Wave of Biafra will continue until Nigeria is completely dissolved – Simon EkpaPublished on August 3, 2021By Ochogwu Sunday Simon Ekpa, one of the disciples of the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has declared that agitation for the Biafra nation would continue until it is actualized. Ekpa made the remark on Tuesday via a post on his official Facebook page. According to him, the agitation will continue to gain attention from the international communities until “Nigeria is completely dissolved”. He wrote, “The wave of Biafra will continue to blow across the globe until Biafra is restored and Nigeria is completely dissolved. “I am Simon Ekpa, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s disciple on Biafra Restoration”. Ekpa who is a dual citizen of both Nigeria and Finland was recently appointed to head broadcast on radio Biafra pending the release of his master, Kanu who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. Barely a month after he took over the functions, some officials of the IPOB, announced that he will be suspended for allegedly failing to comply with some set rules. https://dailypost.ng/2021/08/03/wave-of-biafra-will-continue-until-nigeria-is-completely-dissolved-simon-ekpa/?amp=1

NEWSHushpuppi: You arrested Kanu, Igboho, respect international law on Abba Kyari – Moghalu tells Buhari Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, a former presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to respect international law on the issue involving the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari regarding his link to international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi. DAILY POST reported earlier that Otis Wright of the U.S District Court for the Central District of California had told the FBI to track down Kyari and produce him before the court over his alleged role in a multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi, a notorious Nigerian fraudster. As widely reported in Nigeria and beyond, Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai over a year ago and pleaded guilty to fraud in the U.S earlier this week. The FBI said Hushpuppi and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money. The deputy commissioner of police was also indicted of receiving bribes from Hushpuppi to arrest a member of the syndicate in Nigeria. Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in U.S custody was unsealed on July 26. However, Kyari had in a statement on Thursday denied allegations of conspiracy with Hushpuppi, saying he only met him two years ago and did not benefit financially from the fraudster. Reacting to the news, Moghalu believes that since the Federal Government under Buhari has arrested Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and are also seeking to extradite Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Igboho, from Benin Republic, the president should follow due process on Kyari. He insisted that the FBI’s request for the extradition of Kyari in the Hushpuppi case will put Buhari and Nigeria in the global spotlight. The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, CBN, wrote on Twitter on Friday, “President @MBuhari has frequently opted for subjective loyalties over real political will on national security and fighting corruption. The U.S. @FBI request for the extradition of the accused police chief, Abba Kyari in the Hushpuppi case will put him and Nigeria in the global spotlight. “It’s one thing to go to great lengths in seeking to extradite Sunday Igboho from Benin Republic and the apparent extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from God-knows-where. It’s another to respect international law in black and white when it comes to certain Nigerians. “Nigeria and the United States have an extradition treaty and it has been used in a number of cases. Is this a bone in the throat? What leadership calls for is obvious. President Buhari should respect laws and follow due process. We are watching. https://dailypost.ng/2021/07/30/hushpuppi-you-arrested-kanu-igboho-respect-international-law-on-abba-kyari-moghalu-tells-buhari/?amp=1

Gani Adams berates DSS over failure to produce Sunday Igboho’s aides in courtPublished on July 30, 2021By John Owen Nwachukwu The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has berated the Department of State Services (DSS) over its failure to produce all the 12 aides of Sunday Igboho before the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday. Recall that the operatives of the secret police had invaded the home of Sunday Igboho in Soka, Ibadan, killed some of his aides during a gun duel and arrested about 12 of them. The DSS had on Thursday, said it had only three of the aides in custody as against the initial 12 reported in the media. Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi said the conduct of the secret police truly showed a complete affront on human rights. Adams pointed to the section of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which says that anybody arrested must be taken to court, latest 24 hours after arrest, while such a person’s rights must be protected under the law. The Yoruba leader said it was sad and most unfortunate that the security agency had arrogated to itself covert power that usually reminded Nigerians of the inglorious years of the military where citizens rights were jettisoned. “Our constitution is clear about the rights of every citizen that anybody arrested must be taken to court latest 24 hours after his arrest and such rights must be protected under the law. It is sad and most unfortunate that the DSS had arrogated to itself covert power that usually reminds us of the inglorious years of the military where citizens rights have no basis in their law,” he said. “Therefore, the DSS failure to present Igboho’s aides in court for the second time was a flagrant display of lawlessness and gross injustice. Ideally, it is only the president and the vice president of the country that have that immunity as provided by our constitution. So why is the DSS finding it too difficult to allow the constitution to take its course as it is done in other climes?” he queried. Adams, however, urged the DSS to be transparent in the discharge of its responsibility, adding that the case against Igboho was so sensitive in nature that the secret police as an institution could not claim to be above the law. Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is currently undergoing trial in Benin Republic after he was arrested over two weeks trying to escape to Germany. Sunday Igboho, who was declared wanted by the Nigerian authorities had attempted to escape the country through Benin Republic and was captured in Cotonou along with some of his family members. https://dailypost.ng/2021/07/30/gani-adams-berates-dss-over-failure-to-produce-sunday-igbohos-aides-in-court/

Igboho Is Like Prophet Muhammed Who Fled Mecca For Medina Over Persecution – Afenifere Afenifere lamented that “what is now regarded as Sunday Igboho’s travail ought not to occur at all if there had been good governance in Nigeria and people were not harassed without any just cause.” Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has said there is nothing wrong with Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, seeking asylum in another country where his safety can be guaranteed. The Afenifere's National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, said Igboho is like Prophet Muhammed who fled Mecca to Medina over persecution. He stated this in a release, titled, “Sunday Igboho Court Hearing: Afenifere Commends Olubadan, Ooni, Other Obas.” SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, explained that he sent a delegation to Benin Republic to allay the fears of several people, including protesters who besieged his palace. Afenifere said, “Sunday Igboho lives in Ibadan, got married in Ibadan, reared children in Ibadan, built houses in Ibadan and as such he has the rights to be protected by the Ibadan traditional institution within the ambit of the law just like any human being in Ibadan.” He also allayed public fears of a “repeat performance of Yoruba-Fulani coalition of 1814”. In its statement, Afenifere lamented that “what is now regarded as Sunday Igboho’s travail ought not to occur at all if there had been good governance in Nigeria and people were not harassed without any just cause.” “It is so sad that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is concentrating on hunting and harassing those who are seeking relief from the oppressive situation in Nigeria while shying away from tackling the menaces of kidnapping, terrorism and antics bordering on ethnic-cleansing,” the group added. Afenifere also said there was nothing wrong with this intention, as it narrated, “We recall that Moses had to be taken away from the prying eyes of Pharaoh and his agents in Egypt. Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) too had to leave his hometown, Mecca for Medina in order to escape persecution. “Thus, there is nothing wrong in Igboho seeking a respite first to preserve his life and perhaps to re-strategise.” SaharaReporters had reported that Igboho and his wife were arrested last Monday at the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport by security operatives following a signal the West African country received from the Nigerian government. On Thursday, the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, where Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arraigned on Thursday, ordered the wife to be released same day. The court had ruled that Igboho should be returned to custody. http://saharareporters.com/2021/07/26/igboho-prophet-muhammed-who-fled-mecca-medina-over-persecution-%E2%80%93-afenifere

Kanu’s trial not secret’, lawyer asks IPOB, others to attend Monday’s sitting Aloy Ejimakor, the counsel for the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has asked IPOB members and other supporters of the separatist to attend the agitator’s trial in Abuja on Monday. He said this in a press statement titled, ‘Security agents must not molest those coming to show solidarity with Kanu’, on Sunday. He explained that the statement was necessitated by reports that those coming to Abuja to show solidarity with Kanu will be harassed or even arrested by security agents. Biafran separatist leader Kanu was arrested and brought back to Nigeria after four years on the run. Kanu heads the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, which agitates for a separate Biafran state for ethnic Igbos in South-East Nigeria. While Nigerian authorities have not explained how he was arrested, his wife said he was snatched during a business trip