We love education or we are blind consumers?

What is the impact of all these universities?
They keep young people off the street, create jobs for lecturers and administrators and provide business for landlords, or you would rather they herd cattle like Fulani in the North.

It's weird considering the fact that with these stats, one would think the SW would be leading in education in this country
The literacy rate in the SW has declined due to the ineffectiveness of the SW political class. The good news is that the literacy rate in the SW remains over 80%, and a change in leadership can help address these failures. Well done SE/SS in keeping the literacy at the top.

To be honest, Yorubas are good in investing in the private university ownership business, all thanks to Winners, Redeem and Seventh Day Adventist that opened their eyes to the lucrativeness of private university ownership business.

I am using this opportunity to appeal to our wealthy Yoruba men and women, please come to Southeast and invest in university business. Southeast is a very fertile region for university ownership business. Check all higher institution enrollment statistics, they all support my claim, come to Southeast and invest, stop being scared of coming to Southeast to invest only to turnaround tomorrow to claim Igbos don't sell lands to none Igbos, We do. I personally have versed plots and hectares of lands to sell to highest bidder in Owerri, Enugu, and few at Awka.

You will never regret coming to Southeast to invest in university ownership business, remember you guys have a competitive advantage in that particular business, so capitalize on it and take over Southeast and other regions. American investors are never scared to invest in any country or region, even in war torn and crises ravaged countries, only cowards give excuses for not exploring business opportunities in other regions and terrains
This is the right mentality. I laugh at Yoruba who attack Igbo businesses in the SW. Encourage investments in your region that will create jobs and opportunities.

Private universities getting more licences everyday. It's now a booming lucrative business venture due to the huge school fees. Who regulates and monitor them ? Anything goes,so far you can afford the fees. Educational standard needs to be seriously improved on.
Nigeria needs more universities with higher standards and facilities.

Nigeria needs a presidential candidate who campaigns on the separation of North from South or strict regional autonomy. Then nothing will happen.

The terrorists know themselves and why they are doing it, they are preparing for a war that will allow them to invade the South and take complete control of Nigeria. They have already started with Sharia law in the SW

There is more than enough ammunition to attack Tinubu, the bloated government, and unnecessary infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal road.

But in terms of debt, as of today, Tinubu has reduced the external debt from $47 billion to $44 billion. I have limited knowledge of the domestic debt

Kc3000:
My friend,
That's not how Nigeria is structured. The state governments and local authorities have done all they are capable of doing by forming vigilantes. I've explained to you already that only the military is equipped to fight these terrorists.

The resources to combat this menace are all at the federal level. The military, police, paramilitary are all federal establishments. The resources to secure Nigeria are allocated to these organizations, this is the only reason they exist.

No matter how you twist it, you cannot pass the buck to civilians to fight these terrorists. The commander in chief must do whatever is necessary to ensure the military is up to the task of defending the nation from terrorists. Failure to do so is an indictment on him, and further demonstration of his incompetence.
You said the state governments and local authorities have done all they are capable of doing by forming vigilantes.

Northern governors have just accepted the creation of state police. The vigilantes are usually uneducated hunters with little or no organised command and control structure to organise a defence against the ongoing insecurity nd insurgency. The vigilante should be used as a backup spy.

Buhari was against Amotekun having automatic weapons. Ametokun is an organised armed militia with a command and control hierarchy led by a retired military officer. Amettokun can easily integrate into a state police when it is formed.

The resources may be at the federal level, but the evidence suggests that Nigeria's federal institutions are ineffective.

The Nigerian army and Navy have failed to end oil theft in the Niger Delta. Under the leadership of a former military General, Buhari, the so-called federal army exacerbated the problem to the point that Nigeria's oil exports dropped to less than 1 million barrels per day.

The Nigerian army has already stated that kinetic military tactics cannot end the insecurity and insurgency. The state and local governments must do more.

ALTERNATEID:
You don’t even need to be an expert to know this. When Obasanjo became the president, he started a gradual removal of subsidy but by the time he was leaving, the subsidy amount was more than what he met.

