Some members of the outgone administration of President Goodluck Jonathan have said President Muhammad Buhari was out of order by dissolving the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), contending that, according to the “Petroleum Act,” the board stood dissolved the moment erstwhile Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, left office. Two members of Mr. Jonathan administration, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told SaharaReporters that there was no reason for President Buhari to send a letter to the board of the NNPC to dissolve. “That act [President Buhari’s dissolution of the NNPC board] is null since there was no board in place after the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, left office,” said one of the sources. Mrs. Alison-Madueke, who constituted the current NNPC board, officially lost her cabinet position on May 29, 2015 when former President Jonathan’s tenure ended. A second source, who served on the disbanded board, claimed that Mr. Jonathan’s administration left $5 billion in the kitty for the incoming Buhari government. He said the funds were yielded by dividends from Nigeria’s sales of liquefied natural gas. Last weekend, Babs Omotowa, the chief executive of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG), claimed that the company paid $1.6 billion in dividends to the Buhari government. However, one of the two sources who spoke to us claimed that said the amount was $5 billion. He added that President Buhari was either hiding the correct amount paid to his government in order to justify his claim of inheriting “an empty treasury” or that the NLNG was playing a game on Nigerians. The NLNG is a joint venture between the Nigerian government and multinational oil companies. quid:My question goes thus:is Atiku,Ribadu and President Buhari from SW this shows he is not tribalistic as you said. |
They say Tinubu is a greedy and over ambitious man, his first party ticket he gave it to Atiku, second one he gave it to Ribadu, third one he gave it to Buhari. Both Atiku and Ribadu later moved to PDP but Tinubu remained in opposition. Who is over ambitious? He strategized and survived in opposition for 16years when others were all jumping shamelessly from one party to the other, he gave Buhari the pedestal to attain his ambition but now he is labeled the number one enemy of Buhari by the same people that felt he can never be President. They all rush to pay OBJ allegiance forgetting he brought GEJ to power and brought him down but Tinubu brought Fashola and never brought him down despite perceived differences. Lest we forget, never bite the hands that fed you cos you might lick the boot that kicked you. Kudos Jagaban!!!

ziccoit:They've deliberated on something like that but they(the lawmaker) said most of them are chairman of an adhoc committee and they claim they cant be coming only for sitting and still head a committee coz they will be doing their own personal job if they are paid based on sitting and wont be possible to still head a committee that will brief the house report on their next sitting. |
Then some people wil be fighting for them not knowing all they are doing is for their own interest. This should be an eye opener to us youth. |
Two Christian missionaries, David and Michael, were lost in a scorching desert, dying of thirst and hunger when at last they saw a Mosque upfront. David said: “Michael, let’s pretend we are Muslims. Otherwise, we will not get any food or water and we will die. My name will be Ahmed. What will be your name?” Michael refused to change his name. When both of them reached the Mosque, the Imam received them well and asked their names. David: “My name is Ahmed.” Michael: “My name is Michael.” The Imam turned to his helpers and said: “Please bring food and water for Michael.” Then he turned to David and said:“Brother Ahmed, Ramadan Mubarak... IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL All praise is for Allah (SWT) Who ordered us to keep the ties of kinship intact and forbade us from being ungrateful. He further confirmed the right of a Muslim over another Muslim. The neighbour has a right over his neighbour even if he is not a Muslim or is a sinner. We praise Allah (SWT) and put our trust in Him. