. I don’t want any wahala.” Enugu roads deserted, markets empty Despite the withdrawal of the Monday sit-at-home directive earlier issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Enugu residents have continued to observe it. Major and even residential streets remained deserted yesterday. The markets too were empty with nobody inside them even though their gates were opened. Markets such as Abakpa, Timber, and Newmarket monitored by our correspondent had nobody inside them. The ever-busy NOWAS Junction in Trans Ekulu was deserted as commercial transport operators, including tricyclics withdrew their services. Those who came out trekked long distances to search for shops to buy household items but all shops except for the kiosks operated by Northerners were shut. Banks and schools were equally closed. Only very few petrol service stations opened with one gate to service a few private cars that passed once in a while. Those interviewed via telephone calls said they preferred to remain in their homes for the fear of being attacked. Others said it was because there were no transportation means. However, a journalist, Mr. Oliver Ossai said his village in Udenu local government area of Enugu state did not observe the sit-at-home. Onitsha, Nnewi still locked down Also yesterday, residents of Onitsha and Nnewi continued to observ the suspended sit-at-home order. As usual, markets, banks, filling stations and other business activities were shut down except for few tricyclists who plied short distances from Onitsha to neighboring communities like Nkpor, Ogidi, Obosi and environs. Roads and streets in Onitsha, the commercial city and Nnewi the Industrial town of Anambra State were completely deserted on Monday as people willingly or out of fear decided to avoid them and stayed indoors. This is even as a group Balance and Equity Group, BEG, has appealed to IPOB to make proper dissemination of suspension of its directed Monday weekly sit-at-home, saying it is beyond the powers of southeast governors to reverse or effectively encourage people to go back to business. The remarkable thing about the Monday weekly sit-at-home, for the past four weeks is that each comes with a different level of total compliance. The second sit-at-home witnessed a higher level of compliance while the third witnessed a higher level than the second . The fourth happened with people walking around the streets and youths playing football on the roads and streets. All the markets in the two cities as usual were under lock and key, including the Onitsha Main Market, the biggest in the state and Nkwo Nnewi, the biggest Motor Spare Parts Market in Africa. All the major roads and streets in the two business towns and their environs were deserted and banks located in them also shut down. Federal and State Government institutions like Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital NAUT,H Nnewi and General Hospital Onitsha had their gates openned for already admitted patients. Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, was under lock and key when Vanguard passed through Old Enugu Road, Onitsha where it is located beside Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC which also had its gate locked. IPOB leaders should properly address Igbo Meanwhile, BEG, a socio-political group, fighting for Nigerian President of Igbo extraction, urged IPOB, to use its usual medium of addressing Nigeria and the world to encourage people of the southeast to go back to their businesses on Mondays, saying that unless they ordered the people back, they will continue to observe the sit-at-home, either as a result of love for Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB or for the fear of consequences of disobeying the order at the detriment of the southeast economy. Founder and Coordinator of Balance and Equity Group, BEG, Mr. Chris Arinze made the call yesterday while addressing newsmen on the legality of the agitation of IPOB and the implication of every Monday sit-at-home in South East. According to Mr. Arinze, an Abuja based Consultant, it is very clear that the southeast governors cannot give a contrary order against that of IPOB for the traders and businessmen in Igboland to go back to their businesses on Mondays. It is therefore, left for IPOB to order them back to their businesses through the mass media as a show of love, respect, and loyalty, which they have also shown the pro-Biafra. “No doubt IPOB has suspended the sit-at-home after that of Monday, August 9, 2021, but that suspension seems not to be too convincing to the people. Some are still observing it out of love for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, while some are doing same out of fear or consequences of what will happen to them.” I’m aware IPOB has a coordinator in the town across South East, they can use the President General of the towns to make announcements of the suspension of the Sit-at-home and reassure people that they will be protected. The Igbo are in support of what Nnamdi Kanu is saying because they are incontrovertible facts, there is no doubt that Igbos are not well treated in Nigeria, but IPOB needs to look into its approaches. The idea of Monday weekly Sit-at-home at home does not favour us. Every genuine Igbo accepts that Igbos are not well treated, there are injustices against Ndigbo and Mazi Kanu cannot be faulted on that, but IPOB need to do something about this Monday weekly Sit-at-home otherwise people will continue to Observe it from now to December or when Mazi Kanu is released and it is not good for our economy. The southeast governors do not have the capacity and loyalty of the people to reverse or effectively order the people to go back to the markets and their businesses, it is only IPOB that gave the order that can reverse it. What it did by issuing a statement suspending it is not enough, they should the President General of Igbo communities who can use town criers to properly disseminate the information about the suspension of the sit-at-home. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/08/again-s-east-grounded-despite-cancellation-of-ipob-sit-at-home/

