You do it already and you are telling me you are too busy making history being behind bars and single parents.

Are you the ones that fought for the rights of other immigrants too? Shut up biko.

Ah ha! The truth comes out. A troll and not a native African person behind the computer—here to cause division. God bless (smile)..we see you.

The same AA complain that our success is thanks to theirs. That they suffer while we enjoy. That they are still at the receiving end bla bla bla while we ball. That makes them liars from your own assertions.
They are more discriminatory of immigrants than whites . And Oga, we are richer and more educated, with better family system.

They should help themselves with what they claimed to have fought for and not disturb us. That's bad belle. Are they the ones that fought for Mexican and Asian immigrants too ? Yeye dey smell.

Not arguing with nonsense...

African Americans influence culture all around the world. And we always will! The technologists at Google even recognize this but you are unable to. And we welcome all Nigerians and wish you much success. We don’t have time to discriminate because we are busy making history. God bless!

Rubbish myth.

How come they too aren't enjoying those privileges or gaining from it if they are the ones that made African immigrants what they are. How come the latter is better than them ?

Pls read the articles I posted. African immigrants are not better off than African Americans born in this country as a whole, statistically speaking. Less than 20% are in what we consider “poverty”.

But poverty in the US is rich compared to third world countries. Our “poor” people have 24/7 electricity, subsidized housing, access to really good healthcare, education for their children, plenty of food, free mobile phones from the government, money to go to school or money to pay for child care for those that wish to work instead of going to school (govt funded), and a good infrastructure (great roads). I don’t really consider that poor compared to places in the world where people don’t have access to clean water or live in war torn environments. Chukwu (God) bless America.

My ancestors did not ask to come here but built this country and the great wealth people all over the world come here to enjoy. I respect and honor them for their sacrifice although many of my African brothers/sister disrespect their descendants and chose not to learn the truth about who we really are. (Crying emoji)

Yes, paid for by progressive taxation. I'm sure everyone understands that "free" there doesn't mean unfunded. Poor people pay little in taxes, but their children get a good education if their kids want it (many of them mock high performing black kids in school as "acting white"wink.
I didn't say anything about only Igbos having aspirations. You obviously need a refresher on grade school English comprehension if that is worth you understood from my comment. I was showing the difference between victimhood created by sectarian strife which has led to political marginalization, and self-victimhood which obstructs individual progress. In the context of Nigerian relations, Igbo disillusionment about Nigerian politics doesn't affect our individual life in any way.

I focus on the negatives in African-American society cos I do want the best for them and the statistics about their social dysfunction are alarming and they've made little progress in decades, partly attributable to the nihilistic fiction fed to many young black Americans that they have no productive future in a racist nation that is set up to obstruct their progress.
I swear African-Americans need a similar program as Jewish-Americans who are sponsored on "birthright" trips to Israel. Young African-Americans need to take a trip to Subsaharan Africa. To see the land of their ancestors. To see what hardship and poverty and deprivation and a lack of opportunity really means. Then they might actually buckle up, get a life, get responsible and stop whining about all the ways the evil white man are oppressing them, and live a productive life.

Please educate yourselves. To say we’ve made very little progress is not factual whatsoever.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.brookings.edu/articles/black-progress-how-far-weve-come-and-how-far-we-have-to-go/amp/

https://www.google.com/amp/s/blackamericaweb.com/2019/01/17/2-5-million-african-american-men-are-in-the-upper-middle-class/amp/

A working class African American lives a much higher quality of life than even middle class Nigerians( if you even have a middle class). Please stop the divide between people of similar ancestry. Read and understand facts and stop espousing things you see in the movies. It’s not real life for over 80% of us!

And since y’all like to watch American movies so much, watch something factual. Check out the Netflix show ‘Explained’—season 1, The Racial Wealth Gap.

You are such an arrogant hypocrite just like most Nigerians are, you said you don't judge us yet you falsely call us LAZY, RUDE, and UNCULTURED. Ironically that's how most people see Nigerians.

Exactly. Only 7% of AA are unemployed. We are not and never will be lazy. Read statistics on our education, wealth, and employment rates instead of watching movies that white producers send all over the world as propaganda about our community.

https://www.epi.org/publication/50-years-after-the-kerner-commission/

And even white people in America and globally research racial inequality in this country and use statistics to show it exists in very real ways (predatory lending, hiring practices, unconscious bias, policing, environmental racism etc) but people that live over 2,000 miles away and have never stepped foot in the US one day tell us “it is all in your mind/stop being a victim”. Lol. Unbelievable

We can argue that the system in America is rigged against the black man... its not his own country etc. Lets talk of your Niggeria ( poverty capital of the universe)where you are all educated yet you still look up to the Chinese to build roads for you. And you call the Chinese and Lebanese man "master" in your own country. Lets talk of their establishments in YOUR OWN COUNTRY where they say no blacks allowed and you treat them like demi gods. You talk as if your country is safe or one can step out after dark.

Wow! That’s crazy!

That would be great if what you posted was the truth. The truth is black Americans success outweigh Nigerian success in America. There is no way the few Africans in America can outweigh the success of over 40 million black Americans, lets be realistic here, you aren't a threat to anyone as a matter of fact we wish you success.

It's the arrogance, false pride and COONING for whites that we hate about you. That behavior is embarrassing to all black Americans. Please work on that.

Amen! We are rooting for our Naija brothers and sister and we’ve paved the way for ALL minorities in this country. As the author said, don’t try to downplay us for people that don’t even like you! It makes you look ridiculous and naive.