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah (SWT) alone having no partners with Him. He is the Creator who created everything other than Himself. May peace and prayers be upon our beloved Master Muhammad (SAW) who spoke the best of speech. May peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and his Companions who fulfilled all of the people’s rights required from them and upon every one that follows their guidance till the Day of Judgement. O servants of Allah! Know that the nieghbour’s rights are proven in many Verses of the Qur’an and Ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It was even said that the angel jibreel kept emphasising upon Muhammad (SAW) the importance of the neighbour’s rights until the Prophet (SAW) developed an impression that Jibreel was going to prescribe a share in the inheritance for the neighbour. No one harms his neighbour except an ill- mannered person who is wicked and evil. The Prophet (SAW) said: “By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah! Verily, he lost and failed. Who is he?” He said: “it is he whose neighbour does not feel safe from his Bawaa’iq.” They asked: “What is Bawaa’iq?” He said: “His evil.” (Agreed upon) The Arabs before and after Islam were proud of being kind to their neighbours. They even priced their houses according to how valuable their neighbour was. Furthermore, Islam has made it incumbent upon Muslims to be kind and benevolent to their neighbours, regardless of their neighbours’ religion. It was even ruled that the wicked person is he whom people avoid for his ill-manners, terrible behaviours and harmful actions. The most disgusting and revolting neighbours are those who search for people’s (and also their neighbour’s) faults and deficiencies. They would not mind looking into people’s privacy. Thus they cannot be entrusted with people’s lives, religion, money, or property. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his neighbour; he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.” (Agreed upon) He (SAW) also said: “The believer is he who the people feel safe with. The Muslim is he who the Muslims are protected from his tongue and hand. The emigrant is he who abandons evil. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, he will not enter paradise whose neighbour is not secure from his evil.” O Muslims! O Nigerians! It is really shameful to go to sleep with a full stomach while your neighbour is hungry. It is also shameful to always wear new clothes, yet be so stingy that you would not even give your neighbour your used clothes to cover his nudity. It is shameful to enjoy all the good things you have – food, clothes, perfume, and much more – while your neighbours long for bones and dry bread. Are you aware of what the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said regarding giving things away to your neighbours even if it were a little thing? He (SAW) said: “Certainly, a woman should not belittle what her neighbour gives her, even if it is a sheep’s intestines.” He (SAW) addressed Abu Dhar (RA) saying: “O Abu Dhar! When you cook, add more water (i.e. to make enough soup) and take care of your neighbours (by sending them some of it).” O Brothers in Islam! O Nigerians! Your neighbour has rights upon you, which you must fulfill! These rights are easy to fulfill; I shall mention them as a reminder to me and you. When you meet with him (your neighbour) or run into him accidentally, you should greet him by saying Assalamu Alaikum. When he falls sick, you should visit him. When he dies, you should attend his funeral and look after his children after his death as if it were their father looking after them. You must stand by him in happiness, in grief, in hardship and ease. The Prophet (SAW) said: “The best of companions with Allah is the one who is good to his companion, and the best of neighbour with Allah is the one who is good to his neighbour.” O Muslims! It is prohibited for you to peek into your neighbour’s house, especially while he is not paying attention. It is prohibited for you to cheat him (by having relations) with his wife or his daughter. You should know that he who looks into his neighbour’s house without his permission, would have his eyes filled from Hellfire. It is forbidden upon you to try to listen to what your neighbour says in his house like spies do, which would make him insecure with you being his neighbour and never trust you with what he says or does. If you are not able to be good and kind with your neighbour or acknowledge his favour upon you, then do not harm him and keep your evil away from him. Let him relax in his home and visit him when he invites you. When he consults you, advise him sincerely. If he is oppressed, give him your help, support and defense. Yet if he is the oppressor, help him by stopping him from oppression. If he does well, hail and compliment him and if he does wrong, pardon him. If he corrupts, do not approve of his corruption and remember that on Judgment Day many will be grabbing their neighbours, each one saying: “O Lord! This is my neighbour who closed his door in my face and deprived me of his good advice while witnessing my evil.” “A man asked the Prophet (SAW) about a woman who made many prayers and fasted much. Yet she would hurt her neighbours. The Prophet (SAW) answered: She is in the fire of Hell. The man asked again about another woman who only did her obligations in terms of praying and fasting, yet she gave charity with big pieces of Aqit (yoghurt or cheese) and never harmed her neighbours. The Prophet said: ‘She is in Paradise.” The Prophet (SAW) also said: “Four are from