to Kenya. Kanu’s trial for “terrorism” has been set for Monday, July 26. The statement read, “Let me make it clear that while I am not calling on people or Kanu’s supporters to throng Abuja for the hearing on Monday, it’s important to state that anybody who wishes to come is not doing anything illegal, provided such a person comes in peace. “Kanu’s trial is an open trial, not a secret trial and he’s presumed innocent until proven guilty. Therefore, anybody wishing to be associated with his trial by being present in Abuja is protected by his Constitutional right to freedom of association and movement. So, my message to all supporters of Kanu and even to Nigerian government is simple and that is: Everybody should be strictly guided by the rule of law pertinent to why Nnamdi Kanu is facing these tribulations and trials. “That pertinent rule of law is clearly codified by CAP A9, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, where it is stated at Article 20 that: “All peoples shall have the right to existence. They shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination. They shall freely determine their political status and shall pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen. “Above is the fulcrum of every other crime the Nigerian government is alleging against Kanu. Therefore, once government recognizes that the enterprise upon which Kanu is engaged is expressly recognized or protected by laws, it will see that dialogue, not trials and violence, is the only legal pathway to containing it. “I am saying this because the same Law that legalizes self-determination also requires the government to accommodate it. Article 1 of that Law provides that Nigeria “shall recognise the rights, duties and freedoms enshrined in the Charter and shall undertake to adopt legislative or other measures to give effect to them”. Further, subjecting Kanu to any trial under the circumstances of his extraordinary rendition will face lots of legal challenges. So, what is expected on Monday is not a trial but what Lawyers call ‘taking a plea’ or a re-arraignment on the amended Charges that might be brought. “Should that happen, the procedure permits taking an adjournment to study the new Charges for the purpose of advising the defendant on the next steps. “So, there’s nothing significant that will happen on Monday that warrants anybody, including the government, to be jittery. https://punchng.com/kanus-trial-not-secret-lawyer-asks-ipob-others-to-attend-mondays-sitting/

BREAKING: Protest Rocks Ibadan Over Sunday Igboho’s Detention In Benin Republic The agitators had also last week protested against the raid of Igboho’s residence by operatives of the Department of State Services and demanded release of the 12 aides arrested in Igboho’s house. The Yoruba Nation agitators will stage a protest in Ibadan, Oyo State by 12pm today, Wednesday, to demand the release of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, who was arrested by security operatives and detained in Benin Republic. The agitators had also last week protested against the raid of Igboho’s residence by operatives of the Department of State Services and demanded release of the 12 aides arrested in Igboho’s house. A terse statement by Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed today’s protest, saying all supporters of the activist were enjoined to participate. “Emergency, emergency, emergency; please, we beg all agitators to converge at the Chief Sunday Igboho’s House for a peaceful demonstration to show the world the kind of person he is as one of the conditions given for his release. “Please, let’s all be at his house in Soka, Ibadan, before 12pm today. Thanks and God bless. Yoruba Nation now now now,” Koiki said. Koiki had earlier said the Federal Government could not intimidate those agitating for the self-determination of the Yoruba Nation. He also stated that he believed Igboho would get a proper representation in the court. He made these known in a Facebook Live video on Wednesday morning as his principal spends the second night in a police cell in Cotonou, Benin Republic. He said, “We are not going to allow the government to intimidate us. We are not going to allow the Federal Government and politicians to deceive us. “We must remain strong and remain calm as we get freedom for Chief Sunday Igboho and the Yoruba race.” Igboho was arrested while he tried to catch a flight to Germany with his wife. The Federal Government of Nigeria had placed the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service on alert to stop Igboho from leaving the country. A source privy to his departure from Nigeria on Monday had told SaharaReporters that Igboho was arrested while he was heading to Germany. http://saharareporters.com/2021/07/21/breaking-protest-rocks-ibadan-over-sunday-igboho%E2%80%99s-detention-benin-republic

