President Jonathan Is Our Mandela ~ Doyin Okupe (on AIT) December 6, 2013 DOYIN OKUPE: > "Nelson Mandela was a great leader, he lived his life for the people of South Africa. "I check through the history of Nigeria, among our past and present leaders, the only one we call our Mandela here in Nigeria is President Jonathan. There is no any President in Nigeria that has sacrifice 13 hours to discuss with ASUU." FELLOW NAIRALANDERS, Do you agree with Okupe that GEJ is the equivalent of Mandela here in Nigeria.? |

The Federal Government yesterday advised the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end its four-month old strike by rethinking its “take-it-or-leave-it approach to negotiation”.http://thenationonlineng.net/new/ASUU-distributing-pamphlets-abusing-mosques/ |

Today is the day it all starts, the greatest and largest conference on the planet, represented by all 196 countries in the world, with a unified uniform and rituals. This is not the Olympics, not the World Cup, but a much bigger competition, and for a much bigger trophy, and they're all chanting in one magnified voice.. Labbaik Allahumma labbaik... Here I am at Your service O Allah, here I am. Hajj- the journey of hearts... |
"Surely you (students) wont make it, the spirit is gone. I wish you failure. It is a determining strike. Definitely we have been letting ASUU strike, but this year they are not just striking, they must make an impact. The world will begin to know our educational deformities as a nation" |

Exactly 20 years ago in October 1993, I received the Best Writer and Researcher Award while serving as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Delta State. Impressed by some of my writings and research efforts, Governor Olorogun Felix Ibru consequently offered me automatic employment in the Government House, Asaba as Public Relations Officer in the state Civil Service. A few months later, another double award of automatic scholarship and NYSC National Honours Award was announced for me by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The honour by the Federal Government also went with an offer of automatic employment in the federal civil service that was not subject to either federal character principle or space availability. Since then I had found myself working in various organisations as either Press Secretary or Head of Public Relations as I continued to write official Press Releases and personal opinion articles. Some of those organisations include Federal Ministries of Information, Finance, Health, National Assembly, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), National Press Centre and finally National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Since April 2013 when I was recalled from NEMA due to the influence of Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who had earlier spoken to me on phone alleging that I accused her wrongly in one of my writings, I had made up my mind about the civil service that I had served diligently and professionally without allowing myself to be influenced or intimidated by anyone. In the course of these past months, my salary was suddenly stopped without any official notification to that effect. I had been summoned, issued letters of queries and confronted with verbal threats in the vain hope that I would retract the write-up and tender an apology. Of course, I stood my grounds in the same way that I had politely declined the minister’s request during the telephone conversation. Finally on Thursday October 3, 2013, I received a letter of retirement from the Federal Civil Service, which was backdated to June 20, 2013. Though the letter erroneously referred to me as Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) (because as of fact, I had been promoted a Chief Information Officer (CIO) with effect from January 1, 2012), it contained the charge that I was retired for criticising a public officer. After consultation with my family members, all of who believe that my life is more precious than political and administrative scheming, I accepted my disengagement from the civil service effective today (October 9, 2013) leaving my traducers in the ultimate court of the creator. I must extend my gratitude to the government of the state where I started my journey in the civil service and its people and to the Federal Government for finding me worthy to be a civil servant of the Federal Republic and allowing me to serve in various capacities in the last twenty years. I have received tremendous support and encouragement from editors of both mainstream media and publishers of online media across the country all of who also showed keen interest in the recent development. I will never be able to show enough gratitude to you all. I understand the weaknesses inherent in the public service but must express tremendous appreciation for the concern and understanding displayed by some officers in the public service and top members of the Federal Civil Service Commission. For personal reasons, I declined to accede to their friendly advice that I should take certain actions that might enable me keep my job in the service but which I believe would assail my conscience. Finally, I thank all my colleagues, friends and admirers who have been my pillars of support. I put my trust in God Almighty and rest assured in the solemn belief that Nigeria shall be great. I regret coming from Bayelsa State says Emmanuel, not because Bayelsa is bad as a state, but because the man (Goodluck Jonathan) who gives Nigerians so much pain and an unprecedented failure is from Bayelsa. It is no longer news that Nigerians are already waiting to cast their vote against President Jonathan in 2015 even in Bayelsa state where the president came from, i.e. if he eventually stand as a candidate at the poll. I can tell you authoritatively, any party that field Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 will lose woefully, as President Jonathan will be first person in the history of Nigeria to loose with such magnitude of votes despite being a sitting president irrespective of the rigging. This explains the reason why the ruling people democratic party (PDP) are currently working to ensure Jonathan never contests the 2015 election under their party, as a Goodluck candidature means a bad luck for the party. You can only rig where you are popular, but as for Goodluck Jonathan, he his only popular within the militants in Niger Delta region and Nigeria don’t want to share the militant votes with him. If you think I am mistaken, how come only militants speak for Goodluck Jonathan’s return in 2015? Have you seen any sane and reasonable person advocate for the return of Jonathan? Never, Only the militants living in the creek of the Niger delta like Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Edwin Clark and co that have been collecting oil contracts from the federal Government since the emergence of Goodluck Jonathan as president. Of course, they must try to protect their juicy contracts by issuing threat to anyone who tries to prevent them for further enjoying the dividends of their contracts, but trust them; they know what they are doing. As soon as another person promises them a more juicy contracts, all their