A developing story from Jos, Plateau State indicates that a Lion is on the prowl, after it escaped from the Jos Wild Life Park.

It was learnt that the animal escaped around 8am Wednesday morning through an opening mistakenly left unclosed when it was being fed.

While the Park’s management believes that the Lion is still within its premises, there are fears the animal may have slipped into town as the Jos Wild Life Park is not fenced.

Confirming the development, the Acting General Manager, Plateau Toursim Corporation, Mr John Doy, said the lion escaped “at about 8 a.m. while it was being fed”.

According to Doy, the Lion, which had been caged since 1972, “slipped through the gate of the cage when it was opened for its routine feeding”.

“The animal is still within the vicinity of the Park but our fear is that the Park is not fenced.

“We are struggling to recapture it, but we want members of the public to be vigilant”, he added.

The acting general manager said that he had already informed all security agencies to come to the Park’s assistance.

We are not the only ones scratching our heads at the many ludicrous versions of ‘Hello’ being churned out by some of our artistes. Movie producer, Charles Novia, has spoken out and called for an end to it all.

Singer, Omawumi first released her reggae cover of Adele’s new single, ‘Hello’, we all agreed it’s so amazing as she almost stole the British singer’s thunder. Even Sean Tizzle went on Twitter to commend her and even suggested her version was better than the original one.

Omawunmi’s rendition inspired other Nigerian singers especially after she received many applauds, and they all started releasing their covers like the world was coming to an end.

Singer, Praiz’s version was wonderful, Choc city singer, Ruby Gyang followed, and next was Sojay, Niyola, Diwari, Yemi Sax; the list goes on and on.

Noni crooner, Samklef‘s version was even deleted by Youtube for obvious copyright infringement. But, haven’t they overdone this one song?

Only when we thought we are the only ones scratching our heads at the many ludicrous versions being churned out by some of our Nigerian artistes, movie producer, Charles Novia, who never fails to speak his mind on issues, spoke out and called for an end to it all.

He took to his Instagram and blasted Nigerian singers especially E.M.E star, Niyola for her auto-tune and yoruba actress, Dayo Amusa, he described her version as ‘Cacophoney of a cover’.

Below is what he posted: “Suddenly, it’s Adele’s virus which seems to have infected our Naija artistes! Some of the most outrageous covers of that ‘Hello’ song ( which I don’t really see what the craze for it is in my opinion) have come out of Naija.

From the appreciable to the average and to the mundane! Who asked Niyola to autotune that song o? Chai! Who the blazes advised Dayo Amusa to release that cacophony of a cover? Who…who….! Abeg, I nor fit shout.

Another case of assault of a female journalist, has recently occurred in Enugu when a woman named Mrs.Clara Eleje, who claimed to be the Sole proprietress of Holy Family maternity at Ugwuodowu , Trans- Ekulu assaulted one Miss Amaka Owoh, a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority Enugu Network Centre while she was on official duty at the Nnamdi Azikiwe National stadium.


According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the woman dragged the reporter and stripped her half naked exposing her bra in public, it took the intervention of onlookers to rescue the battered reporter.


The unfortunate victim said she just finished an interview at an official assignment when Mrs. Elendu pounced on her and dragged her cloth accusing her of collecting the sum of N150,000 and not air a report on baby factory which the woman was alleged to be involved in.


She further said she only interviewed the woman and did not discuss any monetary issue with her. She insisted that she is innocent of the accusation and did not collect a dime from Mrs. Elendu.


She however said the attempt by the woman is a physical assault on her aimed at destroying her image and that of the National Television she works for. She pleaded that her life has been threatened and her safety is not guaranteed. The case has been reported to the Ogui police station of the state command.


When contacted, Mrs. Eleje has this to say about the issue. “She collected N150,000 with her colleague. I have a case with civil defence involving my clinic. After the interview, she collected the money. She told me she will not air it only for her to air it two days after. She said if she airs it, people will run away from my clinic. Even if she will air it, she is supposed to call me or call my sister who works with ESBN. My anger with her is that she said she would not air it but later did otherwise.”