happiness: a good wife, a spacious residence, a good neighbour and a comfortable vehicle. And four are from misery: a bad neighbour, a bad wife, a bad vehicle and a small (stifling) residence.” Allah (SWT) likes the neighbour who is patient upon his neighbour’s harms until one day Allah (SWT) will help him, either by moving him away from that neighbour or by that neighbour’s death. It is idiocy and stupidity for people to file complaints with the authorities against their neighbours for the bickering and quarrels that occur among the women or children. The prophet (SAW) also forbade building walls or raising the houses so high that such would cause harm for the neighbour and might block the wind from reaching the neighbour’s property or expose of the neighbour’s privacy. The prophet (SAW) used to say: “O Allah, I seek refuge with you from the bad neighbour in a permanent residence, as the neighbour in the nomadic residence is always moving (i.e., he does not stay in one place).” The prophet (SAW) said: “Beware of the prohibitions then you are the best of worshippers. Be satisfied with which Allah has given you, then you are the richest of people. Be kind to your neighbour, and then you are a believer. Love for the people what you love for yourself, and then you are a Muslim. And do not laugh too much, for laughing too much kills the heart.” Some people do not care about others if they themselves are comfortable. They would not mind if all the people were annoyed by them and angry with them. They would not mind even if their reputation was hurt so long as they satisfy their lusts and joys. Their lusts and desires are fulfilled and their needs are met, so it does not matter if all these were satisfied at the expense of their honour, dignity, or reputation. For that reason, these people are despised by others, hated by their neighbours and have a disgusting reputation among their peers. The prophet (SAW) said: “If you feel no shame, then do whatever you wish.” He (SAW) also said: “Allah has divided your manners among you as he has divided your provisions. Verily Allah gives (the pleasures of this) life to whom He loves and whom He does not. Yet, He does not give the faith except to whom He loves. He who is given the faith, verily Allah has loved him. By Him in whose Hand is my soul, a person does not become a Muslim until his heart and tongue submit and surrender (to Allah), and does not believe until his neighbour is safe from his evil.” Allah (SWT) says: “Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship); and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, Al-Masaakin (the poor), the neighbour who is near of kin, the neighbour who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and those (slaves) whom your right hands possess. Verily, Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful.” (4:36) Servants of Allah! I remind you and myself of the way of Allah’s Messenger (SAW) in the Month of Sha’aban. Sha’aban is the eight month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is called so because in this month the Arabs used to disperse (tasha’aba) in search of water, or it was said that it is so called because it Sha’aba (branches out or emerges) i.e., it appears between the months of Rajab and Ramadan. The month of Sha’aban falls between two sacred months, Rajab and Ramadan. Allah’s Messenger (SAW) used to spend most part of it by fasting. Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullah) reports in his Sahih that Aisha (RA) said: “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and he would not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha’aban.” (Bukhari) And when Allah’s Messenger (SAW) was asked, why he fasted so abundantly in the Month of Sha’aban? He (SAW) said: “(Sha’aban) is a Month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a Month in which deeds are lifted up to the Lord of the worlds (Allah). I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am fasting.” (An-Nasaa’i, see also Sahih al- Targheeb wat-Tarheeb, p. 425) Servants of Allah! Let us emulate and imitate the Allah’s Messenger in this blessed Month of Sha’aban by fasting much in it and start the preparation for the coming of the great Month of Ramadan. Oh Allah allows us to Witness Ramadan alive, wishing you Ramadan Mubaarak in advance and your loved ones. Let us be aware of these blessed times in our times of need – let us pay attention to that which is neglected and make our Sha’aban and Ramadan our sources of salvation. O Allah! Bless us abundantly in Sha’aban and deliver us safely unto Ramadan, ameen. May Allah make you and I among the best of His creatures, and May He bless us all with the good favours and provisions that he bestows upon us. May He protect you and me from harming the neighbour and from ignoring his rights upon us, because neighbourhood is trust so we must respect our neighbours even if they are not Muslims. Ramadan Mubaraq. |

