Aptly captured by Fadojoe. This is the heart of a true leader. You will surely lead this country as a president. We need great minds like you.

Jatuski:

By; FADURI O. JOSEPH

The recent overthrowing of government by Niger Republic Military is no doubt a slap on Africa's evolving democracy and the need to allow it to grow, to have missteps but allow to grow so that Africa as a continent can learn to be democratic and the military forces in Africa can know their role as arm of the government to protect and defend their country against external attacks, not as rulers.

So, a military takeover in Niger and other six African nations like Mali, Burkina Faso, and the rest, are counterproductive to Africa development.

Military men are not trained to rule, but trained to fight and defend their nation. The hunger and greed with African leaders and the citizens is also the reason why military seizes power in African nations in this 21st century.

The world has moved past the era of military dictatorship and to see African nations now trending in military take over of power across the length and breath of Africa, is nothing but a condemnable act.

So I will advise Niger military heads to peacefully handover power back to civilians, allow them to make mistakes and the people of Africa and Niger mostly should spend their energy to strengthen democracy and elect leaders who would make their nation great and vote out leaders who would do otherwise and destroy the people and starve them of economic progress.

The good thing is that it takes only four years to send a bad leader packing or even impeachment by its parliament if need be, with people protesting against such bad governance.

Democracy comes with freedom of speech, of association and rights of citizens to speak and be heard, but life under military rule is the opposite of freedom. It's a setback and total setback at that.

Having said this, it is also very important to turn to the politicians in Africa on the need for them to do the right thing by the people who voted them into power. Africa is bedeviled with corruption, greed, and lack of human sympathy. Our politicians steal so much in a continent where its citizens are worth less than a dollar a day.

Democracy, they say is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. And it is the responsibility of those in power to deliver to the people of their nations dividends of democracy, good economy, good and quality education.

Provide enabling environment for private companies to strive and succeed, security of life and property, good education for the youths, good health care system for the adults.

For the elderly and the children welfare must not be left out. Above all ensure a robust plan for the citizens of the country. These are basic things people want and if politicians can provide them, then there won't be the urge for military takeover anywhere in Africa. However, the lack of these things too does not excuse military to seize power.

The democratic system in the world we follow like America and Europe; all have gone through so much test of time. We must allow ours to do same. Let us make mistakes and correct them. Get involve mostly, which is what we lack in Africa; especially among Youths since time immemorial.

Democracy in Niger Republic and all across African nations is no privilege, but a right for all Africans and that we must support and protect it and condemn any act of coup on Africa soil.

May God Bless Africa and give African leaders foresight to do the right thing for their people

NNPP ADVISES NIGERIAN YOUTHS TO GET MORE PREPARED FOR GOVERNANCE AS THE PARTY IS GIVING THE YOUTHS PLATFORM

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has advised Nigerians youths to brace up and develop their leadership skills the more towards being involved in actual governance.

This was disclosed to pressmen in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday January 20, 2022 by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, at the end of a close door meeting with some youths aspiring to contest at different levels under the platform of the party.

"The party is proud of the vibrant youths that are already expressing interest in contesting at different levels. And we can confidently assert that the tides is changing already as more youths are beginning to aspire for political positions and not just like it used to be that, some Nigerian youths relegated themselves to mere social media commentators or political thugs used by politicians every four years in exchange for peanuts".

The party however added that, there is still need for more awakening so that more of our youths can go above sitting on the fence only criticising without working towards being involved at the center. "In as much as constructive criticism is essential in any democratic society, the youths need to try as much as possible to avoid just focusing ONLY on criticism without trying to get involve in governance. The nation is blessed with many youths that are so intelligent, highly endowed and that have cognitive experience through their involvement in businesses, organisations and leadership positions in other areas", NNPP observed.

This period that there is awareness in youth involvement in governance, there is the need to understand the importance of having a party like the New Nigeria People's (NNPP) that has been youth friendly, giving more youths (both male and female) the opportunity to be involved in party adminstration as well as offering them the platform to contest for political positions and they also enjoy massive support from the party. "Hence, no youth can claim to want to be involved in governance, but have no platform to contest under, except such person is not qualified or not serious. NNPP is that political party that is always ready to give adequately qualified youths platform irrespective of their status, ethnicity or religious affiliation. We are one!"

