After the public outcry over the alleged return of 48 Houses to him.
This govt is a huge joke. They obviously tested the reaction of the masses with the announcement of the return of his houses and having sensed the anger in the land, they've decided to play this card.
It shall never be well with them. |

Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa state, has retrieved 48 of his property which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. According to PUNCH, some of the property are located in Wuse II and Maitama, highbrow areas of Abuja. Back then, the commission had slammed 50 charges against the ex-governor and arraigned him before three federal high courts in Abuja. Sylva, who contested the 2015 governorship election in Bayelsa, had accused the anti-graft agency of witch-hunt and political persecution. The case was subsequently struck out. A PUNCH correspondent, who visited some of the houses, observed that the inscription ‘EFCC, Keep Off’, on the gates or fences of the property, had been wiped off the buildings while some had been rented out. The correspondent, who posed as a prospective tenant, was informed that the rent for the property ranged between N2.5m and N6m per annum. Sixteen units of service apartments at Plot 1181 Thaba Tseka Crescent, off IBB Way in the Wuse II area of the federal capital territory (FCT), cost N6m per annum including a N1.5m service charge. The building provides seven hours of power supply from a generator. One wing had been painted while the other was under reconstruction. “When the EFCC sealed off this property, it was rotting away. However, it was re-opened a few months ago so we started to refurbish the property. We have repainted the property and we have started renting the apartments out,” a guard at the property was quoted to have said. At a block of flats, which comprises nine units (six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom flats) located at 8, Sefadu Street, Wuse, Zone 2, PUNCH was told that the rent ranged from N1.5m to N3m. “Immediately the EFCC inscriptions were erased, all the flats were taken. There is no vacant apartment now,” the security guard said. At a property located at 8 Mistrata Street, Wuse II, Abuja, it was observed that the property was a hotel, which charged between N25,000 and N45,000 per room. TheCable’s efforts to reach Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC’s spokesman, for the reaction of the commission did not yield the desired result as of the time this report was filed. His telephone line was out of reach, but a text message was sent. https://www.thecable.ng/efcc-returns-sylvas-48-houses-seized-jonathan

MayorofLagos: My point is counter to a faldehood you presented as facts from 1914 showing palm oil as a income earner. Palm oil is not synonymous with East the way Cocoa is synonymous with West or Groundnut with North.
You can feed bs to fellow Ibos, we know you all dont question issues...but when you are in a forum with Yorubas please think it over before posting bs, we question things. You are beating about the bush. How can u claim cocoa for the West when Cross River state in the eastern region us the second highest cocoa producing state in the country? Stop vomiting gibberish all in the name of posting comments. No western state comes close to first 5 in palm oil production and yet u claim palm oil production is glory for also producing palm oil while denying He eastern region same for cocoa even though the second highest cocoa producing state in Nigeria is an Eastern state. |

MayorofLagos: It is not the ranking..the fact is it exists in all the forest belts. Cocoa on the other hand was only in West, nowhere else.
Thats what Elder Clark is telling you...that Zik had his priorities wrong just as your leaders today who are pumping money into Kano, Abuja and Lagos and leaving East to rot. And Cross River state is where? |

MayorofLagos: What facts are you talking about? I think you are confused.
Cocoa is limited to Western Nigeria. Palm Oil is obtainable everywhere in the Southern forests, from Ondo all the way along the forest belt to Ogoja. Palm oil produce is harvested in all these forests. The table you produced does not support your argument for fact because it does not itemize the produce by region in which it is produced.
Moreover, you completely misunderstood Clark. Baba Clark is talking about indigenous leadership and development, removed from Colonial legacy.
He kept talking about what Awolowo did and Ahmadu Bello did and Zik did not do......he never subscribed to what Britain left or did.
Get some sense..... Keep deluding yourself. Cross River state is the second largest producer in Nigeria in case you don't know. While Zik fought for national interests, the other two fought for regional interests. |
Politics › Re: Clark Spills The Beans On What Each Region Contributed To Nigeria. by sunnyb0b0(m): 3:16am On Oct 02, 2016 |
MayorofLagos: Today, many Nigerians regard oil money as a curse so people are now talking about agriculture, solid mineral and so forth. But the earlier these things are developed, the better it would be for Nigeria so that the pressure on certain areas in this country would be minimized because in the past only Niger Delta produced oil and everybody was grateful.
I remember in 1956 when oil was discovered, the Prime Minister congratulated the Premier of Eastern Nigeria for joining the club economically. This is because at that time there was true federalism in the country.
Today we have 36 states built from nowhere. In the constitution of Nigeria the creation of new states depended on a number of criteria but each administration that assumed office in Nigeria believed that was an opportunity to create states for their own people so they created all sorts of states that are not viable with many local governments. For instance Lagos state is supposed to have the largest population in Nigeria and it has only 18 or 20 local government councils whereas Kano and Jigawa put together have almost 50 local government councils. Everybody depends upon the oil resources in the country. The constitution provides that for a state to exist, you must have a number of local government councils. But Bayelsa state was created with only 8 local government councils whereas Bayelsa state, I believe should have had 15 or 20 local government councils to qualify as a state. When you have a powerful ruler, you have more local government councils, then you have more states created in your area.
But as I said earlier on, in the first republic there were three regions; Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was in charge of Eastern Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the Western Nigeria and Ahmadu Bello for Northern Nigeria. They created this federation and they said everyone must be equal. No citizen of one region was superior to the other. I believe each region should be developed at its own pace. The development of one region shouldn’t prevent the other one from going ahead.
So you can see why Western Nigeria was self governing earlier before the other regions.
Awolowo was able to develop the Western Nigeria; in 1958 the first primary school in Nigeria was free in the Western Nigeria but both Eastern and Northern Nigeria couldn’t do it. The tallest building in Nigeria which is the Cocoa house was built in Ibadan. There was Ikeja industrial estate, Apapa industrial estate, there was Lagos, there was Ibadan stadium there were good roads.
And could you imagine that even though Midwest region was created later which was part of Western Nigeria, the television which was brought in 1958 or 1959 wasn’t extended to the Midwest region simply because they said it didn’t contribute to the economy of Western Nigeria in the sharing of the assets. When Midwest was created even up till the time I was commissioner for finance, the Western Nigeria refused to share the assets and liabilities as provided in the constitution. Today the assets and liabilities of the whole Western region were shared amongst the six Yoruba states of Western Nigeria.
The Odua Investment Company is the largest state owned company in Nigeria today. Ahmadu Bello developed the Kaduna capital territory, the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kano industrial centre, and Ahmadu Bello University. But what did the Eastern region do? They had no money. There was no money coming from the palm oil so they were not able to do many of these things.

