PoliticsRe: Only continuity can ensure lasting development, says Obasanjo by SuperModerator: 10:57am On Dec 23, 2014
philips70:
He isn't referring to continuity of persons in office but continuity in policies. If policies are beneficial they should be retained by successive governments but if the government have genuine reasons to feel they are counter productive they should discard them with military dispatch.
I'm aware, I read everything.
I said we need change because the majority of GEJ's policies are not good policies
PoliticsRe: I Am Not Funding APC, Says Amaechi by SuperModerator: 10:52am On Dec 23, 2014
boujaye:
you are a big fool! i thought you know politics. Fund raising was done in America for Obama's re-election, even some groups in Nigeria did a fund raising for OBAMA. If Dangote and the likes donate N20 billion naira, is it not a chicken fee, would you probe?
ignoramus, stop the insult.
is America's constitution same as ours?

Section 91 (1) of the Electoral Act provides that the
maximum election expenses to be incurred by
candidate at a Presidential election shall be N1,
000,000,000.00.
It goes without saying that the donation of the sum
of N21.27 Billion by various individuals, groups of
individuals and companies at the PDP Presidential
Fund Raising Dinner organised to raise campaign
funds for the campaign of President Jonathan is an
illegality because it clearly violates Section 91 (2)
of the Electoral Act.
Conversely, Section 91 (9) of the Electoral Act
stipulates that an individual or other entity shall not
donate more than N1, 000,000.00 to any candidate.
It is as clear as the crystal that all those
individuals, groups of individuals and companies
that donated more than N1 Million towards the
campaign of President Jonathan have contravened
Section 91 (9) of the Electoral Act.
Section 91 (10) of the Electoral Act says that
candidate who knowingly acts in contravention of
this section commits an offence and on conviction
is liable in the case of Presidential election, to a
maximum fine of N1, 000,000.00 or imprisonment
for a term of 12 months or both.
The ceiling placed by the Electoral Act on the
amount to be donated towards the political
campaign of a candidate is not only limited to the
presidential election.
The Electoral Act has also placed limitation on
Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives,
State Assembly and Chairmanship of the Area
Councils in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
However for the purpose of this essay, I shall
restrict myself to the presidential election alone.
Section 91 (cool of the Electoral Act provides that in
determining the total expenditure incurred in
relation to the candidature of any person at any
election no account shall be taken of thus:
(a) any deposit made by the candidate on his
nomination in compliance with the law;
(b) any expenditure incurred before the notification
of the date fixed for the election with respect to
services rendered or materials supplied before such
notification; or
(c) Political party expenses in respect of the
candidate standing for a particular election.
It is clear that all those individuals, groups of
individuals, corporate bodies and companies that
donated more than N1 Million at the PDP
Presidential Fund Raising Dinner have contravened
the provisions of the Electoral Act. They
immediately should be arrested and charged to
Court.
In the case of President Jonathan he has clearly
breached Section 91 (10) of the Electoral Act. The
saving grace of President Jonathan is that by
Section 308 of the Constitution of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria , 1990 (as amended) he has
constitutionally immunity from prosecution as long
as he in office as President.
The Independent National Electoral Commission
must assert its independence by wading into this
matter and launching an investigation immediately.

PoliticsRe: PDP Names Ahmadu Ali As Jonathan’s Campaign Director by SuperModerator: 9:28am On Dec 23, 2014
barcanista:
Chief Thief Ahmadu Ali is the same notorious Ali who was the PDP Chairman that supervised the rigging of 2007 election at all levels. He is the eddiot that boasted that PDP will rule Nigeria for the Next 50years (from 2006), he is the eddiot that said "There is no progress without PDP". By the grace of God we shall humiliate him.
oh! I get GEJ's reason for choosing him.
so that is his plan.
he knows he can't defeat Buhari without rigging
PoliticsRe: I Am Not Funding APC, Says Amaechi by SuperModerator: 9:15am On Dec 23, 2014
donmalcolm21:
we need to know the amount because Gej's own was very transparent.
in a sane society, most of those that contributed to GEJ's campaign should have been persecuted for going against the constitution.
They should even be probed, where did they get the money from?

PoliticsRe: Over 110 Boko Haram Terrorists killed in Damboa, Borno State by SuperModerator: 9:21pm On Dec 20, 2014
sometimes, I wonder how many Boko Harams are

news like NA kills 50, 100, 200... Boko Harams and they don't finish

you will also see news like 5, 6, 12... civilians dead in suicide bomb blast by Boko Haram

going by what I hear on the news, more Boko Haram members have been killed compared to civilians

so according to the news, Boko Haram members are more than civilians

something is actually wrong somewhere.

either NA is killing both civilians and counting them as Boko Haram or it's a propaganda.

nobody should misquote me because I'm not sympathetic to Boko Haram, I'm only saying my mind