But she said you publicly assaulted her when she told you she didn’t discuss any monetary reward or collected anything from you?


“If I see somebody going on the street, I will just go and attack that person, am I mad? She is like a daughter to me. Once she comes and apologise, I will forget about the whole thing.”


However, Owoh has insisted that journalists from other media houses were there when she was assaulted and that she did not in any way collect any form of gratification from Mrs. Eleje. She added that one Blessing Nwangwu Akuabata who is Eleje’s friend and allegedly threatened to deal with her, instigated the whole process.


With the increasing rate of violence against media men in the country, Government at all levels and private media owners have been urged to ensure that perpetrators of violence against journalists during the course carrying out their duties should face the law also they should provide adequate security and insurance against hazards that endanger lives of press men.

U-23 National Team Head Coach, Samson Siasia has sent a passionate appeal to the kidnappers of his 72 year old mother to release her.

The 72 –year old Mrs Ogere Siasia, according to Samson, was abducted in the village of Odoni, Bayelsa State by three men on motorbike. A distressed Siasia said his mother happened to be the only one at home in his village taking care of his father who is visually impaired.
Siasia said: “Right now I am confused, from the story I got, three men on motorbike stormed my parents house in my village Odoni in Bayelsa State, shot sporadically into the air before taking my old mother away on a bike.

“What do they expect from me? I don’t have money, I am right now on national duty, and need all the time to concentrate on this very important national task, so I beg them to please release my mother so that I can concentrate on this task of qualifying the U-23 National Team for the men’s football event of the Rio Olympics.”

On learning of the unfortunate incident on Tuesday morning, NFF President Amaju Pinnick expressed his deepest concerns. “This is quite disturbing. We are just preparing for a crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, and the U-23 boys are already in The Gambia for a pre-Cup of Nations training camp. Why this?

“All we can do is to appeal to the kidnappers to free Samson Siasia’s aged mother. Samson is on a critical national assignment presently and the last he needs is this kind of distraction.”

The Pastor of House Hold Of God Church, Pastor Chris Okotie, yesterday while preaching in his church openly said the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor deceived former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest in the last election saying, God has said he would win the election an d he can go ahead with it. According to Okotie, the former president was not willing to re-contest, but when Oritsejafor gave him his word, he went ahead. Okotie said, so many pastors knew he, Oritsejafor gave a FALSE prophesy but where too scared to call him out, because they do not want to be insulted on the pages of newspapers, but he, Okotie never stopped saying, Goodluck Jonathan was going to fail because he wasn’t the candidate of the Lord.

“Pastor Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with a false prophecy from God that he (Jonathan) would win the election convincingly. The man (Jonathan) became convinced to contest after Oritsejafor had told him, using CAN’s name, that God had ordained him the winner of the 2015 presidential election, he said.”


Speaking on why so many pastors kept mum on Oritsejafor’s prophesy, Okotie said;

“They couldn’t speak out because they were scared of being insulted. They were scared of being insulted for saying rubbish. They were scared of being insulted on the pages of newspapers. So, while I continued to write and speak that Jonathan was not the man, those of them who knew the truth in what I was saying chose to keep quiet out of fear.

“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan was not of God; that whosoever would win would be one that had built a tabernacle in the presence of God.

“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan did not belong to the House of David and that since he did not belong to the household, his winning would bring more sorrow to Nigeria,” Okotie said.

1. My dear people of Rivers State

It is with a profound sense of concern and responsibility that I address you over the judgment of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal delivered on Saturday, October 24, 2015, purportedly nullifying my election and return as the duly and lawfully elected Governor of our State.


2. We all know that on April 11, 2015, Rivers people in their millions joined the rest of the country and enthusiastically participated in electing their Governor and members of the State House of Assembly.