Buhari's Government Ruthless On Ighoho, Kanu, Weak Against Bandits, Boko Haram, Kidnappers—Ozekhome He noted that the Nigerian government has shown a tendency to maintain two separate laws for two regions. Human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), has accused the Muhammadu Buhari-led government of chasing shadow with the arrest of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Ozekhome in a statement on Tuesday said Buhari’s administration abandoned AK-47-wielding armed bandits, Boko Haram terrorists, and other deadly insurgents, including ransom-taking kidnappers, only to be running after Igboho and Kanu. The statement read, “The Federal government appears supersonically effective and efficacious when it comes to arresting and repatriating dissenters and challengers of its morbid nepotic and sectionalistic government. “The same government paradoxically appears abysmally weak and hopelessly helpless when it comes to fighting AK-47-wielding armed bandits, Boko Haram and other deadly insurgents, including ransom-taking kidnappers who are almost kidnapping the very heart and soul of Nigeria on a daily basis. The Nigerian Nation appears captured by non-state actors." He noted that the Nigerian government has shown a tendency to maintain two separate laws for two regions. He continued, “To me, this lopsided template demonstrates acute intolerance and ambivalence. It shows self-contradiction. It shows an inclination towards enforcing laws against certain people, against certain classes of people, while at the same time turning away the other eye in enforcing laws against the other preferred and pampered set of people. “Such does not make a nation grow. Such does not make democracy work. Such does not build confidence and inclusiveness, the very reasons for the Igbohos and Nnamdi Kanus of this world. Such does not enjoin patriotism and the building of nationhood. “The same government that is suddenly effective in the case of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho has never been able to capture kidnappers, armed bandits, and Boko Haram that are daily ravaging us, turning Nigeria into a sprawling field of human carnage. They take ransom. Innocent schoolchildren are paid for. Where is the same government when kidnappers are demanding that the parents of kidnapped children should now be feeding them in their kidnap dens? “But, it suddenly becomes effective and audacious when it comes to arresting and even ambushing and attacking in their very homes, self-determination activists and crusaders. I am not impressed with this at all. The government may thump its chest for temporary gains. But, does this solve the problem? See this as merely pursuing butterflies while the house is on fire. Recall history: Major Kaduna Nzeogwu Chukwuma. Isaac Adaka Boro, Ken Saro-Wiwa. The Ogoni 5. Are we out of the woods? I do not think so. Or, do you?” http://saharareporters.com/2021/07/20/buharis-government-ruthless-ighoho-kanu-weak-against-bandits-boko-haram-kidnappers

Nigerian Government Must Explain How Nnamdi Kanu Was Arrested From Kenya – UK Parliament The UK Minister of State for the Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad, demanded that the Nigerian government should explain to the British government how it repatriated the IPOB leader. The United Kingdom Parliament has stated that the Nigerian government has to explain the roles it played and the manner of the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, from Kenya. The UK Minister of State for the Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad, demanded that the Nigerian government should explain to the British government how it repatriated the IPOB leader. This followed a debate by the UK Parliament on July 7, during which British lawmakers discussed the UK government’s assessment of Kenya’s role in Kanu’s arrest. Lord Alton of Liverpool raised the issue at the House of Lords, seeking to address the controversies surrounding the transfer of Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria against his will. He also sought to know if there was any assistance provided to the embattled IPOB leader by the High Commission in Abuja. A parliamentary schedule stated, “Lord Alton of Liverpool to ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of (1) the alleged role of the government of Kenya in the detention and alleged mistreatment of Nigerian activist Nnamdi Kanu, (2) the circumstances surrounding the transfer of Kanu to Nigeria against his will, and (3) of any assistance being provided to him by the High Commission in Abuja. HL1665.” In response to the parliament’s debate, Ahmad said, “We are seeking clarification from the Nigerian Government about the circumstances of the arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu.” Ahmad also confirmed claims by the British High Commission in Abuja that the UK government was providing consular assistance for the IPOB leader. “The UK has requested consular access to Kanu from the Nigerian government, and we stand ready to provide consular assistance,” he maintained. While the Buhari regime has refused to disclose how it repatriated the IPOB leader from Kenya, the UK government had clarified that Kanu travelling with a British passport was not arrested within its shores. IPOB had also accused Kenya’s special police force of arresting, detaining, and torturing Kanu before the authorities handed him over to the Nigerian government. But Kenya, through its high commissioner to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, refuted the claim, stating that the East African Country was not involved in the whole process. But findings by The Guardian, a UK newspaper, indicated that he was arrested in Kenya, as Kanu’s UK passport remains in Kenya. He was said to have entered Kenya this year with his British passport on a visa expiring in June, the newspaper reported. Also, Kingsley Kanu, a brother to the British-Nigerian citizen, insisted that the Kenyan government was involved in the arrest. http://saharareporters.com/2021/07/20/nigerian-government-must-explain-how-nnamdi-kanu-was-arrested-kenya-%E2%80%93-uk-parliament

