I now understand that: 1. Money was created by man, it is nothingness created into something — it is value. Make money and watch the society that threw you into trashcan idolize you. It doesn't matter how you made it. 2. There are only 2 types of hustlers, you must call into one category no matter who you are; even if you're worth a trillion dollars. Nature has made it so, do not let the society deceive you. You're either a: i. Predators ii. Prey Loading... |
As years past by, the reality started hitting me hard and everything started making sense. I knew I understood what he was saying but I can't tell why I wanted him to continue... Sadly, there was no "daddy" again to tell me stories or explain better, maybe guide my footsteps. It was me against the world. I remained honest despite that but it always seemed to backfire every time, the vampires wasted no time in trying to suck away everything he had installed in me... I now understand that: Loading... |
It was already dark and he had just returned from his shop. I looked at his eyes and I could see sadness, I could feel it — it was as though, the story was his. "Daddy" I managed to say again "Don't worry, son. You'll understand as you grow older" Loading... |
"Daddy, I thought you told me that honesty pays... I don't understand" I asked again. The feeling is still fresh in my mind, I was confused and heartbroken. Even though I was young, I understood what my father meant but I just needed to know the reason and some comforting words... Loading... |
This story left me speechless and heartbroken because my dad had always emphasized on the importance of honesty. My dad and mom would make me read a book "the fruit of honesty is God's blessing" and preached countless times how honesty is very important. "Dad, why?" I managed to say. "SuperOnyi, you won't understand but will as you get older" my dad replied. Loading... |
"Sir, I might be poor but I believe that God's time is the best and would never take what's not mine. I believe that honesty pays even if our society is riddled with corruption" the young man answered confidently. "I'm very sorry but with this mentality, you'll never be rich — it shows you're not ready" the man said and walked away with the briefcase without looking at the young man twice. This young man watched this wealthy man drive away, he was shocked and lost. Loading... |
and explained how he found the suitcase. The wealthy man was astonished, it was just too good to be true. "Young man, wow! You're a very good person" "Thank you, sir" he answered with smile on his face. "Why did you return it? You know, you could have easily taken this with you" Loading... |
He took it and was determined to find the owner because as a honest man, he couldn't stoop so low to take what was not his. I don't know how he found the owner but he did find him and... Loading... |
And then, he found something — it was a suitcase and he became curious, he went closer. He was contemplating on what to do, he managed to open it and couldn't believe his eyes. The suitcase was full of money, all his life, he had never seen that much money — it was just too much to be real! He didn't understand what was going on, how did this money get here? Loading... |
One day, something unbelievable happened. As usual, he started his normal legitimate hustling in the morning after praying for a successful day. It was a bright morning, it was as if the sun knew something was about to happen but too excited to let the cat out of the bag... Loading... |
So, my father once told me a story about a poor young man who was the definition of a honest person. He was hardworking and never depended on anyone to survive but he was barely able to eat 3 square meal a day. He'd pray to God and ask him to "open doors" for him and elevate him from this poverty that has kept him in bondage. He chose to remain honest even when others were living large doing crime, he believed God's time was the best. One day... Loading... |
This is a very emotional story, maybe it's because I never really grew up with a father; but one thing I'm grateful and proud of is, as a kid, I learnt a lot from him. A lot of these things are starting to make sense as I get older, though, I tried to erase those memories but I know how important it is now. I'll be using this story as an introduction in my book (I might delete the thread soon), I've been withholding that book for so long but it's time to do exactly what Robert Greene did. So, my father once told me a story about... Loading... |
Candidlady: I know you need it, you could have just asked. |
MrBroke: Okay. Good. You might get a chance to get a free copy of a book I've been withholding for some reasons. |
MrBroke: The both of us have something in common — we are both broke one way or the other. But the difference is, I will overcome, I always do but you MIGHT remain stagnant because you've refused to read. |
Finally, I urge you to help IF you CAN — there's a reason those two words are not in lowercase. Do not expect too much — expectations breeds failure. Learn some skills — my knowledge about money and business will one day take me back to the top where I'm supposed to be. I love learning, it's a hobby so I won't stop. Make a positive impact on people's lives — despite being a teenager, I had the experience of an elder. I remember my babe, the only girl I gave a chance, saying she had learnt alot from me and she'd remain grateful forever... Remain positive — I suffered from depression so I understand the power of positivity. My name is SuperOnyi, I am a hustler. |
Now, this is what I have done and why I did what I did: 1. As a hustler, it's okay to help others if you CAN — it's called investing although I don't see it that way. I help people with expecting anything. 2. I'm borrowing my friend my "last card" because I love seeing people especially hard workers prosper. It's left for him to be sensible enough to appreciate by paying back. 3. Just because I helped him, doesn't mean I'm gonna help every 'Tom and Jerry' — like I often say, help a "friend" and end up losing that friend and your money. 4. I'm doing my best to help our girls to be less demanding and seek help from their family if they're not yet working. Relationship is not a job and I'm glad my sister understands that. 5. I'm also investing in myself and very soon, that laptop and course would bring on millions and change people's lives. Although, I'm still hesitant on uploading this book in my shelf gathering dust because of how dangerous it is, in the hands of evil hustlers. Loading... |
I called her back and asked if it was urgent, she said she needed it within 2 hours. I've got just 16k with me and 10k out of this money isn't mine, I already promised to lend that money to a friend that needed it to start his business. Except from that money which I know is peanuts to you, he'd receive free business tips from me. So back to my sister, I took my bath and went to send her #1,400 even though I'm broke. I know it's a crazy and naughty thing to do, I'm broke but still trying to help. Loading... |
