Nigerian comic actor, Osuofia, known in private life as Nkem Owoh has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to put pragmatic steps in place to improve the Nigerian movie industry

He charged the government to help ensure the sustainability movie industry, which has created jobs for youths of the country.

Osuofia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that, “I will want the three tiers of government to put their viewfinders toward Nollywood since they have recognized that Nollywood helps in the per capital income of the country.


“I feel that they are not paying enough attention to the movie industry. So, let them give us policies that will make this industry stand and defend this country

“I feel the movie industry is thriving and we are contributing our quota to the economic advancement of the country which makes me very, very happy.

“Since we are not relegated to the background, we will continue to strive harder in the development of the country in general. So I am happy to be a member of the Nollywood and see the improvement in Nollywood for now.

A desperate migrant was captured attempting to smuggle himself into Spain while hiding behind a car’s engine.The unidentified man – who is thought to be from Guinea – was discovered by stunned officials at the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.He were discovered after police thought the car’s driver was nervous.
According to the Telegraph,the car had travelled from Morocco and border officials found the migrant lying in a foetal position behind the car’s engine and radiator. His health was reportedly in a bad way because of the petrol fumes and searing heat.

As reported by the Telegraph, another migrant was discovered hidden behind one of the car’s seats. Neither man has been identified.Both were taken too hospital and treated for dehydration and cramp. Doctors warned they could both have died had they been trapped for much longer

Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye, a historian who served as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States, has died in Washington, DC, SaharaReporters just learned. Mr. Adefuye died at a yet to be disclosed hospital in the US, a source in the US told our correspondent. Mr. Adefuye was recalled to Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in as President. He was still waiting to hand over to a new ambassador when he suddenly died today.

She gave birth to her first child, Purity Okojie on December 30, 2012. Her second child, a boy Henry Okojie, was born on October 15, 2014; this will be the third time Mercy Johnson is conceiving in four years.

Mercy Johnson married Prince Odianosen Okojie on August 27, 2011.

Mercy Johnson first met her husband in 2008 aboard a flight from France, he revealed that he asked for her number but she declined. He however was persistent in his pursuit of her.

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike yesterday prayed the Lagos Island Customary Court not to dissolved his marriage, saying he still loves his wife,Emma. Emma had gone to court, seeking dissolution of their 12-year-old marriage. Emeka, represented by his counsel, Abdul’Hakeem Labi- Lawal, said his client has not appeared in court because he is ill. “My client is ill but I will try my best possible he comes on the next adjourned date. We indulge the court to give us six months from this day to see if there is possibility of settlement between the couple,” he said. But Mrs Ike said six months was too long adding that the respondent had two years to reconcile with her but he didn’t. She said: “The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return.” The court’s President, Chief Awos Awosola, said the court could only grant two weeks. He said: “I am expecting Emeka Ike in this court if he really wants settlement.” Awosola adjourned the matter till August 12 for further hearing. After the court rose, Mrs Ike told The Nation that she wasn’t ready to return to her husband. “Over two years since I left the house, he never taught of reconciliation. He had every opportunity to ask me to return but he didn’t. So why now?”she asked. Mrs Ike said her husband took her last two children from her when she was going for her mother’s burial in February. “He promised to bring them to me immediately I returned from my mother’s burial but he didn’t. Even when he didn’t allow me access to see our children, I spoke with them on several occasions but now, he doesn’t allow me anymore. My children are now against me, she said. Mrs Ike said she left her matrimonial home because she could no longer bear being tortured anymore. “If I was still with him, I may not survive. I was 19-year old when I met him and he was the one who deflowered me. I see no reason I shouldn’t be treated with utmost respect.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says arrangement has been concluded for the sale of its 2016 application documents.
This is contained in a statement by the board’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.
According to the statement, the s ale is to prepare candidates early for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

It said that candidates were urged to purchase the examination scratch cards from Zenith Bank, Sky Bank and First Bank.
”The registration fee for the UTME is N5,000 and candidates are also to pay N500 to obtain the textbook, The Last Days at Forcados High School’.
”Candidates will, however, be issued the book at the point of registration after showing evidence of payment,” the statement said.
It added that the registration period would span from Aug. 31 to Jan. 15, 2016.
According to the statement, the registration website will close on Jan. 19, 2016.

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS ), Major General Tukur Yusuf Buratai narrowly escaped on Saturday as his convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram gunmen while going from Maiduguri to Dikwa, near the border with Cameroon.

According to Colonel Sani usman, in a statement ,the leading convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Faljari village between Mafa and Dikwa.However, the terrorists were over powered by the troops who killed 10 and captured five terrorists.


“During the encounter, sadly, we lost a soldier, while an officer and four soldiers sustained gun shot wounds. The arrested terrorists have been sent for interrogation while the remains of the gallant soldier and the wounded soldiers were evacuated back to Maiduguri.
“The wounded soldiers are stable and responding to treatment at 7 Division Hospital and Medical Services. At Dikwa, the COAS interacted with a mammoth crowd of internally displaced persons where he assured them of their safety,” said Usman.