Nnamdi Kanu Preached Unity To IPOB, Supporters, Not In Nigeria – Lawyer Speaking with SaharaReporters, Ejimakor insisted on how the Nigerian government had continued to prevent the IPOB leader from signing the consular forms seeking to assist him. The rearrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu is not negotiating the agitation of the Biafra nation which he began in 2014, his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, has clarified. Speaking with SaharaReporters, Ejimakor insisted on how the Nigerian government had continued to prevent the IPOB leader from signing the consular forms seeking to assist him. IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Recall that Ejimakor, last week, had said in his tweets that Kanu preached unity and tolerance in the custody of the Department of State Services. “UPDATE: Today, I met with Onyendu at the DSS. We spent nearly four hours. My interaction with him was fulfilling. He’s cheery and looks forward to overcoming this predicament sooner than later. Again, he stressed UNITY and tolerance on all sides. He has you all in his thoughts,” his tweet had read. UPDATE: Today, I met with Onyendu at the DSS. We spent nearly 4 hours. Ibarapa attack: We alerted govt but nothing was done -Igangan group The Igangan Development Advocates has said it received an intelligence report that armed bandits were planning to attack Igangan town before or on the day of Eid-el-Kabir. The President of the group, Wale Oladokun, who said this in a statement on Saturday, said it alerted state offices in charge of security but “nothing was done to prevent the attack”. Oladokun spoke shortly after the coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress in Oyo State, Rotimi Olumo, told our correspondent that he also issued a statement on the attack and advised government to beef up security in Ibarapaland. The IDA said suspected Fulani gunmen dressed in Customs uniform invaded Igangan, Ayete and Igboora again on Friday night and killed some persons, including an officer of Amotekun. He, however, stated that there were plans already to twist what happened and blame residents of Ibarapa for attacking Customs officers. He said, “The IDA had earlier warned the relevant offices of the state government in charge of the security of the state of the impending attack when it categorically submitted that a reliable “intel” was received that there was going to be an attack on Igangan before the Ileya Festival ( Eid el Kabir). “It is now very obvious by the singular action of these armed bandits whom have unchecked access to government apparatuses such as Customs’ uniforms and sophisticated weapons that the people of Ibarapa have clearly become pawns in the hands of the kingly sects of the sacred cow’s extraction – the untouchable first class citizens. “Government should either face the fact of this submission by the IDA or admit total failure and incompetence than struggling to subject this recent bloody attack to propagandist facts’ distortion.” Oladokun explained that the group had to come out to puncture the alleged planned post-attack propaganda, which he said might come from the government that Customs officers on legal duty were attacked by Ibarapa people. “Having dressed like Customs officers, the story has been preplanned to be distorted right from the outset by these armed bandits suspected to be Fulani. “Government may wake up and claim that Customs officers on official duty have been attacked by residents of Igangan while discharging their duties,” he added. https://punchng.com/ibarapa-attack-we-alerted-govt-but-nothing-was-done-igangan-group/

Nigerians Seeking Separate Nations Have Committed No Crime—Lagos Assembly Speaker, Obasa The lawmaker cautioned the military against the deployment of personnel to suppress agitations for secession. JUN 16, 2021 Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa says has said agitators clamouring for the disintegration of Nigeria have not committed any crime. The lawmaker, on Tuesday, cautioned the military against the deployment of personnel to suppress agitations for secession. Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa Obasa maintained that the use of force will not bear the desired result since it is part of democracy for citizens to speak out about leadership. He said although 22 years of unbroken democratic rule in Nigeria is worth celebrating, there are issues causing chaos in the country. The Speaker spoke during the debate on a motion on Nigeria’s democracy raised by Setonji David, Daily Post reports. The Assembly members advised the Nigerian Government to engage agitators across in a dialogue. “Those that elected have the right to protest when they think things are not working. The right to protest should not be taken away from them. “There is no crime in seeking for separate nations within an existing nation. Those representing the people through the ideology of social contract must listen,” Obasa added. Speaking on the ban on open grazing by herdsmen, he urged governors of Southern states to remain resolute in their decision. “Having stated their position, they should not go to sleep. They should follow it through. We will continue to call for state police and devolution of power,” he said. Obasa hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for signing an executive order granting autonomy to state legislature and judiciary and for honouring the late MKO Abiola with the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day. The House observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abiola, winner of the 1993 presidential election, and all those who died in the course of the struggle. http://saharareporters.com/2021/06/16/nigerians-seeking-separate-nations-have-committed-no-crime%E2%80%94lagos-assembly-speaker-obasa