Igboho Sends Message From Detention, Identifies What His Dream Yoruba Nation Will Copy From Benin Republic He was quoted as saying that the West African country where he's being held hostage enjoys steady electricity supply Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho has said the secession of Yoruba Nation he has been agitating for will soon be achieved. Igboho stated this in a message sent to SaharaReporters via his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki. Koiki said the activist asked him to thank major Yoruba leaders in the country who had shown one support or the other towards the activist in detention in Benin Republic. Igboho was also said to have extended his appreciation to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Osile of Oke Ona Egbaland, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso; Olugbon of Orile Igbo, Oba Francis Alao; Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon and the country's Minister of Justice. He was quoted as saying that the West African country where he's being held hostage enjoys steady electricity supply, hoping that the same will apply to the separate Yoruba Nation which will soon be actualised. He said: "I am Olayomi Koiki, the spokesman for Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho). Our father, Chief Sunday Igboho extends his greetings to all Yoruba indigenes all over the world. “He also asked me to send my greetings to the King, Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, he said I should really appreciate you for the support, he said he can see how you're supporting him because his wife is delivering the messages. “He said I should also thank the Oba Tejuoso who has arrived in Benin Republic though they haven't seen each other. He also said I should thank our father, the Olugbon. “Igboho also asked me to extend my greeting to Wole Soyinka, he said I should also thank President Talon of the Benin Republic, he said I should thank the Minister of Justice (in Benin Republic) because despite what's happening, the security of Igboho's wife is guaranteed. “He said we should take a look at Benin Republic enjoying steady electricity supply. That's what we desire in the Yoruba Nation we have been agitating for and we will get there very soon.” Sunday Igboho was arrested alongside his wife in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the West African country on July 19 after fleeing Nigeria to evade arrest by Nigeria's secret police. The Department of State Services (DSS) had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a bloody midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State. DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunnaya, had advised Igboho to turn himself in. “Those cheering and eulogising him may appeal to or advice him to do the needful,” Afunnaya said. “He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law." Igboho was later arrested in Benin Republic while trying to flee to Germany with his wife. However, Igboho's wife has since been released from police custody while Igboho remains in detention in the West African country. http://saharareporters.com/2021/08/30/igboho-sends-message-detention-identifies-what-his-dream-yoruba-nation-will-copy-benin

Boris Johnson, Do Something, Afghanistan Today, Nigeria Tomorrow"—Nigerian Protesters Chant On London Street The two groups, during the Saturday protest, reiterated calls for their separate independent nations. Yoruba Nation agitators and Biafra Agitators last weekend held a protest in the United Kingdom over the violent clampdown by Nigerian government on agitators, including their leaders. Both Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafran, Nnamdi Kanu have been arrested. While Kanu was arrested in Kenya and brought to Nigeria, Igboho was arrested in Benin Republic, where he is fighting plans by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to extradite him to Nigeria. The two groups, during the Saturday protest, reiterated calls for their separate independent nations. They likened the continued fusion of the three major tribes in the country to that of the United Kingdom, Afghanistan and North Korea. They were seen calling on the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to intervene swiftly in the affairs of Nigeria so the security situation does not degenerate to what is currently experienced in Afghanistan. “Boris Johnson, do something! Afghanistan today, Nigeria tomorrow," they chanted. "ISIS is already in Nigeria. Our President is a terrorist," one of them said. The protest comes amid the current travails of the IPOB leader who has been in the detention of the Department of State Services since June. He briefly appeared in court, blindfolded, handcuffed and chained before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court on June 29. Operatives of DSS did not bring Kanu to court for a trial slated for July 26, and Nyako adjourned the case till October 21. The trial of Kanu resumed last month in Abuja where he faced terrorism and treasonable felony charges among others. The Nigerian government had said that Kanu was brought back after he jumped bail and went on the run in 2017. His family and lawyers said he was illegally arrested in June while in Kenya, tortured, and repatriated to Nigeria. On the other hand, Igboho was arrested at Cardinal Bernadin Gantin International Airport, Cotonou, while trying to leave the country for Germany. The Department of State Services (DSS) on July 1 raided the residence of the activist in Ibadan, Oyo state. Igboho had said he would be at a ”Yoruba Nation Rally” in Lagos two days after the raid. The DSS raided the residence, killing two people and arresting 12 aides but Igboho escaped. The agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted. He has remained in detention since his arrest in the West African country. http://saharareporters.com/2021/08/30/boris-johnson-do-something-afghanistan-today-nigeria-tomorrow%E2%80%94nigerian-protesters-chant