threats becomes an act in our dear Nollywood movie. In addition, I read a threat report on the social media some days ago, were some militants in the Niger delta region were threatening secession should Goodluck Jonathan not come back in 2015, but I categorized such threat as a bear parlour threat. What can a militant not say when he his high on ogogoro? The threat issued by the militants and its source, like the many others before it actually confirms my earlier position that Goodluck Jonathan is only popular among the militants. No wonder, the militants said in their threat message that they will create their own country where Goodluck Jonathan will become their president and commander in chief. But I wonder, which country did they want to create again, the militancy is a country of its own, and the creek they leave is their abode, with Goodluck Jonathan as the commander in chief of the militants. This is not a new thing; because as it stands, we know Jonathan is a double president, the president of Nigeria and the commander in chief of the militants. Nobody in Nigeria want to be associate with failure, hence, nobody want to associate with the symbol of failure which Jonathan represents in his leadership of Nigeria except the militants who have themselves lost hope in life. Take it or leave it, no sane Nigerian will ask Jonathan to come back in 2015, no sane Nigerian will ever support him and no sane Nigerian cares weather he contests or not, what every Nigerian cares about at this moment is to get rid of Jonathan . Generally, If Jonathan excretes without cleaning up from the toilet, he will accuse the opposition for taking the tissue, if he eats without drinking water, he will accuse the opposition for making water unavailable, if he his cited in the militants creek, he will blame the opposition for not creating road to the airport and if he fails to honour the government agreement with ASUU after 4 years of patience, he will accuse ASUU for going on strike. It is worth to note that, Nigerians don't know who to vote for in 2015 yet, but they very certain and convinced of who not to vote for, and that is Goodluck Jonathan. What i keep wondering about is, how did Nigerians come to dislike this man who once sang a chorus of i have no shoe to them some years ago within this very short period? Right before my eyes, over 95% of the hard-core Jonathan supporters I know prior to his election in 2011 had suddenly turned to be the most hard-core anti-Jonathan, even beyond people like me who knew from the beginning that this Otuoke man will be a major disaster. However, Despite Jonathan’s massive and unprecedented failure which is self-evident and glaring beyond any sane and reasonable doubts, we still have some bad eggs, which prefer to hold unto falsehood and failure in the name of loyalty to one's tribe, ethnic group or religion. They try to justify every failure, though it is unjustifiable. My question is, why has virtually everyone in the 6 geo-political zones of Nigeria understands that president Goodluck Jonathan is the worst thing that could ever happen to any country, except the few Niger delta Militants and some few other individuals that are either benefiting directly from the government or are blinded by ethnicity and religion? Are these few pro Jonathan’s blind? Can’t they see that Jonathan represents a permanent poverty, permanent unemployment, permanent insecurity, permanent backwardness and as it was said, a permanent cluelessness for Nigeria? I don't want to believe they are blind to his massive unparalleled and unequal failure in the history of Nigeria, they just decided to follow the blind man until he falls into the pit. This is a president that gave Nigerians irrespective of their tribe, religion or locations more pain, more death, more hardship, more violation, more corruption, more lawlessness, more embarrassment, more disappointments, more cluelessness, more failure, more shame and most especially, more hopelessness. I know that to President Goodluck Jonathan and the Niger Delta militants, the 2015 election is a do or die affairs and a matter of life and death, but let me inform them, if they want to die, let them do it gentle, Nigerians will never return this failure called Jonathan in 2015. If they want to live, let us live together in peace, but if they want to die, they will do it alone. Let them continue to issue war threats and threaten to secede if they like, Nigeria shall get rid of their failure called Jonathan and we shall remain united in peace and unity. Some months ago while having a chat online, A friend of mine who happens to be from Bayelsa state said to me, I regret coming from Bayelsa State, not because Bayelsa is bad as a state, but because the man (Goodluck Jonathan) who give Nigerians so much pain and an unprecedented failure is from Bayelsa. I feel the pain of this gentleman because he spoke the mind of many young intelligent Bayelsans who understand the consequences of this bad precedent. Every reasonable Ijaw person should be concerned, because Jonathan is gradually destroying the future of the Ijaw by displaying the character of a betrayer and showing that the best the Ijaw can provide as a Nigerian leader is a disaster of the first order. ENOUGH OF THIS CLUELESSNESS, NIGERIA MUST CHANGE. |

Retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rabo Lawal was the former head of Aso Rock mobile police squad. He, along with Major Hamza Al-Mustapha and others, were arrested and detained over the alleged murder of late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, among other charges. Lawal regained his freedom about two years before Al-Mustapha. In this interview with Sunday Trust, he cautions Al-Mustapha, against fraternizing with the people that may want to use him for political motives reasons. Excerpt You have not publicly reacted to the release of your former boss, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha? Honestly, I have to say that I am very happy about the release of my boss, Mustapha, who has become a brother. Therefore, our relationship is not that of boss and subordinate. To say that I am happy with his release is an understatement because I know the tragedies we faced while in detention. This is why I am very happy, and have to thank Allah Who brought him out unhurt. We stayed together in Kirikiri. He was upstairs while I was downstairs. Before that, we were detained together at the police force headquarters in Area 10 (Abuja) where we were put in an underground cell with Mohammed Abacha. We have seen hell in that cell because of the horrible treatment we got. They detained us in that underground cell and denied us access to even sunlight or any form of light not to talk of having access to our families. They blocked everywhere that would allow us to access light and took away other suspects in the cell. We resorted to prayers, telling Allah that if we have committed any sin, He should forgive us. In fact, while in that cell we couldn’t even know the time of the day not to talk of understanding time for prayers. We were chained at both hands and legs, as such we urinated and passed stool at the spot we were staying. Nobody was coming to our help at that time