Wole Soyinka Backs Biafra, Oduduwa Republics' Agitators, Says It’s Their Right To Secede In a statement, the professor criticised the use of force against the agitators of self-determination, insisting it is the responsibility of the leadership to persuade them. Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has said those calling for the sovereign nations of Biafra and Oduduwa have rights as free citizens to call for secession. In a statement, the professor criticised the use of force against the agitators of self-determination, insisting it is the responsibility of the leadership to persuade them. Wole Soyinka “It is time to think outside the box. That many, in so doing, find no landing place except dissolution, is not a crime. It is not peculiar to any peoples, and is embedded in the ongoing history of many, and not only on this continent. “It is their natural right as free citizens, not slaves of habit and indoctrination. Where disillusion rides high, sentiment tumbles earthwards, and the only question becomes: what can be salvaged? It thus remains the responsibility of leadership to persuade them, through both discourse and remedial action, that there are other options. Attempted bullying is not a language of discourse, nor the facile ploy of tarring all birds with the same feather,” he said. While speaking on President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement about the genocidal threat, Soyinka said while he was not in support of those killing and destroying government’s properties, the President’s statement to ‘deal with them in the language they understand’ was wrong and ‘tragically untimely.’ SEE ALSO Soyinka Reacts To Nigerian Government's Suspension Of Twitter, Buhari's 'Bullying' Tactics 6 Comments3 Days Ago “I hold no brief for those who resort to burning down police stations, slaughter their occupants simply for the crime of earning a measly monthly pittance, torch electoral offices, assassinate politicians in calculated effort to set sections of the country against others in the promotion of their own political goals. “These are largely nihilists, psychopaths and/or criminal lords, soul mates of Boko Haram, ISWAP, Da’esh and company, not to be confused with genuine liberators. All over the world, throughout history, elections are denounced, boycotted, and generally delegitimized without recourse to wanton butchery. “When, however, a Head of State threatens to 'shock' civilian dissidents, to 'deal with them in the language they understand', and in a context that conveniently brackets opposition to governance with any bloodthirsting enemies of state, we have to call attention to the precedent language of such a national leader under even more provocative, nation disintegrative circumstances. What a pity, and what a tragic setting, to discover that this language was accessible all the time to President Buhari, where and when it truly mattered, when it would have been not only appropriate, but deserved and mandatory! “When Benue was first massively brought under siege, with the massacre of innocent citizens, the destruction of farms, mass displacement followed by alien occupation, Buhari’s language – both as utterance and as what is known as 'body language' – was of a totally different temper. It was diffident, conciliatory, even apologetic. "After much internal pressure, he eventually visited the scene of slaughter. His language? Learn to live peacefully with your neighbours. The expected language, rationally and legitimately applied to the aggressors, was exactly what we now hear – 'I shall shock you. I shall deal with you in the language you understand,'” he said. http://saharareporters.com/2021/06/07/wole-soyinka-backs-biafra-oduduwa-republics-agitators-says-it%E2%80%99s-their-right-secede

I'm Fully For Yoruba Nation, Nigeria's Breakup —Lagos Monarch The traditional ruler stated that the country is damaged beyond repairs and fiscal democracy which has been provided as a solution is too late to redeem the destruction of Nigeria. Amonarch in the Somolu-Bariga area of Lagos, Oba Gbolahan Timson says restructuring is no longer a remedy to Nigeria’s numerous problems. He identified the solution as the disintegration of the country along ethnic lines. The traditional ruler stated that the country is damaged beyond repairs and fiscal democracy which has been provided as a solution is too late to redeem the destruction of Nigeria. He also said the Oyo State-based rights activist, Sunday Igboho has just rewritten his name as one of Yoruba legends to be remembered in history because of his selfless efforts to realise the