The campaign organisation of the 8th Assembly Speaker hopeful, Femi Gbajabiamila, has denied that supporters of Yakub Dogara, his contender, were not aware of the mock election organised by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday. Mr. Dogara, through his group, had accused the APC leadership of fraud in the process of organising the mock election and attempting to foist Mr. Gbajabiamila on the legislators-elect, thereby allowing “the number four citizen of this country to be pocketed by one selfish and greedy individual”. However, Mr. Gbajabiamila’s speakership campaign organisation on Monday, said though no group loyal to the contenders were placed on notice before the election, a newspaper publication showed the Consolidation group were aware of the mock election. Mr. Gbajabiamila had also previously denied he is contesting the speakership position to further the political interest of Bola Tinubu, believed to be the one referred to as “selfish and greedy individual” by the Consolidation group. The campaign organisation said “Just as the party said earlier before the election, no group loyal to any of the aspirants were placed on notice. It is important to note that in a publication made in the National dailies on Thursday, June 4, 2015, two days before the mock election, Hon Zakari Mohammed, Hon Aishat Dukku, Hon Jagaba Adams Jagaba, Hon Haliru Jika, Hon Nasiru Baballe Ila, and others in the public statement emphasized clearly their views on the conduct of the Saturday mock election. “The publication is here for your attention. Definitely, they could not have made comments on an exercise they were not aware of. It is unfortunate that some members sought for intervention of the party before their election into the national assembly but suddenly realised that the unbiased intervention of the party in the mock election is inappropriate,” the statement read. “In furtherance to the genuine aspiration of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, it is appropriate for us to be magnanimous in victory and extend our hand of fellowship to the sixteen of our colleagues who purportedly left the venue as a result of their claim of unpreparedness for the mock election. We are indeed grateful that some of them voluntarily returned back to the hall to be part of the successful election,” the statement added. Mr. Gbajabiamila’s campaign organisation said he had received support from other parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party, whose block support is expected to determine who the eventual winner on Tuesday. Mr. Dogara needs a united support from the PDP representatives to clinch the speakership position, since majority of the APC representatives have publicly pledged support for his counterpart, Mr. Gbajabiamila, who just needs around 25 to 40 opposition representatives to secure the position. Continuing, Mr. Gbajabiamila said, “Had Hon. Dogara won the mock election we would have all queued behind him now but as a mark of discipline and respect for the party we are all behind Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. “We have reached out to our friends in other political parties and we are thankful by their popular response. We also agree that the next speaker of the 8th House of Representatives would emerge on the floor of the house on Tuesday and definitely members across party lines would place merit first because this is the era of change we have been waiting for,” the statement read. |
Faced with a looming crisis in securing the selection of its favored candidates for leadership posts at the Senate and House of Representatives, officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are weighing measures to force the incoming class of National Assembly members to postpone their convening beyond Wednesday. According to a senior party source, the postponement “is to enable President [Muhammadu] Buhari [to] rein in rebellious lawmakers within the ranks of our party.” Mr. Buhari is expected back in Abuja on Thursday night after attending the ongoing G7 meeting in Germany. Some APC lawmakers led by for former Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State have reportedly reached an alliance with People’s Democratic Party lawmakers overnight to present a PDP candidate as President of the Senate. Immediate past Senate President, David Mark, was named as the likely beneficiary of Mr. Saraki’s revolt. Former Governor Saraki is reportedly irate that he was schemed out of the APC’s nomination for the Senate Presidency. Last Saturday, the party bypassed the former governor amid concerns that he could not be totally relied upon to lead an effective and cooperative Senate that would give President Buhari reliable legislative backing. Instead, the APC adopted Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan from Nigeria’s northeast state of Yobe as its candidate for the Senate Presidency. SaharaReporters learnt that President Buhari had