People complaining of stanbic low rates should also put into consideration their monthly compounding. Monthly compound interest of stanbic makes their rate equivalent to 16% per annum although it's still relatively low compared to others.

Actually you know the right thing to do but you are just waiting for reasons to encourage you to make the wrong decision (which is what you will still make anyways). 5m or 10m Naira in 5 yrs is N10m or N20m

The 10m you are getting in 5yrs time is the actual value of your money within that period. The same way 100k of 5yrs ago is almost equivalent to 1m in today's valuation. So in essence, you are not making any profit (interest), you are just avoiding loss of value. In otherwords, fighting inflation.

With 18.5% minimum annual interest from mutual fund or fixed deposit just know you make 1/3 of your invested capital every 2 yrs( even after 10% WHT is deducted). You double your capital in 5 yrs, so ensure you are more intentional/ strategic with nothing less than 18.5% annual interest.

In my short experience so far, I have realised that MMF is not meant to make you rich. it's there to reduce or stop inflation from eating up your savings. So It shouldn't be used as a major source of income or to replace your job except you have 500m+ in it. it's just a tool against inflation. If you have this same mentality, you won't be worried about how long it takes you to double your money(interest) rather you will be grateful your savings isn't loosing value.