Open grazing: I was misquoted – Uzodimma From Stanley Uzoaru,Owerri Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma said he was quoted out of context by some section of the media on his recent comment on open grazing ban by the Southern governors. Uzodimma who gave the clarification through the State commissioner for information and strategy, Declan Emelumba said that was he meant was that farmers and herders were peacefully coexisting in the state as a result of mutual respect and understanding. He added that contrary to insinuations, the state has an open grazing law which became operative since 2006. According to the Governor, the law he noted provided for areas that were restricted from open grazing, stressing that the herders have been abiding by it. “The MOU the farmers and Herders signed was to strengthen the existing law and it is working very well, the Governor further clarified. He regretted the extreme interpretation the media gave to his comments on the matter, saying that what was important was the peaceful way farmers and herders have been coexisting in the state. According to him, “whereas a law on anti grazing may be desirable, dialogue and understanding as is the case in Imo state were more effective in addressing the conflict. Uzodinma however urged Nigerians to embrace inclusiveness and tolerance as necessary tools in building and sustaining a united country. The governor noted that all activities of the states and the people should be geared towards uniting the country and not creating divisions. He commended farmers and herders in Imo state for living in peace and pledged the support of government towards ensuring that they sustain their cordial relationship. Meanwhile, Uzodimma has urged striking oil marketers and tanker drivers to suspend their actions and follow due process in the resolution of the conflict. It reiterated its earlier position that the strike is illegal since the contentious matter of judgment debt is before the Appeal Court. He said that although what the oil marketers are doing amounted to blackmail and economic sabotage, Government has reached out to them to ensure that the strike is called off. “We have initiated talks with them. But it is important for Nigerians to know that the matter for which they started this strike is still in court. In the eyes of the law, the strike is illegal”, the commissioner averred. He disclosed that although the judgment which was obtained by a private firm Sunaz oil nig Ltd against Timik consult Ltd and Imo state government was done without the knowledge and legal representation from the government, it has not discountenanced it. ” It is instructive here that when the Okorocha administration demolished the petrol station, the marketers restrained themselves from taking the law into their hands by not embarking on any illegal action. Instead the affected dealer went to court ,suggesting that the marketers believe in the rule of law. “It is therefore surprising that the same people do not want the law to take its full course by embarking on an illegal action when the matter is still pending in the court of appeal ” the commissioner noted. According to him, what Government did was simply to appeal the judgment to enable it understand fully what was involved since it was the administration of Rochas Okorocha that carried out the act under consideration. He said that government has since informed the oil marketers that it will not hesitate to pay the judgment debt if the appeal is ruled against it. He accused the Sunaz oil nig. Ltd of taking undue advantage of his relationship with tanker drivers to drag them into a purely private matter that has nothing to do with tanker drivers. He regretted that the filling station which obtained the judgment is yet to start the process of execution before the oil marketers embarked on the strike. “The private company got the judgment on March this year. Government became aware of it only this July. Without even initiating the due process of execution of the judgment, these people are on strike. That reeks of blackmail and economic sabotage”. The governor has therefore advised the oil workers to immediately call of the strike in the interest of the Imo masses whom he said are innocent victims of their ill advised action. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/open-grazing-i-was-misquoted-uzodimma/

IPOB and Cameroon secessionists planning to team up to destabilize both countries' - FG The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, plan to form alliances with secessionist groups in Cameroon in order to destabilize both countries. The National Security Adviser; Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) made this known while speaking yesterday, August 24, at the opening ceremony of the 8th session of Nigeria – Cameroon Trans-Border Security Committee meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. Monguno reiterated that Nigeria’s territory will never be used as a "haven or staging area" by any group of secessionists to destabilize another friendly sovereign country. He pledged that Nigeria will work closely together to ensure that any real or perceived attempts to form any alliances between secessionist groups in Nigeria and Cameroon are decisively dealt with. Monguno said: "We will continue to