Lagos clashes leave 80 dead
2000-10-17 19:34
Lagos - Fierce ethnic clashes erupted for a third day running in Nigeria's commercial centre, Lagos, on Tuesday leaving more than 80 people dead and bodies littering the streets.

Police helicopters flew over the Ajegunle area which was the main scene of the fighting as anti-riot policemen poured into the district amid the constant sound of gunfire.

Smoke rose into the sky over Lagos's main Apapa Port area, leading to Ajegunle where dozens of cars and homes were burnt.

The fighting between Nigeria's two largest ethnic groups began on Saturday in the central Nigerian city of Ilorin in a dispute over the naming of a Yoruba traditional ruler for the town.

Police clashed with a Yoruba militant group, the Odua Peoples' Congress (OPC). Police said six people died but the OPC said nine had been killed.

On Sunday, OPC members launched what a senior OPC official said were reprisal attacks on Hausas living in Lagos.

OPC secretary-general Kayode Ogundamisi told AFP on Monday the killings were regretted and admitted his organisation could not control its members.

"The bloodshed is not worth it. It does not portray our cause well at all," he said.

At a police barricade set up on Tuesday on the Malu Road into Ajegunle from Lagos Island, police caught two Yoruba men, one of them disguised as a woman and carrying a machete, trying to enter the area.

Rumours - likely to inflame the situation - circulated that the Hausa leader of the Ajegunle district had been killed early on Tuesday.

Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu on Monday night slapped a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the area around Ajegunle and on Tuesday convened an emergency meeting of the leaders of the ethnic Yoruba and Hausa communities.

Lagos Information Commissioner Dele Alake told AFP the city authorities were "doing a lot" to try to restore calm.

"We really want to get the situation under control," he said.

Meanwhile, witnesses put the toll from the clashes in Lagos at at least 72.

Victoria Adeleke, a nurse who was working in Lagos's Alaba district where fighting took place on Monday, told AFP she had counted 22 bodies on the street.

Another witness, Patrick Adum, said he had seen 20 bodies in the Okokomaiko district of the city.

Other witnesses said they had seen eight bodies in the Orile district and 21 bodies on the outskirts of Ajegunle, the main area where fighting took place.

The fighting again focused attention on the OPC, set up in 1995 to promote the interests of the Yoruba, one of Nigeria's three largest ethnic groups, alongside the Hausa and Igbo.

The OPC is accused by its critics of being behind a series of attacks on other ethnic groups in the Yoruba-controlled southwest of the country.

The government of President Olusegun Obasanjo, himself a Yoruba, last year threatened an all-out war against the OPC after blaming it for riots in Lagos's Ketu district in which more than 100 people - mainly Hausas - died.

Since then, though regular clashes have occurred with the police, the most prominent OPC leaders have continued to operate publicly. - Sapa-AFP

ochejoseph:
7 Major Reasons Why Smart Youths & Students Are Voting For Atiku This Saturday

Nigerian students are among the most intelligent in the world. From Lagos to Owerri, from London to New York, the intellectual capacity of the young Nigerian is renowned. An analysis conducted by Rice University in the U.S. showed that Nigerian youths are the most educated of all migrants in the country. The institution credited the finding to a culture of relentless drive for education amongst Nigerians.

This Saturday, young Nigerians and students will be faced with task of selecting between a party that built 11 brand new universities from scratch in 3 years , sweeping millions of jambites into undergraduate programs and a party party that views youths and students as miscreants in the words of one of their leaders popularly known as "constituted authority".

There are several reasons why young Nigerians and students who have reached the voting age should kick out the cattle herder who glorifies cattles over human lives and the law professor under whose watch Nigeria's constitution is being raped with reckless abandon.

It takes a smart person to recognize incompetence, but only a man whose conscience is not snared can look beyond ethnic and religious sentiments to make an objective assessment. Here is why Nigerians youths and students should vote Atiku this Saturday:

1.The Extreme Hunger and Poverty In Our Hostels and Campuses

It is no news that life has become virtually unbearable for most Nigerians. Under the APC government of Buhari, the naira started competing with the Zimbabwean dollar for irrelevance as the prices of food stuffs soared.

