InvestmentRe: If You Don't Want Transport Business To Send You Back To Village Try This by suckprick: 7:06am On Feb 22
Op has said everything but I am just going to add 1 or 2.

1. Money market fund is not a get rich quick scheme, so I advise to invest funds that you won't be needing for atleast 1yr

2. Equity/stock is risky (a bit like forex and crypto). There's a tendency to loose your money unless you're ready to leave it there for about 5yrs or more.

So the 900k profit/interest in a yr stated by OP is not a guarantee. My advise is to do MMF only as a way to guard your money against inflation not as a profit making venture.

Conclusion: MMF is a great way to save while earning good interest much better than a regular savings account.

Anyone still having funds with Stanbic? I neva gather morale leave them despite their low rate. I have more than 46M there.
I advise you leave your money there. I know all fund asset management carries equal risk but stanbic has the highest liquidity amongst all. I know someone that has 1.4b+ there but refused to put even 10m in others. When I asked, he said stanbic na institutional asset management, others na mostly for individuals (I don'tknow what that means). I have my biggest investment in stanbic too but I also diversified to cowrywise with lesser fund.

N.B: I am not associated with stanbic in any way except for being an investor like everyone of us so this is not a promotion or advert for stanbic asset management. DYOR

Any low risk or risk free investment that's above 5% interest per month is a scam. So if they offer you above 5% per month, they should also tell you the risk involved. If there's no risk of loosing your money, just run.

You are to blamed or responsible for what cowry has done by channelling all investment into one pool. You are always promoting trustbanc here displaying/ comparing their daily rate with other fund managers, there by sending heavy traffic of investors to their platforms. Cowries realized this and decided to invest for people instead of allowing them to go to Trustbanc directly through their platform.
New investors must go to Trustbanc platform directly which is a bit of challenge or not as easy as accessing via cowrywise. Creditalerts, you do this one, you nor try at all. You just cast the ease of accessing trustbanc via cowrywise.
Does this make any sense to you? An individual on nairaland broadcasting rate is influencing the decision of a company controlling billions of naira investment? What is the essence of displaying different MMF in the first place if not for freedom of choice. Abi I go see 19% go put money for 15%? Cowrywise know wetin dem dey do. They will invest in trustbanc themselves @19% and pay us 16% which is a bad thing to do.

So stop blaming an individual helping people with best MMF choice here abeg.
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by suckprick: 4:01pm On Feb 10
This cowrywise wan start to cheat people. They will now collect people's money, invest it on trustbanc themselves, get 19% and pay out 16.7%. Ojoro people. Make they sha preserve my money with them o. Make nothing do am at all.

Jayce242:
Kindly read the bold again, does it even make sense to u? So if Stanbic is offering 5% for MMF & cardinal stone is offering 17%, I should leave 70% of my funds in Stanbic? You are comparing Stanbic fund managers to regular savings account instead of comparing it to other fund managers? How is comparing a lion with a goat a fair comparison? You guys are unbelievable
Your analogy is impossible nah. How can stanbic offer 5% while others offer 17%. Na wa o.
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by suckprick: 10:09am On Feb 09
petomas:
Let them continue. If they like let them bring it down to 5%, I’ve started moving my MMF funds from there in trenches to Trustbanc via Cowrywise already
What now happens when trustbanc interest drops? You move it back again? Best is to just split your funds. Forget like 70% in stanbic no matter the rate, then put 30% in cowrywise to use and shop around for best mmf.

No matter how low stanbic mmf drops, it will still be better than regular savings account.

You don't need to worry yourself. All these things dey get expiry date koz every gambler once passed through this your current phase. Las las your eyes go clear, and guess what? You won't totally quit it o, you will just develop a high level of self control to avoid betting every single time (humbled). No one actually quits gambling, shey person no dey gamble na say you no start am at all. Once you start, it lives with you for life. Just that you will just outgrow the constant urge of playing every time (Next phase). So calm down my guy. There's nothing you can do about it now until you graduate from this phase.

Me i don tire to explain the multilayered approach to security for fund managers. Trustbanc only manages our funds, the funds itself is with UBA Nominees. So na UBA we should be praying doesn't fold. Even if dem fold sef, the money wasnt a deposit, it was used to buy securities, either TB(meaning govt go refund) or placement with other banks. So the money will still come back.
Does this apply to all fintech? Can you say the same for cowrywise? I am thinking of putting 30m there to shop on various mmf offers on their platform especially on trustbanc doing 19%+ but I dey fear 😁. I am currently using Stanbic but the rate is not encouraging at all, I just dey use am based on level of trust. What's your advise?

RomanceRe: Any Woman Who Can’t Pay Her Own Bills Will Always Choose Survival Over Love by suckprick: 10:37pm On Jan 12
Dpsychologist:
This is not an insult. It’s not hatred. It’s not a gender war. It’s just reality.

Any lady who is not responsible for her basic bills can never genuinely love you without survival sitting in front of everything else. Love may be there, yes. But hunger speaks louder than emotions. Pressure beats affection. Reality overrides romance.

Let’s be honest.

When a woman’s gas finishes, rent is due, data is gone, transport money is missing, and her life is constantly one emergency away from collapse, her decisions will always be survival based. Not values based. Not love based.

That’s how you start seeing patterns like: “My gas is finished.” “I don’t have transport.” “Send me data.” “I haven’t eaten today.”

