You don't see the benefits of studying in Brazil but you are applying to study there.

You said from "experience" it's expensive to go there? Which experience if i may ask? Have you lived there?

There are several countries you can choose from since you have so much pessimism about Brazil

erico2k2:
Guys una nor vex ohh, could anybody here plz tell me the benefit of studying in Brazil, I just want to know since large group of us are applying. From experience, it is realy expensive to go there

do not give yourself unnecessary anxiety, family reunion visa application takes time, don't expect to get a response just after one month. it can run from 3-5 months or more.

leripiper:
Hi, please i got an invitation letter with my family’s name attached to it from my institution in Brazil and it was notarized in Brazil but still haven’t heard from the embassy since I submitted my application on the 1st of December. Not even to mail or drop off or correct anything. What could be the issue please? Thank you in advance, anticipating your reply

For those preparing towards March resumption, use these 3 months to do the following;

1. Learn the Portuguese language through Youtube and other platforms. Do not wait till you arrive Brazil, the course work can be overwhelming and it becomes difficult to create time. learn the basics at least.

2. learn how to prepare presentation on Google slides and research report writing on docs/PDF. Students are not scored based on one-off exam like in Nigeria, they use tests, article reports, laboratory experiments reports and performance in presentation.

contact your supervisor and confirm the type of scholarship(Bolsa) and the amount, it doesn`t take much to discuss these things. Brazilian professors are very friendly and easy-going.
If your supervisor have a personal project with funding, he would inform you, if it is departmental scholarship under CAPES or CNPQ he will let you know also. personal project scholarship is quite higher than CAPES, some Msc students get as high as R$5000 depending on the funding agency.

Confirm from him and tell him to indicate the scholarship(Bolsa) in the admission letter. March resumption is still far, don`t be in a rush, getting your admission letter with scholarship makes the process easier, so just be calm and communicate with your supervisor.

Beforenow:
Good day, @SugarPg and everyone. I'm reaching out for assistance with a matter. I recently got admission to UFSM, Brazil and my supervisor mentioned a possible scholarship during the interview. I requested a sponsorship letter for visa processing last week, and they agreed to send it as soon as possible. I'm unsure about the content and whether it will cover my expenses. Should I wait for the sponsorship letter or proceed with preparing my Proof of Funds? The resumption date is March 5, and I'd appreciate any guidance or advice. Thank you.

Additional info: My supervisor mentioned a possible scholarship multiple times during the interview, and I'm hoping it's confirmed in the sponsorship letter. If I receive the letter, I'll know if I need to prepare POF or not. Looking forward to your insights.

My advice to you is to go with one step at a time, don't be too anxious about some of these things. Apply for your visa, get into the country, focus on your program, explore other opportunities, invite your family over, give birth and secure permanent residency if you want. Brazil is not a country that chases anyone around because his or her study visa expires.
If you want to continue with PhD after masters is to apply in your school or other schools and you continue your stay. The only major issue with Pec-Pg is that your certificate get sent to your home country.

Additives:
Thank you at @Sugarpg and everyone that has been giving valuable information here.

Please I have a question,

Good afternoon,

I'm reaching out for guidance on a matter concerning this PEC scholarship. My name is on the list , and I'm grateful for the opportunity if I made the final list. However, I'm facing a challenge as a family man. The scholarship terms state that I must return to my home country after completing my master's degree.

My concern is that my family mayjoin me in Brazil, and my wife may secure a job or study visa. In this scenario, I'd like to explore options to opt out of the PEC scholarship's return requirement without jeopardizing my visa status or facing any penalties.

I'm eager to understand if there are ways to navigate this situation without becoming an undocumented immigrant. Have others in similar situations found alternative paths? Are there any precedents or expert advice on how to approach this?

My goal is to explore opportunities in Brazil while maintaining a legitimate immigration status. I'd appreciate any guidance or insights on how to address this situation.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

This format will be followed to prioritize the final selection list. older candidates and female candidates will get the edge in each program.

Baltes:
Sorry to ask, are they still going to pick the 350 out of the 3000+ or will they Increase the slot?

Anyone who is serious about migrating to Brazil should focus on study visa and don't waste time and resources on applying for tourist visa.

Congrats on your visa approval.
Your CPF can be issued to you in Nigeria without appearing for appointment at the embassy.

If doesn't happen, you can always get it done once you arrive Brazil. Visit a Policia federal and you will get it without much stress.

francollimasso:
My study visa got approved today

@TadeDetule @SugarPg my CPF appointment is still in review, i want to know if i can easily get a CPF in brazil, because its compulsory for my enrolment in my univeristy
TravelRe: Study In Brazil: Admissions And Visa Procedures by SugarPg(m): 1:22am On Oct 05, 2025
My advice to you is to put that admission aside and apply first for the PEC-PG program and directly to other schools.

You can enroll to secure the admission before the deadline elapse but try and apply to other schools that will give you scholarship.

If you don't have the financial means, you will face lots of challenges without the monthly stipends.

You need time to settle down and learn the Portuguese language before you can start hustling with any skill or handwork you have.

OluAbby:
Hello…
Good evening, everyone

I recently got admission into University of Santa Maria to start March 2026. No scholarship

That means I have to take care of my bills and other expenses. I need guidance on which skill which fetch me more money - I am a teacher but I have basic skills in sewing, I’m thinking of doing advanced level before coming to Brazil or learn data analytics via YouTube and other learning platforms.

Also, will the school inform me on how to go about visa processing? I don’t know how that works or how much it will cost and proof of funds too.

Please I’d appreciate any advice I can get. Thank you!