even some of my friends in the police. We spent over one month in that condition. Therefore, the day we were transferred to Kirikiri in Lagos, it came to us as if we were taken to paradise, despite the nature of Kirikiri. Kirikiri became a better place for us than the experience in that underground cell at the force headquarters. Having gone through that experience, I have to be very happy with Mustapha’s release, because I would not even wish my enemy to have a taste of that experience. We were together with him in prison all those years until the time I was released. It is only in the public that I have not said anything, but I have personally visited him with my family both in Kano and in Abuja to congratulate him. I told you that Mustapha has become my brother. What was Al-Mustapha’s life style while in Kirikiri? Sincerely speaking, it is the people that are not close to Al-Mustapha that don’t understand him very well. Mustapha is somebody that is very religious, and continued the same way even in Kirikiri. If fact, if you hear what he did while in Kirikiri, you would be surprised. I know he engaged in humanitarian activities while in Kirikiri. Justice system of this country has really deteriorated and this was why Mustapha engaged in upsetting the fines of many suspects. I know when he was paying the fines of many prisoners who could not afford to pay. As a result of that many people regained their freedom. This is a part from building two Mosques in Kirikiri. Mustapha is somebody who is very free to people, even when we were in Villa. He respects everyone, including some of us who are his subordinates. After Al-Mustapha’s release, he engaged in paying homage to many people. However, the question that is baffling the minds of many, which makes such people to think that there is a hidden agenda behind Al-Mustapha’s release is his visit to some people that are regarded as ‘President Jonathan’s men’, Asari Dokubo especially. What is your take on that? Sincerely speaking, I wouldn’t know why Mustapha decided to visit such people. I also asked myself that question why he should visit people like Asari Dokubo. However, I know that while we were in detention many people including some traditional title holders expressed their concern. Somebody like Alhaji Mustapha Jokolo, the former emir of Gwandu, we would have nothing to say to him than to pray for Allah to continue to bless him. He really fought for our freedom. Therefore, my own understanding of Mustapha’s visit to such type of people, like Alhaji Jokolo, is a thank you visit. Mustapha had cordial relationship with many people when he was serving as late General Abacha’s aide. Nobody is querying his visit to emirs, former Head of States and other individuals, but his visit to people that are regarded as foot soldiers of President Jonathan? Honestly, I can’t say why he has decided to visit such people because I have not discussed with him. However, I know that we have discussed other issues that are related to such issues that you raised now. Therefore, honestly I don’t know his intention for visiting those people. As Al-Mustapha’s brother and friend, would you advise him to go into politics, especially in preparation for 2015? Wallahi (swearing with Allah), I would not advise him to do that. This is because it is Allah that makes his release possible. For this reason, he should rather remain silent and continue to live a silent life. A part from that, don’t forget he is still a military man. Therefore, he should avoid going into politics. Even if he is going to continue paying visits, it should only be a thank you visit. People can put one or two things together to interpret his movements. I know the consequences would not be good if Mustapha decides to go into politics. May be in the future after he retires from the Army, he can go into politics because it is a national service to become a leader and serve your country. What is your take on the appeal that was instituted by Lagos state government against Al-Mustapha’s release? Honestly, I am not happy with that decision. This is because all these things have been at the court and it is the court that released him. Therefore, Lagos state in their own wisdom should have decided to forgive even if they are aggrieved. Why I am even surprised with that decision of Lagos state is that when you convert the years he has spent in prison; we would be talking about life imprisonment. Even myself, I have served what is called life imprisonment because I have spent 13 years and seven month of normal calendar. Prison calendar is six months, therefore Al-Mustapha should have been talking of getting out of prison if he was sentenced for life imprisonment. Just take the issue of his family and other aspects of his life, there is no way he would regain what he has lost. I thought Lagos state government would sympathise with all the aforementioned and allow everything to end here. Before your arrest together with Al-Mustapha, you were a serving police officer, what is your status now? I was compulsorily retired from service by the police service commission. They retired me with my former rank of CSP, but they have paid me all my entitlements. Our thinking was that even if they would retire me, we thought that they would elevate me to a higher rank compared to where my colleagues are now. Despite that we give thanks to Allah because in my earlier life I have never thought that I will join the Nigerian police. We have to thank Allah because we are still alive after the horrible experiences of force headquarters’ underground cell and prison. Because of those experiences, when I was told that I was retired, I did not bother because the present IG really assisted me. He is just like an elder brother to me, and he has really assisted. How is life now after retirement? Honestly there are challenges. You know how life is. Somebody who is just out of prison; you know that person would find life difficult. However, I have to thank my wife who started a catering business during my detention. She is a professional caterer. I am involved in that restaurant business, if not for anything but to avoid being idle. Whatever it is, we thank Allah for everything. On a final note, do you have any other advice for Al-Mustapah? I am pleading that he should be very careful. There are some people that I know as hypocrites and they have now surrounded him. Those people were visiting us in prison and would come to tell some big people things that we have not said. It is on this note that I would once again advice him not to do anything that would not be in the interest of Nigeria and the North. This is my advice. For me, I have no grudges against anyone. Since my compulsory retirement, I have been praying for Allah to give me something better. |