expressed serious concerns to some associates that a Nigerian Senate led by Mr. Saraki would not lend him the necessary legislative backing to wage a major war against corruption. Mr. Saraki carries a lot of corruption baggage, dating back to his days as an executive of the defunct Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria, and continuing with his tenure as Kwara State governor. SaharaReporters also learned that another group of lawmakers in the House of Representatives were also upset with the APC’s choice of Lagos legislator, Femi Gbajabiamila, as the party’s sole candidate for Speaker. Yakubu Dogara, an aspirant for the speakership who hails from Bauchi State, leads the disaffected legislators opposed to Mr. Gbajabiamila. An APC executive told SaharaReporters that some party leaders consider Mr. Saraki as the wrecking ball who must be subdued to ensure that the party does not lose the leadership of the Senate. In the midst of the internal squabble within the APC, SaharaReporters learnt that former Senate President David Mark has been mobilizing disgruntled APC senators to back him for a third term in the premier post at the Senate. Another source disclosed that several PDP senators were demanding outrageous sums of money from APC leaders in exchange for casting their votes for candidates favored by the party. |
The immediate past deputy governor of Rivers State, Tele Ikuru, has accused his former boss and state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, of maltreating him despite his contributions to the government. Mr. Ikuru, who quit the ruling All Progressives Congress in Rivers State at the twilight of the administration, said Mr. Amaechi denied him parting gifts and money when the government finally came to a close in May. He said this happened despite his contributions to the state, part of which was returning state funds and saving an estimated N100 billion for the state. Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service at St. Simons Anglican Church, Ikuru-Town in Andoni Local Government Area, Sunday, Mr. Ikuru said the thanksgiving service was to thank God for his grace and faithfulness to him, his family, and friends during the eight years of service to the state. “I served this government for seven years and seven months under Amaechi, because I was with Omehia for 5 months,” Mr. Ikuru said. “At the end of the seven years and seven months Amaechi did not think that I deserved any parting gift in spite of the fact that in the course of this administration, by reason of the office I occupied, I returned several monies to him valued over two billion Naira cash at different times during one work or the other.” In March, Mr. Ikuru stunned Mr. Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State when he defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party six days to the general elections. Announcing his defection at the time, Mr. Ikuru had described the APC in the state as a party of rebels, insurgents, and anarchists clothed in robes of pretence and deceit. “Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony,” he had said. “The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC.” On Sunday, Mr. Ikuru stated that his contribution to Mr. Amaechi’s administration saved Rivers State “not less than a hundred billion Naira” over the period. “At the end of the seven years and seven months, my boss left me hard and dry, nothing and no penny to go home with,” he added. Mr. Ikuru gave glory to God for all that happened, saying that he had never expected reward from man his entire life, rather he always looked up to God and that with the thanksgiving, he was sure that God will remember him. In his address, Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor, described Mr. Ikuru as a wonderful servant to the state, pointing out that he finished very strong in view of his outstanding legacies. Mr. Wike, who was represented by Kenneth Kobani, the Secretary to the State Government, noted that Mr. Ikuru’s track record singled him out to head the transition committee that ushered in the present government. “His Excellency has asked me to join you in this thanksgiving service, and to say our brother Tele Ikuru had been a wonderful servant to Rivers State,” Mr. Kobani said. “He served the state meritoriously and finished very strong. That is why at the time we needed someone to midwife the transition government, we did not have to look anywhere else, but to look at Tele Ikuru to lead us.” Also speaking, the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, lauded Mr. Ikuru for his humble and peaceful disposition which he noted stemmed from his upbringing from a humble family. Earlier in his sermon, the Curate of the church, Reverend Silas Ikut, who spoke on the topic “Standing on the Existing Protocol”, urged everyone to follow God’s protocol which he noted had been established to bring about peace and good governance in the state.