PoliticsRe: Breaking News!: I May Expose Buhari -IBB* by SuperModerator: 8:49pm On Dec 20, 2014
I don't like going the line of attacking parties instead of individuals, but I have to do it now

PDP accused Buhari of being an Islamic extremist, but IBB who registered Nigeria as a Muslim country despite Nigeria not having up to 50% Muslims is a PDP member

The same IBB that is as corrupt as OBJ and GEJ, (all members of the PDP)

If he had anything to say, he should have said it... what is keeping him from saying it since 2012

PoliticsRe: Crashing Oil Prices; A Blessing In Disguise For Nigeria!!!! by SuperModerator:
Blessing or curse, I don't understand why the price of fuel wasn't reduced
despite the price of oil being slashed by half

My reasons are;
1) If imported fuel costs N104/litre, what of the little we refine locally?

2) What of Diesel that had no subsidy, if PMS could fall from N145/litre to N104/litre (subsidy excluded) why didn't the price of diesel fall?
Not to talk of kerosene that the subsidy is in ghost (them no dey see us) mode

3)FG claims increase in dollar makes importation of refined crude more expensive.
What of more earnings we get from the exportation of crude oil due to increase in dollarhuh

Oil refineries should also be sold.

I am sure some of these moribund government corporations were almost sold in the past but personal interests and labour generated controversies stalled them..

I wish they could contract NNPC to a foreign oil company like Mobil Unlimited.

Majority of Nigerian officials are just destroyers and value eroders..

the biggest telecommunication company in China is owned by the government.
you can't expect to see NITEL in Ghana, it is government owned
BusinessRe: FG Approves Sale Of NITEL/MTEL For $252m by SuperModerator: 9:14am On Dec 19, 2014
Privatisation is the only thing PDP lead Government know how to do.

later, they will say GEJ performed than all our previous leaders... I will always ask who built those infrastructures he is privatising if not the previous leadershuh

he keeps selling what Nigeria spent years and money to build to his proxies

here is one of my previous posts;

SuperModerator:
I decided to write this because of the recent sale of NITEL, the topic was on front page and I saw so many comments like;
GEJ is working
GEJ till 2019...

I don't blame the people that made those comments, I only blame their ignorance.
If only they knew that NITEL is still very much functional and it breaks my heart to see it sold.
If only they know the disadvantages of privatisation.

I will take my time to state my own view of privatisation based on my knowledge of Economics. ( I didn't study economics though, I studied Accounting)

I have always stood on my opinion that mixed economy system is the best, contrary to the popular believe that capitalist system is the best.

Let me explain the both to you.
A Capitalist system is where means of production are controlled and owned by private individuals.
While in a Mixed economy system the means of production are controlled by both the state and private individuals.

Nigeria practices mixed economy system but gradually shifting to capitalism through privatisation. ( which actually pains me a lot)

I feel some industries are better of owned and controlled by the government like; Electricity, Airports, seaports, logistics, mining, production of essential commodities like; Electricity, water...

The major reason why I hate privatisation is because it makes it things actually more expensive.
Private firms are profit oriented, so they are in the business to make profit
Government is not profit oriented, they are only interested in breaking even or making little profit

Private firms do pay tax, thereby adding to the cost of their services/goods
Government doesn't pay tax, so the cost of their service is relatively low.

Now, where am I driving to?
In a mixed economy system, essential services are meant to be owned/controlled/rendered by the government.
Most industries depend on these essential services like electricity, logistics and others.
If they are owned and controlled by the government, they will come at low cost.
So most industries will be able to operate under low cost of production which will bring about low selling price from these industries.
If electricity and the rest are owned and controlled by private firms, cost of production will be too high leading to high selling price from our industries.

Nigeria should stop privatisation specially now the price of oil has fallen.
To protect our currency, we need to export more products and we can only achieve that if we have comparative cost advantage over other countries

We can only have comparative cost advantage over other countries if cost of production is low in Nigeria.
Let me use a country I admire so much as a case study (China)
China is the country that experienced the fastest development ever.
How did China achieve this?
They found the perfect blend for socialist and capitalist economy, they were formally practicing a socialist economy system and they were among the poorest Nations on earth.
They experienced revolution when they somehow found a way to mix capitalist with the socialist system of government which is mixed economy system (same thing Nigeria is practicing, only that we are not doing it right)
In China, telecommunication, electricity, logistics... Are all owned and controlled by the government. That's one of the reasons they have the lowest cost of production in the world and it's the same reason almost all companies are moving to China (LG, Nike, Apple...)
They moved to China because of the low cost of production.
Have you ever wondered why to send like a 1kg parcel from China (which is not even in Africa) to any state Nigeria via post is cheaper than send the same parcel from Lagos to Anambra (registered mail)?

My Conclusion; if Nigeria wants to be an exporting Nation, the privatisation should stop. Except we want to continue exporting only raw materials.

Forgive and neglect my wrong constructions of sentences and punctuations, I typed all this with a phone