The conversion to Islam of 25-year-old Charity Uzoechina, daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina of Redeem Christian Church of God, Kwankwashe, Suleja, continues to generate controversy. Her father accused the Estu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar, of hypnotizing his daughter, who has since changed her name to A’isha, to embrace Islam. A’isha, who hails from Asaba, Delta State, came to Abuja at the age of 10 when her father relocated from Lagos. After her secondary school education at Army Day Secondary School Asokoro, Abuja she got admission into Federal Polytechnic, Bida to read Public Administration. She, however, withdrew from the course in her first year. She embraced Islam on February 15, 2013. A’isha said since her family relocated to Suleja, Niger State, she has been in the midst of Muslims, which accorded her the opportunity to have several Muslims friends and learnt a lot about Islam. The travails of A’isha began when she ran to the Estu Nupe’s palace in Bida on March 1, this year to seek protection against any aggression she may face should her family know about her conversion to Islam. This led to a controversy that is still ongoing, with her father accusing the traditional ruler of kidnapping his daughter. Along the line, several meetings were organized between A’isha and her father Pastor Uzoechina and his daughter at the instance of the Estu Nupe, who also involved some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). But despite that, A’isha refused to follow her father, alleging that he has threatened to deal with her by taking her away to a place that she will not be able to practice her new religion. A’isha has taken the matter to a Shariah court in Bida and the court is expected to rule on August 1, 2013 whether or not the 25-year-old should be released to her parents or not. She speaks exclusively to Weekly Trust. Excerpts: Weekly Trust: What is your name? Aisha Uzoechina: I was formerly known as Charity Uzoechina and now A’isha Uzoechina. Why the change of name? I changed my name because I have accepted Islam. What brought you to Bida? I came to Bida in 2012 to read Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida. Are you still a student of Federal Polytechnic Bida? No, I am not. I have withdrawn from the school. Did you go back home? No, I did not go home. At the beginning I was planning to go back home, because I wanted to tell my father that I have converted to Islam. When I converted, I was afraid to tell my parents, because of the way my father would behave. I know he will not take it lightly with me. So, for that I refused to go back home. Did anybody force or enticed you to join Islam? I joined Islam on my own. Nobody enticed me with anything to join Islam. What informed your decision to join Islam? I converted to Islam because I love the character of Muslims, particularly the way they behave. You know Muslims believe in God. I have Muslim friends and I watch what they do, that enticed me to join Islam. I used to read Qur’an when I was a Christian. I always join them to read Qur’an and through that I found out that it is the same one God they worship. So I embraced Islam. How did your father come to know about your change of faith? When I ran to the palace, I told you, it was very difficult before I could see the Emir. When I saw him, the emir refused to accept me, because my father did not know about it. He, therefore, collected my father’s number from me and called him. The following day my father came and said he wanted to see me. When we met we talked one on one. What did you tell him? Well the emir told him that I have converted to Islam. When my father talked to me, he said let’s go home, but I refused. I told him that I will not change my faith, because I have already accepted Islam and this is where I want to stay. He, therefore, threatened me so much so that I became scared of him. What did he do to you amounting to a threat? In the first place you know, I put on Hijab (veil), he said I should remove the Hijab. He was angry and used some harsh words on me, directing that I should remove the Hijab, but I refused. He threatened to take me to a village where nobody will set his eyes on me. So I became scared of him, therefore I refused to follow him. That is it. Did the emir intervene? The emir gave him one week to come back, but he came back even before it reached one week. He said he must take me home. He will not take me to our house, but he’ll take me to somewhere that nobody will set his eyes on me. I quickly ran back to the emir and to the Shari’a Court for protection. I don’t want to go back to my father, because he is threatening me. How did you come to know about the Shari’a Court? I found out from people. I went to them on my own to formally lodge my complaint. Why Shari’a Court? They have to protect me. You know when you take a case to court over life threatening issue, the court must protect you. That is it. Did your father come back after you refused to follow him? He came back. He kept on coming back. The other time he even threatened to bring some people to kidnap me. Is it true that at a time your father came with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials to you? Yes. Is it true that you also went to the Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI)? Yes. Why did you go to JNI? I told you and I’ll still repeat it, though I don’t want to repeat my words again. I want them to intervene on my behalf, the threat is too much. Now I can’t go anywhere, I cannot even continue with my schooling. I cannot do anything because of the way he has been threatening me. He is still bringing people up till now to keep watch on me. How do you know that your father has assigned people to keep watch on you? There was a time that I wanted to go out, information came to me that my father was around and I had to stay back since I don’t want him to take me away. I know that if I gout anytime,I he’ll pick me up. How did you come to know about JNI? I have been reading about them. That is why I went to them. How did you present your case to JNI? I wrote to them seeking for their intervention, because I do not know how to go about convincing my father. I also learnt that the emir wanted to hand me over to my father, because the burden of my case is becoming too much for him to bear. If your father should promise to allow you to practice your new faith, will you go with him? I’ll not. In a family that you are the only Muslim, how can you practice in that house? You know when he (my father) came along with my mother the other time, his actions and the harsh words he used, even if I go back home, my life will not be secured in his hand. That is why I said I’ll not go. Did you start learning anything about Islam? Yes, I started learning how to perform ablution. I have learnt how to recite Surah Al-Fatihah, I am now in my second surah. Do you pray five times a day? Yes I do. I am even fasting now. I have been fasting since the beginning of the month of Ramadan. What is your massage to people wanting to join Islam? I have only one massage. Islam is good. Muslims are truthful, everything they say, they believe in God and they carry people along. Once a person converted to Islam, he’ll be carried along until he is strong to stand on his own. What is your appeal to your parent? I am appealing to my parents not to be angry with me. My conversion to Islam will not separate us. I still love them, even though I am here. They can come and visit me and I can also visit them. They shouldn’t think my new faith will take away the love I have for them. It will not. I am very sorry.

