Realtruth2023: Oga stop being dense. We know the name was unitary decree but again did he collapse the regions? No, he lept the regional structures intact. The only thing about the unitary decree was the unification of the civil service. Please read the paper that I shared with you. It clearly states that regional autonomy was severed from the regions, and the centre was strengthened. |

Realtruth2023: Oga you people should know when to give up and throw in the towel. Ironsi never abolished regional system it was Gowon that did it. Ironsi only centralised the civil service. See the research paper from your own Igbo countryman. Ironsi promulgated the unification decree No 34 http://eprints.gouni.edu.ng/2268/1/RENAISSANCE%20UNIVERISTY%20JOURNAL%20OF%20MANAGE%20MENT%20AND%20SOCIAL%20SCIENCES%20%28RUJMASS%29.pdf

Righthussle: Opening a church is still the surest way of making money in 2024. I laugh when people say this... Just like every other business out there, you need wisdom, intelligence, very hardwork and grace/luck to succeed and become rich. Do you know how many people open new churches every single day and still remain paupers? You can't expect me not to insult you after the stupid comment you quoted above. It's well known that only stupid people are susceptible to paying pastor tithes that end up buying Range Rover, Rolls Royce, and private jets for corrupt passports. The relationship has no wisdom or intelligence, just the typical stupid African who wants something for nothing and ends up with nothing. |

Mindlog: Gowon created the 12 states out of the regions, ending regionalism but dem hang for Ironsi head. Aguiyi Ironsi's decree 34 abolished the regional system in Nigeria. The military government is not, by definition, unitary, but Ironsi abolished the regional system because he believed that the regions were not loyal to the Nigerian constitution. Gowon exacerbated the problem of the unitary state, but the fault lies with Aguiyi Ironsi's Decree 34 |

phorget: Even if he riggles his way to win in 2027 I'm sure by 2031 the whole saga will definitely be over. The lesson weve all learnt so far is that Yoruba's best candidate is indeed a failure compared to others. 67% of Tunibu support came from the North, less than 2 million Yoruba's voted for Tinubu. Tinubu has no support in the SW beyond his Lagos agbero's. |

Outtamymynd: What do you expect? These are people imposed on us by the whites. The colonial masters always do their best to ensure we have the weakest and most undeserving people in power as long as those people can be used as puppets to keep Nigeria perpetually dependent on them . The colonial masters specifically selected Gowon to rule Nigeria, it's a fact. They did everything they could to work against Jonathan because he wouldn't do all their bidding. They defended Tinubu in court even though it is clear he forged the Chicago certificate. I totally see why these failed presidents would feel at home especially in the UK. They have not failed their true masters The White man didn't impose Buhari, Tinubu, and Gowon on Nigerians. We did it ourselves. There was a street protest on the 1st of October, where Nigerians, playing the tribal card of the North, said they would take back Nigeria in 2027. Igbo will stay at home because the SW didn't support Peter Obi, and a Yoruba is president; hence, the SW should be patient. The poor quality of Nigeria's leadership reflects Nigeria's backward culture that has barely progressed beyond the middle-aged feudal society. The White cannot be held responsible for Nigeria's backwardness; a country that cannot generate profit from its abundant gas and oil is a country that doesn't deserve to exist. |

tundegan: I dont understand the problem people have with Tinubu going to UK for his leave. Is it not his right as a citizen to choose where to go for leave? Nigerians didn't force Tinubu to be president. He barely won 10 % of the electorate vote; hence, if he can't be patriotic and answer Nigeria's needs, then he should move on. He is presently doing a terrible job as president. |

Barrywilly: What's the business of Gov. Seyi Makinde with a federal university? That responsibility rests squarely on the Vice-Chancellor of UI, who should call the attention of the Minister of Education. The issue of flooding is a natural disaster no one forsee. It will be tackled. Natural disasters can be managed. Years ago, the local river in Ibadan broke its banks and flooded the state; the government invested millions in dredging the river and adding levies that have now reduced flooding. |

God1000: I think the state government is trying, nigerians have a very bad altitude of dumping refuse into drainages and other waterways thereby blocking the free flow of water Nigerians refuse to take ownership of the dirty behaviour. The people are the government. Clean your environment. Years ago, in the 1970s, the refuse collectors were on strike. The local street community in Surulere organised all residents to clean the gutters and burn the refuse. It's not always about government. |

From Sudan to Mauritania via (Chad, Niger, Northern Nigeria, B Faso and Mali ), the literacy rate is on average less than 30%; Islam, not democracy, is the national idealism. The Sahel nations were already disadvantaged due to lack of access to the sea, but adding Islamic extremist cultural values without restraint has doubled the problem.