support the efforts of the Cameroonian authorities by engaging all aggrieved parties to de-escalate the security concerns in the North West and southwest regions of the country "An emerging concern is the attempt by secessionist groups in Nigeria to form alliances with secessionist groups in Cameroon in order to destabilize both countries. Let me re-emphasize what I mentioned in my opening remarks during the 6th Session in 2019; President Muhammadu Buhari reassures you that Nigeria’s territory will never be used as a haven or staging area by any group of secessionists to destabilize another friendly sovereign country. "In addition, we will work closely together to ensure that any real or perceived attempts to form any alliances between secessionist groups in Nigeria and Cameroon are decisively dealt with. Furthermore, we will continue to support the efforts of the Cameroonian authorities by engaging all aggrieved parties to de-escalate the security concerns in the North West and southwest regions of the country. "The most dominant transnational security issue remains the threat of terrorism perpetrated by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs). These terrorist groups continue to exploit the porous border areas to disrupt the livelihoods of innocent citizens in their communities. "At this point, I am glad to acknowledge that the close counter-terrorism collaboration between our two countries has significantly curtailed the activities of these terrorists as well as other forms of criminality. In this regard, you have consistently demonstrated your courage, resilience, commitment, and steadfastness towards ensuring peace and stability along with the border areas of Cameroon and Nigeria. "It is however necessary to strongly reiterate that the work of securing our territorial borders is a collective responsibility and therefore we need to emphasize the importance of the sideline meetings of the Governors of contiguous border States/Regions. Their collaboration would no doubt assist in cross-border security and development initiatives. "It is equally imperative to engage the border communities and the traditional/local authorities at the grassroot levels in translating the decisions of the Governors’ forum into concrete actions. This can be done through the activation of the Local Bilateral Committees which can also serve as platforms for integration and revival of our historical and socio-cultural ties. "Our collective efforts under the auspices of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to significantly degrade terrorist activities in the Lake Chad Basin are yielding positive outcomes. This multilateral platform in collaboration with our international partners needs to be further enhanced as we are witnessing the gradual movement of some terrorist groups from the Maghreb to the Sahel in order to form alliances. "Nonetheless, we are also promoting series of developmental efforts in the North-Eastern part of the country to rehabilitate most of the isolated communities affected by the wanton destruction committed by terrorists." Reiterating the importance of expanding trade and investment in order to create a more viable and stable economy for "our people", Monguno said: "Nigeria is one of Cameroon’s largest trading partners despite the security concerns along some of the trading routes such as from Maiduguri to Kousseri or Maroua; Jabbi Lamba to Garoua; as well as from Enugu to Bamenda amongst others. Our two Presidents have earlier called for the development of these trans-boundary trade corridors which would no doubt serve as veritable platforms for the integration of ECOWAS and ECCAS sub-regions. "However, to effectively achieve this feat, we must collectively address smuggling of prohibited items and irregular migration amongst other transnational organized crimes. Meanwhile, it is necessary to state that this trade relationship is further reinforced by the recent conferment on Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian businessman with Cameroon’s top civilian award – Commander of the National Order of Valour for his outstanding contribution to the infrastructural development of Cameroon through his cement plants. "In addition, the newly constructed 1.5km, a two-lane bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon in Ekot-Mfum border area of Cross River State is designed to ease movement, facilitate trade, improve cross border security as well as strengthen relations between both countries. "We must therefore consolidate our joint efforts to address all the current and emerging security threats affecting both countries. This is due to the grave and unintended consequences of allowing such threats to thrive in our environment. Clearly, this underscores the collective resolve of our Presidents to continue to promote peace and stability in our respective countries. I strongly believe that both countries will surmount the similar and varied security challenges and even emerge stronger and more united." In his remarks, Minister of the Territorial Administration, Republic of Cameroon, Mr. Atanga Nji Paul, declared the readiness of Cameroon to continue to work with Nigeria to intensify trans-border security along the two country’s borders citing a resurgence of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist groups and secessionists agitations as well as kidnapping and banditry. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2021/8/ipob-and-cameroon-secessionists-planning-to-team-up-to-destabilize-both-countries-fg.html