sovereignty of the Yoruba nation. Timson disclosed this in a video on Monday while reacting to the massive supporters that Sunday Igboho had amassed within a short of period of time. “Restructuring is too late. It’s no longer a solution. The nation is faulty beyond repairs. If it’s for me and my household, I support Sunday Igboho and other Yoruba agitators for self-determination of the Yoruba people to have the Oduduwa Republic. When they have been telling the Nigerian government about regional resource control and fiscal federalism, they didn't heed the call,” Timson said. The monarch, however, said that he would prefer that Yoruba people break away from Nigeria without war, while adding that the agitation for self-determination became so paramount to Igboho because some murderous Fulani herders killed his relative who had recently relocated to the country to invest in large scale farming. “But, all I’m particular about is that we should not go to war. We should not carry arms to separate or secede. The reason why Igboho is hell-bent on the Oduduwa Republic was that the Fulani herdsmen killed his relative. “His relative had made a fortune abroad and came to Nigeria to invest in large scale farming, but these criminal Fulani people killed him on his farm. There was no way such a heinous act would not trigger agitation. He believed if he didn’t take any action to separate the Yoruba people from these Fulani, this would continue,” he added. The Oba further said that old legends in Yoruba folklore always won their battles but most of their setbacks came from betrayal from their own people, stressing that the Yoruba people should support Sunday Igboho. He also said that one of the repercussions of such betrayal was the reason why Lisabi and Alaafin Aole cursed the Yoruba nation. “And let me tell you, there is no way the modern history of Yoruba will be written now that Sunday Igboho will not be there because of his selfless service to rescue Yoruba people from modern slavery. Sunday Igboho can be likened to old brave Yoruba warlords like Lisabi, Ogendengbe of Kiriji War, Adubi, and others. “Yoruba people from Egba betrayed Lisabi after he fought for them, and he cursed them. That was the reason for all these issues of Abiola and Shonekan, Awolowo and Ogundipe and the rest in modern politics. There would not be time for me to go deep into it. “Sunday Igboho will succeed with this agitation he has started. There was no warrior in Yoruba that had a purpose that didn’t fulfil it but the obstacle was the curse placed on the Yoruba people due to the betrayal. So we just have to support him. He needs to succeed,” he said. http://saharareporters.com/2021/06/02/im-fully-yoruba-nation-nigerias-breakup-%E2%80%94lagos-monarch

Sunday Igboho demands release of OPC members arrested over warlord, Isikilu WakiliPublished on May 15, 2021By Sikiru Obarayese. Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho on Saturday warned Oyo State, the Federal governments and the Nigeria Police to immediately release all members of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) in custody over the arrest of the Fulani warlord, Isikilu Wakili in Ibarapa. He gave a weeks’ ultimatum to Oyo State and the federal governments to release the arrested OPC members before all Yorubas troop out en masse to protest it. Recall that the Oyo State Police Command announced that it took into custody some members of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) in connection with the earlier arrest of Isikilu Wakili. But Adeyemo during a rally in Osogbo by the Yoruba nation to demand an independent nation warned against their continued detention. “I urge the Oyo, Federal Governments and police to release OPC member who arrested Fulani herdsmen terrorising Yoruba people in Ibarapa land immediately. Before all Yorubas will come out en masse to protest against it. “They apprehended some Fulanis who were disrupting the peace of Ibarapa and handed them over to the police. But the Oyo State Police and Nigerian Government now arrested them which should not be so.” Earlier, DAILY POST had reported that Yoruba nation agitators armed with placards, chanting secession songs converged at the November 27 bridge in Osogbo. While distributing handbills to residents, the agitators marched from the November 27 bridge through Ogo-Oluwa, Ola-Iya to Freedom pack. The Yoruba agitator, Adeyemo arrived at the venue of the rally around 1:45 pm on Saturday. Adeyemo while speaking at the protest said there will be no election in Yoruba land in 2023. He added that the Yoruba nation must leave now as it is no more a slave to the northerners. Adeyemo said Governor Gboyega Oyetola allowed the Yoruba nation agitators to hold the rally in Osun and provided them with security. While seeking unity among Yorubas, Adeyemo asked all that are aggrieved to come together. However, one of the Yoruba nation promoter, Akin Adejuwon, a lecturer of Cultural Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, who was a Director-General, National Troupe of Nigeria said the protest is eye-opening for Yoruba youths to take over and fight for Oduduwa nation. We are here to enlighten and sensitise the youths. The youth are the owners of the Yoruba land. The Fulani enslavers and murderers, must not take our land from us. “A thousand generation of the Fulani herdsmen cannot overpower the Yoruba youths. We are not one of those who live in the bush. Some animals living in the forest cannot claim our lands. “We are here to awake the youths’ consciousness to what is right. We are here to educate the youth against voting in 2023. https://dailypost.ng/2021/05/15/sunday-igboho-demands-release-of-opc-members-arrested-over-warlord-isikilu-wakili/?amp