LETTER TO PRESIDENT JONATHAN, BY AL-MUSTAPHA Your Excellency, I bring you good tidings. I want to thank you for this generous gesture of yours which has made it possible for me to breathe the air of freedom again, and to reunite with my family, especially my wife Hafsat, who had dwelt in her own prison throughout my incarceration. I decided to write you this letter the very first day I learnt that you had made up your mind to set me free. That was weeks before my eventual release. I know some of my words will sound unpalatable; but I am a soldier in whose squadron flattery is hardly a virtue. Obviously, this freedom makes me happy indeed but your motive, at least the perceived it, tore my heart to shreds. I heard it is all about 2015, and not that I was unfairly incarcerated or that a court of competent jurisdiction had acquitted me. However, I maintain even now that I am innocent of the crimes I was accused of and condemned to death for. I am not the only one to rise from the dead. Your wife, Patience, also died and returned, remember? I am scandalized by the political undertone in the broth of my freedom. I was once the most powerful military officer in this country but now, from what I gather, you have reduced me to a pawn on the chessboard of politics? In the past, generals paid me compliments; but time changes everything. Mr President Sir, please permit me to call you by your pet-name Jona. I understand that everything you do these days has 2015 imprimatur, but bringing me into the realms of politics is not a wise idea. Let me refresh your memory a little, if you would let me. I was incarcerated in connection with the murder of Mrs Kudirat Abiola. Of course just as your popular picture as politician who is respected among his neighbours in Otuoke sticks on you like glue, my reputation as a daredevil and fearless intelligence officer precedes me. My creation, the Strike Force, is the deadliest Abuja, has ever known. Oh, I am so proud of its accomplishments. Strike Force made a snake in a garden shudder in fear during our time. Some even said that we had a crocodile pond into which we threw uncooperative people, usually NADECO members or stubborn journalists. But I can assure you no one has pointed out the pond since we left power. You see, I do not know how many books you have read Jona; but I have even memorised the Holy Qur’an. As a Muslim, it fortified my belief that in spite of the desire of those who wanted me dead, I would be free; may be not as quickly as I was discharged and acquitted but obviously anytime soon. Why did you release me Jona? Almost all of those who learnt of my release that fateful Friday morning hung my freedom on 2015. They say you are obsessed with it and that you would unchain the devil himself to realize your goal. But I am what the Americans call a goon, you know? I know nothing but soldiering. Forget my grandstanding at the Oputa Panel. It was military strategy. I knew in my military wisdom that a million SANs would not free me if I did not take my destiny in my own hands, with facts and warts. Lawless people don’t change overnight. Without any prejudice to the lawyers in this country, Jona, I can say without fear of contradiction that my tactics hit a chord, with and I believe that is why I am here. But mark you Jona, I Al Mustapha, have no political value in my region, the north, which you are trying to reach out to but which you have also offended in no small measure. Northerners will hardy forget how you ignored the Boko Haram insurgency until it got out of hand. Unofficial sources claim that close to 800,000 people, most of them northerners, lost their lives and property worth billions destroyed by the insurgents. The insurgency has resulted in northerners losing their positions in the armed forces; mediocrity now reigns. To me as a former Chief Security Officer, your initial inaction depicted a total loss of control. You were a lame duck, even in your first term. So what’s all this elaborate orchestration for 2015? But don’t mind my position, Jona. Time on death row has taken the winds off my brains. Never mind Yerima Ngama, your minister of state for finance, who told people that my sharp reasoning still amazes him. Ngama is not a psychiatrist. He probably never paid any attention to my behaviour while I marked time in Kirikiri. I had been confused. Sometimes, I greeted people with a clenched fist; while some other times, I smiled, like General Gowon does. At other times, I saluted in military fashion. You would have noticed too, Jona, that my choices since coming out are dangerously flawed. I greeted everyone in sight: TB Joshua, Fashehun, Otokoto, Ganiyu Adams and Tokyo, to mention a few of them. I make no distinction between the living and the dead, just like I have not adjusted to life outside prison. I even sought Abiola out only to learn that he is deceased. In that miasma, I paid first homage to the Kano Sate Government instead of my people in Yobe. It would have served me just as well if I had driven straight to Gashua and shook hands with Shekau! Mr President, I am saying all these because personally I know that where the north is concerned, I am a political paper tiger. Like Larry Hagman of the famous soap Dallas, I am the man that people love to hate. I lack the political value you ascribe to me, and if you released me to score a political point in my region, you have only taken a fool’s gambit. But I’m sorry; I can’t help your 2015 dream. Yours faithfully, Al-Mustapha. #DAILYTRUST |
Reminder that it is admirable (but not obligatory) to fast the 13th, 14th, and 15th days (the "white" days) of the month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Did you know that (Monday, April 23rd) is the 13th of the month in the lunar month of Jamadi-us-sani? So if you want, fast on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to reap that reward and gain some ajr in'sha'Allah! |