The price of rice , garri and Indomie doubled, gala shrunk in size, while the salaries of most parents and sponsors remained stagnant or lost value. Many others became casualties of the job loss tsunami triggered by a medieval era economic policy known as Buharinomics which was described as the height of foolishness by the Financial Times of London.

The few parents and sponsors that managed to keep their jobs after the implementation of this policy could hardly support their wards because salaries were not paid. Under Buhari, we became the world headquarters for extreme hunger and poverty.

The good news here is that with an Atiku Presidency anchored on job creation and the opening up of the economy , joy and happiness is set to replace hunger and anger on our campuses. In the words of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria needs Atiku to make life more meaningful.( Nov 26. 2016 Daily Post)

2. The Inhuman Hike In school fees and Accommodation Charges

Despite renaging on virtually all their promises, the APC and its governors have inflicted untold hardship on Nigerian students. APC as a party is renowned for arbitrary hike in tuition fees and indiscriminate closure of schools when students protest such hikes. It took the intervention of ASUU and the upcoming elections for the Buhari administration to suspend the proposed increase in tuition fees to =N= 350,000. Voting for Buhari on saturday is an endorsement of the plan to increase the tuition of fee of public universities to between N350, 000 to N500, 000 per session.

On the other hand, here is what Buhari himself had to say about Atiku and education "Over the years, I have admired your courage and doggedness in defending your interests and your generosity in promoting education" ( Mohammadu Buhari Nov 24. 2016)

3. The Burden Of Transportation Cost On and Off Campus

Despite their pseudo promise that Nigerians will buy fuel for =N= 40 per liter , Nigerian students both on and off campuses have had to bear the brunt of high transport fares owing to the increase in the price of petroleum products by Buhari. High transport fares have also complicated life for students on Industrial training and catapulted cost of living for virtually everyone.

Unlike the current fraudulent subsidy regime being operated by the cabal, Atiku and Obi intend to clean up the system and provide affordable and easily accessible transportation system that would be fully integrated across the length and breadth of Nigeria making life much better for all Nigerians.

4. Nepotism & Employment Of Unqualified Lecturers.

Following the illegal sack of vice chacellors of Federal institutions by this regime, many federal universities which hitherto had a Nigerian outlook began wearing Northern look with the disengagement of non native lecturers and the employment of lecturers who can hardly express themselves in English teaching undergraduate students who knew better than them. With merit and intellectual capacity being slaughtered on the alter of nepotism,
the result was a catastrophic fall in the standard of education in the federal universities affected.

What will Atiku do differently? This is how Garba Shehu, Atiku's former spokesman describes him "Even those who don’t like him say Atiku does not compromise on quality. He has a knack for identifying good staff. In line with this tradition, we hire only good hands. With Atiku, quality is always the number one issue". ( Premium Times Dec .8.2013)

5. Destruction Of the Almajiri School Legacy

According to UNICEF, the North East alone has about 3 Million Almajiris. The PDP through President Goodluck Jonathan created a path that began the transformation and reformation of the Almajiri school system. This resulted in the construction of commissioning of about 200 Almajiri schools with library , mosque and Mallams quarters .
However, on November 17 , 2017 just two years into Buharis administration, The Daily Trust Newspaper reported that this laudable initiative of the PDP is now in ruins leaving an estimated 10 million Almajiri students wondering the streets of northern Nigeria with many becoming willing tools in the hands of extremists. This explains why Nigeria currently has 13.2 million out-of-school children about the highest in the world.

Atiku is a very compassionate person, unlike the malevolent fellow from Daura who does not care according to Amaechi, Atiku's holistic plan for education will ensure that our out of school children return to school at the shortest possible time , his UBE credentials and his actions during the Anambara school closure saga by Mbadinuju speaks for itself.

6.The Reckless Abandonment of Kano Students Abroad

Buhari watched helplessly as Ganduje stuff millions of dollars into the Central bank located inside his baban riga yet refusing to pay the tuition fees of Kano state students sent abroad during Kwankwaso' s era even though he was part and parcel of that government as deputy governor.

Why will a President allow his citizens to roam the streets of a foreign country begging for food, simply because he wants to send a message to a political foe?

Nigeria needs a students and youth friendly president like Atiku , one who understands young people and connects with their hopes and aspirations. Even when the Special Eagles where stranded, it was Atiku who came to their rescue and ensured our country was not disgraced.

