The Communications and Media Manager of Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa while speaking to newsmen at the award said, ‘we want to appreciate Leadership Group for this award. It just shows that people appreciate the effort we have put in to offer the best of services to our teeming guests.

We have also passed rigorous audits conducted by a couple credible organizations including the Flight Safety Group – The foreign partners of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the International Air Transport Association.

In 2014 we absorbed over 45 Nigerian Pilots and invested heavily in their training. Our Director of Flight Operations is a Nigerian with over 27 years experience and our Accountable Manager is also a Nigerian with over 30 years experience in aircraft maintenance, fleet management , quality and safety , and network planning. We have retooled a lot from our fuel audits to engineering and crewing. Our safety strategies are novel and world-class and our commitment to the safety and comfort of our guests is unwavering.

We have gone beyond the recommendations and we set an enviable standard that we review on a daily basis. Let me also mention that last year, in furtherance of our efforts to continue to recruit qualified Nigerian Pilots, we turned down the employment of some Pilots who didn’t meet the standards we have set even after their training. Imo Air Operated Dana Air Begins Recruitment in Owerri

Imo Air operated by Dana Air has commenced recruitment of indigenes of the state to occupy various positions in the airline as promised by Governor Rochas Okorocha, during the launch of the airline on 24 of January, 2017.

During the interview which commenced in the first week of February, over 400 Imo indigenes participated in the process even as the airline prepares to hit the ground running with a number of initiatives to better impact the indigenes of the state and the South East at large.

According to the Accountable Manager of Imo Air operated by Dana Air, Mr Obi Mbanzuo ‘we have commenced recruitment of Imo state indigenes to occupy various positions in the airline and the process will be in batches.

We intend keeping to the promise of the Governor and at the same time; we are trying not to over bloat our workforce. As you may be aware, Dana Air was selected to manage Imo Air as a result of our consistency, on-time performance, world-class in-flight service, and shrewd managerial style and we intend sticking to this style just so we can match-up to the operational challenges in the industry.’’

‘Definitely, all qualified candidates will be absorbed and as an airline committed to giving back to the society; we are already looking at other areas to impact and contribute our quota to increasing the traffic into Imo state, to make the state an investment and tourism hub in the south east.’’

Governor Okorocha while reacting to the news of the recruitment said ‘the exercise is just a confirmation of the promises we made during the launch of Imo Air. I am happy about this, as people thought we were joking about this well thought-out idea.

''The truth is, we want people to visit Imo State for both business and pleasure and going into an airline business was just a perfect business decision, considering that Imo state is the fastest developing city in Nigeria at the moment. And as you know, tourism and aviation are a perfect combination, one cannot work without the other.”

“We are also monitoring the progress of work at the Cargo International Airport and hopefully in April or May, we will receive the first Cargo plane in Imo State. Imolites should expect more Imo-centric initiatives and very soon, the 10% discount for Imo indigenes will also be unveiled. We are still working out the modalities and we want to prove to the world that this administration walks the talk and doesn’t just pay lip service to projects.”

''Let me also mention here that, Dana Air the operator of Imo Air; is part of a massive conglomerate which spans Automobile, Aviation, Pharmaceutical, Steel, Plastics, Water, Chemical, Banking, and Real Estate. And the idea is to have them invest in various areas in Imo state, particularly in Agriculture. This is our plan as we believe creating a favorable business environment for local investors will bring forth foreign investments and investors’’

opribo:
Rebranding DANA air as IMO air. Owerri is a choice for domestic airline especially for the South East so its no surprise DANA wanst to make Owerri a base and trust Rochas it was a good opportunity for show off. They need to get new modern aircraft types like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 for the airport and not repaint the old DANA air MD83 that is outdated in some countries with IMO air.

This is not real CHANGE it is superficial.

Deceived about what?

As soon as I saw the photos, I started laughing hard..

Imo State people no dey make noise again about Okorocha like before. Them don gree say na once chance dem dey so dey are just going along for the ride now.

But this fuckery posted by that senator person is utter bullshit. Even Airfrane has crashed before and they are still in operation. Aircrash investigations are multiple in its approach as the NAIB is the Nigerian arm which will partner with the NTSB (foreign arm) and the Aircraft manufacturers.

What this means is that the results of a crash cannot be doctored as there is an international agency charged with such investigations and they also do this to chackmate if there is a mechanical fault with that brand of aircraft that needs to be checked on others.

Sorry for his loss but his post is dead on arrival.

let me break it for you.
He said, an investigation was carried out and they couldn't ascertain the cause of the crash. If that's true why should anybody fly with the same airline? What improvement has the airline made to prevent a similar crash from happening if they don't even know what caused the last one?.

If you want to know the cause of the last one go and meet AIB. Its simple! Dana Air is not the only airline to have had an incident but the airline trust must have learnt it lessons considering that they recently got a safety certification from an international body. I will fly them again and again cos other airlines be feeling complacent while Dana Air to some extent will be making extra effort to ensure it doesnt happen again.

Better heed his advise and stay clear of such airline.
