omapere: Hi everyone, I submitted a Join spouse visa application in March. I plan to withdraw that in October if I don't get a response from them by then and apply for a study visa. I'd like to know if anyone here has done something like this and what are the chances that the study visa will be approved?
Thank you so much Hey, I have thought of doing the same too. And I have asked around. No one was able to give any assurance of what the outcome would be. You never really know with this embassy. |

Blueberry111112: Yeah for me, over 40k. Hmmm… thanks for the response. I hope that others trying to apply for a join family visa will find this thread. There’s a lot that wasn’t stated in the guidance document that we are having to find out now after putting in the application. |

ivy500: My husband’s salary is over 40k. We got married 2 years before his relocation to Ireland and we have two children together. I don’t know if that counts as an advantage for approval because I didn’t go overboard for my application package. I didn’t include wedding photos or any other evidence of our family aside our marriage certificate and my kids birth certificate. Thanks for the response. Oh I see now. I think they’re a lot tougher on people that were already here before going back home to get married. And I’ve also heard that once children are involved there is a slim chance of getting rejected. May God help the rest of us. |

ivy500: I submitted my application September 1st 2021 and I got my approval today. Congratulations to you. After almost a year I’m glad it turned out great for you. Also I remember someone here mentioning salary ranges for people that have gotten approvals on critical skills. If it is not too much to ask, can you and @blueberry111 confirm that your salary was over 40k. Because I am hearing that people earning in the range of 32-40k are being denied. |

One year and 8months for Gods sake? What’s wrong with these people This is insane at this point. Did you guys use a lawyer for your application or appeal? This means that we that appealed this year have no hopes whatsoever. Nawa o |

Tpurple: Hello Sunshineandrain, I just tried sending you a mail. I'm new here,so I don't know if I did it right.
Our solicitor didn't really give us a time frame but we contacted them last week and they bluntly told us that we might not get a response before I put to bed.
The process is really overwhelming!! I truly empathize with you. Don’t worry all will be well just try and stay calm. I have responded to your email. |

Hi Tpurple, I’m so sorry to hear about your situation and congratulations too. I can’t even imagine how tough this must be on you. My case is slightly similar, visa was refused in December, appealed the decision in February, haven’t heard anything back since then. I know of someone else that has appealed over a year now and they have not heard anything back (the couple later decided to move on to another country). Did your solicitor advice you on a timeline when you may be hearing back? You can send me an email if you’d like to chat privately. This is really tough times for a lot of us in this situation, i hope we all find the strength to keep pushing through and try to just live life the best way we can. Tpurple: Hi guys, thanks to the person that created this platform. My husband has lived in Ireland for years with a residency permit. We got married in February 2021. I applied in July 2021 for a JF visa and got a refusal in February 2022 , the same day my husband arrived in Nigeria for our wedding anniversary. Omg! We were devastated, we never believed we could get a refusal after 7 whole months! My husband encouraged me to appeal, I didn't want to because the reason for our refusal was endless, like we never submitted any documents alongside our application. Anyway, we later got a solicitor in Dublin who assured us that our case is genuine and charged us around 650,000naira and my husband returned in March. To cut the story short, our solicitor sent the appeal letter and documents in April and uptill now we haven't heard anything. The sad or Happy part of it is that I'm almost 5months gone (pregnant) with no hope of reuniting with my husband soon. Can someone help us? I'm really getting frustrated. My fear is that if I give birth in Nigeria and I later get a visa, I might have to wait for God knows when to get a visa for my child aswell. Please help us. |

lanrayx: Did they give a good reason for refusing the application, that you are able to share? Or PM I am on a CSEP and my wife has applied to join me. Seeing your post gave me the chills Yes, they gave a number of reasons as to why they refused the visa. A lot of which didn’t make sense because we fulfilled all the criteria and requirements. Really it’s hard to tell what they’re looking for and I don’t believe they are going by the books anymore, it all just depends on the visa officer’s discretion which is quite unfortunate. Someone in an exactly the same situation as yours might receive a different decision. It’s crazy. All I can say is just stay hopeful, and don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If there’s anyone that can afford coming through a student visa I would recommend that rather than the join family process. It’s not worth the emotional roller coaster at all. Is there anyone awaiting an appeal decision right now? |

Hi, I am currently on critical skills visa and applied for my husband in June 2021, the visa got rejected after 6 months. We have just put in an appeal and hoping for the best. Spoke with someone here in similar circumstances and he said after over one year of submitting an appeal, he still hasn’t heard back from the embassy. The whole process just isn’t fair nor transparent, it’s shocking! |

Hi, thank you for your reply. I have sent you an email, hopefully you see it. I will reply here again just in case it helps anyone else in this situation. No, my spouse still has not gotten his visa. Its been over 5 months now. Thanks. opsyrado: Sorry for the late response as I”m no longer active here, my spouse was on critical skills but at the time of application he had moved to a stamp 4 visa but I’m guessing they treat both same. When it was taking time I reached out to Dublin office but they referred me to Abuja office. They later sent me a mail asking for additional documents which I provided immediately. It can take up to 6months or more but just be patient so far all your documents are complete, they’ll reach out to you. I”m hoping by now you don’t need all this and your spouse has gotten his visa. |

opsyrado: Hello, I applied for join family visa on 30th November 2020 and received mail approval from the embassy on 21st April 2021, I have now gotten my visa. Hi Opsyrado, congratulations on the approval of your visa, i can just imagine the excitement and relief you must be feeling right now. I was wondering if you can let me know what category you applied for your join family in. Was it as a spouse of an irish citizen or a critical skills employment? I am currently a critical skills permit holder, my husband applied for a join family visa in June, we are yet to hear back, I know its only been two months, but I thought that the processing for people with critical skills does not take as long as other join family visas. we are thinking of just applying for a study visa for him if it is going to take anything from 6 to 12 months just for our peace of mind and sanity. Hope to hear from you soon, Thanks. |