Lagos CP IPOB blacklist: Statement possibly misinterpreted…, concerned groups say ON MAY 11, 20218:35 AMIN NEWS Following what has been described as “insensitive and untimely,” the statement of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, on IPOB as a threat, concerned groups have lamented the possibility of the statement being misinterpreted as an Igbo plot against Lagos and Yoruba people. They described Odumosu’s statement as “dangerous, given the fragile nature of Nigeria.” On Monday, the Lagos police boss, in a statement, was quoted to have said the police is investigating threats from IPOB and Oodua Republic agitators. Reacting, a statement signed by nine Yoruba movement groups, and made available to Vanguard, backed the police to carry out their duties, but berated the decision to publicly declare IPOB as a threat. The concerned groups highlighted their 12 points below: 1) The attention of Pan Yoruba groups has been drawn to reports by the Nigerian Police Force, NPF that Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, (IPOB-IGBO) are planning to attack Lagos. The Lagos State Commissioner Odumosu made the allegation in Lagos today. He speaks for the police high command in Abuja. 2) While we cherish the responsibility of the police to do their work, we are concerned about the public declaration of the alleged IPOB plans to attack Lagos by the Nigerian Police. 3) We are worried that since the police already claimed to be in possession of what appears to be a confidential information, the proper thing would have been to discreetly go after the IPOB members to arrest them unless the police is not sure of its information. 4) The police statement carries the possibility of being misinterpreted as an Igbo plot against Lagos and Yoruba people. This is dangerous given the fragile nature of Nigeria. 5) We are deeply concerned that the Police publicly declared allegations tempts the prospect of setting Yoruba in the South West against Igbos. This is very unfortunate at a time that state institutions are increasingly being turned to instruments for pursuing primordial ethnic interests. The Yoruba will work never to allow this to happen 6) We are concerned that terrorists and armed herdsmen of Fulani extraction have openly been attacking, kidnapping, raping and killing Yoruba people in the South West but at no time did the police call a press conference to announce such plan after before or after each horrendous killings. There was also never a time the police linked such attacks to any ethnic group. 7) Only recently, Yoruba in Mile 2 were attacked by these people, the police did not make any attempt to speak about the ethnic identity of the perpetrators yet we know they are largely from a section in the North. We are concerned that the police allegation risks setting a greater danger of ethnic conflict between Igbo and Yoruba people, conscious that this will benefit a certain group who think setting Igbo against Yoruba will meet the objective of scuttling the search for peaceful self determination by the two great civilisations9) We urge the police not to allow themselves to be used by the desperate Caliphate whose agelong dream is to divide the South and set the people against each other for its own narrow gains. 10) We urge Yoruba people to ignore the conscious attempts to cause ethnic conflict between Igbo and Yoruba at this time that both ethnic groups need each other. 11) The police should avoid ethnic profiling. It is dangerous. The Pan Yoruba groups assure of our collective desire to sustain peaceful coexistence between Igbo and Yoruba and avoid any slide into ethnic conflict, an ill wind that blows no one any good. To this end, we shall set up a Committee to work out a platform to sustain ethnic harmony in Lagos. 12) On police plan to attack agitators for Yoruba self determination, We urge the police have respect for internation laws and should signify the basic democratic principle which is the right of a people to debate their political and economic future. Signed 1) Femi Ajibola Oodua Nationalist Coalition, ONAC 2) Dr Kunle Oshodi, Agbekoya 3) Alhaji Taofik Adeyemi, Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC (Reformed) 4) Chief Diran Obalola Oodua Liberation Movement, OLM 5) Mr Femi Agbana Yoruba World Congress, (YWC-Lagos State Chapter) 6) Mr Rasaq Arogundade, Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC-Reformed) 7) Mrs Eunice Okunola, Oodua Women Coalition, (OWC) Pastor Goke Otunla, Network for Yoruba Alliance, (NENA)9) Ahmed Korede Apapo Oodua Koya, (AOKOYA) Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu, through the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, has urged the public to disregard Odumosu’s pronouncement, saying that is an intention to fuel division between Yorubas and the Igbos, “It won’t work. This is not 1967,” he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/05/lagos-cp-ipob-blacklist-statement-possibly-misinterpreted-concerned-groups-say/