Yaradua, Jonathan and Buhari also did the same thing. Most people don’t know that the serial pms price increments were basically an attempt to gradually remove subsidy. They all failed.

Judging from experience, it’s obvious a gradual removal can’t work. Do it at once and face the consequences. That is what Tinubu did.

Now, we’ve all adjusted. Everyone now knows market will determine the price and nothing else.
Well said .

Nigeria had FX backlog that the country couldn't pay, which is why Etihad Airways withdrew from Nigeria. Any gradual change in Nigeria will never work because the cabal will work against it. Removing FX controls and fuel subsidies was the only option

The majority of those out-of-school children in the SW are from the North. SW is the hub of internal immigration from the SE, SS and North.

The out-of-school statistics are more than 20 million, likely around 50 million.

PoliticsRe: Bandit Leader, Turji Demands ₦50m To Allow Farming In Zamfara, Niger Communities by sulaak(m): 9:53am On Jun 11, 2025
Kc3000:
No state government in Nigeria is equipped to effectively combat the menace of transnational terrorism that is ravaging Nigeria. Almost every state in Nigeria has some form of government supported vigilante outfit, just like you have your amotekun. These civilian outfits, as much as they try, are no match to these terrorists. At best, these vigilante groups are armed with pump action guns(many are still wielding dane guns), these terrorists have assault rifles, grenade launchers, machine guns, anti-tank weapons, anti-aircraft machine guns, I've even seen them brandishing shoulder launched surface to air missiles.
This is definitely a job for the military, the police cannot even contend with these filthy agents of terror, talk less of poorly armed civilian vigilantes. Clearly, amotekun has not ejected these terrorists from yoruba forests, as they're still causing mayhem in that axis. Mind you, the situation in the North is far worse than what is experienced in the south.
It's extremely shameful that the Nigerian military has not been up to the task of doing what is necessary to ensure absolute annihilation of these terrorists. As the commander in chief, Tinubu, like his predecessors, has to be held accountable for this gross failure.
My Friend.

Nigeria is a federal republic; the state may not be equipped today, but that doesn't mean that it should not start the process immediately. Nigeria itself is not equipped to fight the current insurgency, so waiting for a federal government that has not existed for the past 10 years

As a Local Government Chairman or Governor, your number one responsibility is to your people. If the president is missing, take it on yourself to do the right thing and protect your people.

In 1999, the Northern Nigerian elite introduced political Sharia across the Northern states. Have the states seen any economic or social improvement 26 years later?

In Nigeria, Sharia has been instituted as a main body of civil and criminal law in twelve Muslim-majority states since 1999, when then-Zamfara State governor Ahmad Sani Yerima began the push for the institution of Sharia at the state level of government.

But everything is wrong with APC's dishonesty about the subsidy removal.

The promised economic benefits of the subsidy removal is yet to be evident in the economy of the nation.

So, bloggers should stop twisting what Obi says. As Obi said that subsidy removal is not bad, did Obi say that this regime has been honest and prudent in managing the subsidy removal?
The economic benefits included fuel subsidies and the removal of foreign exchange controls. Removing both policies will lead to immediate financial hardship, but over time, the economy will stabilise if the government cuts the cost of government.

You think the West will tolerate the uncontrolled migration that Nigeria tolerate, the lack of internal and external migration is the root cause of poverty, insecurity and violence in Nigeria.

There are too many Nigerians in Ireland, and the people want them out.

Bestwt001:
It's really understandable why MURIC is upset about the train rides. When you see free rides for Christmas but not for Eid, it absolutely feels like a double standard. Professor Akintola makes a strong point about fairness, and it's especially jarring when the government is led by Muslims.
This isn't just about train tickets; it's about feeling equally valued in your own country. The government really needs to explain this disparity or, better yet, fix it to show all Nigerians that they're treated with the same respect and consideration.
All Nigerians benefited from the Free trains in December. The free train service during Christmas aimed to increase patronage of services across Nigeria following the impact of the removal of oil subsidies. The situation is quite different now; fuel prices are lower, and train services have become a mainstay of Nigerian commuters.