Yesterday I came from an overnight work, I was tired and slept off without bathing or even eating. I did wake up severally times, yeah, I was mentally awake but physically tired. This morning, I spent time on ilegendd's old threads reading in between the lines (it's a gift). I can easily read people's mind. I saw a notification that I missed my sister's call, I knew that it's either she needed help, or it was a mistake because I use WhatsApp mainly because of my loved ones. I called back after 40 minutes and of course she needed help but I was running low on money, she said "it's okay if you don't have"... But I understood what being in need without help could case... After trying to invest my little peanuts into animal farm (I know that story came to your mind ) and losing it, my innocent goat died earlier this year.Since I had no money to go into music and college, I decided to focus on the hustling and internet and tell the world my story and save others from making the same mistake I made. I was saving up for a laptop but with the help of a generous nairalander, I added everything up and got a secondhand laptop three months ago. Last month, I used my "last card" to get an Amazon kdp course from a nairalander here and although I'm not an average beginner with no knowledge about it — I learnt something. I was also helping my sis (one of the most beautiful girl in the world) with little peanuts, even though I didn't have enough. Yesterday... Loading |
If you have been following my threads, you'd know I'm a hustler who has touched millions of naira but is now broke and starting from the bottom (shout out to Drake). 1. Never give up, keep chasing your dream as long as you know it's the right thing. 2. Advertising is key. 3. This one is still related to number 2. Staying quiet as a business man is being suicidal, make noise and let them know you can deliver. If you're an introvert, pay someone to do the job or become an ambivert. 4. Life's too short to waste it doing something you don't love. 5. A lot of people hate their job but still do it because they've got to eat and pay the bills. 6. Speak out, you might get some help. 7. Good friends are rare. 8. Think well before taking action. 9. Money is hard to get but easy to spend. 10. Let people's success motivate you. Thank you. |
The moral of this story is, but before that, poverty is a disease — it keeps you far from God. With money, you can deal with Caesar and still have time for God. Being non materialistic will not save you from the predator... Oh, yeah, so the moral of this story is: Loading |
Anyway back to my friend, dude always wanted to start up this business for years but couldn't because he wasn't financially buoyant enough. With the help of his dad and uncle, he's about to fulfill one of his dreams. This guy is good at cooking, carpentry and also works as an electrician. Imagine if he recorded himself cooking and upload on YouTube, Instagram etc. I know you'd ask "why not tell him?" I told him this already but you know, most Nigerians don't care about the power of the internet plus he doesn't use social media except WhatsApp. Anyway, I'm willing to help him with the little business tips and borrow him a few thousands — there's another thing we wanted to do but I will talk about that some other time... loading... |
When P.T. Barnum put up flyers and ads about the "161 year old African American nurse" of George Washington; while it was unbelievable, people still wanted to know how he would pull it off. It was shocking and funny, but remember that then, America was more religious than it is today. Ignorant religious people tend to believe or fear the unknown. Besides that, Barnum had triggered their curiosity. He successfully made huge profits off an innocent woman and asked her to play along telling stories about "little George". Before Barnum, there's been others that tried to profit off the "161 year old nurse" but they weren't as successful as him... Loading... |
He understood that humans are very curious creatures, we can't help it. This is why as kids, we did crazy things like: I. Closing the refrigerator slowly to see where the light goes. ii. Putting a rubber band in kerosene and see what happens. iii. Ask weird questions. Loading... |
3. Go to crowded place and advertise or at least, write something enticing on carbon paper like "Come and patronize me at thunder fire poverty, let's destroy poverty together". Just do something different, this is what P.T. Barnum did. He understood that... Loading... |
2. Give it a unique name: He doesn't even needs to paint the whole place, since he's running low on cash — he could start with the front side that faces the road and design a name "Thunder Fire Poverty blah blah blah" and see people coming to check it out. Let it stand out, remember the goal is to gain people's attention. Imagine if you see a restaurant or bar with a name like: i. "If you no get money, wetin you gain bar & restaurant" ii. "Suffer no dey tire you bar & restaurant" iii. "Overtaking is allowed bar & restaurant" iv. "Thunder fire poverty bar & restaurant" What do you think would be your reaction? Loading... |
But first, I advised him to: 1. Paint the container an attractive color that gives that "my eyes has been on this place, what's up with the color?" reaction. Since he wants to paint it, yellow, pink and green would do, especially the first and second. Why yellow? I rarely see people paint their houses thick yellow except MTN shops and there isn't any of them close to him. He should stir up controversies like "who the heck paints his restaurant like it's owned by mtn?... As for pink, it gives off that "girlish and gentle" vibe. The plan is to get people's attention, get them talking! Loading... |
Now the first problem was solved, he erected it at his father's land. He wants to sell drinks, food, meat and other "enjoyable" things. He was tired of slaving away in a bakery, working overnight and still not get appreciated by his colleagues and boss. It equally motivated me because we discussed about something crazy that I'll talk about soon... But first, I advised him to: Loading... |
Two days ago, my friend (the only guy that knows my house in this town) called me to come check out the work, he was doing at the site he wanted to set up his business. I had advised him to get a container if he really needed a shop because it was movable and he didn't need to pay rent every year. Every shop was over 150,000/200,000 naira for rent. Fortunately, we found a container for 200,000 and I managed to get the price down to #140,000. A new one costed over #350,000 so it was a good deal... Loading... |