Politics › Sex For Food Rocks IDPs Camps, Female IDPs Offer Camp Officials Sex – NOI Polls by sunnyb0b0(op): 5:56am On Sep 26, 2016 |
Given the living condition of Internally Displaced Person’s (IDPS’s) in the North East, there is an indication that about 66 percent of camp officials, 28 percent from host communities and 6 percent of elders are sexually molesting the vulnerable ones, a situational
Assessment survey on IDP’s in North-East conducted by NOI Polls has revealed.
NOIPolls, incorporated in 2007 has been in the forefront of championing public opinion research in Nigeria and across the West African sub-region in technical partnership with Gallup (USA).
Among startling revelations from the report is that some of the female IDPs voluntarily offer camp officials sex for food and for freedom of movement within and outside the camps just as others offer themselves for basic female sanitary requirements.
The major aim of the survey was to highlight the controversies surrounding the general welfare of IDP’s in the North-East. It was conducted between July 4th to July 29th, 2016 where a total of 400 contacts attempted the questions.
A breakdown of the report indicated that 190 respondents were drawn from Borno, 128 in Adamawa and 82 in Yobe states.
The respondents were aged between 18 years and above while the face-to-face survey technique enabled NOIPolls to capture the reality of the IDPs.
According to the findings, “Though the provision of firewood is the responsibility of local government areas and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) as stipulated in the Memorandum of
Understanding signed between federal government and state government, thousands of IDP’s including lactating mothers, children and elderly starve due to the absence of firewood.
The survey however revealed increase in social vices at the camps like drug abuse, consumption of illicit drugs, prostitution and petty crime as a result of the general poor welfare and deplorable living conditions of the IDPs.
“There are also rising cases of unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV/AIDs while some IDP’s had fallen prey to unscrupulous members of host communities who take advantage of their plight to force them into early marriages and even kidnap them for child labour”, the report added.
The report highlighted that 85 percent of IDPs in Adamawa and 84 percent in Yobe are facing incidences of discrimination compared to 76 percent in Borno which was linked to ethnic problems that had existed between the northern and southern Borno natives.
Presenting the survey, the Chief Executive Officer of NOIPolls, Dr Bell Ihua confirmed that only 10 to 20 percent of IDP’s lived in camps while 80 to 90 percent lived in host communities stressing that petty crimes and drug abuse were also on the increase at the camps.
Ihua regretted the rising cases of mortality, which he said that 88 percent IDP’s died on daily basis as was witnessed during the survey adding that there was a cholera outbreak in the camps.
He requested for unannounced presidential visit by Muhammadu Buhari to Maiduguri as a way of boosting the morals of security agencies fighting insurgency in the area even as he advocated for increased funding for the IDP’s.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Civil Society Organisation Network, Borno state, Amb Ahmed Shehu expressed worry over the increasing cases of prostitution at the camps which may result to HIV/ AIDS and other infectious diseases.
“In camps and host communities, women need cash-based assistance to establish livelihoods such as tailoring, processing and selling flour or groundnut oil, milk and among others”, he said.
On his part, the Director of Forefront Media, Mr Mohammed Alfa who is a native of Gwoza called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) to visit Borno state and access the financial impropriety of Borno government towards the starving IDP’s http://leadership.ng/news/551913/female-idps-offer-camp-officials-sex-for-food-report