At first, you think you’re helping someone you care about. Small care. Small support. Then it becomes routine. Then entitlement creeps in. Then affection is tied to transfers. Then silence follows anytime you say “I can’t.”

At that point, you’re no longer dating. You’re subsidizing a lifestyle.

And here’s the painful truth most men learn late:
You can never know if she loves you or just loves the relief you provide.

When survival is the priority, everything else becomes transactional. Respect becomes conditional. Loyalty becomes flexible. Attention follows whoever is more consistent with provision.

This is why some men swear a woman “changed” after they lost money. She didn’t change. The survival cushion disappeared.

A woman who pays her own bills relates from choice, not desperation. She chooses you, not your wallet. She can walk away if she’s unhappy, not stay because rent is due. Her affection is clearer because it’s not mixed with fear.

This doesn’t mean men shouldn’t provide. Providing is natural. It’s masculine. But there’s a big difference between supporting a partner and carrying an adult who hasn’t learned to stand.

If every bond you share is tied to topping up data, refilling gas, or rescuing her from constant financial emergencies, that’s not romance. That’s maintenance.

Love should be a partnership, not a payment plan.

So yes, those constant “send me” patterns are red flags. Not because helping is bad, but because dependence poisons sincerity.

A relationship built on survival will always collapse the moment survival is threatened.

Choose wisely.

InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by suckprick: 12:13pm On Dec 13, 2025
emmasoft:
On Point 1: Nature of Mutual Funds

Mutual funds are primarily defined by the nature of the fund, not by the fund manager. Broadly, they are categorized as:

Low risk – e.g., Money Market Funds (MMF)

Medium risk – e.g., Bond Funds

High risk – e.g., Equity Funds

Irrespective of the fund manager, the safest category—by definition—is the Money Market Fund. Whether the fund manager is old or newly established, an MMF remains low risk and focused on capital preservation.

For example, an equity fund does not become less risky because it is managed by Stanbic, nor does it become more risky because it is managed by Norrenberger or a firm that started less than a year ago. Risk is determined by the asset class, not the brand name of the fund manager.

On Point 2: SEC-Mandated Checks and Balances

For every fund type, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) mandates a strict structure of checks and balances. These include the following parties:

- Registered Fund Manager
The fund manager must be registered not only with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) but also licensed by the SEC. SEC registration is the key requirement here.

- Custodian Bank
This is an independent bank that is completely unrelated to the fund manager. A fund manager that belongs to a banking group cannot use its affiliate bank as custodian.
Examples:

Stanbic Asset Management → Custodian: UBA

Norrenberger → Custodian: UBA

FBNQuest → Custodian: Citibank

United Capital (UCAP) → Custodian: Stanbic Bank

Therefore, assuming you are dealing with a bank simply because the asset manager belongs to the same group is a misconception. The bank and the asset manager are separate entities with no operational overlap in this regard.

- Trustees
Trustees act as co-signatories to the fund accounts. This is why collection accounts of fund managers typically carry two names.
No funds move in or out without the knowledge and authorization of the trustees. They also ensure that the fund’s mandate is strictly followed. For example, they ensure that investors’ funds in an MMF are invested only in approved instruments such as Treasury Bills and commercial papers, and not diverted into equities or other high-risk instruments, regardless of attractive rates.

- SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)
In the capital market, the SEC is the apex regulator. It oversees and regulates all activities of fund and asset managers.
Simply put, the SEC is to fund/asset managers what the CBN is to commercial banks and other deposit money banks.

Finally,

Any fund that operates with all the structures above in place is safe to invest in, even for very large sums, and investors can be confident and at rest.

Anything outside this framework—regardless of the name, promised returns, or how long it has existed—should be treated with caution, as it is likely a Ponzi scheme.

Also, the fact that I share registration links does not make me your fund manager, nor does it mean you are investing with me. By reason of knowledge and experience, I am simply a representative and ambassador of some of these firms.

Please be well guided.

IamtheDef:
This is actually incorrect, these companies that you have listed are separate entities distinct from the banks that you have mentioned (they used to be under the same umbrella but not anymore) . Different scope of business and regulators, if something were to happen to FBNQuest for example, First bank isn't going to refund your investment nor is it their business
But atleast the reputation built by first bank over the years means this FBNQuest is unlikely to fold up.

I have written much about this at different occasions on this thread that the safety of your fund or risk associated with it doesn't depend on the fund mansger rather, it depends on the nature of the fund.

For as much as a fund manager is regulated by SEC and all the parties to the fund are present, no worries irrespective of the age of the fund manager, your investment is safe.

I'm not writing this because I'm a rep to Norrenberger, it's the fact about asset management from experience of over 20 years.
Thank you. Please can you shed more light on the bolded.

Hi, I am thinking of investing about 100m on Norrenberger because their interest is very okay at the moment compared to others, however I am concerned about the confidence level on them at the moment considering the fact they just started operation about 8yrs ago. It's relatively new compared to some established asset management. Please I need advice from experienced investors, what do you think?

On the new app, login to your MMF account and click wallet.
Select buy funds then pick buy new funds it will take you to the list of all available funds including MMF; you can now select any product of your choice. Any fund picked this way, will create a new account even if you have the fund already.

By the way given the current rate of Stanbic, I advice you open a new MMF with Norrenberger to enjoy better rate at the moment instead of having more MMF with stanbic.

Stanbic MMF is 16.32% while Norrenberger is 19.07% as of today, 09 12 2025.