3. Apart from the reported malfunctioning of the card readers supplied by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which placed no advantage on any of the contestants, the election took place throughout the State and was adjudged both by local and international observers to be largely peaceful, transparent, free, fair and credible.

4. Following the success of the election, I was returned as duly and lawfully elected by the INEC, having satisfied all the necessary legal requirements.


5. However, following the petitions by my friend, the APC gubernatorial candidate and his party, and despite the woeful failure of the Petitioners to discharge the burden of proof with respect to their contradictory, wild and false allegations against the conduct of the election, the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal nullified my election on the basis of INEC’s alleged infraction of its administrative guidelines on the use of card readers.


6. It is common knowledge that INEC’s card readers malfunctioned throughout the country in the 2015 general elections. It is also common knowledge that wherever the card reader malfunctioned, manual accreditation, which is the only process, recognized by the current Electoral Act, was used to accredit voters all over the country.


7. So far I am not aware of any State where the election was postponed as a result of failure of card readers. Furthermore, the Court of Appeal in Agbaje v Ambode clearly stated that the partial or non-use of card readers is not the basis for the cancellation of an election.


8. Yet, against all legal odds and the grains of logic, the Tribunal in its wisdom decided to accord undue legal weight to the straw of statements around the use or non-use of card readers to support its decision in the face of a hopelessly bad case of the Petitioners.

9. As we all know, our judicial system is built on the doctrine of hierarchy of courts in which lower courts are bound by the decisions of courts higher in hierarchy on the same or similar issues. It is therefore strange for the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal to arrive at a decision that negates subsisting judgments of the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court.

10. Being an implacable believer in the majesty of our judicial system as the last hope of the common man, I have implicit confidence in the ability of the appellate courts to correct the mistakes of the Tribunal and right the wrong that has been done to our collective psyche and aspiration.

11. Accordingly, I have since instructed my team of lawyers to immediately commence the appeal process and have the decision of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upturned for good.

12. At this point, I appeal to all our supporters across the state and beyond to remain calm and go about their legitimate duties in a peaceful manner. There is no cause for alarm.

13. By virtue of the Constitution and the Electoral Act, I am still your Governor and will remain your Governor until the exhaustive conclusion of the appeal process at the Supreme Court.


14. Therefore, be assured that your mandate, which you freely gave to the Peoples Democratic Party and my humble self, is intact, safe and secure. God will not allow your mandate to come to naught.

15. I wish to thank the people of Rivers State for the unwavering support I have enjoyed from you since the beginning of the struggle to this moment. I am highly humbled with the show of solidarity from all and sundry and in particular, the confidence in our ability to move the State forward, and the overwhelming satisfaction with what we are already doing as our government to reposition the State.


16. I wish to further assure you that my team and I will not be distracted by this minor irritation. We shall remain focused on our vision and continue to deliver on our fundamental promises on improving security, massive development of infrastructure and socio-economic empowerment in Rivers State.

17. Finally, be assured that by the special grace of God, we shall ultimately prevail over our adversaries, retain our mandate and return the glory to God Almighty our Maker and Refuge.

The Osun State Government has announced the name for the new Ooni of Ife. The new man to sit on the throne is Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of the Giesi ruling house and a holder of Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Polytechnic Ibadan. Prince Adeyeye is 40 years old.

According to a Government statement, entitled “Appointment of a New Ooni,” , “This follows the completion of the due process and the communication of their (Kingmakers’) choice to the government.”
Ogunwusi will sit on the throne of Oduduwa, left by Oba Okunade Sijuade, who died on July 28 2015 in a London hospital.

The statement was signed by secretary to the state government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.

Former girlfriend to the founder of Radio Biafra, Chioma Amaryllis, who is also a PR Coordinator of the controversial radio, has revealed in a startling video that Radio Biafra is a fraud developed by her ex, Nnamdi Kanu to make money from Ndi-Igbo using Biafra.