REVEALED: Yorubaba Nation Agitators Release Proposed Constitution For New Country, Give Citizens Right To Bear Arms The agitators for the Yoruba Nation have drafted a proposed constitution for the new country if it is eventually actualised. SaharaReporters observed that the proposed constitution was drafted and submitted by a group, Yoruba Strategy Alliance, on Sunday, August 15. In a bid to guarantee the safety of its citizens, Section 13 of the proposed constitution, which was obtained by SaharaReporters, gives citizens the right to bear arms. The Section reads, “The right of the People to arms, shall not be infringed, save for necessary and proper processes as shall be determined by state legislatures.” The YSA had earlier filed a submission to the International Criminal Court, alleging that the Nigerian officials committed genocide and crimes against humanity, and perpetrated violence against the South-West people. According to the secretary of the YSA, Michael Awosanya, the Constitution was drafted after considering several factors, including, “the nature of our People, our strengths, and what we must admit as weaknesses." He noted that the proposed Constitution takes into cognizance the best practices in governance, including the separation of powers between the federal and state governments and between the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of government. It was also observed that an independent branch of government was created for Yoruba monarchs. He added, “This is a constitution of limited government, which begins with ‘The People’s Rights,' recognising that in a Democracy, the People are the source of power.” Agitations for a separate nation for the Yoruba people have been on the rise following the killings in the South-West region. Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) had brought to the fore, the clamouring for a separate nation, after several killings of Yoruba indigenes at Igangan, a town in Oyo State bedevilled by alleged attacks from Fulani herdsmen. The spotlight beamed on Igboho after he called for the eviction of the Seriki Fulani of the area whom he accused of sponsoring the killings of the locals. Since then, there have been rallies in various parts of the South-West region calling for the boycott of the 2023 Nigeria presidential election as the message ‘Yoruba Nation Now' reverberated. The umbrella body for the Yoruba agitation, Ilana Omo Oodua, led by Professor Emeritus Banji Akintoye, had also reiterated their stance on achieving a separate nation. Recently, the Ilana Omo Oodua and other groups revealed plans to present their case at the 76th United Nations General Assembly scheduled to hold in September. The group endorsed the petition by the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), urging the Nigerian Government to conduct a referendum. In a recent zoom conversation organized by UK-based Heritage Multimedia TV, one of the leaders of Ilana Omo Odua, Wale Adeniran, stated that the UN General Assembly would be an opportunity to explain the rationale behind the Yoruba nation agitation to world leaders. Adeniran, a pioneer Commissioner of Education in Osun State and former Director of Institute of African Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife said he would speak to Yoruba historian, Banji Akintoye, concerning participating in the session as part of efforts to drum support for the struggle. The 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) will be held from 14th to 30th September 2021 in New York, US. The first day of the high-level general debate will be Tuesday, 21 September 2021. Adeniran was quoted as saying, “That’s a golden opportunity for us to present our case forcefully, before the entire world. “During that one week, tell Yoruba people all over the world to come to New York and the UN general assembly. “I am going to tell Prof. Akintoye that we would have to be part of the event in the US.” He also gave an update about the Yoruba nation petition submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC). He added, “The ball is in our court to begin to push our case and continue to shout it. “We’ve submitted our letter and it has been acknowledged; it is now left for us to embark on aggressive propaganda for the ICC to look into the case. They are humans too. “That we have filed a petition is not sufficient. We have to keep making noise about it.” Meanwhile, Igboho, who had spearheaded the agitations, was arrested a month ago at Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the West African country. Igboho was arrested on July 19 after fleeing Nigeria to evade arrest by Nigeria's secret police. On July 1, operatives of the Department of State Services stormed Igboho's residence around 1 am, killing two of his associates and arresting 12 other persons. http://saharareporters.com/2021/08/17/revealed-yoruba-nation-agitators-release-proposed-constitution-new-country-give-citizens

Biafra: It’s time for referendum – Nnamdi Kanu’s disciple to UN, Biden, EU Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday said a referendum should be conducted within the next six months. Ekpa warned that a failure to conduct a referendum within six months would be very catastrophic. He said this while calling on the United States, US, President, Joe Biden; United Nations, UN; European Union, UN, among other international bodies to ensure a referendum. Ekpa, in a series of tweets, said the UN should not allow a repeat of the Biafran war before calling for the conduct of a referendum. He wrote: “Referendum for Biafra nation is now overdue @JoeBiden you did it during SouthAfrica apartheid, if Biafra is not looked into within the next 6months, it will very catastrophic @UN @EU_Commission@Europarl_EN @eu_eeas @10DowningStreet @IsraeliPM. “The @UN must not wait for another 30 years before they can conduct a referendum for Biafra. Your lackadaisical in handling South Sudan gave birth to the situation there today. Biafra war started in 1967 till date and you are waiting until we start throwing bombs everywhere again?” https://dailypost.ng/2021/08/11/biafra-its-time-for-referendum-nnamdi-kanus-disciple-to-un-biden-eu/