Nigeria’s political scene has recently, witnessed a flurry of accusations and counter-accusations between opposition parties and the Presidency as well as the ruling party – Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) with the latest accusation coming from the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which has alleged that the bombardier jet being used by National President of Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, was purchased by the Presidency. CPC’s national publicity secretary, Engr Rotimi Fashakin, in a statement yesterday said the offer was a reward for the pastor’s tough stance against the party’s presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari following the post-election violence of 2011. The press release which was titled ‘Jonathan Regime and the Politicisation of Nigeria’s Security,’ accused the Presidency of buying the jet which was later said to have been bought by members of Oritsejafor’s Word of Life Bible Church congregation in Warri, Delta State. “The post-election violence in April 2011 that disrupted the peace in some parts of Northern Nigeria was seen as a spontaneous reaction of the people to the subversion of their electoral rights. Pastor Ayodele Oritsejafor, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and President Jonathan’s side-kick, called a press conference and bizarrely demanded the arrest of General Muhammadu Buhari. “It did not matter that the fashionable cleric did not possess verifiable evidence to support his claim. This was seen as President Jonathan’s attempt at polarising the polity along religious lines in an iniquitous divide-and-rule scheme. “As a fitting reward for that execrable service and many others, Pastor Oritsejafor was rewarded on November 10, 2012 with the gift of a Bombardier private jet at a ceremony in which the President was physically present! We were later told the cleric’s congregation made the donation”, he said.

Islam is the only religion which teaches the existence of a PERFECT God. A perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes: "Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him." (Holy Qur'an, 112:1-4) There has appeared a man in Benoni. He is not qualified in theology, but is fondly cherishing the self-delusion that he is an apostle of Christ, appointed by God to convert Muslims to Christianity. Because he is a lawyer by profession, he is adept at juggling with words and quoting the Holy Qur'an totally out of context without knowing a word of Arabic. He wants Muslims to believe that Jesus was also a God, a belief that is abhorrent to us, because it is an antithesis of the Absolute perfection of Allah Subhaanahoo Wa Ta 'Aala! Thus intent upon reversing the process of Truth, which is: "And say: The Truth has come and falsehood vanished. Surely falsehood is ever bound to vanish." (Qur'an, 17:81). In this he will never succeed because the process of Truth is irreversible. TWO REASONS He has given two reasons to prove that Jesus is God, viz: (i) "When we say Jesus is deity (or even God for that matter), we do not make him the Father! He is one with the Father and therefore HE SHARES HIS NATURE", and (ii) "HE IS IN EVERY WAY LIKE THE FATHER but he is not the Father". In short, according to him, Jesus is God because He SHARES THE NATURE OF GOD, and HE IS IN EVERY WAY LIKE GOD. These two reasons given by him to prove the divinity of Jesus are so puerile that they speak volumes of his legal training. Numerous quotations from the Bible are given below to prove that Jesus neither SHARED THE NATURE OF GOD, nor is he IN EVERY WAY LIKE GOD. He can, therefore, NEVER be GOD. We have given the quotations from the Bible without comment, because the Bible speaks for itself! TO SAY THAT JESUS IS GOD OR SON OF GOD IS NOT ONLY A MOCKERY OF GODHOOD, BUT BLASPHEMY OF THE LOWEST ORDER AND AND INSULT TO THE INTELLIGENCE OF MEN! (Note: Unless otherwise stated, all quotations from the Bible are given from the Authorized Version. In our headings and subheadings we have referred to Jesus as "God" in inverted commas in order to show the ABSURDITY of the claim of this man that Jesus is God!) THE BIRTH OF "GOD" "God" was created from the seed of David: "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the SEED of David according to the flesh." (Romans, 1:3) "God" was the fruit of the loins of David: "Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne." (Acts, 2:30) The Ancestors of "God": "The generations of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." (Matthew, 1:1) The Sex of "God": "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus." (Luke, 2:21) How Mary Conceived and Delivered "God". Mary conceived Jesus like any other woman: "The days were accomplished that she should be delivered," (Luke, 2:6) which means that she went through all the normal stages of pregnancy. Nor was her delivery any different from other expectant mothers: "And she being with child cried, travelling in birth, and pained to be delivered." (Revelation, 12:2) "God" Sucked The Paps of a Woman: "And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked." (Luke, 11:27) The Country of Origin of "God": "Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king. (Matthew, 2:1) The Occupation of "God": "Jesus was a carpenter by trade." (Mark, 6:3), "and the son of a carpenter." (Matthew, 13:55) The Transport of "God": "Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass." (Matthew, 21:5) "And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon." (John, 12:14) The Wining and Dining of "God": "The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners." (Matthew, 11:9; Luke, 7:34) The Poverty of "God": "And Jesus saith unto him, the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head." (Matthew, 8:20) The Meagre Possessions of "God": "Shoes of Jesus" (Luke, 3:16), "Garments and coat of Jesus" (John, 19:23) "God" Was a Devout Jew: "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." (Mark, 1:35) "God" Was a Loyal Subject: Jesus was a good citizen, he was loyal to Caesar. He said: "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." (Matthew, 22:21) He paid his tax regularly. (Matthew, 17:24-27) THE FAMILY OF "GOD" "God" Was the Son of Joseph: "Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, we