DomPerignon:
Imagine Zik had concentrated on developing Calabar or PH to rival Lagos but instead he decided to make Enugu the capital of old Eastern region purely out of continuing Ibo marginalisation of the coastal minorities

Before there was an Abuja there was an Enugu that pillaged the resources of minority people to build an Ibo city
Zik was very limited. Calabar or PH would have rivalled or surpassed if it were made the regional capital.

Ozommadu:
Imagine lagos was never the capital of Nigeria for a day, without federal government built seaport, Airport, bridges and multinationals huh

Just imagine
The seaport was already established even before the British arrived in Lagos. The Seaport was built by the Portuguese, which is why it is called Lagos. The first major builders of Lagos were the Saro and the Aguda (of Brazilian descent). They built the Portuguese-looking houses across Lagos and Abeokuta.

Lagos' problem is overpopulation. A city designed for 300,000 people now has a population of over 22 million. This is why the indignes are fed up.

SeeWahala:
That is the power of Lagos Ibadan Expressway media lies that these people want us to believe.

The amotekun officials must have done something to trigger the army personnel there by warranting the bloody reprisal attack but these people will shield the realmnews and instead promote the picture of army behaving savagely without provocation. Leave them to continue, the truth will come out soon enough
Whatever the Amotekun operatives might have done, it is not enough to trigger this kind of reprisal.

This is why there is a clamour for state police. The National police and army cannot be trusted; they will know that some of them are working with bandits across the country.

PoliticsRe: Only ADC Can Tackle The Challenges In Northern Nigeria – David Mark by sulaak(m): 9:45pm On Jul 26, 2025
Ofunaofu:
Fellow Nigerians, it's time we give the ADC coalition a chance.

That Tinubu and the APC have failed woefully and spectacularly is no longer up for debate.

The so-called master strategist and blueprint builder has turned out to be an ineffectual buffoon, completely out of touch with the reality of the people.

Two years into this administration, we are not hearing how many jobs have been created, how many Nigerians have been lifted out of poverty, or any measurable progress. The key indicators of governance have been thrown out the window.

Instead of securing lives, Nigerians are being murdered in cold blood. Villages are razed, towns deserted, and all we get from the government is silence or worse, distraction.

Food prices are skyrocketing, naira value worsening, inflation is choking families, transportation costs have doubled, and survival is becoming a privilege instead of a right.

This is not leadership. This is organized failure. And it must not continue.
I agree, let's split the nation so that ADC can focus on developing the North. The North are killing Northerners. Why should the South be held back by the hopelessness of the North?
PoliticsRe: We’re bringing Peter Obi back to PDP – Jerry Gana by sulaak(m): 10:15am On Jul 26, 2025
ogmask:
My advise to Peter Obi is to be focussed.
He should watch before he leaps.
The troubles of the PDP are far from over. Until the likes of damagun and other moles in the PDP is wiped out the party will not move forward.
In my opinion, Obi running as the candidate on any platform will fall short. He should collaborate with a strong northern candidate. At this point there's nothing like the turn of the South. It's time to take off the gloves and fight. When tinubu, a Muslim, chose another Muslim in shetima to deputies, "the turn of a Christian deputy" didn't stop his victory. Obi should work with a strong northerner in 2027 and run afterwards.
The North is no longer a dominant force in Nigerian politics. No, IGR, poverty, Sharia law and insecurity have turned Northern Nigeria into Somalia

If PO were a good politician with a strategy, he could have transformed APGA into a respected regional party and then built an alliance with other regional parties to secure an election victory. Instead, PO jumped from one party to another, leaving room for Tinubu and Buhari to build a political party that will destroy Nigeria
PoliticsRe: 2027: Tinubu Has Taken Over South, He Needs Little Votes From North – Fayose by sulaak(m): 7:42am On Jul 26, 2025
Curious345:
This is absolutely not true. Probably he took only the southwest
Tinubu will take the SW, middle-Belt and some parts of the SS. PO will take the SE and some part of the SS/MB. Atiku will do very well in the 10 northern states. The vote will be split, and hopefully, it will force Nigeria to take regional restructuring very seriously.

BTW, I despise Tinubu and his greed, but the arrogance of the Fulani North has forced Nigerians to support this vile man. PO has got the BW in the SW.

Insecurity is self inflicted.

Northern Nigerian elites are behind Insecurity with their support of Fulani cattle herders, al-jama'ah and Sharia laws, illiteracy and environmental degradation.

Tinubu will be wasting his time if he tries to solve a problem that Northern elites control. Tinub should focus on a productive project, such as the Eastern Rail Project, that will link Onitsha to Northern Nigeria.

If this project is done as budgeted for, it will be a legacy project of more significance than the coastal project as rail transportation would help decongestant the pressure on roads
Although I don't like the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway because it is unnecessary in Nigeria's current economic climate, if the project is completed, it will open up the two most dynamic regions in Nigeria. The SS and SW.

The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway also has a plan for a railway in the middle of the highway.

Lekki Port was built by Lagos State and foreign investors. The FG license has been approved for ports in Onitsha, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, and Cross River State.

Dangote is presently building a port in Ogun state, yet all the Igbos billionaires are waiting for the federal government, which hasn't built a port in 50 years.

PoliticsRe: Senate Approves Tinubu's Plan To Borrow $21.8 Billion by sulaak(m): 5:36pm On Jul 23, 2025
nairalanda1:
Senate budget for this year, padding included is....4 trillion naira. Out of 33 trillion naira. That's 2.6 billion dollars...not even up to half of what they are borrowing.

They are borrowing because when they set the budget, they expected oil to be at least 75 dollars per barrel. OIl has for the most part been below 70 dollars per barrel since January. It even went as low as 58 DOLLARS per barrel.

Result: Shortfall. Hence borrowing.
The budget, which was based on $ 75 and 2 million barrels per day, was overambitious and unrealistic. The government should have prioritised the cut in government expenditure, reduced the size of the bloated government and cancelled some of the unnecessary projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway.

If there is any need for excessive borrowing, it should be for investing in the electricity infrastructure. a country of 220 million generating 5000 MW has no hope of lifting its people out of poverty.
PoliticsRe: Senate Approves Tinubu's Plan To Borrow $21.8 Billion by sulaak(m): 12:48pm On Jul 23, 2025
koxyz:
Borrowing that is not tied to any capital projects,at the end of the day, the fund will find its way in the pockets of some politicians.

God is watching.
The borrowing is tied to the padding by the senators; this is why they rebased the economy to support more borrowing. If Tinubu said he was borrowing to build a Hydroelectric Dam, a deep-sea port an electricity power plant and transmission, I would support him.

Blame the Senator and house of Reps

The Senate on Tuesday approved President Bola Tinubu’s 2025–2026 External Borrowing (Rolling) Plan, which includes requests to borrow $21.8 billion, €2.1 billion, and ¥15 billion, as well as a €65 million grant, to finance key projects and programmes across various sectors of the economy.

MightySparrow:
are you saying Tinubu should not play politic as a politician?
He is the elected president; his job is to govern. Nigeria will judge him on his actual achievements, not on fake political ones. Naming a historic university after a president who could barely speak good English is insulting to the people of Bornu state

SmartPolician:
That was one of Buhari's best legacies

When E-Bola came on board, he shouted, Subsidy is gone.

Yet, he had no idea how to manage the aftermath of subsidy removal.
The legacy of retaining oil subsidies was two recessions $100 billion in debt, and 120 million Nigerians in abject poverty. When a government borrows dollars to import refined PMS, all he has done is postponed the end of that country.

Buhari was a disaster.