Tailoring Expert, Abba Kyari, Other Police Officers Behind Secret Killing Of 80 Southeasterners Falsely Labelled As IPOB Members—Report A report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law received by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, labelled Kyari and the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro as ‘The False Accusers and Executioners-in-Chief’ in the region. Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari has been accused of masterminding the killing of youths and other residents of the South-East under the guise of curbing agitations for Biafra. A report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law received by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, labelled Kyari and the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro as ‘The False Accusers and Executioners-in-Chief’ in the region. The report stated that Kyari, who was until recently the head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), supervised the deaths of many defenceless Nigerians in the South-East, labelling them members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) or its militia wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN). It reads, “The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law is shocked to disclose the recent secret killing of at least 80 uninvestigated and untried Igbo citizens abducted by the trio of the CP Abutu Yaro, CP, Imo State, the Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma and the suspended DCP Abba Alhaji Kyari, DCP in charge of IGP Usman Alkali Baba’s 'Intelligence Response Team.' “The secret killings had taken place at odd hours at the former FSARS Headquarters, Abattoir, Abuja, which now houses DCP Abba Kyari’s 'Intelligence Response Team' and DCP Kolo Yusuf’s 'Special Tactical Squad' and 'Tactical Intelligence Unit.' “The three NPF murderous squads are operationally under the NPF’s Directorate of Force Intelligence Bureau headed by DIG Tijani Baba. The recent custodial killing of detained Igbo citizens was disclosed to Intersociety by an activist legal practitioner who is very conversant with the matter and has been following the same. “The not less than 80 slain Igbo Judeo-Christian detainees were part of hundreds abducted mainly in Imo State under the direct supervision and false labelling and stigmatisation of the Imo CP, Abutu Yaro and handed over to DCP Abba Kyari Team for 'further interrogation and investigation in Abuja.' "The CP is also widely seen as the most lying CP in present Eastern Nigeria and has earned himself the infamous title of 'False Accuser-in-Chief.' His reckless and indiscriminate false labelling and stigmatisation of defenseless citizens, without proper investigations, have also gravely led to the killing of not less than 160 uninvestigated and untried citizens in Imo State in the past 220 days and also aided the killing by Abba Kyari’s IRT at Abuja’s FSARS’s Abattoir of at least 80 Igbo citizens mainly picked up and falsely labelled in Imo State. "CP Abutu Yaro And DCP Abba Kyari are named the False Accusers and Executioners-in-Chief." The report by the human rights organisation was signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi, Chinwe Umeche, Esq., Obianuju Igboeli, Esq., and Chidimma Udegbunam, Esq. The report described Yaro as “so hateful of the Igbo tribe and her citizens that every arrest made in Imo must be linked to ‘IPOB/ESN.’ Even in simple offences of affray or traffic or intra or interpersonal quarrelling, land grabbing or criminal trespass, they are magnified and over-bloated to suit being labeled ‘IPOB/ESN terrorism’ case.” Aside from the duo, the report also mentioned other top police officers like Abia State Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede; Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba; immediate past Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Ndatsu Aliyu Mohammed; and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, heading Special Tactical Squad/Tactical Intelligence Unit. Kyari, who has been linked to suspected fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), denied allegations of receiving money to the tune one $1.1million from Hushpuppi. The Attorney’s Office of the United States District Court had alleged that Kyari played a major role in a multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi and his co-conspirators. Hushpuppi, who has pleaded guilty to the fraud, told US prosecutors he gave Kyari part of the proceeds of the crime. But in a statement on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, Kyari denied demanding any money from Hushpuppi, but said he introduced the accused to a tailor whom Hushpuppi paid about N300,000 for clothes. “Friends: Abbas who we later came to know as Hushpuppi called our office about 2 years ago that somebody in Nigeria Seriously threatened to kill his Family here in Nigeria and he sent the person’s Phone number and pleaded we take action before the Person attacks his family,” he said, narrating his side of the story," he said. “We responded to a distress call he made on threat to his family and released the Suspect when we discovered there was no life threat from the Suspect. This is the true story. Vincent is alive, he can be contacted. “Later, he saw some of my Native Clothes and Caps on my social media page and he said he likes them and he was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300k directly to the person’s account. The Native Clothes and Caps (5 sets) were brought to our office and He sent somebody to Collect them in our office," Kyari said. http://saharareporters.com/2021/08/12/tailoring-expert-abba-kyari-other-police-officers-behind-secret-killing-80