7. Buharis Penchant For Demarketing Young Nigerians

The youths constitute a vast majority of the Nigerian students population. Despite their immense contribution to nation building, Buhari has used every available opportunity on the international stage to rubbish them in the eyes of the international community.

During a February 2016 interview with UK Telegraph, Mr Buhari said most Nigerian youths in the UK are disposed to criminality despite the fact that young Nigerian students are among the top performing students throughout the United Kingdom.

Even though research has clearly shown that young Nigerians are the most educated, our president still went ahead to describe us as the most uneducated and lazy crop of people at the Commonwealth Business Forum in the United Kingdom, attended by Heads of State and Government of 53 nations.

In contrast, Atiku passionately believes in the young Nigerian, he has openly declared his willingness to nuture our entraprenural drive and support us to achieve our dreams.

Having tried an analogue president and witnessed it's catastrophic consequence on a 21st century economy, it is time to elect a digital president

Having tried a cattle rearer with unproductive cows, it is time to elect a man that understands the demands of a global economy.

It is time to rescue Nigeria and Nigerians from the cabals by electing Atiku Abubakar as President so that our great country can start working again.

May God Himself Continue to Bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria

Dcn Oche Joseph Otorkpa

Member PDP Presidential Campaign Council

Atiku should have the votes of students and youths. So after calling you Lazy Nigerians Youths before the international community, will you still vote him? The youths, students and youths have been at the receiving end of Buhari's bad governance.

NOT JUST ABOUT THE NEXT ELECTION BUT THE NEXT GENERATION.

On the 16th of February 2019, the war is all about the soul of this country Nigeria and make no mistake, your salvation is assured in the hands of Atiku Abubakar.

Last night the Presidential Debate took place which had the incumbent President Buhari missing in action and as such the candidate of the PDP and President to be come 16th Feburary 2019 also took a decision to pull out of the debate due to the absence of President Buhari.

The action of Atiku has been criticised by some and supported by some too.
For those who are student of Politics and History. You will agree with me that Atiku made a very good decision to withdraw from the debate since his major opponent was absent.

From my little experience and participation in politics I will categorically say that non of the 3 other candidates which includes Kingsley Moghalu, Fela Durotoye and Oby Ezekwesili can effectively and efficiently carry out their manifesto and deliver the promised change because they and their political party cannot execute a fraction of what they promised. They lack the muscle, structure and above all their political party isn't popular so there was no need for Atiku to waste his time after a 12 hours trip from the United States of America to debate with candidates who cannot win one complete local government out of the 774 local government in the general election. To me they are just mere distraction.

Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder. President Buhari doesn’t know his left from his right nor anything happening around him. Decisions on National issues are taken on his behalf, this is not propaganda; apart from the evident catastrophic outing of Wednesday last week during his interview section, his wife Aisha Buhari has openly told Nigerians that the cabals are in charge of the country.

February 16th isn't about the next election but the next generation .
It is about Nigeria. With all sense of decency, any vote you cast for Moghalu, Fela or Ezekwesili is a vote for Buhari. A vote you cast not for Atiku is a vote to mess up the lives of your children and generation unborn.

I know some will say I'm entitled to my opinion. But one thing is sure, a new Nigeria is possible and the best chance you and I stand is Atiku Abubakar of PDP.

Atiku is ready for the debate. Anytime Buhari is ready, Atiku will face him.

iwayumeh:

Vote Atiku Abubakar to revive our Economy, Secure our land and Unite our People.

Can you imagine how Buhari dodged a debate that those sympathetic towards APC Organised and instead of his supporters to talk of how he shunned the debate, they are busy talking of Atiku.

Simple logic, APC challenged Atiku to travel to USA. Atiku Challenged Buhari for debate. Atiku traveled to USA and return for the debate and Buhari shunned the debate.

If our Super Eagles are invited by Brazil for an international friendly, we expect them to go to Brazil and play with the Brazilian national team.

But if they get to Brazil only to see the Brazilian national team shun the match and they meet primary school boys team wearing Brazilian Jersey and waiting for them on the field with different cameras panning on the field, I believe you must been disappointed if the Super Eagles too enter the field and go ahead to play against the primary school team.

That exactly is how I would have been disappointed if Atiku had debated with those mere attention seekers while the Buhari who is his only contender shun the debate.