have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph" (John, 1:45) Brothers and Brothers-in-law of "God": "And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence hath this man all these things? (Matthew, 13:54-56) THE DEVELOPMENT OF "GOD" Spiritual Development of "God": "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom." (Luke, 2:40) Mental, Physical and Moral Development of "God": "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." (Luke, 2:52) "God" Was 12 Years Old When His Parents Took Him to Jerusalem: "Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast." (Luke, 2:41-42) The Powerless "God" (Jesus) said: "I can of mine own self do nothing." (John, 5:30) "God" Was Ignorant of the Time. Jesus said: "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." (Mark, 13:32) "God" Was Ignorant of the Season: "And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he (Jesus) was hungry: and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet." (Mark, 11:12-13) "God" Was Unlettered: "Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?" (John, 7:14-15) "God" Learnt Through Experience: "Learned he obedience by the things which he sufered." (Hebrews, 5: ![]() THE TEMPTING OF "GOD" The Devil Tempted "God" For 40 Days: "And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan." (Mark, 1:12-13) The Devil Tempted "God" Continuously: "And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season." (Luke, 4:13) Like the Sinners, "God" Was Tempted In All Things: "But (he) was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." (Hebrews, 4:15) True God Cannot be Tempted With Evil: "God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (James, 1:13) Only The Ungodly Are Tempted With Evil: "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." (James, 1:14) THE MISSION OF "GOD" The Confession and Repentance of "God": before the beginning of his public ministry: "Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist" (Matthew, 3:13), "which signified the confession of sins" (Matthew, 3:6), "and repentance from sins (Matthew, 3:11). "God" Did Not Come to Save the Sinners: "And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them." (Mark, 4:10-12) THE RACIAL "GOD" "God" Was a Tribal Jew: "The lion of the tribe of Juda." (Revelation, 5:5) "God" Came For The Jews Only: "But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matthew, 15:24) Racial Discrimination of "God": "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matthew, 10:5-6) According to "God", The Gentiles Are Dogs: "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs." (matthew, 15:26) The Kingdom of "God": And he (Jesus) shall reign over THE HOUSE OF JACOB for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke, 1:33) The Titles of "God": "The king of the Jews" (Matthew, 2:2), "The king of Israel" (John, 1:49; 12:13) A "GOD" UNLIKE THE GOD A Hungry "God": "And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered." (Matthew 4:2), "Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered." (Matthew, 21:18), "and on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry." (Mark, 11:12) A Thirsty "God": "(He) saith, I thirst." (John, 19:28) A Sleepy "God": "He was asleep." (Matthew, 8:24), "He fell asleep" (Luke, 8:23), "And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow." (Mark, 4:38) A Weary "God": Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well." (John, 4:6) A Groaning "God": "He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled." (John, 11:33), "Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave." (John, 11:38) A Weeping "God": "Jesus wept." (Luke, 22:43) THE WARRING "GOD" The Strong-Arm Method of "God": "And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought." (Luke, 19:45). "And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables." (John, 2:13-15) The "God" of War: Jesus said: "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." (Matthew, 10:34) The Sabre-Rattling "God": Jesus said: "And he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." (Luke, 22:36) The "GOD" ON THE RUN "God" Was Panic-Stricken: "After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him." (John, 7:1) "God" Walked in Fear of the Jews: "Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews." (John, 11:53-54) "God" Has Shown a Clean Pair of Heels: "Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand." (John, 10:39) "God" Fled in Disguise: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by." (John, 8:59) THE CAPTURE OF "GOD" A Friend Betrayed the Secret Hiding Place of "God": "And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus off-times resorted thither with his disciples. Judas then, having received a band of man and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons." (John, 18:2-3) "God" Was Arrested, Bound and Led Away: "Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, and led him away." (John, 18:12-13) "God" Was Humiliated: "And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face." (Luke, 22:63-64). "Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands." (Matthew, 26:67) "God" Was Defenseless: "One of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand", he said: "Why smitest thou me?" (John, 18:22-23) "God" Was Condemned to Death: "And they all condemned him to be guilty of death." (Mark, 14:64). "They answered and said, he is guilty of death." (Matthew, 26:66) The Dumb and Docile "God": "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth." (Acts, 8:32) THE SUPPOSED END OF "GOD" The Dying "God": "And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost." (Mark, 15:37) The "God" That Was Supposed Dead and Defunct: "Christ died." (Romans, 5:6). "He was dead". (John, 19:33) The Supposed Corpse of "God": "he (Joseph of Arimathaea) went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered." (Matthew, 27:58) The Shroud of "God": "And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth." (Matthew, 27:59) The Orbituary of The Late And Lamented "God": "Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, certainly this was a righteous