Nigerians stand out because of the negativity they portray. They are not a PROGRESSIVE threat but a THREAT of HARM.

So ignorant, Black Americans are in no way threatened by so called confident Nigerians. If you understand history, we are actually West African and probably share DNA with many of you. And I agree, worldwide Nigerians and African Americans are seen negativity. People that tear each other down of course can’t be respected by outsiders.

Institutionalized racism is a thing in America simplicita.

The white man has put in place a socio cultural and economic system to consolidate the ill gotten advantage it acquired and to ensure that the progeny of those whom he once enslaved never rise to a position where they're able to challenge or avenge the historical wrong that was done to them.

Irrespective of political isms, the traps are overt and covert and sometimes missed by foreigners especially African diaspora who are more excited about a perceived advantage they think they gain in their newly adopted country, however, the African American has learnt from experience to maintain a healthy dose of suspicion for anything white.

From slavery to KKK to Jim Crow, from Welfarism to Sangers' Planned Parenthood and from despicable race based horrific Government backed pseudo scientific experiments sans syphilis, tuberculosis and leprosy colonies to the so called war on drugs and other petty crimes that has enabled the white man to jail a quarter of the most virile and productive male members of the African American society, the African American has evolved to distrust anything the white man does and to respond with violence whenever the opportunity presents itself and I daresay rightly so, the white man's cowardice in the face of unbridled violence is beautiful to behold.

The African migrant as usual, is quick to point fingers at his cousin's violent propensities, his unwillingness to countenance anything white as having any good or merit; he forgets quite quickly that centuries of cohabitation with the white man has given the African American a unique insight into the nature of the white species of the human race.

The African American on the other hand, holds on to centuries old grudge in which he believes that the ancestors of his ignorant cousins sold his ancestors into slavery, he perceives in the African migrant an air of condescension which he believes stems from a feeling that 'my ancestors were superior to yours and were able to run faster from the white man'.

Thus a clash between the two becomes almost inevitable that the evil genius of the white man is quick to identify and exploit for his ultimate agenda I.e. the total subjugation of this subhuman species who dares aspire to personhood. The white man would rather elevate his dog than the black man - fact.

The conclusion is that the black race as usual has taken the easy path of hate and casting blames and aspersions; finding a reason to hate your neighbor is always easy, it is hard to find a reason to love and respect him.

Like the Joseph incidence in biblical lore (Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brethren), the migrant can learn so much from those who were there before him, whilst those who were there before have a great opportunity in the migrant to reconnect with what they once lost.

This is a great opportunity to consolidate our knowledge and experiences, take stock of what we did wrong and how easily we allowed other races to subjugate and enslave us and to forge a common path forward.

Brilliant! Intelligent, well traveled Nigerian man. Thank you for attempting to educate your countrymen.

Are there neighborhoods more smelly than some of the ones you have in Nigeria?

Of course they are not. Even people that are considered in poverty in the US are actually rich compared to even middle class people in Nigeria. They have 24/7 lights, access to health care, plenty of food, the internet, good roads, etc etc. Let the Naija folk hate. Not sure why they don’t unite with us. Sad.

Just the same way black south Africans blame apartheid for all their economic woes and taken it out on their fellow black immigrants .

So sickening how ignorant and non-empathetic some Nigerians are. So AA and South Africans blame whites for woes, who do Nigerians blame for living in an all black country with poor roads, no steady electricity and no jobs for the young people? And least we don’t oppose our own kind.

very unattractive for marriage...hilarious. If you’re a good man with integrity, you will not have any problems keeping a Western wife. However, if you plan on being a lying, cheating asshole, I agree, you’re probably better off marrying a human doormat, not a woman with dignity and God given intelligence that can make you and your childrens’ lives better, living a positive legacy for generations to come.

Marry a young girl with strong nigerian traditional values that you can groom from nigeria. Submissiveness should be a top priority. You just need to search well and observe her behaviour well.

A second or third generation western born nigerian female is filled with feminist thoughts, they are very unattractive if you want a good and stable marriage

Please permit me to interject here, and I am not speaking for the person whom you quoted. I understand your drift. But keep in mind that the slave traders did not come to your household and seize your children and enslave them. It was fellow Africans who captured other Africans and sold them into slavery to the white people in the coasts. Or did you read of any white men raiding African villages and capturing slaves? So, our wickedness and vindictiveness transcends the trans Atlantic slavery and colonialism.

Well I'm still part of the group seeking to move out of this country. It is becoming very difficult to live an honest life here.

Despite how humble my background appear to be, I went to school, studied hard and graduated with a CGPA of 4.01/5. A course of five years was made six because of some unreasonable strike action within the university and the general ASUU. After national service , you begin to 'look' for jobs. And because you don't have 'connection' the jobs you get are those 15/25k monthly. Your age is a 'disadvantage'. You apply for govt. jobs, you get rigged out.

All the while, your peers who are into Yahoo-yahoo are 'living big'. You resolve to remain sane, positive and keep trying but years keep passing by. You look at what policies your government is making and you feel hopeless.

I'm intensely looking for scholarships or anything to leave this space. I believe I have the intellectual ability to excel in my field outside this country. The environment here is very unhelpful and depressing.

The only reason I am still around here is that I presently do not have the financial wherewithal to fund my travel processing.

Your story is heartbreaking. Feel free to send me your email address and I’ll be happy to share my thoughts on scholarship opportunities abroad.
