Unfortunately many relationships don't last. They start off amazing, but then something happens that causes discord and friction in the relationship. Knowing why relationships fail is just as important as knowing why relationships succeed.

There are few key reasons that many relationships fail. Of course these are not the only reasons, but they are definitely the reasons that need to be considered.

■ Lack of trust:

Without trust in a relationship it is doomed to fail. Trust is one of those things that is hard to gain but easy to lose. Once trust is lost it opens the door for feelings of inferiority, heated arguments, self-doubt and loss of respect for the individual and for the relationship. It is important for couples to learn how to work on any trust issues, and the earlier the better. When trust is present in a relationship it can prove extremely beneficial for the couple in a phenomenal way.

■ Not knowing how to survive difficult times:

Every couple faces a crisis at one time or another. A crisis can be anything that is a "relationship storm." It is extremely important for couples to know how to persevere through rough times. And that means having a perseverance plan before the storms hit, not once they hit. Couples must focus on what is holding them together and be committed to focusing on that and not the storm.