man." (Luke, 23:47) EPILOGUE According to this self-appointed apostle of Christ, Jesus is God because: (i) "HE SHARED THE NATURE OF GOD", and (ii) because "IN EVERY WAY HE IS LIKE GOD". But according to the quotations of the Bible given above, we find that Jesus did neither SHARE THE NATURE OF GOD nor is he IN EVERY WAY LIKE GOD. He is, therefore, definitely NOT God! The onus to prove that Jesus is God now rests with this Christian. Either he must prove that Jesus is God, or he must admit that he is a polytheist, i.e., a believer in more than one God. WITH ALL THE TRICKS AND VERBAL LEGERDEMAIN OF HIS PROFESSION, HE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO PROVE THAT JESUS IS GOD!! He and his fellow-preachers in Christ, will never succeed in convincing the Muslims that Jesus was anything other than a natural man and a prophet of God, sent unto the house of Israel to bear the good news of the coming of the KINGDOM OF GOD, which prophecy was fulfilled with the advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)! |
Islam has always been victim of oppression from the west and christian, what i hate is when we turn blind eye to this oppression. |

perez019: @ op, an educative thread u av created. I wana learn what GIS is all about and its application in environmental studies.Nice one from you, depend on your area of interest or where you want to apply it, their are ICT firm that do train people on this. |
Fellow Nairalanders, want to hear your view about the above topic, is GEOGRAPHY becoming outdated in Nigeria universities? becasue some students this days even turn down admission if they are offer the course, and again students studying the course hardly get scholarship unlike their counterpert in Engineering and other science courses, pls what is your view and what did you think is wrong? |
Remote sensing and GIS are two things that are new in this part of the world, any analyst or someone who is ready to learn in the house, let us discuss and see how we can use this great tools to profer solution to various environmental problem facing Nigeria. |
"Inconvenient true", what a nice documentary, any body that is environmental conscious should watch it. |

There are times when the charm of mathematics lies in the surprising nature of its number system. There are not many words needed to demonstrate this charm. It is obvious from the patterns attained. Look, enjoy, and spread these amazing properties to your students. Let them appreciate the patterns and, if possible, try to look for an “explanation” for this. Most important is that the students can get an appreciation for the beauty in these number patterns. NB: denote multiplication sign 1 1 = 1 11 11 = 121 111 111 = 12321 1111 1111 = 1234321 11111 11111 = 123454321 111111 111111 = 12345654321 1111111 1111111 = 1234567654321 11111111 11111111 = 123456787654321 111111111 111111111 = 12345678987654321 The Beauty in Numbers 3 1 8 + 1 = 9 12 8 + 2 = 98 123 8 + 3 = 987 1234 8 + 4 = 9876 12345 8 + 5 = 98765 123456 8 + 6 = 987654 1234567 8 + 7 = 9876543 12345678 8 + 8 = 98765432 123456789 8 + 9 = 987654321 Notice (below) how various products of 76,923 yield numbers in the same order but with a different starting point. Here the first digit of the product goes to the end of the number to form the next product. Otherwise, the order of the digits is intact. 76923 1 = 076923 76923 10 = 769230 76923 9 = 692307 76923 12 = 923076 76923 3 = 230769 76923 4 = 307692 Notice (below) how various products of 76,923 yield different numbers from those above, yet again, in the same order but with a different starting point. Again, the first digit of the product goes to the end of the number to form the next product. Otherwise, the order of the digits is intact. 76923 2 = 153846 76923 7 = 538461 76923 5 = 384615 76923 11 = 846153 76923 6 = 461538 76923 8 = 615384 Another peculiar number is 142,857. When it is multiplied by the numbers 2 through 8, the results are astonishing. Consider the following products and describe the peculiarity. 4 Math Wonders |
Av not really evaluate that. |
Nairalanders i am in a serious problem and i did not know what to do, pls take dis thing serious and don't abuse or insult i need good and straight advice. who knows you might save a soul. I am ready to marry but I av three ladies in my life pls which one should i marry (1) She is not too educated, though she has her SSCE Certificate, she is into fashion designing and knitting, she has been supportive since my first year in the university, she paid my first registration fee, send money, clothe, gifts to me while in school all with the hope that when i graduate i will come down and marry her. But where the problem lie is that she do things in illiterate manner, but to be candid she has all other things i need in a woman. (2) We met while i was in my final year at the university, i serve as mercenaries for one of this rich guys in a neighboring department, during the exam the supervisors discover that i was not from that department, i was caught and ask to fill a malpractice form. i decline claiming that i am the guy, a committee was set to look into the case. that day i believe that all hope are lost then this girl (with physical deformity) came to my room and told me her father is the chairman of that committee that she can talk to him and every thing will be a thing of the past, if only i can agree to one condition which is i should marry her. luckily enough i was vindicated and graduated without any problem. she is now a graduate doing her NYSC. if not for her sake my work done over time take multiply by money spent would have been zero. (3) I met with this lady who happen to be the daughter of a well to do somebody after tremendous effort to get job after my service, i use to know a friend of hers so we became friend after one thing got into another and we start dating. she got me a good job through her father's connection and i believe any attempt to tell her that am not interested will lead to end of my job and another thing i hate about her is her pride nature. Pls which of this 3 ladies should i marry. |
